normal day at the legion! training, stripping off armor, walking as far away (and as quickly away) as possible, showering, and then free time! sure, same schedule, but the different people he met or saw afterwards made the days memorable. after his usual morning/afternoon, ryan would usually sit in a niche along the via Principalis, playing his duduk. however, this afternoon, he had decided to not play. of course, he brought tumnus along, but today, he decided to dedicate some time to all the fabulous shops along the road. sure, he passed them on a daily basis, but now, he just wanted to really look at them. along with tumnus, ryan had also brought some denarii with him. just incase any of the wares caught his fancy. most of the vendors knew him (since he did pass by them and then plop himself down to play daily), so he was just allowed to linger from table to table. he exchanged a few friendly words and admired a lot of different things for sale. so amazing... all the different talents people had. this one for jewelry, this one for statues, this one for cooking wares (ah yes! he had to buy some of that! the food vendors especially were used to him coming by...), another for coffee. no wonder remus had so much all the time, all he had to do was walk a few yards from the principia to get caffeine. now that he thought of it, ryan didn't exactly like coffee. he was more of a tea sort of person... coffee gave him a headache. perhaps that was just because he had it black the first time. as a fairness to the person trying to introduce him to it, they did say to put in milk and sugar. why ryan passed up a reason to have sugar, he'd never know, but his thinking was something along the lines of wanting to try it pure first. some crazy reason that only ryan could hope to give a logical (or not) explanation. maybe he could also buy a new reed for tumnus. huh... maybe the apollo children would know more about that. yes... he'd have to ask Jason. Then his thoughts halted. He couldn't ask jason... right.... The son of Ceres' face flickered into a frown for a second. They had to get him back...some how. He drummed his fingers against the side of his leg as he walked on, starting to look at some of the fine stitcheries that one of the tables had to offer. He scanned the tables with his sister in mind, mostly because her birthday was coming up in a few days and he wanted to get a present for her. Lexi and Tessa both, actually. So odd, both of their birthdays on the same day! So them... and Lyn too! Lyn's birthday was tomorrow, he had been told that by her yesterday. He had already baked his third cohort friend a little something, but perhaps a small gift as well... And then there was the birthday of that poor Kaylee girl who had been murdered. Maybe he could visit her grave or something... Nick was really fond of her. Maybe he could leave her a few roses and a muffin or something... not that the dead could eat, but hey, everyone deserved a little something on their birthdays. Dead or not.

It was a beautiful day, Lord Apollo had been too kind to display the warmth of the sun all over Camp Jupiter. After the long winter time, some sun like that was nice and it was being received by everyone no matter if you were a camper or a civilian, in the best way possible. One of those was Alexandra, Lexi as most of the people that talked to her called her. Lexi was walking down Via principalis, she loved to see the multiple things that you could get there.

It was true that if you were a camper, most things were given to you, clothes, food, a place to sleep. But if you really wanted to have extra things, you had to pay for them. Some people got money since they were kids, their parents were either rich people in the mortal world or they were demigods and had already made some money in New rome. Lexi, had a little bit from her father, but she knew it wasn't an eternal source of money, so she worked almost everyday in the green house in New Rome and delivered vegetables and fruits to some shops, also she took some special medicinal herbs to the infirmary. She had a good life in the Legion. As long as she didn't want to interact with people.

But lexi tried to push away that thought and simply continued walking down the Via. she looked around, she liked some earrings and also some gardening tools, she already had a small scythe, it had been a gift from her mother, it was made of gold, but she would like to leave that for more... difficult moments in her life and not the common gardening of every day. But maybe she shouldn't, maybe her mother gave it to her as a sign. She shrugged at herself and continued walking. She looked up to the sky and looked at the sun, then back to the places. Winter was almost over... that also meant her birthday was coming too. but frankly she thought that no one would remember it.

She wasn't the most popular girl in camp and also almost no one knew her birthdate. maybe only Ryan her brother... Not even Caspian that had been her date in that Valentine's dinner, also not Erik, the guy that had stolen her heart. But after a couple of days of walking around and a sweet letter and rose in valentie's, hadn't showed up his face again, well... maybe he finally saw what others had seen sooner. That she was too risky too be around of, maybe not that much to Erik, still... not good to be around her. She continued looking around, she loved the place and the people, she only tried not to touch them. Suddenly she saw someone she knew and loved, someone that loved her no matter what! "Ryan!!" her brother.

before the legion, ryan didn't really have a lot of people to call friends. well, he did have friends, but it was more of the "one sided" nature. he acknowledged them as friends, they acknowledged his existence. rumors about him destroying houses usually prevented him from getting friends. that, and the fact that he was almost always the new one of the school who couldn't sit still. besides, his form of entertainment was literally watching the grass grow, not playing Pokemon or power rangers. his father liked to bring him to the shop after school, so ryan usually didn't do play dates. then he came to the legion. it place treated him well; he loved it here. people here understood him, shared his gifs, his confusions. he found a place in the infirmary: wanting to heal people instead of harm them. then he was placed in his cohort. that placement only helped him further his place in the legion. he found his best friends there: lyndis, allen, nicholas, amelia, and lance. they were like family to him. of course, that didn't replace his real god blood family: lexi. she usually didn't hang around people. she had some sort of toxin thing going on with her skin. some curse she called it; she couldn't touch people, which was really sad. of course, him being a son of ceres, he could withstand her touch for a few seconds. he couldn't imagine not being able to hug or pat someone on the back without infecting them. a life with no contact was just....sad. at least he could give her hugs! him, and hopefully someone else. she'd find someone, he knew she would; she was a such a nice person, and all he wanted to see was for her to be happy. after this whole mess and war thing was over, hopefully a couple of people could get their happy endings. jason could come back, making ethan happy and stop tessa from worrying. preator stone and ms. weingarten could settle down. he had also noticed that lilith had started spending more time with ethan; they'd make a cute couple. allan seemed to have a thing for forge worker ronan redpath. he'd have to bake a few things for ronan and nova like tessa did every now and again. from what he had heard, forge workers barely took a break. in a way, they were almost like him: always on the go. active mind and body.... someone calling his name snapped him outo f his thoughts. he recognized that voice! an instant smile spread across his face. "Lexi!" He turned around, looking at his sister, almost twenty, and nearly five years his senior. pft age and curses. that didn't stop him. age was just an illusion. "nice seeing you down here! you could've had a bit of a show, but i decided to shop today instead!" he grinned. "what're you down here for? just perusing?"

Well for sure Lexi wasn't in that place only to look around, she wanted to see Erik, She was even worried about him! She didn't care if it was because he didn't wanted to see her anymore, in fact she would find that completely understanding. Who could really want to be with someone like her!? She wasn't beautiful, extense scars from burnts covered her body and also her face, she wasn't the most scial person in the world, she rather be alone that with others, and even if she's like to be with others, it wouldn't be advisable, her toxines would kill them within minutes. So who would like to be with a walking poison?! She knew it and understood it! But she couldn't help but being scared for him, she had heard about the deaths, she had seen those bodies in the Arena like a month ago. What if he had been hurt too? she couldn't just stop thinking about it, about Erik, his sister, but mainly Erik.

Then she looked at her brother, she just loved the kid. she knew that she was almost 5 years older than he was and that was a lot, even more when it was a 10 year old boy and a 15 year old girl, but... Well she really loved her brother. She didn't spend lots of time with him trying to protect him, trying to keep him away from her deathly touch. She didn't know if he would be safe or not, she didn't know if Ceres would grant him with the right stuff on his skin to keep himself safe from her. She always tried to keep him away, to be kind for cold at the same time if that was even possible. But then one day, he just hugged her, she was so scared for him, but a single hug for a short period of time didn't hurt him. She noticed how he felt dizzy after a long hug, so she tried to reduce the hugs to only short moment every once in a while.

That day, it would be that moment. She hugged her sister tightly, she needed the hug. then kissed his cheek, and finally before 30 seconds had passed, she pulled back and smiled at him. "Well, I'm trying to buy some stuff, some fertilizers for the plants of my green house, but also... well I was trying to check on Erik... you know, the guy who had been so kind to me." she smiled and giggled nervously. "and you? what are you doing here?" she asked and smiled at him, as she only smiled to him, to her family.

as part of the infirmary staff, ryan heard a good amount of gossip from patients. sometimes it was just from nervous babble: who was with who, who was doing poorly in training, who was doing great in training, complaints, complements, woes, happy chattering, he had heard them all. most of it was just "around camp/new rome news" though, like lexi hanging out with some new rome guy named erik. it was rare that ryan heard things about his sister, mainly because she usually didn't like hanging around other people due to her skin. after a few months, he picked up that she preferred solitude out of fear of hurting others. heck, when ryan first came into the legion, he thought she didn't like him. it only took a matter of days before he realized that she was scared for him. anyone she touched apparently got poisoned, but ryan wasn't going to let a little thing like that prevent him from being with his sister. after his determination set in, ryan was left to figure out how to convince lexi it was okay for her to touch him. of course, ryan didn't know how well it would go himself, but he was willing to try something, anything, to give lexi human contact. the only thing he came up with? suddenly hugging her and not caring if he got poisoned or not. lexi needed hugs and if no one else could give them to her, he would. luckily, ryan came away unharmed. apparently being a child of ceres gave him some immunity. ever since then, he had been hugging her or patting her on the back or teasingly nudging her at any chance he got. when she went for the hug first, it made things 1,000 times better. he grinned, hugging her back. "Oh, nice! I bought some of that last week. Erik, huh? That's great! He lives in New Rome then, I'm guessing. When'd you meet him?" Ha! He thought of him, and she had just mentioned him. It was nice that Lexi had found someone nice to hang out with. Goodness knew she needed another companion, other than her little, hyperactive (even in demigod standards) brother who did way too much with his life. Ooooh what was he doing? When was he ever not doing something? Even if Ryan did have free time, he'd more than likely go visit the children in the infirmary or give a free show at the side of the road. "I'm trying to find something for Lyn's birthday... and for Kaylee's." Odd roman getting something for a deceased member of the legion. Hey! It wasn't that odd though. Mortals brought things to graves all the time. Besides, it was different here. People came back as Lars, maybe Kaylee came back. Even though she wouldn't be able to touch or smell or anything, at least she could have something. flowers, a little charm... maybe he could plant a tree or something for her. the whole "put the world back into balance, as a life is taken, give a life" thing.
