Felicity adjusted the straps on her armor. No, she wasn't going into a battle or engaging in a fight with anyone. She was practicing her first go on a chariot. The legion needed more people skilled on chariot. Their fast and can be handy in battle too as long as the horses don't get too frightened. But chariot riding was becoming a dying sport. You needed to be a quick thinking and think with instinct rather than reason or else you will end up a gore filled spill on the track. Felicity felt pretty confident she could handle this though. And if not, well, at least she gave it a try once in her life. Best case scenario she'll have a few broken bones and maybe a paralysis.
She tightened her grip on the reins, looking out at the abandoned dirt track. Perks of practicing at four in the morning. She took in a breath of the warm morning air and hit the reins to start the horses as the cart lurched forward and Felicitys right foot slid back out of instinct, but she soon put her foot back into position. Not being able to afford having her foot slid off with her following from the small area you get to stand up in in the chariot. As the chariot gained speed as the horses galloped faster Felicity saw the first bend in the track and followed her gut on the position to move the reins to coax the horses to go in that position. The first turn was really rough and Felicity knew she could use improvement in that area. She went around the track a number of times focusing on fixing little details that could make the ride easier and more steady. After all, she wanted to fight on chariot, not stand idly.
Speaking of fighting, after a few rounds she grabbed the spear she grabbed the javelin she had put into the compartment with her. True, while most use the bow while in the chariot, the javelin was just as good of a weapon, not to mention the sword, but that was usually for when your chariot broke down in the midst of battle. She held the javelin tightly and continued the fast pace the chariot was going at, heading towards the dummies Felicity had positioned earlier. She gripped the javelin and aimed it straight towards the chest of one of the dummies. She felt the hard thrust as it entered the dummy and it knocked her back out of the chariot as she rolled on the rocky, dusty track, scrapping her arms and coughing from inhaling.
After she finished rolling and she could hear the horses come to a stop she slowly lifted herself up and dusted herself off, gritting her teeth as the dust entered the scratches on her arm. She wasn't expecting that much force to be associated with the speed of the chariot and penetration of the javelin. Stupid of her, obviously. It seemed obvious, yet she wasn't in the right stance, nor was she holding the javelin correctly for it. Still, she surveyed the dummy that she did hit and became disappointed at how little deep it penetrated. She sighed and wondered if anyone else was up early enough to see her epic fail at charioting.
