At this moment, she was happy she was a centurion and thus allowed to go to the Principia without getting permission. Then again, even if she wasn’t a centurion, she probably would have stormed the Principia anyway. After all, Jason had been spotted.

She had left so quickly she’d nearly forgotten to say thank you to the person who had informed her. But not quite. She’d done a double take and caught her by surprise with a big hug. What could she say, she was a huggy person. Especially when excited. And this was most certainly a reason for excitement. Three months ago she’d found her boyfriend – and the camp praetor, for that matter, but she considered his title as boyfriend a little more important most of the time. Not that the camp didn’t need him, just that to her- well never mind – was gone. Well, Remus was too, but that didn’t count because he was back like two days later. Felicity didn’t have to wait three months like she did. She knew she shouldn’t resent Felicity for it. After all, hadn’t she said that Remus had said he and Jason had decided that Remus would go back if given the chance? Something like that. But she still couldn’t help but wish she was in Felicity’s shoes sometimes. She had her boyfriend here and could see him whenever she liked. She wasn’t in the military anymore. She was even shopping for a wedding dress officially. Well, getting back on level in one out of the three wasn’t bad, right?

Speaking of which, back to business. She full out ran to the principia, very nearly running into several people, but they would just have to forgive her for her hurry. More important things first. A bright smile on her face, she came up to the door of the principia, hardly able to contain her excitement. She pushed the door open and peaked in. “Jason?” She could hardly dare hope, but someone had said they’d seen him, so what if they were right? She couldn’t help but pray to the gods she had been right.

The principia, gods, it had been awhile. The blonde headed praetor made his way towards his desk and ran a hand over the wood. He looked down at his hand. Dust. He gave a sigh. What was he expecting? He had been gone for a few months. Of course his desk would have accumulated some dust while he was away. Though, there was the outlines of where papers use to be. Perhaps Remus had decided to get those out of the way. The sound of metal footsteps made Jason turn to be met with the gold dog. He smiled and dropped to a knee as the metal dog happily bounded over to him. As Jason gave affection to Aurum, Argentum bounded over shortly after. Jason laughed as the metal dogs eagerly gave him attention.

"I missed you guys too." Jason said as he stood up. Shortly after the dogs both turned their head toward the door of the principia as it opened. They headed in that direction, but not barking their metal heads off, so that must mean that whoever it was entering the principia did not mean any harm. Jason walked out of his office and leaned against the wall, looking down the hall leading to the entrance of the building. He had been pretty good at keeping a low profile, he wasn't too eager to be asked a million questions about his internment. Honestly, he just slowly wanted to get back to his normal life. Though, if someone had seen him they probably went and told Clare first thing.

Jason gave a soft smile at the thought of his Clare Bear. Gods, he had missed her. Luckily he was still able to Iris message her from time to time, but the time between their last meeting was too great. How the heck Remus was able to go a half year with barely any contact from Weingarten was beyond him. Jason didn't ever want to leave Clare's side. As a voice spoke Jason became alert. He had recognized that sweet sounding voice that asked a one worded question. His Clare, his beautiful, elegant, innocent Clare. He jogged down the hallway and gave a grin once he saw that the voice really did belong to her.

He didn't stop. He jogged right up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist, picking her up with a spin before putting her down and kissing her deeply. After pulling away he leaned his forehead against hers. "Clare, my sweet Clare. I'm never leaving you again."

Chalk this up for the best day of 2014. Jason was home. That had to merit, like, a parade or a national holiday, right? At least, it did in the book of Clare. And, she figured, it should for the whole camp too, considering he was a praetor. But why hadn’t he come to see her when he got back? She couldn’t deny the fact that, while she was fine letting him get his ground again, deep down she was a little hurt. She hadn’t talked to him since… at least a month. Too long, either way. She’d missed him so much. Even with the occasional iris message, it just wasn’t the same. She wanted to hold him, to be held by him, to kiss him. Just be with him. Anything. The idea that he was back and it just skipped his mind to tell her…. But the idea that he was back period was enough to hide the confusion under mountains of relief and joy. She just needed to see him. Just see him. Know that he was truly back, and he was well and happy.

Which was what brought her to the principia right now. Though she probably wasn’t supposed to, she opened the door anyway, if at least a hair. Immediately she heard the two metal greyhounds padding – clicking? – up towards the door, on high alert no doubt. For good reason too. From what she’d heard and seen the last months, they didn’t let Remus off without supervision even when the guy was sleeping. So it fell to reason that they would be almost as excited as her that Jason was now back too. Almost. “Hey, Aurum, Argentum. It’s just me. Is-”

Then she saw him. And suddenly the dogs were the last thing on her mind. “Jason!” She pushed the door the rest of the way open and burst in, gladly hugging him close. She laughed when he spun her, though it was quickly cut short by a kiss. Not that she was complaining. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back just as deeply. When he pulled away, she was tempted to kiss him again, just for good measure, but decided against it. For now. Instead she settled with somewhere between grinning like an idiot and giggling, her arms still firmly around Jason’s neck as he rested his forehead against hers. Gods, it was good to have him back. “I can’t believe you’re back. This is amazing! How on earth-… but it doesn’t matter. You’re back! Are you okay? Did they hurt you?” She pulled one of her arms free and held the side of his face in her palm, just cherishing being able to touch him. He was really here! She laughed. “And yes, you better not leave me again, or I’m rallying the entire camp into a search party for you,” she joked. Sort of.

He didn't want this moment to end. Being able to actually hold his Clare, smell in her scent, bury his face into her blonde wavy hair. On his worst days he thought he would never get the chance to do this again. He would never see Clare. Thank the gods for Ethans rescue. Despite Jason still wishing Ethan wouldn't have risked his life like that just to rescue him. Sure, the excuse the camp needed him was kinda convincing but it wasn't exactly true either. If needed, they could always find a new preator and, while it might take a very long time, the people connected to him would eventually move on after his death. It is just the way of life. Still, he wouldn't deny how happy he is at the current moment.

Jason reached up and tucked a strand of Clares hair behind her ear. "I'm fine. I'm safe. I've already checked in with the infirmary and everything. They told me to take it easy is all. Hence why I was keeping my return quiet. Sorry, if that worried you." He said as he stared into her eyes, getting lost for a minute. He gave a soft chuckle at her joke, which sounded more like a promise. He wouldn't put it past her to rally the entire camp behind her just to save him. The knight in shining armor position being switched as he becomes the damsel in distress needing her to save him. It was a tad funny to think about.

He kissed her forehead softly. "I'm sorry for worrying you." He said softly, needing to get the apology out someway. And, we will save your father somehow too. He's still strong. Makes it hell for the gaurds, giving them a bath when they would much prefer staying dry." Jason said with a slight smirk, hoping to help motivate her in regards to her father. Which, he was being truthful. That big three god wasn't so bad after being locked up with him for the past few months. If anything they seem to be closer. Neptunre helped Jason stay fit while in captivity, assigning him a work out regime while the guards weren't looking. By the time Jason left they seem to have made improvement on their relationship. At least he wasn't a fish. That would have been horrible. As much as Clare loves fishes Jason was pretty sure she would rather have her boyfriend in the human variety.

Clare beamed. How could she not? Jason was back and they were together again! She hugged him tight, treasuring the feeling of him in her arms and she in his. That was the way things were supposed to be. She leaned her head against his shoulder with a light sigh, breathing in his old, familiar smell. Even so long locked away hadn’t gotten rid of that. As she held on to him, she remembered the evening of Valentine’s Day, when he’d called her from his cell. It had been such a happy surprise, and then talking for hours after that. She’d wasted nearly a whole week’s wage on that day, but she hadn’t minded. It had by far been worth it. But not quite as much as this moment. She lifted her head and gazed into his eyes. He was really here.

She couldn’t help but smile. “Well, as long as the infirmary says you’re okay, then you must be fine. And you’re home. I admit it did worry me a little that I’d heard you were back through someone else… but it’s okay. I understand. I hope you don’t mind me coming to visit. I had to see for myself. Had to see you.” She reached up and gently held the side of his face in her hand. It was so great to feel the warmth of his skin under her fingers. She silently sent a thank you up to any and all gods who might be listening in.

She closed her eyes when he kissed her forehead. Yes, this was definitely how things were supposed to be. She wished she could stay here with him all night, but fourth had early training tomorrow. If he didn’t mind though, she’d certainly spend all of her available time here in the principia with him. She definitely wouldn’t mind playing his personal nurse, even if he was fine. Doctor’s orders were that he take it easy, just as he said. So maybe they could have a movie night or something. That was taking it easy. Oh, and she could find Ryan and maybe get his help in making something delicious for Jason too. She considered Ryan like an Iron Chef in her book, since he had a lot more experience than she did. So she was determined to learn from him. But back to the moment. The future could worry about itself.

“It’s okay. It certainly wasn’t your fault. I’m just thankful for the times we did get to talk, and that you were taken care of there. That’s what’s important. They didn’t starve you to death or anything.” She couldn’t help but smile when he spoke of her father being alright – more than alright, but even terrorizing his captors. She laughed softly. “You’re right. He’s going to be fine. And he’ll be free soon. Speaking of which… did you two… get along okay?” she asked with a slight frown, worry in her eyes. She paused. “And hold on. Take off your shirt! Wait, that came out wrong. I mean, I just wanted to-… I just realized… when I hugged you, you seem a lot, well, stronger. If that’s possible. In a good way, of course! But how?”

Gods, she was adorable. That was all Jason could think about as she kept trying to make sure it was okay she came to see him. Of course it was! There was no way in Tartarus he would be mad that she came to see him and to make sure he was okay. Yeah, he was going to play low for a short time, but he was so happy to see the light of his life that was Clare with a smile. He couldn't help but chuckle when she asked if he and her father got along okay. If she only knew. Then her retort about his shirt, he could not hold back a laugh as he leaned against the wall, laughing.

"Clare, I know you're excited to see me and all, but really, this is a public place." Jason teased with a smirk once he stopped laughing. He couldn't help it. He was still a teenager and what was a teenager without making jokes in the promiscuous department? He leaned in close to her ear. "I'm just teasing." Then kissed her cheek before pulling away and grabbing his shirt from the back and pulling it up, revealing his muscular chest.

Before he left for the prison at casa de Saturn he was muscular, that was true. But his strength mainly stayed within his arms due to countless years of mastering his fathers choice of weapon, the bow. However his chest was taunt, not toned and muscular. But now, since working out took up most of his time in his prison he now held a four pack on his chest, almost a six pack if he kept up his daily fitness regime. His legs were no longer as scrawny as they were in the past. Now instead of having an archers physique he now had more of a overall muscular look to him. Not that he was complaining. He just didn't think it was as noticeable, thought he supposed nothing could escape Clare, especially with her hugs. Speaking of her hugs, he wanted another one.

Jason grabbed her around the waist with his arm and pulled her in close and planted his lips upon hers as his hands got lost in her blonde waves. He wanted to be stuck in this moment forever. Lost, away from it all. The sound of a mechanic dogs footsteps brought him back to reality as he pulled away from his love with a slight smirk. "Sorry. I had to make sure this was real." Jason said, thankful that he was still able to pull out a romantic line at the top of his head rather than stumble over any stupid reasoning to make up for him just wanting to kiss her. Those kinds of lines made girls happy anyway, and he wanted to see that adorable smile on Clares face.

Jason was back, Jason was back! She could practically dance in place, and very nearly did. She felt like a child on Saturnalia or Christmas or whichever you felt like celebrating. Maybe it was safer just to go with the ‘kid in a candy shop’… with a free pass to all the candy she wanted, that is. Yep, that about summed it up. She was probably grinning like an idiot, but the good news was, since when had Jason cared if she looked like an idiot? He really was the perfect guy. She was so lucky to have him. And his laugh - even if it was at her poor wording choice – was so nice. She jokingly hit him lightly on the shoulder. “Don’t laugh at me!” Though the fact that she was laughing herself didn’t help the matter. It had been rather funny. However, at his words, she blushed brilliant red. Even if he did say he was teasing. Was it wrong to say she’d thought about it before? She decided not to admit that one and instead simply laughed. “Well then, let’s find a private place,” she teased right back, adding in a wink for good measure.

Then he actually took off his shirt. She quite forgot their little game. Gods above, he was gorgeous. She did the only thing natural: she reached out and ran her hand over his sculpted chest. “Oh my gods… what, did you bench press your cell bed in your spare time? Wow, Jason! I mean, not that I’m like all superficial and only care about that, but I have to say, you look amazing!” She hoped he wouldn’t think poorly of her for having mentioned his physique. Like she said, she wasn’t really the superficial type, she just happened to notice there was something different about him and got curious. Was that so bad? And, well, could anyone really blame her for wanting to touch his chest either? It was like a magnet.

And then he kissed her again. She ran her fingers over his bare back and held him close to her. His skin was warm and soft under her touch. How long she had wanted this, just to be with him again and hold him and kiss him. This moment was perfect. If she hadn’t been a trained Roman, she probably would have entirely missed the sound of metallic tapping. She grinned at him when he pulled away. “No, by all means, check that whenever you like.” Gods, just another thing she loved about him. He had such a way with words. She remembered when she was little and used to read all those fairy tale books with her mom. He was by far better than any of the handsome, daring princes in those books. By far. For now though, she knelt down on the floor and welcomed the greyhound, scratching behind his ears even if she wasn’t sure the dog could even feel it. “Hey there, Aurum. Take good care of him, okay. For now though, it’s my turn.” She looked up at Jason and smirked. “So, you’re keeping a low profile, and we’re finally reunited. What should we do to celebrate that wouldn’t be too public? Movie night? Just hang out? Or… do you need me to leave?” She didn’t like the idea, but she would understand if he did want her to go. He needed rest and to get his life back in order.

Jason couldn't help but have a satisfied smirk plastered on his face as Clare admired his physique. All this praise probably wasn't good for him to not become overly self confident but hey, a nice boost now and did worked out well. Though, he had a lot of people gush over him growing up and it did cause him to act rather arrogantly later in life. Heck, anyone who knew him before Clare could vouch for that. He was a right jerk thinking that his attractive qualities could get him anywhere in life. For the most part that was how it had been. He must have been so annoying to Ethan. Actually, he was rather curious about that. Did Ethan have to fight the overwhelming urge to hit eery day. If Jason was in Ethans shoes he could have hit him. "Not my cell bed but your father did ram me with a pretty intense fitness program. He wanted to make sure I was in my best shape possible in order to keep you safe."

It was true. Neptune did care deeply for Clare even if he was never really there. Jason heard all about it while htey were imprisoned in the dungeons together. It made him see the gods in a different light. Sure, they still had their own moments that would make any mortal think they were the most stupid beings to ever come into existence. But really, they were just misunderstood. They had feelings too and thought about their past actions. Who would have thought they were the reflecting type? Certainly not Jason, not until he was stuck with only a god as company for a few months.

He admired Clare as she leaned down to scratch Aurum. Was it really scratching? They were metal after all. Did they even have sensors on them to experience the feeling? The questions Jason had. Though he supposed they probably had all the same features and reactions as a normal dog, they were just metal. His wandering thoughts were brought back to reality as Clare asked the question. Jason knit his eyebrows and looked at her a little sad and hurt. "No, I would never want you to leave. Ever." Jason said, trying to tie in enough emotion for her to realize with those words. If he could he would scoop her up right this second and leave camp. Go out and live normal lives. If that was what she wanted of course, what she wanted played a key role in his life.

Still, the mood was no longer happy and excitement like it had been. Jason needed to change that. He put on his devilish smirk and looked at her with hungry, but in a good way, eyes as he moved in closer to her. "How about that private place?' Jason whispered in her ear. Gods, this was the most provocative thing he had ever done to Clare. She was his sweet, innocent, naive Clare. He knew this would probably make her go redder than a tomato but gods, she was adorable when she was blushing.

Clare didn’t really want to take her hands off him; she hoped he didn’t mind. He was just so handsome, she couldn’t help it. How had she gotten so lucky as to be with him? Cupid really had done her a favor last year. She remembered it fondly. She’d signed up for the event without anyone in mind, just hoping to meet someone new and have fun. Then she’d learned she would be with the then head of the infirmary and probably one of the most notoriously gorgeous guys in camp. She’d been nervous, sure. Who wouldn’t be? But she’d also been excited, and she had tried to let the excitement win over the nerves. That she knew of, it had worked well enough. She hadn’t been a wreck for one thing. That was good news.

She was, however, a little surprised to hear that it had been her father who had insisted on the workout program. Then again, when he told her father’s reasoning, it sounded a lot more like him. She smiled. “I hope he didn’t work you too hard.” She might have to have a word with her father about running her boyfriend into the ground. But from what she could tell, it had worked splendidly. She ran her fingers over his four pack again. And smiled at him. “But you do look amazing.”

She paid some attention to Aurum when he – he, right? – padded in before looking back to Jason. And immediately regretting it. That look in his eyes, as thought she’d said something horrible. She straightened up, ready to wrap her arms around him and beg forgiveness. The hurt in his voice too, it was too much. “Jason… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean. I just meant that you must be tired and, well, you’re keeping a low profile for a reason. I don’t want to spoil you getting your life back together. Getting settled in again. That’s all I meant. I don’t want to leave, not at all. Just that if you needed me to, I would. That’s what I meant.”

She was about two seconds from hugging him when he came towards her anyway. She paused, and couldn’t help but smile a little at that smirk on his face. Something had shifted; that much was certain. And now she wasn’t sure what she was up against. She just stood there, watching him and trying to figure out what on earth had just happened, when he whispered in her ear. Chills ran down her spine and her face flushed like a tomato. “Jason!” But she laughed all the same and gave him a coy look. “So… to your room then?”

He had to do a double take on what he just heard in response to his provocative statement. Did Clare really ask that? What was he going to do? Well, he had a few ideas thanks to hormones but while his urges might be rising, some ways more obvious than others, he still cared about Clare. But, by the gods, he just wanted to hold her close and never let go. He wanted to be with her, to feel her next to him. It had been so long since he had seen her and perhaps that was why he was acting less controlled than he had previously but time could do that to you. After all, he had spent countless nights just thinking about her, his longing had grown to an exceeding moment. Still, he didn't want her to feel forced into doing anything just because he suggested it. He honestly expected to get slapped in the face for his statement before anything.

He looked down at her, knowing she was waiting an answer so instead of leaving a long silence making it awkward or for him to say something that could end up being awkward and maybe with Clare getting upset, he just leaned down and kissed her. He added passion into it, putting every night he had thought about her before he had fallen asleep into the kiss. He ran his hand down from her wavy blonde hair, tracing her spine and resting his hand on the small of her back while his other hand got lost in the strands of her hair. Jason was taking her in. Her smell, the feeling of their lips meeting, the warmth of her. All the things he had almost forgotten due to their lack of physical communication over the past months.

He was starting to get lost in the moment, kissing her. Poor Aurum probably felt like the worst case of third wheel possible. Loyal though that dog must be it must suck for him if he wasn't one for the romantic sort. Yet the dog remained fixated to its duty of staying within range of Jason just in case some fellow made an unanticipated entrance. Speaking of someone making entrances. It would be extremely awkward if the other praetor decided now would be the perfect time to make his way back to the principia. Jason really might need to talk about some form of a bro code with Remus. After all they both had girlfriends that they liked to be with. Remus easily could go to Felicitys apartment, that should obviously leave Jason with the principia. At least for the moment.

She laughed at his reaction. He certainly looked stunned for a second. “Jason, I didn’t mean it like that! You are going to have to wait until wedding night for that one, mister! All I meant was-” She was going to say something along the lines of only wanted to get them out of the middle of the entrance area, for the sake of the dogs and anyone who might want to wander in unannounced or something like that. To just be alone together, not necessarily to do anything. She just wanted to snuggle up by his side again. How she’d missed that! How she’d missed him. But she supposed giving him a moment of ‘what on earth just happened?’ was rather funny too. So perhaps it wasn’t all a mistake. Just a funny happenstance.

Well, that was what she had planned on saying. Planned on doing. Nothing to do with… with that. But he quite cut her off. She hadn’t expected in the slightest the most passionate kiss she was pretty sure they’d ever shared. Also, one might note, still in the entrance area. But she hardly cared at this point. The more important thing was being with Jason. And it was an easy thing to get lost in, situation considered. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back, putting into one kiss every moment that she had missed him, every prayer she had sent up for him, every teary night wishing he was here. All the times she had missed him more than the world, had worried about him, all wrapped up in one kiss. Either way, it was the best kiss she’d ever known.

She hardly wanted to break it, but she supposed five or so minutes –she’d quite lost track of time – was quite enough for one kiss. So she broke it, as much as she didn’t want to. She ran her fingers through his hair as she gazed into his eyes. “Sorry about, you know… I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant away from the front door.” She laughed. “Not that I’m complaining about your kisses, no matter where they are, just thought we’d spare the public. Keep your low profile low a little longer.” Then she did the only thing sensible, despite her words otherwise: she kissed him again, once again just as passionately as before. Gods, how she’d missed him.

As she stumbled trying to explain herself after the kiss Jason couldn't help but smile, then he was surprised as she kissed him just as passionately. Right, just wanting to keep the low profile. He was a guy, this was becoming torturous, but he respected Clare. Jason pulled away from the kiss this time and looked down at her with a loving gaze. "I love you, and you're beautiful." Jason said as he lost his hand in her hair for a second before stepping away from her.

She was right. They really did need to get out of the doorway. Remus might have the unfortunate luck to walk in on the two lovebirds, or one of the centurions. But, where to go? Jason didn't really feel like heading to New Rome, too many people. Too many people in camp too. He grabbed Clares hand and started to lead the way down a hallway in the direction of the Praetors bedrooms. "How about, you tell me how camp has been while I was away. How you were." Jason said as he reached his bedroom and he opened the door, getting greeted with a slightly musty smell that partners up with the air in a room once it has been abandoned for a period of time. He let out a bit of cough. "Door stays open." Jason said giving Clare a slight amused smile. Hoping that door staying open help her to understand he wasn't going to try anything. He was serious. Why not just talk about their time away from each other, and at the most they could cuddle. That way as they talk about their time away from each other they can be reminded that they were together now. For now until forever.

Perhaps Jason should have the courage like Remus and officially propose to Clare. He loved her immensely, that much was obvious. But, they were both still very young. He was worried about what may happen in the future. He was hesitant almost. It was stupid and made him sound weak and he is never going to admit it to anyone. He needed to get his mind of that matter. It was an internal debate best saved for a different day.

Jason walked over to his bed and plopped down on it, spreading out. "Gods, I've missed my bed. Sorry Clare Bear, you might have to sit on the floor." Jason teased. He would never make Clare sit on the floor. He scooted over and left space open for her to get comfortable on too. He was a bit of a gentleman, sometimes.

Clare pretty much melted in his arms. Which was easy to do with him anyway, so no surprises there. He was by a mile (or twenty) the most gentlemanly, romantic, heroic guy in this camp. Definitely. And that look he gave her made her feel so warm and loved. The feeling of his hand in her hair, his free arm securely around her. She felt safe, like there was no war coming at all, like nothing in the world could separate them. Happy. Everything was perfect. “I love you too. And you’re very handsome.” She smiled and was in the process of closing her eyes and leaning her head on his shoulder when he pulled away, which made her feel a bit foolish as she barely kept from losing her balance. Whoops. She hoped he didn’t notice that one.

Though before she could stew on that much longer, he took her hand and started leading the way to what she was pretty sure were where his and Remus’ bedrooms were. “Wait, I thought you-…” She was officially confused. Which didn’t take much at times – she had a propensity for getting lost and the like – but still. Until he spoke and it made a little more sense. She smiled. “Alright, that sounds perfect.” She held back the urge to wave her hand in front of her nose when he opened the door. It was obvious he hadn’t been here in a while. She wished she’d thought to come keep his room tidy and ready for him while he was gone. She mentally scolded herself for that one. Well, hindsight is 20-20 they always say. And she’d have to remake his a batch of the cookies she’d brought to his office the day he and Remus went missing. She’d had to donate those to the kids of New Rome long ago, with a heavy heart. But she would simply have to make him some more. Maybe surprise him with it; how she loved to surprise her perfect boyfriend with something nice and personal. Though for right now, it was her turn to be surprised by his sudden return. And it was definitely the best surprise she’d had in a very, very long time. She giggled when he said the door would stay open, though she wasn’t entirely sure if that was for the smell or to prove his good intentions. Maybe both. “Alright, deal.”

She smiled and watched as he took in his good old bed and the familiar surroundings of his room. He looked so happy to be back, and she couldn’t blame him. He’d been gone so long, of course he would love being back. Just little things like having his old mattress back to lay on, even if it smelled a little funny. He didn’t seem to care, and she certainly didn’t mind it either. Just seeing him happy made up for everything. “I bet you have!” she said as she started to move to sit on the floor. She really wouldn’t mind at all having to sit on the floor. Just as long as she was with him. But he scooted over, which wasn’t surprising really. Had she mentioned how gentlemanly he was? She straightened up and walked over, pulling off her tennis shoes so as not to dirty his bed, and climbing up on it beside him. She curled in close to him, one arm around him and her head on his chest. “Well, let’s see. All the cohorts have been ramping up training, which I suppose is to be expected. Same as before the last war really. Some more people went missing, but Remus is probably better the one to fill you in on that part of it. Morale has been… hard to pin down. Some people have been really positive and others are predicting doomsday. Though I’ll have you know I caught even August smiling the other day, so that’s something.” She laughed softly. “As for me… well, I’ve missed you of course, but I’ve kept up training and the like just like normal. Trying to keep things as, well, regular as I can. But I admit even I have been having a hard time keeping positive. Though now that you’re back…” She left it hanging, figuring it was implied that Jason being back most certainly meant a happier Clare.

Jason traced circles on Clares shoulder and back as she cuddled close to him and told him about her life while he was a prisoner. He let out a chuckle at the thought of his brother August smiling. That was a rare sight indeed. He made a mental note to figure out the reason behind his smile. It must be something important. However, as she admitted how much she had missed him he couldn't help but hold her against him a little tighter, as a reminder to both of them that this was really happening, that they really were together and that the nightmare of him being away was indeed over. He smiled as she finished and lightly kissed her forehead as he held her close. Enjoying this little moment of silence and warmth between the two of them.

Finally, he released the tight hold on her and went back to tracing the circles on her shoulder, back and even daring down towards her waist. "Now that I'm back, I'll make sure you have a smile on your face every day. From now until our last breaths. I promise you this." Jason said softly, as he finished a small yawn escaped him. It had been a long day for him. The return back to camp, dealing with the infirmary and then the excitement of seeing his Clare Bear again. It was starting to affect him. While he may hold a leadership position he still had some aspects of a lazy eighteen year old. He would like nothing more than to go to sleep, preferably with his hand snugly around Clare and his face nuzzled in her hair, taking in her scent with each breath he took. But, he knew Clare was excited to see him and he didn't want to take that away from her due to his lack of energy. No, he could fight through it. He fought through drowsiness before, why should now be any different?

Maybe it was harder because he was so comfortable at the moment. The soft, plush bed beneath him with the comfortable pillow cradling his head and him being given the best warmth via the lovely lady cuddled against him. Gods, this was the moments he lived for and hoped to remain living for forever. Just him, relaxing, with the love of his life tangled up against him. He wanted to wake up with her next to him, he wanted his day to brighten up with her smile and he wanted to make her happy and keep her safe. Since their first date Jason was sure this was the woman he was going to marry and moments like this only reassured him that this was the girl he would forever live his life with.

Sure, Clare had heard plenty of times that no one was perfect, but she was pretty sure that was wrong, considering Jason and all. He was the best boyfriend in the world. No doubting that. Mmm, it felt so good to be in his arms again. She felt safe, at home, at complete peace. She could stay here forever. Skip the war. Just stay here with him. But no, she knew camp needed him; it wouldn’t be fair of her to steal him away. Though if it kept him safe from harm… That was something she wanted more than anything. Since he had been taken from her and taken captive, she’d worried her head off about him. Now he was back, she wanted nothing more than to keep him here and safe. She didn’t want to follow him into war! Not that she mistrusted his leadership; quite the opposite. She would follow him anywhere. But to war? She didn’t want to see him on the front lines. What if something happened? What if he d-… no, she couldn’t think of that. He would make it. He had to. They had a long happy life together yet to live.

She snuggled into his warm embrace, cherishing every moment of it. When he released the tight hold, she was admittedly a little disappointed, but the fact remained that he was still there and that was what mattered. And she had to admit, his harmless little doodling felt really good. Though his hand tracing down to her waist gave her chills and sort of tickled, but in a good way for sure. She met his eyes and smiled. “As long as you’re here, I’ll always be smiling. You make me so happy.” She paused when she noticed the yawn and had to stifle a yawn of her own. Darn those contagious things! She smiled and held the side of his face in her hand. “Rest, my knight in shining armor. The gods know you’ve been through a lot lately; you probably need it. I’ll be right here. I don’t have anything the rest of today, so I can stay here as long as you want me here. Well, until training tomorrow.” She laughed softly and snuggled in closer. With her arm around him, she began to run her hand up and down his spine and across his back lightly. “Go ahead and sleep, I’ll be right here.”
