The temperature in the United Kingdom was certainly much colder than it was in Camp Jupiter, already down in the forties at the warmth of the day. Nights were even colder. The littlest quester was hunkered down in a bedroll brought from home. It was made for this kind of weather. Warm and toasty on the inside she never had trouble sleeping. The sun peaking up over the horizon caught her eye even before the light spread far enough across the sky to be considered a raising sun. She was up and looking around, all the warmth escaping into the frigid air around her. A small shiver ran through her as she stretched every which way, slowly making her way out of her bundle. Rolling her bed up she strapped the tightly coiled cloth to her bag, buckling it securely in place. The sun finally started to make a semi circle over the horizon, and Lyndis opened the top flap of her bag. There it was, plain as day. A green apple. She frowned at it. She'd have to give Gunnar a piece of her mind when she got back to camp, he left her with a teddy bear with all kinds of things in it and these apples. Everyday. She was a big girl and could take care of herself, still she ate the apples. Everyday, and shared them. She wasn't wasteful, and if she could tell Gunnar to stop she would. She knew it was him, he was the only one to give her apples.
Edmund hadn't been in this cold since he moved out of New York and to freaking California. He didn't remember how well he had dealt with the climate change, but from what he was going through now, probably not well. Besides being colder, the UK wasn't even on the same continent. Climate and timezone change. It was enough to skewer anyone's orientation for a few days. Not that the time zone change had made any difference to him. Most people used the time to tell them when to be awake and when to fall asleep. Since that didn't really hold any real relevance to Edmund though, it was more the climate than the time zone change that decided to mess with his body. It had gotten better over time, but he wasn't ready to think about what would happen once they finally freaking finished the quest and went back to the Legion: back to the extreme heat. The demigod sighed slightly, awake as always. It was someone else's guard duty, but he was pretty much on it too, just lying down. Not like he was going to do anything except lay there on his bedding, breathing, trying not to think too hard, and maybe going into microsleeps every few minutes. He slowly watched his breath cling into the air, lingering before disappearing. He could see his breath. He had used to get excited over that as a little kid. Had he liked the winter? He wasn't sure... Beside him, he saw Lyn rise and start to roll up her things. Deciding that there was no point in even faking that he was asleep or even trying to fall asleep, Edmund sat up, automatically doing a sweep around their patch of claimed earth. Seemed quiet enough. Unfortunately that wasn't going to last if/when Hunter or Rogers noticed they were up.
Looking over at their youngest quest member, Edmund noticed that, once again, she was munching on an apple. She had been receiving them for a few days now. It was safe to say that the first time they appeared, Edmund had been wary beyond belief. Of course, she could have gathered them, but he hadn't seen her do it or anything. That, plus his suspicious nature, and the appearance of apples didn't sit well with him. His agitation was quelled slightly when he had pressed the issue and was told that they were probably being supplied by Gunnar, the same guy who gave Lyn the teddy and phone. Suspicion was put at bay, but not by much; if anything, it just gave away into more aggravation. It was just getting annoying. It was a plain display of showing off that the older camper knew where they were at all times. "Again?" he asked, raising his eyebrows at the fresh pile of apples that were sitting on her pack. "At this rate he should probably just join the team," he growled, rolling his eyes.
Darkness. Something that wasn't unfamiliar to the daughter of Pluto, but this was a soul crushing darkness full of dread. Every now and then a scream would escape from the darkness. It would be a familiar sound too. Felicity ran in the darkness, not sure where, until all of a sudden sunlight nearly blinded her as she looked at a battle field full of her fallen comrades, beaten and bloody. Ethan lied dead with Jason and Clare nearby. As though they were all trying to defend the other. Edmund, surrounded by Cinna, who was crumbled into bits, laid dead on the ground with little Lyn underneath him. Josh and Rhia to one side. Gunnar, Tessa, Charlie, Chris, Lexi, Gunnar, Ronan, August, Lilith, Gabriel, Lance, and the list went on and on. Everywhere around her lay a dead comrade. Then she looked up and stumbling towards her was a Remus, covered in wounds that bleed all around. "It's your fault. You did this! You traitor! Go join him in Tartarus!" Then his gladius came crashing down on her.
Felicity woke up screaming. She hadn't been screaming long, just recently and it was quick. She was covered in sweat from the nightmare and her breathing was rapid. She looked around her eyes crazed. She vaguely saw Lyn and Edmund near each other, probably conversing before her scream broke the silence. She needed to put her game face on. The one night she actually took Ethans advice and went to sleep she was greeted with a nightmare. At least it wasn't a dream with Saturn visiting her. Perhaps that meant she was still safe and her plan could still go through without her dying before it even had a chance of happening. Still, she couldn't let on to the other questers what was going on in her head. True, she had already told Josh and Ethan but it was Edmund and Lyn that she let out of the loop. She didn't want Lyn to do something crazy, which for a little girl she did a lot of, like try to stop her, because that sure as heck wasn't going to happen. Plus, she didn't need Lyn to let the secret loose. Then there was Edmund, one of her few friends she kept while she was all pro-Saturn, and one of the people closest to her, even know. Honestly, she didn't have the heart to tell him. True, she might just be met with a shrug and barely a vocal answer. But it would break her to tell him. Yet, after both of them being awake for her awakening scream, she might not be left with a choice but tell them.

Nightamres were something that Josh had already gotten used to while he tried to sleep. It had not been like that always, no, just recently. Since he decided to betray Saturn. But he knew he would have to keep going, endure it at least until he could save those he had promised himself he would save, Rhia, his siblings, Remus, Felicity... and now he had added to the list the gumpy edmund and the hyper sweet Lyn. He would keep them safe, even if that sent him to the underworld.
He was still asleep when the screams in his nightmare combined in a weird and scary way with a scream outside of his head, which was scarier than the ones in his mind. He opened his eyes fearing that a monster had found their camp and attacked them while he was asleep. He slept little those days, less than his usuall 4 hours per night, but it was ok, he needed to be there for them, he was their leader on that quest after all.
He sat and looked around, Lyn and Edmund were chatting, well as much as you could chat with Edmund, they seemed to be alright, so they weren't in an immediate danger, so he focused his attention in the other questers. He looked for Ethan and Felicity but the first on his view field was Felicity, she seemed to be scared to death, sweaty and panting, but less than a second later she recovered her calm face and he knew what was it, he glanced at ly and Edmund and then looked back at Felicity.
"don't tell me that the electric buzzer that I put under your pillow scared you, Felicity..." he got up with a smirk and knelt by her pillow slid his hand under her pillow and then took an electric buzzer from it, it wasnt there before but he acted as if it was. maybe that would help Felicity to keep longer her poker face. He knew her fears and she knew his, so... he wanted to help her. Then he looked at Lyn and Edmund. "morning!! is breakfast ready?" he smiled as if nothing bad had happened, as if it had only being his joke, if Felicity decided to tell the truth it was her desision.
Everything was going swimmingly, really. It was really early. Ethan was on guard duty again, and he was decently awake this time! Good stuff. Being on guard duty made him feel big and important. Like when he’d helped Felicity out. That had been good, helping her out when she really needed it. Though he wished it had ended with her in a better mood. He got the gist she had still been freaking out. Not that he could blame her. Kind of big news when someone you loved nearly dies. As long as it was nearly though, right? See, something good from all the mess.
Ethan yawned. More from boredom than anything. The sun was getting close to the horizon though, which was good. Almost time to get the others up. And speak of the adorable little sister-figure, Lyn crawled out of bed. He grinned at her and waved, but it was likely lost in the dark. She seemed to be busying herself with her bedroll anyway. He sat up from leaning against a tree and stretched. Just as another figure got up. And judging from the sound of it, it was the ever-delightful Eddikins McFlufferpants. How nice! Grinning ear to ear, he started to get up- when someone screamed. He fell flat on his butt again in surprise. And knew exactly who it was at once. Seeing as no one else in the group likely screamed like that. “Felicity!” He got up and was about to hurry to her side when Josh beat her to it. “Oh… okay. I’ll just… nevermind…” he said more to himself, feeling bad that he hadn’t been able to help her himself. Since that night not that long ago, he’s sort of taken it upon himself to make sure she was safe and happy. Which was hard, but it made him feel like he had a place.
Stupid self-pity would get him nowhere. He was important to people, yes, just they, or rather she, was back at camp. And it was time to get the quest wrapped up so he could get back to her. So he put on a goofy grin to mask any other emotions, his usual tactic, and looked around at the group. “Morning all! Rise and shine!”
It was routine by now, wake up, start the fire try and get things in the pans and make some food. She had everything out in a jiffy, and smiled up at Edmund. He was normally the next one to wake up, at least in her mind he was always the next person to wake. She never thought that he simply started away all night at her side, perhaps not purposefully but that's how it was. Looking back at the apples her face turns a little sour as her nose scrunched and her lips pulled into a frown. "I'm giving him a talk when we get back." she said making sure not to raise her voice. She never liked waking people up, they always did it soon enough on their own with people around them stirring. "Tell him I'm a big kid, I don't need all his help." she said a little frustrated as she scrambled the eggs. She had learned about them at least a little by now, months of being out and she at least knew how to cook eggs for people, though the bacon still scared her. She didn't want to have anything to do with it's popping and burning. She knew how to make scrambled eggs, sunny side up eggs, and could even make omelets. If she had the stuff for it she could make pancakes, but that was a little had to try and mix up.
She hadn't gotten very far when she heard the scream, immediately dropping what she was holding. The pan tilted and fell, scattering some of the eggs it held. The bracelet she kept on her wrist at all times was now in her hands, the scimitar shape fit to her size thanks to Edmund. They'd been attacked in the morning before, and she was expecting something like that again, but it wasn't. Her guard had gone up quickly, but soon fell as she looked a bit worried at Felicity. Josh and Ethan at her side instantly. She turned the weapon back into it's friendship bracelet counter part. Her head tilted a bit when Josh said something about a buzzer? "What's a buzzer?" ever attentive Lyndis, it was always so easy to distract her in conversation.
Her eyes went a little wide a moment, then she looked down and over at the eggs on the ground. "Noo...." she said softly in reply to Josh's question about food. She had messed it up. Slowly she picked up the pan and the spatula, not entirely looking at people. "I'm sorry, I'll make more eggs. The apples are apples so you can eat those." she was still speaking in an apologetic voice, like any little kid who thought they were in trouble. It doesn't take that much to turn her around though, the voice of the ever energetic Ethan brought her attention up again and she smiled up at him. She's made pretty good friends with the legacy of Mercury, and would defiantly invite him to the little family things she did back at camp. Probably everyone in this quest, not that Edmund had ever showed up. He was always invited. "Morning Ethan!! Good job!" if she ever relieved someone from night guard that’s what she would say, but no one seemed to want to let her help keep guard at night. Instead she'd just say it to whomever was awake last.
The seventeen year old's dark brown eyes followed Lyn as she started to go about her usual routine: cooking breakfast for them. Edmund would have helped, just to have something to do, but that entailed being close to an open fire which, even after all this time, he still wasn't comfortable doing. His ADHD then went off on a tangent: how was he going to deal with going back into the forge after six months? Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Why couldn't he just be like any other useful forge person? A small scowl had flashed across his face before he realized that Lyn had continued talking. Well wasn't someone becoming Ms. Independent. He gave a slight nod, and, for a moment, he couldn't help but give a slight smirk, mingled with a very faint look of something that almost looked like pride. He watched the younger girl start to scramble some eggs before deciding that he wasn't doing any good just sitting. Might as well get up. Edmund twisted onto his side and then went to kneel by his sleeping bag, ready to roll it up. This was much better than the morning previous, nothing attack them... he thought to soon. Well, that showed the effects of just allowing an inkling of positive thoughts...
In just a few seconds, things went from as calm as they were going to get (two people up, talking quietly, and starting breakfast) to hectic (someone screaming and food flying). A second later, Edmund was standing, body turned towards the source of the scream and sword out. A second later, he realized that there was no danger. His eyes flashed, taking in Felicity's appearance: wild eyes, shallow breathing, looked like she had been chased down by a ghost... Nightmare. At least, that's what he probably looked like when he got woken up by one. His eyebrows raised slightly and a momentary flicker of concern passed across his face, but he made no comment. Instead, he busied himself with transforming his sword back down into what used to be Charlie's Hello Kitty keychain. Although, he couldn't help but roll his eyes when Rogers made the decision to try to cover Felicity's rude awaking up. Of course, there was no razor. None that Ed could sense anyway. The batteries could have been taken out (like in Lyn's phone), but that didn't make any sense because if the batteries were out, then it wouldn't be buzzing. "An electrical device that vibrates," he said shortly. Breakfast? Seriously Rogers? There were more pressing matters. He glanced over at the ground at the ruined eggs, and then to Lyn as she started spieling apologies. "It's fine, Lyn, nothing to apologize for."
That made four... and then the fifth member of their quest team decided to bounce into the scene: Hunter. With him brought distraction for Lyn, who abandoned her apologies. A slight scoff left his throat as Hunter, cheerful and annoying as always, called a rise and shine. "Weingarten's already taken care of that," Ed muttered, once again glancing over to the daughter of Pluto, his face transformed back into unreadable.

Geesh, who knew one scream could suddenly put everyone on edge. Yeah, what a great start to the morning. Way to go Felicity, give yourself a pat on the back for instigating a heart attack in nearly everyone. She gave Josh a blank stare as he made up the excuse and just ended up sighing, annoyed while giving him an eye roll. Seriously, it was just a dream, no big deal. Though she did feel bad as Lyn looked dismayed at the scattering of egg yoke. The youngest quest member was trying to help out as much as she could.
After giving Edmund a very annoyed look, she got out of her sleeping bag and started to roll it up. "Why not go into town and grab some breakfast?" Felicity said, mainly because she felt bad about causing the uproar this morning that resulted in their uncooked breakfast scattered on the ground. "Besides, this town is right next to stone hedge and tours are free. Least we can do is check out the place again before we infiltrate it. Remind ourselves where the least guards are and what not." Felicity said as she finished securing her bed roll and stood up, running her hands through the tangled mess that was her hair. Good thing she wasn't trying to look her best for any of them because that was obviously not going to happen. Not even if Venus tried to sprinkle some of her good looking magic on Felicity. It was probably near impossible at the moment. Dark shadows followed the underside of her eyes, her hair was matted in some places, she was in need of new clothes and had her own fair share of bug bites. They had been camping for far too long.
She looked at the quest group she was apart of it. It seemed all of them looked like homeless teenagers. The sooner they got back to camp the better, at least for a majority of them. Felicity stretched a bit before letting out a quick yawn. "I think we should infiltrate tonight. It's been long enough. If there was anything guarding it wouldn't they have attacked by now? Surely the scent of five demigods is more than enough to drive whatever monster there mad enough to leave its post." Felicity said before brandishing a smirk. "Unless our horrible BO has masked our demigod scent." Felicity said, hoping to add some humor into the morning since everyone already seemed annoyed.
Josh didn't care if Edmund thought he was a jerk or a fool for playing pranks on the questers, in this case Felicity. why? well it was something easy, he had never cared what Edmund or any other thought of him and in that moment he said he had only to calm people down. He looked at Felicity and saw the roll in her eyes, and he smirked at her. He wasn't doing completely to protect her, he was doing to protect the others.
Lyn didn't have to know that Felicity had nightmares about her future or that he had them too. She only had to worry like she was doing in that moment, for the breakfast, for the way Edmund talked to her or not, for the time Ethan will take her to Dysneyland. Edmund... well for sure that grumpy one had something to worry about, maybe the way to get rid of all of them and be back to his lovely, hot and secluded forge, who knew what his little mind could be worrying about. Ethan... well he wasn't sure but he seemed to be worried about Felicity, about him and about someone back in camp, maybe he will know about it before Saturn Killed him for his betrayal.
So if he had to seem a prankster jerk, to protect them, he would be one. He looked at the eggs and then at Lyn and smiled at her. "don't worry about that, you can give me the burnt ones to me..." then looked at Felicity and thought for a moment, it would be risky to be out there, but he wanted to be back home soon. Then looked at Ethan and smirked, he was telling his brother that he was thinking as Felicity. "ok, the guards will be Ethan and my job, or your beloved zombies." smiles at Felicity. Then looked at Lyn. "pick up that, we'll have breakfast in town. After breakfast we'll divide to check around and cover all of it in little time."
If everything went well, then that very night they would get the relic and finally they would be back home! He needed to be back home. Then he chuckled at Felicity's comment. "nah... I think not even that would cover the awesomity of 5 demigods out here... what do you think Ethan? Lyn? Edmund?" he never talked to Edmund unless it was really necessary or an order.
