Edmund had never really thought about his ability to make things as a power. When he was little, he just liked doing it as a past time. Wood understood him, people (outside of his intermediate family) didn't. It was only until he entered Camp and learned about the Ancient Roman world filled with gods, satyrs, demigods, and legacies, that it kinda clicked with him: it counted as a power. Everyone here had powers. It was like a super power Legion of soldiers or whatever. It had kinda been cool after the first week of him getting over and accepting all of the seemingly impossible information that they were shoving at him. Of course, at one point or another, he had seen Batman, Spiderman, The Hulk, all of those Marvel super heros. He may have been intolerant of books, but comics, movies, and TV, he could stand every now and again. He would be lying if he didn't imagine that he could be some cool superhero at least once in his childhood. Then the fire happened and goodbye childhood. Then again, he only had one year left of it in retrospect. If the fire hadn't beaten out his youth, then the Legion would have.
He nodded slightly as she agreed with his way of thinking. The times where someone would agree with Ed's thought process were few and far between. Then again, he thought of his ability to forge less as a power and more as a talent. Anyone could get good at carving, smithing, and crafting if given some time. The other cabins had actual powers: Venus could charm speak; Apollo could heal; Pluto could summon spirits; Neptune could manipulate water; Jupiter could control only gods knew what in the sky; Ceres could make plants grow out of the gods forsaken ground; Mercury could teleport themselves and so on. For him, it was more nurturing and expanding his talent. Everyone else would have to learn how to use and control.
The dark haired boy just looked at her and processed what she said about shadow traveling. She had to train, it was hard to control, she was still deposited at the wrong places, and it was tiring. That would probably make him frustrated beyond belief. Edmund nodded. "Sounds like apparition in Harry Potter," he noted in his usual voice. The three Ds: Destination, Determination, Deliberation. Ed looked at her. "So you have tried to get out and see the world," he said after he realized that she had said that she had been aiming for England. "Good for you," he said, a very slight smirk flashing across his face. Edmund nodded as she mentioned that it tired her out. "Physically draining. I can only imagine." He wondered if the Mercury kids felt the same way after they teleported. At least when he decided to turn out a factory worth of wood carvings or weapons he didn't get energy zapped. Maybe tired from pulling an all nighter, but it was different. He was quite happy that he didn't get tired after forging, if he did, that'd mean sleep. Sleep was never good for him.
As Felicity backed away, Edmund fluidly moved the blade down in an arch so that the tip was facing the floor. "No problem," he murmured, extending the hilt of the blade towards its owner. It was just his job. One that was expected of him and that he rather enjoyed, but just his job none the less. "It was half of yours too, you know," he reminded her. Edmund may have been cold, but gave credit where it was due. This time, the handiwork had not been all his own. At her question, he looked up again. What else could children of the forge do besides weapons and armor? He gave a slight shrug. "Build things... invent things... make things that involve technology and animatronics, or carving and crafting... or all four. Dunno, guess it depends on the kid."OOC: Mmmk
