Diana walked silently, she was thinking. It was a cold night, even for Las Vegas. The neon lights cast a colorful aura around the city, and of course it was loud. Las Vegas was a lot like New York, the place never slept at night. However, unlike New York, the place slept during the day after long nights of partying and gambling. She hated this place. So many young women had devoted their lives to this place. Not in a good way either. This was usually the last place you would find Diana. Also it was rare to see her without her Hunters. However she had a recruitment job to do, one that was going to be very difficult.
She had been trailing this one girl for a couple of days. This girl had run away from home due to an abusive dad. Although she hated using the "Boys treat you bad so come to a boy free world" motto, it was what was going to work on this individual. Diana walked along the streets while flashing the picture of the girl to strangers. They all pointed towards the same direction. Diana smirked a bit, this was going to be easy. As she followed the trail, only thinking optimistic thoughts, she stopped short. The girl had walked into a casino, and not just any type of casino. The young girl had walked into the Lotus Hotel Casino. Diana muttered some Latin curses. She could always try to walk in and take her out, but that required a lot of paperwork. She figured the girl would pop out in maybe a hundred years, if she was lucky.
Diana turned around and walked more. As she passes an ally she heard some wolf whistles from some immature men, probably in their early twenties. "Come here babe, lets have fun." "A girl like you needs a chaperon, underage aren't ya." They boys said as the advanced on the Goddess. Diana rolled her eyes and stared at the boys. "Hmm, let me think. An antelope or a jackrabbit. I'm thinking jackrabbit. Then you can scurry into the dessert to live out your lives. Though I may hunt you down. There is a demand for jackrabbit fur" Diana said.
The boys looked at her like she was on drugs. "Yo, chick, what are you on." "Share your dope, girl. We'll pay ya in some fun times." The boys retorted. Diana sighed and pointed to each boy. The boys didn't even have time to scream before they became jackrabbits. Though they were scared as they dropped pellets as they ran off into the Las Vegas alleys. "Boys have gotten worse over time. They only time they did seem respectful were when Chivalry was alive. Though that was only a tiny few. Its surprising that girls still run to these morons." The goddess said. She looked at the sky and frowned. One thing bad about cities was that no matter where you were, you could never see the stars. The night was her element and the star constellations were her work of art, and in this filthy town she couldn't see her handiwork.
She walked across a street and found a Starbucks, those things were everywhere now. Luckily this one was still open. She walked into the store and thought of a drink. Even though she had Nectar and Ambrosia, she still enjoyed seeing what the big deal was with human likes, she was the Goddess more in touch with mortal life. Finally Diana settled on a chocolate mocha. As she got her drink she took a sip cautiously. The drink was hot, but not enough to hurt her taste buds. She drank half of it within the first couple of minutes. She sat at a table behind a wall that was entirely window and stared out into the Las Vegas nightlife, wondering about mortal lives.
