Ethan felt weird all dressed up like this. And it almost – no, it did – seemed wrong that Jason wasn’t here for him to go to, get pointers from. It was his first Valentine’s Day with a girlfriend, and not just any girlfriend but the best imaginable. Hence why he was dressing up. This was going to be her day, just for her. He wanted her to be completely happy, and he would do anything to make that happen, even if it meant wearing this monkey suit. He fought with the black tie that matched the black suit and contrasted nicely with the white button-up shirt. Nothing fancy, though for him it was. After about what felt like forever, which in reality was more like ten minutes, he fixed the tie what would have to be just right for argument’s sake. It was a little crooked, but it would work. And besides, it sort of fit him, not being completely perfect. And he liked it that way.

He took a seat and set to the arduous task of polishing his shoes. Since when was it normal to polish shoes? They were shoes! They got scuffed up, that was just the nature of the beast. But no, he was going to look good for his girl. He polished the black shoes as best he could until they looked shiny enough. After all, he couldn’t see how they could be any better really. Then he put away the polishing stuff he’d actually nicked from a son of Venus – he’d return it tomorrow – and put the shoes on. The suit itself was a rental, as there was no reason to own one really. Not in a military camp. The shoes were his though, for whatever reason he had them.

Ethan stood up and checked his reflection in the mirror in the barracks bathroom. Not half bad. Wait a minute. He ran a hand through his hair to make sure it stuck up at odd angles. There, much better. He wouldn’t be him if he looked too good. Finally happy with how he looked, he grabbed the little jewelry box with the heart necklace he’d gotten in town yesterday, and made his way to her barrack to wait patiently outside for her.

It was a very important date, Valentine's Day wasn't just another day in a demigod. For humans that weren't related to the gods, it was just a day of love and friendship and a lot of merchandize and buying stuff for the ones that they cared about and also for those that they didn't. lots of red hearts everywhere and people telling each other how much they cared about others forgetting about it almost inmediately after that day. But for a demigod was a day to elebrate love, living love, Cupid. He was a god, the god of love and lust. son of Venus and Mars. And in New rome he was celebrated on his day, plus all the love letters, the merchandize and also a special dinner.

Last year it had been organized by Cupid himself. He had done everything so delicate, so organized, that it would be difficult to get beyond that, this year that dinner had been organized by a Venus son and a Cupid son and it promised to be expectacular! Last year as this one, several campers were going to go, most of them with their romantic partners, others with only friends and other alone just waiting to see where were they led to be sat. Last year... to lilith it had been a very difficult moment, a day where her heart had been broken and not because of a stygean blade, but because of a kiss. That son of Neptune had kissed her making her believe that he really cared, but then he dated that daughter of Jupiter.

Well in that moment Lilith's heart was broken. and for sometime she thought she would never love again. But this year everything was different, she was dating an an amazing guy, he was carying, funny and sweet. He was a perfect gentleman and everything Lilith could have dreamt of her knight in shining armor. she was thinking of him while she was dressing up. She looked for the perfect dress and the perfect shoes, she wanted everything would be perfect, well as perfect as a valentine's dinner with teenagers could be.

She got ready and looked at the mirror, she smiled knowing all of that would worth if he liked it. She walked out balancing on her high heels, that she never wore, but that night would worth it. the moment she stepped outside she smiled at Ethan, who was already witing for her. "you look very handsome." she looked at him and noticed that even with the high heels he was 2/3rds of foot taller than she was. She liked that.

Ethan wondered if he should knock or something. Albeit he’d only been here a grand total of about fifteen seconds. He was antsy, what could he say? Sure, he hung out with Lilith as much as he could, but nothing big and fancy like this. Nothing where people had to dress up, that sort of thing. But he was a man on a mission. He was going to make Lilith happy if it was the end of him. Though come to think of it, that wouldn’t be the best idea to up and die to make your girlfriend happy because that would – at least in the vice versa case – make things worse. Hmm. Anyway. He was going to make sure she had the best Valentine’s Day ever. And it all started right here, waiting outside her barrack with a little jewelry box in his sweaty hand.

Then she came out. He dropped the box, and his jaw for a moment too. “Oh my gods. Lilith. You look… stunning.” He couldn’t take his eyes off her. She looked like Venus herself! Maybe prettier! The dress complimented her figure like it was made just for her, and it sparkled in the setting sunlight like she was covered in jewels. And the matching headband and shoes. Gods, how did girls manage to pull together outfits so well? He felt like a slob next to the goddess he would be going with.

He regained his composure and managed to close his mouth and pick up the little jewelry box. He was grinning like a kid in a candy shop though, which actually was fairly normal for Ethan. “I mean it, you look like-… like-… I don’t even know how to describe it! Fantastic, glamorous, insanely beautiful? Something like that. Just… wow. I mean, not that you don’t always look good, just I’ve never seen you all dressed up before.” Yeah, he should probably shut up now; he was babbling again. “Oh, right! First! I got you something.” He held out the little jewelry box for her. “Happy Valentine’s Day.”

His words were so sweet, as always that he talked to her. but in that moment not only his sweet words, his whole body talked to her, his eyes, his sweet silly smile, his hands, all of him talked to her in that moment and all of him told her and repeated her what his words had just told her, that she looked beautiful. Usually she wouldn't have believed those words if they had come from other person. Maybe not even from Jason, not even Caspian either. But Ethan was the purest soul she hadn't seen or met in her life, so she could definately believe on him.

She blushed more than ever, how was he capable to make her feel as if she was the most valuable and worthy diamond of the world! She then looked at the small box he brought to the dinner for her. She held the box and nervously opened it, inside was a beautiful necklace with a silvered heart, well she thought it was more than beautiful!! it was simple and perfect to simbolize the love among them. she looked back at him with a wide smile and then grinned at him. "This is so beautiful!! I'll never take it off!! Happy Valentine's!!" She hugged him tightly, then looked at him again and taking the chain off the box she turned her back to Ethan and gave him the chain. "can you put me it on?" she smiled again and waited till he put it around her neck.

Seeing her so happy meant the world to him. For a long time now, he had vowed himself that he would never let anything bad happen to this girl. He would protect her with his life. He would make sure she had a happily ever after. Why? Because she deserved one, for one. Second, because he was madly in love with her and wouldn’t have it any other way. On that note, he rather hoped her happily ever after included him, but he would walk out of her life – painfully – if she asked him to. He’d do anything for her. Thirdly, she was just such a spectacular person that she deserved to be happy. Okay, so that was repeating reason one, but who was counting anyway? Apparently he was. Then he’d gladly sit down with pen and paper and come up with a hundred – no, a thousand – reasons why she deserved to be happy. Just not right now, because right now was devoted not to arguing why she should be happy, but instead to making her happy. She would have the perfect night to remember. And then he would make sure she had a thousand more nights to remember. Then, when those were up, he’d top it off with another thousand. Until the Fates decided it was time to reclaim him, he would make sure this fine young lady was happy whatever it took. Starting tonight.

He grinned as she opened the box and didn’t realize until she spoke that he was holding his breath. He let it out with a wide smile. “I wanted something that reflected us. Love at its purest. No bells and whistles attached, just us. And that’s how it should be. Oh, and… don’t worry, I did pay for it. I wouldn’t give you anything stolen, no way,” he added with a laugh. He wasn’t that unsettled by stealing, but when it came to gifts for his girlfriend, they had to be the best and they had to come honestly.

Put it on her? He could feel his hands start to shake slightly for fear of messing it up. He wasn’t exactly the most graceful person in the world; what if he snagged her hair or pinched her skin or something!? No, he could do this. He would! He took the necklace from her and unclasped it, then stepped behind her and draped it over her head around her neck. Thank the gods, it clasped without too much struggle. He carefully pulled her hair out from under the chain and felt his fingers lightly brush the back of her neck, feeling the cool, soft touch. He was pretty sure he was blushing. “Right, right, so, to the dinner!” He clapped his hands and then stepped back in front of her, bowed, and offered a hand. “If I may have the honor of escorting my lady?”

That night was being more than incredible. Not only because of the night itself, Robin and Allan, also little Lyn had done such an amazing job, but also because of the campers in that dinner, all of them had been so worried about war, but that night anything was war, everything was love and caring, so that was what made the night perfect for camp. Then in Lilith's personal point of view, that night allowed her to rest a bit from her camper's life to be a common teen, a girl who was in love and that for some miracle of the universe and Lady Venus, the guy who she loved loved her back.

Ethan was that crazy guy who have dared to love her, he risked himself loving such a wreck of girl, but she was working hard to be the girl she used to be, someone that could make Ethan hunter happy, also a girl who could be happy on her own. a whole of a soul, not the ripped parts she still was. and ion a way his present was perfect in many ways. She looked at the small silver heart and smile thinking of her soul as that heart. slowly little by little her soul had been getting fixed and healed, it will never be a whole again, but at least at some point it would be a physical rememberance that her he had gotten back her soul and heart to her.

"yes!! please my sweet knight!" then she looked at him and smiled widely. "this is so beautiful!!" then frowned. "but I didn't bring a thing to you..." Bit her lower lip and then held from his arm. How could she forgot that!?

Gods, was he ever lucky to have a girl like Lilith for a girlfriend. That was right, world, be jealous. She was beautiful, she was kind, the whole nine yards. And she liked him too! That was perhaps the best part: it wasn’t just him being smitten with a girl, but that girl actually liking him back. A real relationship. His first ever!

And there was that lovely smile of hers. Sweet knight; he would never get tired of being her knight. Never ever. Just has he would never get tired of her being his lady. His elegant, fine, wonderful lady. He beamed when she seemed to like the necklace. Yay! He quietly thanked Lady Venus that that hadn’t been a mistake. Then at her words, he shook his head. “No, no. You’re mere presence is enough of a gift for me. I simply wanted to get you something for the occasion. Our first Valentine’s Day. I wanted you to have something to remember it by. Me, I’m fine.” He gave her one of his goofy grins and offered his arm to escort her. When she took it, he quickly placed a small kiss on her cheek. “Then off we go to the festivities!”[ He couldn’t think of better company for this.

He led the way to New Rome where the dinner was going to take place. The decorations looked great! “Wow, Robin and the gang really outdid themselves!” It was fairly easy to find their table, given the little papers with their names on it. He pulled out her chair for her and then sat down across from her. Soon the first course arrived. For Ethan, loaded potato soup. He took a deep breath of it and his stomach growled. “Mmm, that looks so good!” He dug in. As he ate, he wondered about when they would deliver the valentines and flowers. He was anxious for her to get his letter and flower!

Ethan's words had always been so sweet, he had always known what to say and also how to say it so she felt like the most precious and amazing diamon in the universe. and only Ethan has that kind of magic. she only hoped she had the same magic for him, she wanted him to feel like the most valious thing in the universe too!! "Thank you Ethan, Still I'll make this up for you" she said and held his arm as they walked into the Party hall. well it was more than she had imagined about it!

Everything decorated in such elegant way! She sat down and thanked Ethan for being such a gentleman, then she looked around and noticed the placements, on the table next to hers was her grandfather Apollo and a beautiful Goddess, it was Trivia, how could Apollo be with her? well who knew! But she wouldn't get close to that table! She also could see Tessa with Gunnar, she smiled at both. She was glad that both of them could have a nice good evening. Then... Mors on the next table sitting with Charlie, well at least he looked happy, so she felt joy for her other grandfather.

Then she looked at Ethan and smiled at him. She only hoped her grandfathers behave around Ethan, after all he was more than a prince charming to her, and she was very happy with him.
She got a Minestrone soup, Pistachio-crusted Salmon, Herb rice pilaf, for dessert mint-chocolate Triffle and peach black tea and dark chocolate cookies. She thought it was a world of food, but maybe Ethan would be hungry too and his stomach kind of always showed it. "That looks delicious Ethan! I got Minestrone soup." would Ethan like her letter? or the humble rose she sent to him? She really hoped he did. "so... what else did you ordered for tonight?"

Ethan smiled brightly – which was about the only kind of smile to be found on his face anyway, especially around Lilith – and kissed Lilith on the cheek. “Nah, don’t worry about it. Just the pleasure of getting to date such a wonderful young woman is plenty repayment for me.” He looked around as they entered the hall. Wow. That about summed it up. He let out a low whistle. “This place looks almost as good as you do.” And that was saying something, considering he believed Venus herself ought best to take some fashion advice from the woman holding his arm.

He looked around at the gathered couples – and the singles table too, not to leave them out. Wait, Remus was at the singles table??? Stood up by his own fiancé? Ouch man. He actually felt bad for the otherwise terribly imposing and warlike guy. But that aside for now. The place smelled great. He grinned at Lilith before looking to the table they had been assigned. That, and their immediate surroundings. Dance floor, very nice. Might have to make use of that if Lilith so desired. It was up to her, of course. The singles table on one side. He grinned and waved at Lyn and Ryan before turning and looking behind him. And swallowing what felt like a golf ball. There was Apollo… like right there. And not far off was Mors. Lilith’s two grandfathers were here, and near. Ethan felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up. If tonight didn’t go perfect, if something went wrong, if Lilith wasn’t having an absolutely wonderful Valentine’s Day (which, don’t get him wrong, he wanted her to even without the looming threat), he had a feeling he would meet the anger of her immortal family.

He turned back to Lilith and tried to put that lovely thought out of his mind and rather replace it with a much better thought: he was having his first Valentine’s Day with his dear Lilith. What could be better? His stomach grumbled. Apparently it agreed, or maybe it was just eager for the food part. Trust a stomach to be single-minded. Er, single-stomached? But after all, he was usually hungry to some degree so this was no surprise. Thankfully, it wasn’t long before the food arrived. “Mm, smells that way too! Yum, Minestrone! I got… that eggplant dish thing, I forget what it’s called, mashed potatoes, that molten lava cake because cake and volcanoes sounds like an epic mix, and tea. Oh, and jam cookies! What about you?” Jam cookies. It reminded him of the trip he haphazardly took to London when he was about thirteen. Had passed out for about an hour in the process, but had gotten to try some Jammy Dodgers, which he was now certain were the most delicious treat ever created my mankind.

It was something that Lilith couldn't explain, Ethan was more than her knight in bright and shining armor, he was more than a Jester making her laugh everyday. He was more like an angel, if they were believers of the Catholic god, she would firmly believe that Ethan was a special kind of angel sent to make people happy and specially to keep her far from the hole of depression that was swallowing her little by little for a while. but since he got to her life it had changed. She had other things to live for, she knew that. But he was the machine that put everything in line to work and keep her life in balance.

She looked at him and smiled widely. "well, I chose the Salad and the chips... and... let me remember... the salmon with the herb rice and also the mint chocolate trifle and to drink... Peach black tea, I also ordered the jam cookies, I had them once when I was 7." smiles widely at him and then looks around again, she noticed his look when he saw her family there. well it was weird, she felt like the daghter of a very important mafia guy, like being the daughter of the God Father, but she knew they wouldn't hurt Ethan, at least she hoped that. She placed her hand on his and smiled at him with a slight grin. "Hey... this night will be amazing!! we will dance, we will chat we will have fun and it will be the best! ok? no matter who is around. And if we don't like it... then we can always get out of here and go to the acueduct." She also said that to herself, because Ethan had a sister that didn't like her very much.
