Trainings have increased and people is trying to be the best warriors they can, but everything is just fine, Centurions are now real busy, they all are trying to get the best of their cohorts and push them enough to get the best results. Don't worry about anything here. How is home? the shelter? please write to me about it, I really miss you dad. With all the love in the world... Zoe <3 Camp Jupiter was an amazing place to live, to be, to grow up and to grow inside. It was true that some of the activities there were extreme, but wasn't something that they couldn't manage... right? While Zoe wrote that small letter for her father, she was trying to get away from her mind all those days that camp had to live through during war. Peaople hurting each other, brothers against brothers, that was something that no people should have to live through. Reason why she tried to help everyone back then, but there was no way she could help thousands of people, it was impossible for a simple demigod. She sighed when she looked at the paper and didn't know if she should send such words, such sweet words or write again and send her father the real words that were squeezing her heart to a horrible point. SHe was scared and she knew that people still thought she was kind of a traitor. Past war, she decided to help all of them, not only her fellow campers but the traitors too, it was a risky move, but she decided it was the best thing to do, because after all, all of them were children of the gods, brothers and sisters... right? Ronan's arms ached as he tried to lift up a rather heavy box of spare parts to a top shelf. This working all hours of the days were starting to get problematic. Just a little further... he thought as he slid the box into place. The steel shelves held steady as the massive box rested. These were spare parts that went to various weapons and mechanical devices that Ronan had been working on. The machines were great and they were wonderful to work with. He really thought that his best bet after he was scheduled to retire, he would go to the university and be come an engineer, just like his mom. The only difference was, he wasn't about to die. The fire in the forge was warm, it was wonderful. It was his home fire. Fire could be destructive, it was a force that was like no other. But even where fire was destructive and unstoppable, it also created things. It helped create wonderful things. Lord Prometheus risked everything so that mankind could have fire, it had to be good in a way that others couldn't see. He knew how he was scorned, that fire manipulators were bad luck. They always seemed to come at a time of great tragedy, though there were some that would argue that they came at a time of the greatest need.

Ronan was hot. The forge was stifling and smothering in the summer. The heat was enough to make him feel like he wanted to pass out. He couldn't stay here a moment longer. So in just his leather britches and boots, he walked out towards the river. As a legacy of Neptune, he felt a connection with the water. He couldn't swim or manipulate water, but he could breathe underwater. Which was a plus considering it meant he couldn't drown. But walking along the river, it was something that calmed his nerves. It took his mind off of whatever was bothering him. The sound of the water rushing over rocks, occasionally dipping his feet in, it was a good feeling. The air felt good against his skin, it sucked being a child of Vulcan after all. He was constantly hot, bothered by the naturally high tempreature that his body had. He would do nearly anything to keep cool.

But it would seem there was someone else that had the same idea that he did. Ronan looked at the tiny figure that was also along the river side. Well anyone else compared to him was tiny. He was solid muscle and over six feet worth of it, there was nothing little about him by any means. "Sorry, Hope I'm not interrupting anything. Thought I'd take a stroll." Ronan said to the back of the petite figure in front of him.

Zoète Liefdesgod❅ The river had a very special effect on many of the campers, well not only the campers and the civilians already living in New Rome. The water, its sound, that sound that could make anyone relax and go to sleep, the view, the soft movements of each of the small waves on the surface, some twisters here and there, just to let the nymphs and the fish play in the water without finding it boring at all. People outside camp, the ones who were called mortals, loved the sound of the water and the view of a calm river too. Well for Zoe it was a wrong definition, everyone but the gods was mortal, even the gods children, all the demigods, they were mortal too, they would also have to meet Lord Mors at some point, but... well who knew, maybe it would be possible to not die, like Hercules or Asclepius.  Zoe sighed when she thought about that and then shook her head, she looked again at her father's letter, well the one she will send to her father. For sure she wouldn't like to be immortal! to see how all those who you love died?! No way, she would never want that to happen! Then she looked at the water again and smiled. She leaned down and put her index on the surface of it. Then she focused on the tip of her finger and then on the water under it. The water started freezing, but nothing to be alarmed about, she was making gigant snow flakes on the water, then she lifted her index a bit and let the snow flake leave following the water's current. Some fish started playing with the snow-flake, which made her very happy, so she did it again, another sno-flake followed the first one and another, and another. Suddenly while she was making the tenth or eleventh, she heard a deep voice like a thunder right behind her. The startle made her squeal and to lose focus on what she was doing on the water, she she froze a thick layer of the water's surface, it seemed a wide, thick, half bridge to the other side of the river. "oh... no..." She said kind of worried, she only hoped she hadn't frost any living creature, any fish or any nymph. some of them wouldn't die, specially the nymphs, but fish were other story. "sorry..." she said to the water then looked back at the owner of such voice. She smiled gently and then grinned. "Oh! I'm sorry Ronan, I didn't expect anyone out here at this hour. It is perfectly ok if you wanted to go for a stroll, so you're not interrupting anything." She smiled again and then looked back at the river. I'll stop the world and melt with you

For a brief moment, Ronan watched the girl in front of him. She was playing with the ice on the water surface of the river. It could only be Zoe. She was such a nice girl when they had met the other day. Even though it had nearly been ten years since he had joined the legion, there were still plenty of people that he hadn't met or knew. He knew all of his brothers and sisters, they all came to the forge at some point or another. He knew most of the people in his cohort, save for some of the younger members. He was learning fast about the people in his cohort. There were those that he had known forever, like Miyuki. Nine years they had known each other, they were good friends. Josh was another one he had known forever. The son of Mercury was a good friend and the turn of events had left the poor boy seemingly broken. Ronan didn't know how to help his friend. It didn't seem like anyone could help him help Josh. He was never good with people, he didn't know how to deal with them and he felt like he came off as creepy to nine tenths of the people he met.

When he spoke, she jumped, freezing the river across to the other side. He frowned, he hoped she hadn't accidentally froze any fish under there. Ronan didn't think his grandpa would appreciate his favorite subjects being turned into fish-cicles. The thought made him shudder, that was gross. "It's alright, I can thaw it if you want. Otherwise we could go ice skating." He offered her a small smile. It had been ages since he had been ice skating. New Rome didn't freeze over like Russia did. Not since he came here had there been ice strong enough to hold and support his weight and heat. This was also the same man that would belly flop in two feet deep snow before hitting grass in a comical looking snow angel that had melted strait down to the grass. Then there was the time he had done that and melted the snow down to the grass and then accidentally set the grass ablaze as if it was dry wheat in a Kansas field. "I didn't mean to scare you, I promise. I really didn't think anyone was out this time. I hope you're okay." Ronan said in his deep and accented voice. Most people who were out at this particular hour, they didn't want to be bothered.

"May I escort you? I'd hate for something to happen to you. Besides with times like these, it's not safe to be out alone." Ronan said. He knew what happened to Kaylee, was that her name? Well the poor girl had been attacked by some boys who swore she was a traitor. He wished that Tessa wouldn't be alone in the infirmary so often at night, and even lilith, the legacy of Mors in his cohort, Gods knew how many times that girl had been told to not go out at night. Hells bells, she was a right stubborn one. He knew what the people said about Zoe behind her back, but like with Allan, Ronan didn't judge people. Their decisions were their own and it wasn't his place to point swords or fingers. Eventually they all had to stand in front of the judges, and they were the ones who would tell you where you would go in the after life.

Zoète Liefdesgod❅ Zoe had heard before about the gigant blacksmith in the forge, she had even heard about his bad temper, his reclusion into the forge, how people either mock about him , because of his accent, his meassures or his silence, or fear him, basically because of the same reasons why others mocked him. She had heard of him for the last 9 years of her life, but she had never met him. It wasn't because she was scared of the thought, the image that everyone created about him, no... she in fact didn't like the extreme heat and fire in the forge. She liked some warmth, in fact being a khione girl and growing up in Texas, wasn't something easy, she was used to control her body temperature in high heat weather, but the forge was something extreme. Although all of that, she was glad she had walked that day into the forge and met Ronana, she finally saw him and now she could tell anyone that he wasn't a monster, he wasn't a gigantic brute. He was a nice, sweet, tender and gentle man. When he mentioned about thawing the ice she sighed knowing it would be the best. but then he mentioned ice skating, well it was by far one of her favorite activities, but... it was impossible to do it in New rome or camp without freezing some water surface. "Ice skating... I haven't done it for a very long time. you know how Camp and New Rome never get cold enough." She smiles, then looked at the water and put her hand on the ice, then back at him and with a sweet smile she spoke again. "I think we should melt this... I'm worried about any fish in there. and maybe if you are up for some real ice skating, I could froze it again after checking that no fish or water creature is trapped inside." some of their fellow mates would tell her that she was too soft, well... she didn't care as long as she didn't hurt or harm any living, innocent creature. Then he offered himself to escort her just after apologizing for scaring her, she smiled again after just a second of surprised facial expression and then nodded at him. "it would be... really nice of you, as long as you don't care to be seen with a 'traitor'..." she said moving her hands as if she was quoting the word traitor. Then got up and put the letter again inside her small bag. "Don't worry about scaring me, I was distracted, but I'm sure you don't need a loud speaker when you command your cohort, right?" she said it with a smile, not mocking, just finding it fascinating.  I'll stop the world and melt with you

the girl standing right here in front of him, she just.... she was just so small. She was the small child of Khione. He almost thought of his dear little Nova when he looked at her. But no, she wasn't like nova. Many people branded Zoe as a traitor because she didn't like to fight, but that really wasn't so bad. His whole cohort was nearly made up of people who weren't into killing or fighting. For the most part, Ronan himself was a pacifist. He didn't like having to kill or fight, but when it came to his home, he would be the stalwart protector and defender. He really felt bad for startling her. Ronan knew that somewhere down the line, he must have been part giant or something. OR at least that's what people jokingly said to his face, the scathing things they said behind his back, well that was a different story. They might laugh now, but when it came time for battle, they would hardly be laughing. Well they always laughed at fifth cohort. The freaks, Greeks and Geeks of the legion. He hoped that all of this extra work he was putting in was worth it.

"sometimes I have to yell, but it's really not because I need to be heard, just to get people's attention." He said with a grin. Not that he didn't really attract attention, he was close to seven feet tall and a massive amount of muscle from genetics and working in the forge. He heard about a book character from people called the mountain and another called the hound, but he felt it kindda fit him. No he wasn't going around and popping people's heads off like pimples, that was just kindda rude. "I don't care if you're a traitor or not, It's not my place to judge people." Ronan stated with a small smile to Zoe. Ronan watched her put a small piece of paper in her pocket. "Writing a letter?" Ronan leaned in close to her. ""Here's a secret, I can't write in English" he said with a wink of his eye. He was able to write in Latin and Russian, the Cyrillic alphabet was natural to him. After all it was his first language. There were too many rules and exceptions to the rules, it was enough to make his head spin. All of his notes and blueprints were in Russian, some even in Latin. Most of them were in a language that few could understand.

Zoète Liefdesgod❅ Looking at Ronan, she could understand why so many campers ran away from him. He was such a gigant, goliath, that would have been a nickname for him back at the place he used to call home. But for sure she would have argued with those who dared to call him like that. Why? Well, that was something easy to reply, she hated people who were like that, people who mistreated others only by the way they looked or the way they acted. If gods had wanted them to be the same, then they would have made them all as clones without a brain. In fact they would have left them be like the humans that lived in the time of Saturn, maybe that was why she had never changed sides, because she didn't want a world like that one. Then Ronan explained to her why he yelled at people, to draw attention onto him only so people would pay attention and for sure they learned something that might saved their lives and wouldn't die like others. "I don't think you really need to yell to make them all listen to your wide voice like thunder!" Zoe smiled at his grin, he was such a sweet guy, completely like that Disney character... Beast. He was definetely like that, so imponent, outside he was like the Norse mythological gigants, the... if she could remember well... the Jotün, well... maybe only the appearance, because he was as hot as the fire where he put the metals to melt and work with them later. He was huge, people might fear him, but after she saw that grin on his face, she couldn't feel fear around him, in fact she felt safe. He was fire and she was ice, still she felt safe with him around. For some reason, knowing that he didn't care if she was a traitor or not, made her feel happy, her usually pale cheeks showed a slight pink tone, she blushed just a bit, not in a romantic way, not that she thought of it, she blushed because very few people thought like he did, and it was nice to know someone that would gladly be with her. "Thank you, it is really nice to know that." She said and then looked at her pocket after his question, then she nodded at him and sighed. "To my father, I promised I'd write at least every week, but with all what had been happening... I didn't know what to write and not worry him about it, the last I want is to have him here asking The praetors to let him fight in the war." She half smiled and then shruged. "do you write back home?" She looked at him with eyes wide open, how was it possible that he couldn't write in English, he spoke it so well! with accent, but well!! Then she thought for a moment about it and nodded. "Well... if you want to learn... I could try to teach you." smiles a bit more. "and maybe you could teach me some... Ronan knew that it was a hard life for demi-gods. It was hard for his friend Chris, a son of Jupiter. There were so much expectations placed upon the big three. It was hard for the children of the Olympians, the Mars children especially, they were strong and powerful. It was a danger for any to be left outside of camp. There was more pity, no that wasn't the right word, it was a shame, that the children of the so called Minor gods, didn't get much respect. It was easy to see why in the previous war, and in this one coming up, that they traveled over to Saturn's side. In essence, the children of the minor gods, they were some of the strongest. Little Lyn was powerful asset to any team she was on. She was a lucky charm. That wasn't the only reason that Ronan liked having the little girl around. Miyuki, his best female friend, was a daughter of somnia. She had quite a talent. He seemed to sleep more peacefully after she had been around. He never wanted to leave this place. He hadn't even thought about where he would go to set up shop after he left camp. He had heard of a nice place in the northwest that he might settle down. A state that had cold weather most of the year, it rained almost all year and the winters were cold. He should have put more thought into it.

“They laugh because of the accent, it's hard to take someone serious when naught but few years back they couldn't speak a lick of latin or english.” He said simply shrugging his shoulders. He couldn't help but laugh. “Voice like thunder? No, maybe not. Though a friend has a real voice like thunder. He is....Awesome? Is that the right word?” He said rubbing a hand on his chin and tilting his head to the side. He wasn't sure if that was the correct word. Ronan still had trouble with the whole slang thing of English. “I was always told by everyone that I speak slowly and stupidly. There is no way to respect someone like that.” He said shaking his head as he thought about some of the other centurions that had been in charge of the fifth cohort over the years.

“You write your father? You are a dutiful daughter then.” Ronan said again nodding his head. It was nice to see that there were still children out there who loved their parents. It seemed that it was the normalicy that the demi-gods had troubled childhood. Himself included. But there were others that had great childhoods. Did Ronan envy them? Oh yes. If he ever had children, he'd do whatever he could to make sure that they were happy, that they had their parents. Though if he were to be honest, he'd always thought he'd be dead by now. That he would never be with someone who'd want to give a monster of a man like him children. “It seems like your father has a lot of heart.” He said, cracking a small smile. Her father must have been a real man to have such a daughter like her. Someone that would love unconditionally.” His face fell as he thought about his homeland of Russia. He thought he would love to go back to Russia at some point, but it was a country that he could no longer call home. But his mother was an American, so he was one too right? Or at least that's how he thought it worked. “I have no more family to write. Just Nova. Sweet little Nova. But she is here so no letters needed.” It was the bright side of things wasn't it? It was always better to look on that side.

“I would love to learn, though I am afraid I am a bit slow at learning things that are not like mechanical.” He said in his slow and accented voice. “I could always try to teach you russian, Though it has a different alphabet.” He said with another nod of his head. Then she asked if he would unfreeze the water. A look of realization dawned on his face as he formed an o with his lips. “Da, yes, of course!” He produced his hammer from his side that automatically lit up with his touch. He took the flame with the opposite hand and gently expanded the flame, sending it on top of the ice. It melted quickly before Ronan closed his fist and extinguished the light. It was always warm, like sinking into a super hot bath, the kind that left your skin all pink and tingly. It was quite a nice feeling. “It looks like you missed the fishes, so no one became a fish-cicle.” He said with a wink in her direction.

Zoète Liefdesgod❅ Maybe it was how her father raised her or maybe it was the things she had seen in her short life, but she had learnt that respect was something very important to learn and apply in every moment of one's life! Without respect everything around crumbled to the ground. She had seen it, people who used to say that they were the best friends in the world, without respect they just turned into the worst enemies ever! Lovers that had sworn over Styx that they would love each other forever and that they would give up their lives for the other, without respect, they cheated each other, they forgot about their hapinness and then just... well after that they just hated each other to death! Respect was escential in life that was like that. In an army it was... well more than just importan, it was everything! you needed to respect your superiors and they needed to respect you, only that way an army would work like a perfect oiled machine, like the perfect combination of snow flakes to make a snow man or an ice fort, people usually forgot that without respect... civilization just stopped being one and fell into anarchy and eventually in extintion. She looked at Ronan and then tilted her head how could he just accept in such way that they didn't respect him for his looks or the way he talked?! that was something bad! he needed more self confidence! "That is wrong! even if you weren't their centurion, they must respect you! maybe you speak with an accent, but you don't think with an accent! and no body is perfect! not even the gods!" she said and smiled softly at him and dared to place her slender, small, cold hands on his arm. it was really hot at the touch, if she hadn't been so cold due her mother, her hands probably would have felt as if they were touching a pan on the fireplace. She then smiled a bit more confidently and continued, "I know I almost know nothing of you, but I can tell you are strong not only in body, but in mind and in heart! Never ever let them make you feel different from that. Respect is the base of every well led army and group in life." then grinned and blushed, she always talked a lot. "Sorry, sometimes... I don't control my tongue... or hands... "she said and pulled her hands back not knowing if he would think bad of her because of her closeness to him. Then he told her what he thought about her for writing to her father, well... that was nice of him. "Thank you, I try my best... well... yes my father is an amazing man, Son of Venus himself, so... that makes him almost all heart." she said and sighed thinking of him for a moment. "I just can't let him come and fight... that would kill him!... not his body, but his soul... so I won't worry him with that... unless it is absolutely necessary." then she looked at him and he told her about how he only had little Nova, no one left back in Russia. She felt bad for him, it was a shame to lose everyone you cared about back home, but at least he got his sister, that was good! After that she smiled again and shook her head slowly. "Writing a letter is more than just communicating with those far from you, it is also about the... excitement of getting those news! or just to know if there will be a letter on your pillow by next day or next week! it is the feeling of being connected to someone you care about!" chuckles. "and a good way to practice English... why don't I write a letter to you, and leave it by the forge, then you'll reply and leave it... at the entrance of the fourth cohort... and so on! then you'll practice, I'll help you and you'll know the amazing power of a letter!" Then blushed again and slightly laughed, for some reason he made her smile a lot! Then he gently unfroze the water and she sighed in relief when she saw she hadn't hurt anyone. "thank you very much! that hammer of yours is just incredible!..." then she looked back at the water. "Snow and Ice can be beautiful... but without control, they can damage so many and so much!" she said smiling at the water, she didn't know that he could feel the same about Fire. Ronan secretly wished that he had a family, someone that he could look to for guidance and wisdom. A family was something that Ronan couldn't figure out why some people had it but just wanted to throw it away. But he could tell that Zoe really cared about her family, this one and even her father, there was nothing more endearing to him than someone who cared. Someone who took the time to write her dad or to make sure she didn't hurt anyone. He had spent all of those years feeling like a murderer because of what he did back in Russia. Lord Mors had been kind enough to talk to him but now he had blossomed into what some would call a good roman. Yeah he really had his work cut out for him with being the fifth cohort centurion. Not that he had much help. That son of Bacchus that was his counterpart, well he spent more time sleeping off hangovers than actually working. If that was what he wanted to do, fine, but the least he could do was support him and not undermine his authority. Some of the ones that cared, well they were the ones that Ronan built up. He tried to build up those that didn't care, but they were more and more common these days.

HE kindda looked down, noticing the cool hand upon his warm arm. "I tried that whole being nice thing and it didn't work. But fear seems to work better. I hate ruling by fear. Those that rule by fear do not remain in leadership for long." Ronan said. He remembered the history lessons he had been taught back in the orphanage of Russia. The Russian empire had been a powerful one, ruled with an iron fist and aristocracy had only grown richer. "I know I don't have to be perfect, but I wish i could find something to inspire the fifth cohort with. Anything at this point." Ronan couldn't help but shake his head at the thought. He wanted to be a good person and training by fear was no way to do it." MAybe he should have a good and solid sit down conversation with Charlie and Chris. He didn't expect them to divulge all of their secrets, but something to help him out. He couldn't help but give a deep and hearty laugh as she once again spoke her mind. "you are a very opinionated. It's a nice change." He said with a laugh. He couldn't help but laugh. She was so spirited. And it was the first time he had laughed in a really long time.

"A son of venus? Very nice." HE said nodding his head. "MY mother was a daughter of Neptune. I only recently found her folder in the principia after I had been promoted to centurion." Though past her file folder, Ronan didn't know much of anything about her. His grandmother didn't remember her as her mind was going. "You are a strong woman to protect your father so, but I for one wouldn't underestimate his strength. Many parents would fight strong to protect their children." Ronan said. He hadn't had much experience with parents, but from some of the stories he had heard from other, well it was a figuring that he hoped was true.

"I would be honored for you to teach me. And writing letters sound like fun. It will be a way for me to talk to you when things get busy. So we can keep up with each other if we can't see each other." Ronan said, more to himself than to her. Practicing another language would be something good. they said that knowing more than one language were better off. But he still didn't know what he would do after he left camp. But with the upcoming battle, it would give him something to take his mind off of the war at night. He wasn't looking forward to it. But it was inevitable. "I can even put a mail box up here." Ronan said, his mind already working on the next project.

Zoète Liefdesgod❅ Leadership was somehting that she didn't really know about, she was just a humble daughter of Khione and granddaughter of Venus, placed in fourth cohort by some miracle because she thought she would fall in the fifth cohort when she was a kid. Back then she only knew that it was the weakest one, well... she knew she was weak and that she should be there, then she was placed in fourth and haven't thought about it after that. But leadership was something that she had never ever thught until that moment talking to Ronan. She looked at him and noticed how worried he was about it, she didn't know him that well, but he had such earnest and pure eyes that it wasn't difficult to see it in his eyes. She knit her brows just a bit, only to show how worried she was for him, no trace of peety, because she felt none for him. "I know nothing about... leadership, or... how to lead a group, less a cohort... but maybe..." she said and placed her hands again in his. After melting the ice, they were really hot, burning would be the right word, but her body was cold, and it got a bit colder just to protect her hands from his heat. "you could aproach in the same way the snow does... or in your case the fire..." She said and for a second she remembered her own words at the water, she knew how dangerous it was to have some snow around, but... it was also so fun to have it, people laughed and played with it, enjoyed life with it and same happened with fire! people around a campfire, enjoying the heat, some delicious marshmallows toasted by the fire. Fire wasn't destruction but life. She was about to continue, but he laughed, he laughed so freely, with such life i that laugh that she couldn't help it, she laughed with him, he said he had liked her being so... opinionated... Well it was the first time someone had liked that from her! But it was nice when someone like him told her so. Then after laughing she smiled up at him. "well... thank you and... do you know you have an amazing laugh?! it is... like when the magnificent eternal icebergs crash against the others! magnificent and beautiful sound!" She blushed once again, why that happened so often to her when she was with him?! was it the heat coming from him that colored her cheeks? then he talked about her father, how he would do anything for her, and she knew it, he was right about that. Her father was all heart, which made her decided to never tell him about the war, she also told him about the past one, but after it passed. She would do the same this time.
