The morning was still early, but Rhiannon sat upright in her bed, her heart beating a mile a minute. It had taken her nearly a month to think about, nearly a month after Jason put that idea in her head. The idea that she liked Josh as something more than a friend. She didn't know what was going to happen, she knew he probably never thought of her that way. She had not for sure, they had always been together and her feelings towards him bordered that of a family member. The ugly feelings Jason brought to the surface pushed her feelings for Josh off that border, she knew she had to tell him. It was not her way to keep things to herself anyway, she told Josh anything. Staying in the shadows, hiding ones feelings, stupid things like that were not for Rhiannon. She didn't even think they were for any roman.
People began to rise around her, surprised to her her awake, and cognitive. Finally she got out of bed, and looked down at a pile of make up and hair ornaments she had gathered over time. Mostly it was just things that suited her fancy, and even a few others offered or bought her. She had tested them out in secrecy, and tried applying what little she knew to her face. Light natural looking was supposed to be the best, but that did not last long. A few daughters of Venus saw her, and in their excitement did her make up and her hair. Rhiannon had always been a tomboy, not dressing up or even seeing reason to unless for some special event, which she normally avoided anyway.
When the girls were done with her they helped her sneak out, and though Rhiannon had a naturally low respect for the children of Venus she did feel thankful for them today. Looking at herself in the mirror she knew by herself she'd have never pulled off what they had. Just before she left she gave Inek orders to find Josh, and bring him to the lake. If she was going to confess she had to do this thing right, no half thought plots for this or anything else. She doubted he saw her as a woman, and this was the best idea she had to change his view of her if even for a moment. Then he could say whatever he wished, which for the most part she had resigned herself to be a let down. She had been his little sister so long, she was pretty sure he would see her as nothing more.
Standing by a secluded part of the lake Rhiannon looked at her own reflection in the crystal clear waters. A warm wind blew for the first time in a long time, and she wondered if some god somewhere had done it on purpose. It was the perfect day. It could have also just been the mother daughter reunion from the underworld was going well. The yip of her small fox came to her ears as she spun around, her dress floating around her. Her cheeks did not need the blush that had been put on them, she blushed as she smiled at Josh. “Hey, hope you don't mind playing hooky with me for a little while.” her heart speed up, and she wondered if the tightening feeling in her throat would actually allow her to talk today.
