early in the morning, at around 0530, ryan slipped out of his bed, and started getting ready for april fools day. ryan didn't exactly do pranks, but more did... fun stuff. actually, if he looked that way, it made every day april fools day. the son of ceres fought back a yawn, smiling with watering eyes. the legion needed a dose of fun every day, and he happy to help supply some of it. hopefully some of the kids here would be young enough to remember the cartoon like he had. careful to not wake anyone, ryan picked up his clothes and costume that he had placed out the night before and a bag, also prepared the night before. in the duffle: tumnus, a nude cap with attached an attached wig, some make up, an old wrap around horn, a tea set for two, a bottle of water, and a smoke machine that he had found in the armory. speaking of that smoke machine that he had found: what was something like that doing in the armory? wouldn't it have been in the forge on that "work in progress/dump" pile that those Vulcan kids were famous for. They could pick up nearly any ditched pile and make it into a darn good piece of art. Masters of recreation and craft, they were. With a smile on his face, Ryan got dressed in his normal clothes before slipping out to the bathroom with the rest of his supplies. while in the bathroom, ryan slipped on the fire nation robes he had bought. then went on the nude cap with grey wig and beard pieces, hiding his dirty blonde hair and making him look top bald.... and old. gods he looked so weird... and it was only going to get weirder. how different was applying make up than decorating a cake? has canvas was just... on his face instead of infront of him. all he really had to do put this thing the girls had called eyeshadow on his eyebrows so they'd look grey. it was a little like spreading frosting, but in a really condensed area. like, eyebrow condensed. okay: robes, beard, make up... now he just had to make tumnus look more like a tsungi horn. pretty simple: he had found a horn in the dump pile, and then had just asked one of the vulcan kids to elongate the neck (by a lot) and bend it so it could go up around his own neck so it could be placed infront of his chest. ryan fit the modified horn onto tumnus, and then hooked it around his neck. okay, so it was a little longer in the front than than the actual, fictional tsungi horn, but it wrapped around; people could probably get the drift. [[gist of what ryan looks like + what tumnus looks like as a tsungi horn]] with everything in place, ryan took his bag and stepped outside into the cool, march morning. he walked right outside of the praetorian gate and sat down. he opened his bag and started up the fog machine. it had originally functioned with an electrical chord, but with that not available, he had once again turned to the vulcan kids. he had asked them to make it battery operated, which they had done, it was a limited life though: maybe five hours. he took out the tea set and the water and placed it beside him. a smile spread across the demigod’s face as he started to play iroh's tsungi horn piece. as the smoke encased him, he shut his eyes, playing by memory, and wondering if anyone was up and/or would get the joke. either that, or it could go the opposite way: they could think that it was an intruder and attack him. ah well, wasn’t about the danger. it was about the fun.

I'd rather sleep my whole life away Miyuki's eyes fluttered open and she let one eye lazily float around the room. She never could get used to the sounds people made when she was trying to sleep. Perhaps she was as light a sleeper as her grandfather, supposedly that's why Mors was always so quiet. She made a groaning noise as she cuddled deeper into her warm covers, and soft pillow. Popping her toes and back a little bit as she stretched, trying to get comfortable again. It wasn't going to be long until training would start again, even if they accused her of being a lazy lounge about most of the time, at least she participated in the drills, and practiced on her own outside of them. She just never got a decent night sleep thanks to the other girls and the noise they made. It made her yawn and find naps in some unusual places, the stereotypical daughter of Somnia she supposed. Then there was a loud noise and she was up, looking around. Her watch alarm. With a heavy sigh she clicked the button to make sure it didn't try to make noise again. She stretched again, it would take her another several minutes to finally roll herself out of bed and get something to eat. Eventually Miyuki was on her feet, a bit shaky and swaying, but on them non-the-less. Pulling on a purple camp tee and some pants she ventured out into the corridor. Mornings sucked, but she supposed any time she was awoken by something loud and obnoxious like a watch it was bound to be a not very pleasant awakening. That was okay though, groggy morning stumbles were just fine by her. Stopping just before a doorway she inched herself around it, patting the hard wood a moment before moving on. She had a pretty bad tendency to walk into things when she was in this zombie like state. She must have dozed off while walking, looking around a bit startled by where exactly she was and why there was fog. She heard some kind of music and slowly made her way towards it. Smoke was everywhere, and she happened to cough a bit looking around. This was interesting. Then she couldn't help but bust out laughing, what on earth was Ryan doing? “Why are you dressed like that?” Reaching out to touch the smoke she could tell this wasn't a dream, she'd be able to control it a bit if it where. he forgot to make the sign saying that he wasn't a dangerous, raging lunatic who snuck into the legion. no, camp had much better security than that, and all the legionaries knew it, but just on the off chance... whoops. people usually acted instinctively when it came to strangers and strange situations. at the legion, acting instinctively usually entailed taking out a weapon. even worse, they were nearly at war with saturn and company. being on the brink of war changed people. slowly, but surely, people had been getting paranoid and suspicious of others. it wasn't the ideal state of unity, but ryan couldn't blame them, to an extent. multiple people had already left camp to side with the titan, including people he wouldn't have imagined, like his own cohort leader. with all those pleasant thoughts rolling around in his head, ryan hoped whoever found him first wouldn't be the "go directly for the kill" type. hopefully lyn, lilith, cadence, tessa, miyuki, clare, ethan, someone, anyone, who could appreciate a joke at 0600 in the morning and not kill him for it. then again, from what he had seen, some of the cohorts would probably already be up and getting ready to train. as he finished another round of iroh's music, he began thinking. what to play next... there was always the traditional songs. some of them he still had yet to memorize. then there was the "narnian lullaby" piece, music from gladiator, battle star galactia, children of the dune, hotel rwanda... yeah, he still needed to memorize some of those too. gladiator. he knew that one. he improvised a segway into "duduk of the north" and started playing by muscle memory. a minute or so into the song, he started to hear coughing. oh. the smoke, right. ryan cracked his eyes open, miyuki standing infront of him. he finished the measure, playing his duduk softly enough so he could hear her question, and then let the warped instrument rest in the crook of his knees. "morning miyuki! sorry about all the smoke," he apologized, looking at the machine. was there a way to moderate the level of this? then, remembering her question, he looked down at the fire nation garb he was wearing. "oh, you know me. having fun. the usual! glad it was you who found me first and not someone who'd go straight for a sword swing!" he laughed. "want some tea?" he asked, gesturing to the pot and cups beside him.

I'd rather sleep my whole life away She simpered and gave a short nod before sitting down. Honestly it was like something she'd see back in Japan, the conventions where people would dress up as a character. She hadn't exactly ventured outside of the little valley they'd made a living in, but she supposed other people might do the same things. Other than on Halloween, she'd seen little kids even in New Rome dress up for that and run around trick-or-treating. It might have been based in the culture of ancient Rome, but people still brought with them their own beliefs and traditions. Like Christmas, though that seemed a bit strange, Romans celebrating what was supposed to be a Christian holiday. Not exactly the time of year to be thinking about these kinds of things though, it was getting warmer not colder. The queen of the underworld seemed to have gone back to her mother to spend time as spring and summer began to roll back into the northern hemisphere. So the question was still, why did he dress up in some strange garb with a white and bald wig? “Good morning to you as well, umm...anything in particular I should call you? No, no it's...interesting to say the least?” she smiled and looked over at the machine he had producing the smoky effect. It wasn't too bad when you were farther away, but right next to it seemed to tickle her nose and throat a bit. With a bit of a snort followed by her laughter she couldn't help but shake her head at the passive boy. What would he have done if she were the type to attack on site? Probably string them up by their legs while apologizing and offering tea if they put the sword down. Speaking of tea, he had some off to the side. “What do you have?” she questioned as her eyes traced over the pot “Not that it matters much, I'll try it.” for the most part, possibly because of so many taste tests by the Ceres relatives, Miyuki had taken to trying things first and passing judgment later. It seemed smiles and laughter was something that was passed between her and the kitchen dwellers as she'd come to call them in her mind. The people that had pretty much taken over the kitchen, much to the dismay of the local Nymphs. Miyuki picked up a cup looking at it. “These are cute, where did you get these?” A little idle chatter between friends. She at least assumed Ryan saw her as a friend, she certainly liked him well enough. They laughed and joked, so it felt right to call him a friend. Perhaps her standards where a bit lax, but considering how many people in the legion actually talked and laughed and smiled with you on a daily basis, perhaps here in Camp Jupiter her standards where high. This had been the first time Ryan had tried to do something like this. He didn't know where he had gotten the idea from. Maybe just not wanting to be a legion solider for a day? Escape day, maybe. Instead of a prank, he decided to do an out of body experience. Kinda. Even though it involved a lot of prep time (is this what Amelia and other children of Venus had to go through every single morning?) it had been fun. Going under cover as a character? Being able to become someone else? Awesome. Although Ryan didn't have much resemblance to Iroh from Avatar, it wasn't anything cosmetics, a costume, and a wig couldn't fix. Some of that and ta-da! Brand new person in under thirty minutes! He had to this more often. Think up other characters he could do. Maybe he could be a swamp bender next time. Goodness knew he could pull off the plant bending. Only thing he couldn't do that was very Iroh-ish, was firebend. In that respect, a Vulcan child could have probably done better in a firebender's skin. ryan looked over at the smoke machine for a second. Nope, no way to turn it off. Instead, he tugged at the wire that kept it running. The engine sputtered out and the smoke started to thin. He sighed slightly, looking through the mist. What would Nick say if he saw him doing this? Laugh? Grin and roll his eyes teasingly? Play along? Ryan looked down and adjusted his reed toner before shifting his warped instrument into a more comfortable position. Ryan had to laugh. "No! Nothing in particular, just Ryan'll do. Or Bubbles. Or DuDunce. Y'know. Whatever ya'll've come up with in the past." He grinned. "Yeah, that's one way to put it, I s'pose." Interesting. Interesting was good. At least she didn't think that he was outright insane or anything. Alright, scratch that. Anyone who spent more than a day with him knew that he was insane. She was probably too polite to say so. "I'm glad you found me first. Imagine if it was one of the Mars kids." Just thinking about it... if it had been one of the kids who had tortured poor Kaylee. Or a camper who was more on the paranoid side. "It'd be a bad start to the day if you got strung up by the ankles at 0600," he said with a very slight grin. "I mean... getting blood rushed to your head is just unpleasant. But I'd kinda fear for my life if I let them down," he laughed. "Hm?" he looked over at the small tea pot and cups. "Oh! Jasmine tea." He gave a slight laugh. "Yeah, I know you would. Gods only know how many experiments from us you've tried. You've been a good sport about that. This isn't anything of my own concoction though. Bought it in New Rome. Both the tea and the set." He had been saving up for a while now. Various plant growing and baking for individuals and such. Little odd jobs. Maybe he could be a dudukahar for hire next. Or a juggler. That'd be fun. He could do kids parties or something! He poured her a cup and then poured himself one. "Have you found any super cool secret entrances or paths to add to your maps?!" he asked brightly, starting to blow on his tea.
