Levi was totally excited about tonight. It was Valentine’s Day but that was always a favorite holiday for kids of Cupid and Venus. But today was a day they could really shine. Today was about spreading the beauty and the joy of love, loving others and being loved. Levi tried hard to exemplify that year round. But today would be fun. Levi spent a little extra time in front of the mirror. He shaved and made sure to put on some good smelling cologne, Polo in the little green bottle by Ralph Lauren. It was his favorite smell and at least being a kid of Venus, he could have a little control over his dress and looks for the night. Levi put on a slightly pale purple shirt to go with his black slacks and jacket. He made sure that his tie was tied properly and was perfectly adjusted to the right height. There was totally an art to this. Levi sat down and polished his shiny black shoes so he could see his reflection in them perfectly. “Perfect” he muttered as he headed out to purchase something to give to Vivian on this little date that Cupid had set up. Levi made a mental note to thank cupid for the set up.

Levi looked dapper as he plopped his fedora on his head before walking out of the barracks. Of course there were always the usual things that one would get a girl, flowers, chocolates, and of course the ever favorite thing, promises no one intended to keep. But Levi wasn’t a typical guy. He knew exactly how to think outside to box. Of course he purchased a massive stuffed animal for her; it was wearing a nice necklace he had picked out. Levi walked into New Rome, since Vivian was a civilian now, she wasn’t at camp and he could go and totally pick her up. He was checked in by Terminus, who gave Levi the mental pat down. But since Levi didn’t have anything to declare, other than the stuffed Roman Hello Kitty, Levi made his way into new Rome. The signs of Valentine’s Day were everywhere; even the coffee shops were packed. The Florist was completely out of flowers and the one guy who normally sold the good Italian chocolates was being swamped by legionnaires who hadn’t planned ahead. Idiots. Levi made his way to the apartments and he quickly located Vivian’s window before pulling out his guitar.

Levi took a sip of water to clear his parched throat, and then he started to strum his guitar to get Vivian’s attention outside of her window. He was a bit nervous before he licked his lips and started to sing. It was totally out of the ordinary for him to do something like this. A few people started to toss some denarii into his guitar case like he was some of the street musicians that generally made their way around new Rome. He didn’t much care that there were people watching him and a crowd had started to gather. His mind was totally focused on getting Vivian’s attention.

Vivian has asked Cupid not to be a matchmaker with her. She didn't need to be on a date, she didn't need that kind of love or affection. She wanted to keep everyone safe, all the men who had loved her were dead in that moment, all of them but her father, so she knew after Michael died that there was no romantic love in her future. But after a few moments she spent with Levi, her determination of not falling in love again was crumbling.

She saw the note that cupid sent telling her she was going to date Levi on the Valentine's Ball. She almost cursed Cupid as she did the time she lost Michael. She asked for her mother's advice, how could she win that battle? If she didn't go to the ball, then she would hurt Levi, and the last thing she wanted to do was to hurt that amazing man. If she went, then she would totally fall for that man! He didn't deserve to die so young, just to be with her!

After thinking for hours, she decided to go, but she was trying to convince herself that she would be going with a friend, only a friend and that Levi didn't want anything else with her, but a nice, pure friendship. after she had set that image in her mind, she went to some stores in New Rome. After a long time and several stores, she decided to buy a beautiful blue dress. It was kind of hippie style, vaporous and with the color of a deep, clean, bright night.

The day of the Ball, she had a nice hot shower and then put her dress on. She looked into the mirror and sighed. she looked nice and sweet. For a roman girl, it was rare to see herself in a nice Ball gawn. She smiled at her reflection and then sat on a small stool to put on her black shoes. they were also new, a few dracmas she spent on them, but she was satisfied with that purchase. then she put on some make up and from time to time she found herself smiling and blushing, she was thinking on Levi when she did so.

After some hours, she got ready and she felt her heart beating fast. so she breathed deeply and tried to calm down, she grabbed her purse and before she walked to the door, she heard the notes of a guitar. She frowned and blushed. "no way..." she said and walked to the window. She looked down and there he was, Levi was down there playing his guitar and singing to her. She smiled like a fool but in the most sweet way. She loved that Levi was so romantic.

She went to the door and then ran down stairs, she walked off the building when he was still playing his guitar, maybe the last notes of the song. "That was a beautiful song..." she smiled at him and felt how her heart was beating fast, faster than ever, even more than in a battle! "I thought we would meet at the Ball..." she said and then blushed a bit more when she realized about the people surrounding them.

Levi wasn’t too sure that she would care for his song or his rather flamboyant actions. The other citizens of New Rome, however, seemed to love what he was doing. They cheered for him and tossed more denarii in his guitar case, he was totally making enough denarii to by a new chariot or guitar. He was totally trying to up the cheesy factor right now. He wanted something that Vivian would remember and treasure for the life to come. He knew she had some problems in her past, he had done some digging with some of the veterans that personally knew her and he had found out about her previous boyfriend. It was a rough time; Levi knew what it felt like to lose someone, but not to the same degree that she did. HE would try his best and would do his damnedest to make her want to love again. He really thought his mom was trying to send him a sign. That Levi needed to show Vivian how there was more beauty and there was more love out there in the world. HE would try his hardest to show her that the world was beautiful. Besides he really cared for her too.

He saw the grin on her face and he saw the shine in her eyes. It was little things that made people the most beautiful. She quickly came down from her apartment and Levi couldn’t help but grin at her. “you look beautiful” he said as he gently kissed her hand. “I know I said we would meet at the ball, but I wanted to surprise you. I know it’s totally cheesy but I don’t care.” Levi flashed her a grin as the crowd dispersed and someone from behind yelled the ever present ‘play some freebird!’ before walking off. Levi shook his head; there was always that one idiot in the crowd. Then someone yelled ‘kiss her!’ and Levi gladly obliged. He gently kissed her cheek before whispering in her ear, “Even my own mother couldn’t look as beautiful as you do right now. The stars would weep to see your face for their own light is unworthy to look upon such radiance.” The words started to flow from Levi’s lips in an eloquent manner. Levi blinked; this must have been his grandfather talking right then. The words were beautiful and sometimes the gifts he received from his grandfather came out in spurts. Sometimes it was great, other times it was stupid.

“Sorry, sometimes that stuff comes out in spurts at the strangest times. But here, this is for you.” Levi handed over the two foot tall hello kitty dressed in roman armor. Well it was felt roman armor. Not real of course. “Happy Valentine’s day!” Levi proclaimed as he gave another cheesy grin. He totally wanted the day to be good for her. He offered her the crook of his arm to help her walk to this shindig that was going on. He was totally trying to be a gentleman tonight. He didn’t want to be a barbaric person that was for sure.

When Vivian walked out, she felt the looks of all the people out there on her, but in a way she didn't care at all, The only eyes she cared about were Levi's and they were already looking at her, which didn't make her feel uncnfortable at all, she liked the way he was looking at her. His eyes were telling her she was a jewell, she blushed a bit and then stood in front of him. He finished his song and told her she looked beautiful, then he held her hand and lifted it to his mouth where he kissed it.

She felt chills running down her spine when he touched her skin. she shouldn't be feeling that, she should just tell him she wasn't feeling well, that she needed to stay at home and that she was really sorry to let him down, but no words came from her throat at that moment. Her brain was in a complete mess, it seemed as if the little mouse in her head had just decided to riot and wasn't working at all in her head. She only could smile like a fool, like those kind of girls that she hated so much in chick-flicks or in some magazines. "Thank you..." she finally could manage to say when her brain unfroze for a second.

Vivian breathed deeply trying to get some fresh air into her already burning brain when Levi told her that he knew he had told her to meet at the Ball, but that he thought it would be cheesier to go and pick her up. She didn't want it to be cheesy! She didn't want him to be so romantic! She didn't know how long would she be able to resist Cupid's influence that night and she didn't know if Levi's mother was helping him that night! In few words, she didn't know if she would be able to have a victory that night. But when she tried to say something about leaving, about him going away, about leaving her alone, she simply couldn't do it. She only had to look into his eyes to fall under Cupid's influence.

"I'll have a serious talk with that cheesy God later..." she thought as she smiled at Levi. "It's ok, I liked you being here, It was really nice of you..." she said and then rolled her eyes when a guy yelled at him to play a freebird, then smiled again at Levi. "I'll kick his podex in a training later" she winked at him and smiled a bit more. Then another guys yelled him to kiss her, she opened widely her eyes and knew that she would find out who had yelled that and she would for sure defeat him in a training match. But she couldn't think much of that because Levi got closer to her.

Her heart was beating faster, she could feel it hitting her rib cage really hard. Was he really going to kiss her? Just like that? she looked up at him, Gods! He was so tall that even wearing her heels, she still had to move her head backwards to look into his eyes. But he didn't kiss her lips, he kissed her cheek, her heart didn't calm down, but her mind could think a bit clearer. She smiled when she felt his lips on her cheek and then listened to his voice, feeling his warm breath over her skin. He compared her to his mother and to the stars, she smiled a bit more and shook her head slowly biting her lower lip.

"Be careful Faollan, if she listens to you, I could end up being transformed in some kind of creature or having to look for you as Psique had to do with your brother Cupid." she moved just a little so she could look into his eyes. She smiled again and blushed a bit more. Then he apologized for his cheesy words. "In fact, those were beautiful words." She said and then looked at the two foot tall Kitty Cat, how did he knew that Kitty Cat was her favorite one?! When she lived in the outside world, her father used to give her a little one each year on her birthdate.

"Thank you!" She said and smiled looking at it. "She looks so cute with the armor!" She said a bit excited. Then she looked at him and sighed. "Let me put this little one in my apartment, I don't want anyone ruining it in the Ball." She said thinking on Felicity, daughter of Pluto, that girl was really crazy. She went into her apartment again and put the Kitty Cat on her bed and smiled at it, she breathed again and then closed her eyes. "Mother... please... help me because... because I'm going to lose this battle..." she thought feeling how Levi's words were still echoing her mind and over all, her heart.

She walked downstairs and smiled at Levi again. She grabbed his arm crook and then before walking to the Ball, she stepped on her toes as a ballerina and kissed his cheek. "ok, then... lead the way" she said and also put her other hand on his arm as they walked together.

There was a feeling of shock, like someone had stuck him in a light socket. He felt as if he tried licking an outlet. But that was beside the point, it was a good feeling and Levi reveled in the tingling sensation that raced across his skin. His heart pounded and he dropped her hand and gently kissed her lips. Levi licked his lips as he pulled away from her. “You’re an amazing woman, you know that right?” But his cheeks flushed and He looked away before adjusting the tie that went with his suit. He considered the things he said and he meant every word that came out of his mouth. He would never say something that he didn’t mean in full. He wanted to make her feel as if she was his whole world. That’s how a man should really and truly treat a woman. Or at least how a real Roman man should act, but Levi’s idea of a real roman and the ideas of what other people thought Romans should be like were two different things. Romans shouldn’t just fight nor do manly things, they should show the same passion as a lover as they did as fighters.

“My mother would be fool to not acknowledge your beauty of spirit that outshines even the brightest of lights and consumes the darkest of corners.” There it was again, the gifts of his grandfather coming out in bursts. Why in the seven depths of hell did the eloquence only come out when Vivian was around? But once again he meant every word he said. He wanted her to feel special. “I’m sorry once again my grandfather’s gifts tend to come out when I least expect them too.” His ears turned red as he took out a handkerchief out and wiped the forming sweat from the top of his shaved head. Never before did Levi notice how beautiful New Rome looked right about now. Things changed when there was someone you cared about right there in front of you. You got tunnel vision and nothing else bothered you. Levi stared directly into Vivian’s beautiful eyes. He looked away, not wanting to seem like a creepy guy. But he probably really far surpassed his creepy ick factor.

“I’m glad you like the kitty. I wasn’t sure what to get you. It’s always hard to get stuff for people you like because you’re worried they won’t like it.” It was true, Levi fretted about whether she would like the gift or not for days after he got it for her. Twice he almost returned it to the stall where he purchased it in the Forum. Levi started to escort her to the mess Hall. “You should see what they did to the Mess Hall, it looks pretty cool.” Levi had taken a peek earlier on his way here. He had to at least try to get a good look. He was quickly shooed away by the wind spirits and told to not come back till it was time for the date. He escorted her past Terminus who was busy yelling some obscenities at some new probie who had decided to try to sneak a sword into New Rome. “New kids… they never learn.” Levi shook his head. He worried about the little kids in the Legion though.

“Ahh here we are. Let’s go find us a table.” Levi held the door open, waiting for Vivian to walk through.

Levi was so close that vivian could feel his warmth on her cold skin, it always happened in winter time, her body could never get it's own warmth and was always a bit colder than other bodies, even wearing coats. That night wasn't an exception, even with the weather control around the camp, she was still a bit cold and he seemed to be always warm. Perfect match would say her father, something about a ying and a yang. But thenhe dropped her hand and got even closer, he joined his lips to hers which made her first open her eyes as plates, then closed them tightly as she felt how his skin was sending a thousand volts through her skin to her body, yet it didn't hurt at all, it was a pleasent feeling!

Then he broke the kiss and Vivian felt as if he had just taken some of what she needed to live with that kiss, as if his lips were something she needed to survive, his bare touch. "For sure it's Cupid magic all day long... right? I couldn't feel like this just with a kiss and a song!!" She thought when she looked into his beautiful eyes. She felt she was betraying Michael in so many ways, also she feared for Levi's life, what if something bad happened to him?! she wouldn't be able to survive! She would curse the gods and would never call herself a roman again! But that was crazy right? It for sure had to be Cupid's power that night!

Levi then asked her if she knew how amazing she was. She smiled and blushed even more and shook her head. "no... I didn't know I was amazing at all" she smiled and felt her heart pumping her blood really fast all over her body. She saw him adjusting his tie and she smiled at him a bit more, then he was as nervous as she was? Then he told said that comment about his mother, she shook her head and smiling like a fool she replied at his words. "you know that a comment like that one started a little fight in a place called Troy... right?" she winked at him and placed a hand on his cheek, then she wnt to put the Kitty in her dorm and when she came back and started walking with him, she replied about his comment about the gift.

"When a gift is given with the heart, then it is a perfect gift" she said and leaned a bit her head to his arm as they walked to the Mess Hall. "and for the record, I love cats." she smiled and looked up at him. "I didn't go back to the Camp, not since Cupid sent the notes with the invitations" she shrugged and then smiled again at him. she heard how Terminus was scolding a probie about a sword. She had seen that many times, she had been in that situation too once or twice in the past. "No, they must live that to learn, like most of us did, I include myself in that group" she giggled remembering the day she got caught by Terminus, she was only 14 years old back then.

She looked inside as she walked in. It was beautiful! For sure Cupid himself had been supervising everything! Soft light, candles, lights, soft music too, everything to make a perfect environment for love, that god really knew his business. "this looks amazing! your brother did a very good job in this place." she said and smiled at Levi, it was kind of special that his brother was god of love and emotions and his mother was goddess of love and beauty. Well, Levi had in him the best of her and the best of his grandfather, Apollo.

"Look, there are some free spots over there" she pointed at a table with two free seats. They walked to the table and she sighed still feeling his warmth, she felt a knot in her throat, why did Levi had to be so amazing?! Why did he wanted to be with her?! didn't he know that his life was in danger if he was with her?!

“I would fight a thousand and one wars before I would let you get away.” Levi said with a simple voice. He didn’t want to sound like some overzealous roman twit. But he would go to the ends of the earth to fight for her. “I would stand at your back that the world might never over take us, I would raise my sword to meet the blood of your foes and I would raise a glass to your name so the halls would ring of the stories of my love for you.” Levi lowered his voice for only her to hear. Vivian was something worth fighting for. Unless she didn’t want him. He would back off if she didn’t want him at all. But Levi didn’t feel in the least bit like she didn’t want him. Levi was a pretty good sense of emotions, he felt like she really wanted him, but she was holding something back. Levi knew that she had loved and loss, but Levi wanted to make sure that it wouldn’t happen to her while he was around to protect her. He didn’t want to let her go, not in the least bit, not ever.

“Oh yeah? How come? I hope I didn’t scare you from camp.” Levi would feel really bad if that happened to her. Levi didn’t want to be the cause of problems, not for anyone, but especially for Vivian. “I grew up here in New Rome, but I guess I’ve always been around Terminus so it wasn’t anything new to me.” Levi pointed over to a rather nicer looking apartment building, but it was closer to the outskirts of town. “That one, that one there is where I grew up with my little brother and my dad. Levi was glad to hear that Vivian loved cats. “I’m glad you like cats. I was just beating myself up on how cheesy that gift was. But you know people who care about others and want to give them gifts always worry about whether or not they like presents they get them.” Levi nodded as he grinned at her. “Oh you got caught by Terminus?” Levi was curious to her story. “oh please elaborate! Tell me, I’ll tell you the story of the time we spray painted terminus and dressed all his statues up around the Pomerian line like different things.” He remembered that angry pickle coming after him when he was eleven.

“Yeah Cupid knows his love stuff. Maybe I can talk him into helping me write a book. ‘the demi-god’s dumbass guide to love’ catchy title don’t you think?” Levi roared with laughter as he pulled out Vivian’s chair for her to sit. He stayed standing until she was properly seated. He knew proper manners and how to do things in the proper way for a girl. Or a woman, Vivian was for sure a woman. Levi took a deep calming breath before sitting down himself. A wind spirit deposited some drinks before whisking off for the couple here to figure out what they wanted to eat. Levi took a sip of his drink, a mango, pineapple, banana smoothie with a twist of cherry. “That’s tasty. Would you like to try a sip?”

Vivian looked at Levi when he said he would fight for her, that he would do whatever it took to keep her safe, to be with her. In other words he almost told her that he would go to Tartarus and come back if it was necessary to keep her safe. She slightly frowned at him and shook her head, but she didn't say a word. She couldn't say anything, whatever she replied to that would be either cheesy or desperated. She didn't want to sound like that, she didn't want him to turn away and leave her there, bbut she knew it would be the best thing he could do, leave her there and go away. That way he would live longer than if he stood by her side.

But before she could tell him so, he asked her to tell him about the time she got caught by Terminus. She smiled again, again in that cheesy way, she really blamed Cupid for that behavior! Well, she could tell him that story, it didn't have any kind of Love action in it, just some pranksters and that was it. "I was 14 years old, my friends Maya, Gaia and me wanted to buy some stuff at the Forum, but I forgot to leave my bronze dagger in my cohort. So when Terminus inspected me he found my dagger, I wasn't going to give it to him, it had been a gift..." She stopped for a second. Michael had given her that dagger, now she remembered that. "Fool!!" He closed her eyes and then she breathed in deeply and continued.

"It was a special dagger for me. So I didn't want to leave it back. So I got some severe yells from him, some rude words and my centurion ended up grounding me for a week. It wasn't a real adventure, but I'm sure your story about Terminugraffitti must have a lot of it in it." she wnked at him. as they walked to the mess hall. She sat on the chair and let Levi moving the chair so she got well seated. He commented her about the book and smiled. "Yes, it is a good title, in fact it could be ‘the demi-god’s dumbass guide to love, demi-god-dummy proof.’ " she giggled and then looked around.

She could see a lot of campers there that night, but not many civilians, Levi, other 4 or 6 adults and herself, the others were teenagers. That made her feel kind of old in a way and also kind of sad when she also realized that there were so little adults. Demi-gods didn't have a very high life expectation. Then Levi asked her if she wanted to try his drink. She looked at him and then at his drink, drinking from the same drink was something cheese, slushy, romantic...

"Levi..." she breathed deeply and held the drink then left it on the table. She wanted him to know what was going on, she wanted him to know the truth why she was acting like a bi-polar woman. She held his hand in hers and then she looked into his eyes. "I won't lie here... I really like you, since the moment I met you on that bridge, I have some really strong feeling for you. When you are near me I feel my heart beating so fast I fear it can break my rib box and end up landing on your hands..."

"ok, that was grose, vivian!" she thought and then continued. "You asked if it had been you who kept me away from the camp, well yes... I was afraid to be close to you, I knew that as longer as I kept near you, as deeper I would fall for you, but..." she bit her lower lip and frowned, her eyes were filled with tears that were threatening to run down her cheeks, not very roman at all! "but I don't want you to get hurt and I'm not only talking about your feelings... Levi I have fallen in love before I won't lie. and I don't know if Pluto, Mors, Venus or Cupid have a curse on me, but any man that had loved me, and that I've loved back, had died protecting me..."

a tear finally ran down her cheek, she leaned up and kissed his lips in the most tender way. "I would also fight for you, I would do anything to keep you safe, including not being with you..." she said and then took back her hands and grabbed her little purse as if she was going to leave that place, but something was keeping her sitting in there.

Levi listened to her stories, to the words coming out of her mouth. Levi wasn't sure what to make of them at first, but he was sure that she was being honest with her words. There was a lot of emotion, there was pain and hurt, Levi could see that, hell anyone could see it just by looking at Vivian's eyes. There was also love and care in her words too. His lips pursed together as he bit at his lip. There were quite a few thoughts that were ringing around his brain at this particular time, he couldn't quite concentrate on them all at once, or even one at a time. Levi blinked as his eyes darted over Vivian's face, noticing the tears in her eyes and the way she bit her lip when she spoke. Levi had a great eye for detail, whether it was in the way he dressed (but not according to his mom.....) or the way he played his guitar or sang a song, Levi wanted every detail to be perfect, but this for sure wasn't what he had thought was going to go on. Levi had imagined romantic kisses, holding hands, a gentle caress.... maybe even some candle light and roses. He wasn't expecting her to turn on the water works and blubber about past things. Okay maybe that was a little petty and vain, even for him. Not that Levi didn't have the tendencies sometimes, after all he was a child of Venus.


"I don't think your cursed. In fact I think you might be a wonderful woman." Levi tapped a finger on his chin as he tried to figure out how to phrase his next sentence. "That must be it. You're a wonderful person and your personality is amazing, it's no wonder people will lay their lives down for you." Levi gently raised a finger and took a tear from her cheek and wiped it away. Levi had been holding out for just the right girl. Sure he had dated a few, that daughter of Vulcan, or even that one daughter of Somnus, but none of those other girls compared to Vivian. Okay maybe he was a little partial to that. Levi watched her for a moment be fore continuing to speak. "You're a strong woman, but I get it. You don't want me to get hurt. If you push me away, it will hurt for a bit but I understand why you would be cautious." Levi tapped his finger on the table, running it over the edge of the flatwear. Levi broke eye contact and stared at the golden scroll design on the plates. His brow furrowed as he ran his finger around the outer edge. "If you don't want me, Just say so. I'll leave and I won't bother you ever again." Levi felt as if he might have had his heart shattered, but he would recover soon. Venus kids were known for their emotional resilience.


Vivian made to get up, Levi wasn't going to stop her. If she felt the need to go and collect herself, or if she didn't want to be in his presence, he wasn't going to get in the way of her emotions. He wouldn't guarantee he would be there when she was ready, but he would try. He really cared for Vivan. But sometimes if you really cared about a person, you had to let them go. You couldn't be a dead weight hanging around their neck. Levi never felt the need to push someone or trouble them for things they didn't feel.

Vivian was holding her little purse in one hand when Levi started talking again, he looked as if she had just thrown a bomb right over him, but he was so calm, so selfconfident! Maybe she would have to add that to the list of amazing facts that she loved of him. He started telling her that she wasn't cursed, that she was an amazing woman! his wrods were bitter-sweet to her, she felt flattered by them, but she hated the idea of them. She didn't want to be so amazing if that would meant the death of the ones that loved her and that she loved back!

He said he would understand if she left him, for a second she thought that he didn't care for her, but then she realized about it, he did cared, that was why he wasn't pushing, he was letting her go to find her own way. she bit her lower lip again and sighed, then his next words made her look at him and a slight flash of surprise or gods knew what, flashed inher sight. He asked her to tell him if she didn't want him. She frowned and shook her head in a slow way. "Come on, Vivian!! You are a Roman woman, you should act as one! what would your mother say if you let this so called curse defeat you?! What if only Levi has the strength to survive that curse?! what if Venus or cupid were granting you with a blessing to defeat that curse by Levi's side?! Be brave woman! Be a Roman!"

She smiled gently, sat down, put her purse on the table once more and then put her delicate fingers under Levi's chin and in a gentle way forced him to look at her again. "Levi, if I said those things, were only to warn you, so you know what you were getting into... If I hadn't wanted you, then I wouldn't be here in the first place..." she winked and smiled a bit more. She leaned a bit more closer to him with her usual flirty way of being. She looked up into his eyes and tilted her head.
