’I know’. That was all he needed to hear though. He beamed, feeling elated that Felicity was counting on him like this. People didn’t usually do that. But none of that right now. This was not the timing for introspection. Which, contrary to popular believe, he actually did quite often. But not right now. Felicity needed his help and, by the gods, he was going to give it all he had. And right now, he knew she also needed a pick-me-up. Which was why he was being careful to stay positive. It was easier to be positive when the people around you were positive too. He’d used the method for years and it hadn’t really failed him yet, so why should he stop now? Besides, it kept his own negative feels at bay, which was a definite plus. So onward march!

Until he saw the light. No, not the figurative light, the real one, and spread out in a perfect rainbow of colors. He immediately pointed it out to Felicity and half dragged her over to the store in question before she could even get a full question out. He laughed. “Can I get inside? Now now, one shouldn’t ask silly questions.” he joked. “It’ll probably be alarmed so we’ll have to watch it. Don’t touch anything or get too close to touching anything. I can open doors but I can’t turn off security systems.”

Just as he finished speaking, a roar of some kind could be heard echoing down the street off the buildings. Ethan went pale and immediately went to the door. He placed his hand over the lock and after a second of concentration, heard a faint click. He opened the door. “In, in!”

Felicity nodded as he rambled on about how she shouldn't touch anything in fear of setting off any alarm. Honestly, what did he think she was, stupid? That was probably thieving common sense, not that they were thieves, well Ethan was, but Felicity wasn't and right now neither of them were going to steal, or where they? She actually had no idea it was kinda of a rush thing. Felicity was literally dragged over to the door and Ethan automatically went to work. Way for planning, Minerva would be so proud of these two demigods. She would probably die laughing at how unprepared these two were getting themselves into the situation. Good, one less deity to mess with.

Felicitys train of thought was cut off by a roar and then Ethan holding open the door yelling for her to get in. She blinked, a bit shocked for a second. "What?" She asked before shaking her head and getting up and heading inside, grabbing Ethan by the arm, dragging him behind her and holding the door closed, looking out of the glass. "What in Plutos name was that?" Felicity whispered loudly to Ethan as she kept her eyes on the horizon to see if the monster would reveal itself. Gods, she was stupid. To think that her and Ethan would be able to sneak into town to do this task undetected was stupid! She should have planned something out. Gods, she really was a horrible planner. Whose stupid idea was it to ever make her a centurion? Warlow was right when she always exclaimed that Felicitys plans sucked when she tried to make one. Got it, she wasn't a planner. She was more think with the gut and try to make the plan while doing it. Yeah, this was probably going to get her killed one day. She looked at Ethan. She needed to keep a level head and stop beating herself up. She had to keep Ethan safe. She was his centurion, she was suppose to have the answers to fighting, to keeping them safe. But she knew Ethan would try to keep her safe and gods! How did Remus do this kind of thing? Planning. It was horrible! Remus. That was why she was here. Because she was worried about her boyfriend. Because of a stupid ringing in her ears. It could have been a trap by the monster for all she knew and now she had blindly lead her and Ethan to their doom! She looked at her shoes, unable to look at Ethan. "I'm sorry....." He was going to end up hurt or dead and it was all her fault.

Ethan stared at her. Did she just ask him what he was so worried about? She did not just ask him that. He was fairly sure it was pretty obvious. Thankfully she seemed to catch on quick and soon he found himself being pulled into the shop and joining her at the door. “I don’t know, but I don’t think it’s here to wish us good tidings of great joy.” he whispered back.

Then she pulled a Felicity. Or just a girl in general. Aka, she went all silent and then pulled something random out of the air. He raised an eyebrow at her. “Hold the phone. You have no reason to be sorry.” What had she been thinking that had led to that? “Come on, we have a mission here. Do you have denarii? Wait a sec… here, just take this. He pushed his last two denarii into her hand. “You figure out the crystals and make your call and I’ll hold off turd breath. I don’t know, maybe you can use your shadows to move the crystals until they’re in the right place or something. Shadows wouldn’t trip alarms. Should work. And hey, if it doesn’t, we seem to have bigger things to worry about so should be good, right? Now go. I got this.”

He teleported just outside the door so that she would have no real choice in the matter. Either she open the door to stop him, which she better not do, or she agree to his plan and get to work. Hopefully the latter. He really wouldn’t mind getting this over with and getting back to their little camp – the quest camp, at least – as soon as possible. “Oy, overgrown rat fart! Come and get me!” Then the minotaur showed itself. Ethan paled. “Oh… hi.” He swallowed his nerve and drew his gladius, glad he’d brought it with him. “Let’s do this!” The minotaur rawred and charged…

I Got A War In My Mind The next thing Felicity realized was the two denarii being slammed into her hand and Ethan being outside. "You're a stupid idiot!" Felicity yelled at the doors that was blocking her way to helping Ethan. Gods, why did he have to act all noble now. She wasn't some damsel in distress, despite what it may look like at some times. She could have handled contacting Remus by herself. Why'd Ethan have to be there at the wrong time? Now he was going to get hurt and it would all be Felicity Weingartens fault. Kudos to her, way to be a pal. Seriously, way to be the worst friend in existence. Still, despite every cell in her body screaming at her to help out Ethan she knew that if she walked out of the shop Ethan would probably end up getting more hurt than he already will. The best course of action she had to do was get a rainbow ready and see if her stubborn boyfriend was okay, then she'd go over and help out her impulsive idiot of a friend, though really, did she have any room to call them those things?  Felicity looked at the shadows of the nearby wall of the crystals. This was going to take focus and she couldn't afford to mess up, messing up would mean that the British police force would be on their backs and how were they going to explain that they broke into a store to create a rainbow to talk to some guy in America? They would sooner be thrown into an asylum. Felicity focused on the shadows, moving them so that they stroked the crystals, being gentle and manuevering them so that the light hit in the right spot to make the rainbow follow the stream of light into the store. After examining the rainbow was in the right place she lost focus on the shadows and the crystals moved back to the original position. Figures, she would have to keep her focus on that while making the call. Just another thing for her mind to focus on. The crystals, making sure Ethan doesn't die, checking to see if Remus was dead or not, and people wondered why it seemed Felicity was having anxiety issues as of late. Not to mention she had to keep a form of block on her mind to keep her nosy grandfather out. Gods, this sucked. Felicity moved the crystals intricately with her shadows again to bring the rainbow back to the inside of the shop. She took a deep breath, glancing outside briefly to see Ethan facing the minotaur. Muttering a curse for taking too long she tossed a denarrii into the rainbow and said the prayer to Isis to let her talk to Remus. That is, if he was still alive. He could hear her through the door. But, then again, that wasn’t about to stop him. He gripped his gladius until his knuckles turned white. Okay, so he was a little scared. Maybe a lot of scared. He wasn’t exactly Rome’s best fighter after all. That was probably… well, anyone but him. But he was doing this for his friend, and that was all the conviction he needed. Time to buy Felicity some time. He ran out into the lamp-lit street and stopped short when he saw exactly what was making such a ruckus. Not exactly a cute fluffy puppy. That would have been good right about now, rather than the thing he was facing down. A cute little huggable puppy, maybe a cocker spaniel with those poofy floppy ears. Good stuff. Unfortunately, he was not facing a cocker spaniel puppy.

“Helping Felicity. Helping Felicity,” he more or less chanted to himself as though this was going to help his odds. Well, at least it did do the job of giving him motivation. He was nothing if not stubbornly loyal. And Felicity was his friend. So he would give her the time she needed to find her piece of mind even if got a bit bloodied up in the process. He glanced up at the night sky as the minotaur rawred again. “Gramps, if you’re listening, some help right now would be epic.”

Then he charged.

Thank the gods the monster was slow to move in anything but a straight line, because that was about the only advantage he had going for him. He teleported behind the creature and stabbed at the back of its beefy knee, definitely not a place most people – or monsters, he assumed – would enjoy having a gladius shoved. Score one Ethan Hunter! Though it was obvious the minotaur wasn’t happy about it. He started his slow turn and Ethan ran around the opposite side from the way he was facing. “Oy! Moo-man! Come on and get me!” It certainly got the minotaur’s attention. The monster swung round its club as best it could, but it was hard to hit someone behind you when you were easily twice their height as it was. Then came the unexpected move. The minotaur struck out behind it with one of its heavy hooves like a bull kicking back, just with considerable more times the strength. And it hit Ethan square in the chest. He felt one of his ribs crack at the contact and fly backwards into a solid brick wall. His vision fuzzed over for a moment and he blinked to get it back in focus. Just in time to see that the minotaur had taken the time he’d been regathering his wits and was now facing him. He swallowed hard. Uh oh.
