For ten years nothing happened. She loved her family, played with the other kids. Learned everything she could from the great people around her. The family that was always there for her. A father who was everything. Ten years of perfect happiness. An adventure to New Rome, a little stop at a big scary wolf's house. Nothing seemed too different. She missed her dad, she missed her grams and everyone else in that large camp fire family. Talking laughing playing she was full of energy and made more friends and family here in the camp so far away from home. She met Edmund, who she quickly fell in love with his inventions. She watched him work on them, it was great. Charlie found her, a little bit of a trouble maker but helped train her. Helped put her energy to good use. There was Gunnar, who so few people knew how nice and how much of a great big brother he was. Even if people didn't understand him, they didn't understand Ed either. People didn't like Charlie sometimes because she made them work so hard. Lyndis didn't mind. She met Prometheus, and he was smart and kind even if she forgot to make him a gift when she made everyone else ones. Felicity was nice, until something happened with the gods. The argument that got out of hand and seemed to change her. Lyndis didn't think people could change, but she did. How she followed Felicity around trying to get her to understand Lyndis wasn't going to leave her. How she followed Edmund around to let him know she wouldn't leave him.

The quest team. Josh, Ethan and Edmund where the best big brothers she could have asked for. Felicity was hard headed like Edmund but the big heart inside of the tiny chest just wouldn't stop caring about either of them. A camp fire family. She had it again. It was dangerous, they got hurt. It was really painful at times, but at the end of the day it was the five of them watching out for each other. She loved it. Despite all the monsters that attacked, they could take care of each other, that's what a family was. That's what they were and Lyndis would have followed every single one into the pits of Tartarus. She would have fought Cerberus if it was to get them back. Then the last day of the quest came. They were gone months before they broke into the ancient vault to get the items. It wasn't good, it was terrible. No one was the same after the quest.

Felicity lost her mind, her memories. It hurt, but she tried to be cheerful. Tried to help her big sister that didn't even remember her. At the same time Edmund was distancing himself. She didn't like it, not one bit, but if he wanted space she'd leave him alone. She didn't want to bug him until he didn't like her anymore. Josh was in the infirmary a long time. Then when he got out he still would go to the dungeons to see his girlfriend whenever he could. Ethan spent time with his girlfriend. Six months, what did it really amount to? They went back to camp, and everyone distanced themselves from her.

At least Gunnar was here, still the same. Charlie too, but it wasn't the same. They hadn't fought back to back for six months. She hadn't even seen them for that long, which was even more than what she had known them. Still she loved them, of course she did. Not the same as her family, the quest family. Only a month and something worse happened. Josh's girlfriend left. She went to Saturn's army. Lyn couldn't really remember seeing him again. Sometimes here and there with long messy hair, he'd small bad and would disappear somewhere again. She got close to Nicholas and Charlie. They were great helping her to train more. She always needed it and she loves hanging out with them. It was fun, and Edmund still seemed to want to be left alone. She wanted to spend more time with him, but every time he asked her to leave, she would.

It wasn't long until Nick left. Then Ed went to find him and never came back. Felicity was gone. Ed was gone. Josh was gone. It was just her and Ethan for the quest family now. Still she saw very little of him. Remus tried to step in to help her train in Nick's place, but she was scared. Scared Remus would have to leave too. She was right. He was taken, along with Jason. It was terrifying, everyone she knew had something bad happening to them. It was her fault, all her fault. Everyone left, everyone was taken because she was there. She wasn't a good luck charm, she was a bad luck charm.

Eventually the news came to her. She was not the reason anyone left. Ed just didn't care about her. She was still pretty sure she was the reason. At the same time she found out her dad was gone. She couldn't handle it anymore, all of it came out in tears. Streams and rivers of tears as she cried. She hadn't known there was so much water in a person.

Gunnar was still there. Her big brother. He even threw her a birthday party. She was so happy about it, so happy to see Ryan there, and Josh back to normal. It was a great party. Fun, and even if not everyone was there it was amazing. Then everything slowed back down to normal. Josh spent time with her again though, laughing and joking with her. He and Gunnar seemed to get along, they would talk about things, or go off to do something. Then she'd be alone again. She loved talking to everyone, but she didn't want to run up and spend time with them anymore. She wasn't sure why, but she was dangerous to be around. That's what she had convinced herself anyway.

So here she is, in the woods where she knows full well she shouldn't be, looking up at the grey sky. “Gods? I don't know....who can help. I just....I want a family I can't hurt. I love people, I love them a lot, but I don't want to hurt them. I don't know what to do.”

The poor little girl. She had been through so much. Diana knew, she kept an eye on her. Sure, at first it was because she saw a potential recruit in her but the little Lyndis Sinclair was adamant about her camp family, and Diana understood that. She admired the loving passion Lyndis held for those she cared about. But Diana also saw as the little family formed during the quest broke apart and went their different ways, living Lyn by herself with no one to keep her company or be a family to her. Sure, occasionally someone with a heart stopped by and paid the prepubescent female some attention to remind her that she was indeed loved but Diana knew that was only short lived and now it seemed as though Lyn was beginning to understand that too.

The young girls cry to the heavans broke Dianas heart. She just wanted to reach down and hug her and never let her go and for Lyn to know that she is loved and people do love her. She'll have a family. In fact, as Diana always believed, the hunters would make a perfect family for the young good luck charm. And Lyn wouldn't be able to hurt them as they were immortal, only dying in battle. That's it. This was the time Diana needed to sell her pitch to join the hunters while consoling the young Lyndis. Legion life wasn't for her, the life of a hunter was.

Diana, appearing a few feet behind Lyndis, took a sad deep breath as she examined the young girl from behind. This girl, gods, it broke her heart. She put her trust in a majority of men who turned on her and then the females Lyn ended up looking up to were infatuated with their lovers and could never give this young girl the attention she deserved.

"lyndis Sinclair, do you want to get some ice cream? You seem down, and ice cream always seems to bring a smile to my face." Diana pitched with a soft smile as she walked up to Lyndis and put a consoling hand on her shoulder. Trying to appear warm and welcoming. She wasn't going to pitch the idea right away to join the hunters. No, that came later. Right now Diana just wanted to see the young girls face blossom and radiate with a simple smile that would make Apollos sun chariot seem like nothing compared to how much the smile of this little girl lit up the world.

She sat there for a few moments, staring up at the sky barely visible through the foliage above. The interwoven trees, with their fresh green leaves and small budding flowers. It was getting close to summer, and the feast that would be held for her mother. The Feast Fortuna that was held in June. Last year she had a dress special for the occasion, it was a great big party in New Rome. Sort of like the one for Christmas in the winter. It was a fun time, and it seemed like the entire week was nothing but a big celebration. A celebration named after Fortuna, but with a great deal of emphasis on Ceres as well. Hopes for good crops, a good season. Lyndis could remember it well, it seemed a million years ago though. So long since she had last seen her dad, since she had first come to Camp Jupiter.

A familiar voice caught the girls attention, her warm hand on her shoulder. Normally at this time her lips would turn up into a smile, a grin, as she tried her best to push away these feelings. No one liked to see her sad, they wanted her happy, so that's what she tried to be. This time though, she leaned her face a bit on the warm hand. "Yes please." she spoke polity, though the shaking feeling of loneliness still held her voice. She recognized Lady Diana, how could she not? She always thought she was bad with names and faces, but she was actually very good. She simply tried to learn too many at once. Besides, they had a competition once before and Lyndis would never forget that.

"Did you hear me?" she asked with curious eyes, large and focused on the goddess that lingered over her. Standing up she dusted the grass and leaves off of her knees and legs. Her heart still felt heavy, but she could remember a few things about the Hunters. She remembered someone saying if she knew about them she'd have joined them before she was too old. Another person calling them a girl scout troupe without the cookies. All things she wasn't sure what they meant, but she knew it involved leaving. At the moment, and last time she was asked, she wasn't ready to leave. This time though, it was only because she'd have to say goodbye first.

Lyndis had made somewhat matching necklaces for Apollo and Diana. A bit different since Diana's was a wire wrapped moonstone, and Apollo's was a wire wrapped glass tube with small sunstones and a bit of basil in it. It was her first project with Ed, her only real project with him. No one knew how she had managed to get the disgruntled little urchin to help make anything for the gods, and Lyndis never saw the importance behind it. She'd spoken to some of the gods about their gifts, wondering if they liked them. She used a book Charlie gave her, and it was a project that actually kept her out of trouble a good majority of the time. Instead of her near daily visits to her parole officer, again Charlie, for trying to escape camp.

Diana gave a soft, sad smile before giving a soft nod. "Yes. I heard you. And you'll always have a family, if you need one." Diana started but ended, trying to think of the best way to bring about the topic of joining the hunters. Her thoughts turned to Saturnalia and the present she received as an offering. Diana pulled it out from underneath her shirt and took it off from around her neck, placing it in her hand to show the young girl. "If I recall correctly, you left me this gift. That was extremely thoughtful of you. I never got the chance to thank you. But, thank you Lyn." Diana said giving a smile to the young girl.

"Now, how about that ice cream or if you want something else we can get that. We can talk about what's making you so sad." Diana spoke before stretching her sleeve over her hand and wiping some tears from Lyns face. No cute little face should be wet with tears, instead it should be bright with a smile, having fun with their childhood. Once she dried up some of the tears she stretched her hand out to Lyn so that she may grab it and Diana could take her to wherever she wanted to get a treat. One of the perks of being a goddess, able to appear anywhere. Of course it will be out of camp if Lyndis wanted it to be, and the praetors couldn't really have the poor girl in trouble for taking a trip with a friendly goddess. Honestly, Diana never did Rome, old or new, any harm. She was too much of a daddys girl herself and would hate to see her father angry at her.

Diana couldn't imagine a life without her Dad. Sure, Jupiter was known for mainly one thing, reproducing. But Diana knew he had father qualities too. After all, he gave her everything she wanted on her fifth birthday. A pack of hunting dogs, a group of followers, and the promise for her to remain chaste. Suppose that was the reason Diana felt more for the little Lyndis. She had recently lost her father and that was something no little girl needed to go through. It was tough, and to lose a friend she saw as a brother. Again, Diana wouldn't know what she would do without her twin. Sure, they disagreed from time to time but they were still family. Her fahter, mother, twin and her hunters. That was Dianas family. And luckily for Lyn, if she was interested, Dianas family could expand more by welcoming her into the hunters. There she would be greeted by girls around her age who camped, hunt, and laughed until their sides hurt everyday and defended one another throughout their eternity. They were a close knit family and Diana felt certain that Lyndis would find herself at home there.

Lyndis wondered If this was the answer, because she had thought about it before. The family she had here, growing up with them and laughing with them was what made her decline her offer before. How she wasn't so sure. She still loved her family, but she wanted more. She wanted to be with them all the time, traveling. It was in her blood to travel, not stay in camp. She did smile a bit at seeing the gift she had left Diana for no particular reason. It was the first time she had heard of offerings to the gods, so she made one for everyone. That she had found at any rate, the Titan's did not so easily have alters in Camp Jupiter. “Yeah, I remember I looked up lots of stuff so I could make it.” Trying to return the goddesses smile, it was different. Prometheus was an old man, wise and with scars everywhere, Mercury was maybe her dad's age in looks and she loved them both. Diana though was closer to her in age, or so it looked. It was comfortable, even if she knew she was a powerful goddess.

Yeah, lots of things were floating around in the little eleven year olds head that was making her sad. Little things she felt like she didn't have to worry about, that she shouldn't worry about. Sad faces made other people sad too, and she didn't like that. Josh was already sad enough, though he seemed happier now. Smiling like he was before, joking around. If she ever felt like talking to him, or Ethan, she would be carried away with their energy, and laugh with them. She'd not want to ruin the mood talking about sad things. This wasn't her family, not now. Not yet. So maybe a little was okay. To talk to her. “Can I have sherbert?” she mused a bit on the comment for ice cream. Perhaps one of the few children who preferred fruit and nuts to sweets. Maybe that's why she loved Edmund so much, though she never thought of him as a nut, or as anything less than Edmund the awesome creator of things.

She wrinkled her face as the cloth sleeve wiped away her tears, it'd been a while since anyone did that for her. Possibly because it'd been a wile since she let anyone see her cry. The last one was Mercury. The one unfortunate enough to find her after Edmund's message, and who had told her about her father's death. He was a sweet kind hearted god, though a trickster. Taking the hand offered to her. The goddess stood nearly a foot taller than she did, though she had grown a few inches while she was on the quest and even more while she'd been back. It came in weird spurts, but she was close to five feet tall now. Taller than Nova, she knew that. “Where are we going?”
