Today was the day and Neptune was excited. A week ago he had told both of his kids, via Iris message, that the sailing trip was going to be a week from then. He didn't tell them where but he told them what time to be ready and to just jump into the closest water source and they would be brought to him. Travel by water was way more efficient then air travel or that ghastly shadow travel. Honestly, his brothers were missing out. Another his brothers were missing out on was his adorable kids. Honestly, out of all the big three demigod that were inhabiting Camp Jupiter Neptunes kids were the best. Was that biased? Maybe a little, but he was a god, he was allowed to be biased.

Neptune double checked everything of the boat he chose today. It had a nice Croatian feel to it. Also, it was a pretty good size, this way he and his children would be able to enjoy themselves without being too cramped. The cabin also had some nice features air conditioning, television with a VHS and DVD player, and a radio with a CD player. Of course, he was spoiling his kids a little bit with this type of boat. It was one aimed towards entertaining people. It had six separate cabins and it had many water sport amenities, his favorite included, water skiing. Hopefully his kids would enjoy themselves. Heck, he even planned on teaching them the secrets of sailing, even though he knew that they could probably sail blindfolded without any prior teaching. Oh well, at least they could have something to talk about.

One thing he did pack on the boat was a few drinks for them and some extra snacks, not too much food though. He remembered that Clare said she would cook something for them. That was something he was looking forward to, even if the gods mostly ate and drank nectar and ambrosia, human food was always a relief at times. Once Neptune decided everything was perfect he checked the time. In a few minutes his children would be arriving and then they could sail around San Francisco, maybe even underneath the Golden Gate Bridge, or perhaps Neptune would steer it out into the Pacific and they can enjoy watching dolphins or something. So many ideas. At least they had the whole day and if any centurion or praetor was going to get mad over his kids having a fun day with their Dad then Neptune would gladly turn them into fish, or plankton given the person. Neptune walked over and sat on a lounge chair that was on the ship. He titled down his hat which had Neptunes Favorite Fishing Hat embroidered on it so that the sun wouldn't reach his eyes. Then he begin patiently waiting for his kids, who should be deposited near the pier the ship was attached to. Once they reach the pier they just need to walk down to the only ship attached to it. All the other ships had already left, which worked out as his kids shouldn't have a hard time looking for his ship.

One week ago to the day, her dad had told her they were going on a boating trip. Which meant that that one week had both gone extraordinarily fast and way too slow for her liking. But the day had finally come! And she couldn’t wait another minute. She had gotten up extra early to put together some food, from sandwiches (turkey, not tuna!) and finish up on some cookies and some stuffed potato skins and trying to see if a raspberry pie could safely fit into the basket she was putting together. It ended up looking sort of like food tetris, but it worked out. Sort of. Well, well enough. It would hopefully all be eaten soon anyhow. If it was any good. She was really worried about that one. What if she put all this effort into making something for her dad and brother and it turned up being horrible? That had been bothering her all morning. Well, all week too as she tried to figure out what to make. She didn’t want to ask Alistair what he liked. That would ruin the surprise. So she had to sort of wing it. All she knew was the obvious no fish rule. Which she hated the idea of eating fish anyway so it worked out.

Which led her to where she was right now, at the edge of the lake. Her dad had informed them to jump into the closest water source at a given time. She checked her watch. That given time was in about two minutes. So she hoisted her picnic basket a little higher on her shoulder and looked down at the glistening water. A whole day with her dad and brother. She wasn’t sure how it was going to go, seeing as the last she’d seen of her dad, he’d sort of been threatening very straightforwardly that Jason would be turning into a fish in the near future. She figured maybe if she was lucky and kept her head down about the matter, it wouldn’t come up and Jason wouldn’t be breathing water for a while longer.

As the minutes ticked by, she finally stepped into the lake. As the basket was in her hands, the water didn’t affect it at all and it thankfully stayed dry. As much as she liked the water, it and sandwiches did not mix well. As she stepped further into the lake, she could feel something was different. As she finally submersed completely, she learned what it was. The moment she dropped her head under the water, the scene changed. Still under water, but everything looked different. And she could sense that the water was saltwater instead of fresh like the lake. So she clambered up the beach and out of the water, her and the basket staying dry, and onto a long dock. It looked mostly deserted except for one boat. One big, beautiful boat too! She figured that had to the one, so she set off for it. Sure enough, there was her dad! She beamed like a child’s first Saturnalia and hurried all the more down the pier to the boat. She didn’t see Alistair yet, but trusted he’d be along soon enough. “Dad! It’s so good to see you! We’re going to have so much fun! Look, I brought food!” She hoisted the basket up for him to see as she climbed onto the boat. ‘Excited’ was putting it lightly.
