A midnight prank (tag: Edmund and Josh)

Rick looked around as he slipped out of his cabin and started to walk across the grass as the moonlight shined on his black clothing. He had planned a prank for Ed who did not like children very much and so he thought it would be funny to get the grouchy man back tonight. Rich was very good at sneaking around since he was a son of Mercury and so he could get around easily without being seen by anyone. He gets across the field and see's house that he knew the older man stayed in,which also happened to be his brothers house and he smiles as he runs over and gently opens the door smiling as it doesn't squeak as he slips in and see's that Ed is not inside as he takes out a screw driver and goes to work taking all the screws out of the mans furniture and putting pink hair dye into his shampoo and conditioner. After he finishes putting the dye in he packs up his tools up and slips back out the door into the night.







He heads back to the Barrack he shares with his other bunk mates and looks to the rest of the dye bottle in his bag. He heads back out and goes back to his brothers house and he slips in and heads to the showers and finds the one with his brothers shampoo in it. Rick goes in and puts the rest of the dye in it and shakes it up trying not to laugh as he puts it back up and checks to see if he brother is still asleep before slipping back outside. The young boy was not worried about his brother being angry at him as he knew he would not hurt him. Rick was more scared of Ed as he was not known to be a very nice person. He reaches his barrack again and goes inside and puts his night clothes back on and slips into bed and falls asleep.

but where's that s p a r k You used to have? Josh and Rhia had gone insane. Of course, all demigods had their own levels of crazy. They were all insane to an extent. But this? This topped the cake for Edmund Simons. Actually, anything possibly pointing toward the possibly of someone wanting him around or caring for him topped the insane cake. From there Ed would give a "you're insane, don't" spiel. Even after he and Josh has been though the quest, the son of Mercury was no exception. Had Ed adopted Josh into his own family? Yes, as unspoken and as unshown as it was. Still though, nothing could be more confusing to him as someone saying they loved him and wanted him to be a part of their family. So one could imagine his complete, total confusion when Josh said both things. From what rah had said to try to snap him out of it, he must've looked like a human buffering symbol. Complete with the "computing error 404" and "system reboot" message. After some back and forth with Ed's "you're insane, don't" and "wait, what?" spiel, he had finally given in. He knew he was far too late to argue the "not family" thing with Josh, the way his mind worked, but hey, Ed, being Ed, was obligated to try. Needless to say, Ed lost the fight and went with them. It had been a week or so since he had accepted the Rogers's offer. Work in the forge, and then bunk at their place. They wouldn't accept rent (idiots), so Ed agreed to help however he could around the house. Some nights he forgot that he actually had a house to go to. He'd spend the night in the forge, or go back on a random roof top. Even worse, he'd feel himself gravitating towards the first cohort barracks only to remember that he no longer had a place there. Old habits died hard. Tonight was a night he remembered to go back to their house. He wasn't tiered though, or just didn't want to sleep, he couldn't tell the difference anymore. So, instead of lying there looking at the ceiling, Edmund went onto their roof so he could lie there and look at the stars. He looked off into the sky, his mind off in his Orthys/dungeon thinking pattern. He stayed there until first light, and then decided that he should probably get ready to go back to the forge. The eighteen year old slipped back into his room, only to see screws everywhere. Alright. Edmund's mind immediately went to damage assessment. Bed, chair, and trunk down. Oh, the door handle too. He could fix this. He telepathically called Cinny out from under the bed, opened up one of his compartments and took out the tool box Charlie had given him. He opened it up, took out a screwdriver, and went to work. OOC: hope this's okay! IC: 479

Notes: this will be fun!!

Something that a thief had, was the never ending like of organizing and knowing exactly where he had left specific stuff in the places he dwelled, so he always knew if someone had been there or not. It was a bit more complicated when such thief lived with others, usually was a mess, but for someone like Joshua, it wasn't so bad. He knew Rhiannon too well, so he already knew the rutine she did and where she put her stuff and why. Also spending 6 months with someone helped you to know that person and at some point know how they act and where they put their stuff. He never trusted the other Mercury kids and some few that could use shadows. his house wasn't his hideout, but still he kept in there stuff he liked to keep in his possession. 

That night he was asleep with his wife right next to him, he was holding her and she was like always resting with her head on his chest, they were like the cutest couple ever. But that night he opened his eyes in the middle of the night, he heard something, he was sure he had heard it. But he didn't want to  wake Rhia up, so he stayed in bed just paying attention to everything around, then he finally slept again, not for long... after all he only slept like 3 to 4 hours per night and felt perfectly relaxed. 

But something happened again like an hour after that, he opened his eyes and kissed Rhia's forehead. "I'll go get some water, I'll be right back." he partially lied to her, but only so she didn't get worried, then he got up from bed and walked to the door, he opened it quietly as only a thief knew how to do it. He was wearing only some long boxers, black boxers and that was it. He walkd slowly around and looked into the rooms, then the sounds and small noises were comming from Edmund's room.

He peeked inside and then he looked at Edmund fixing his furniture. "what happened? you didn't liked them the way they were?" he asked and then looked at his friend and in his heart brother. Maybe he wanted to see how they were made or something like that, maybe he just couldn't sleep. He had noticed that Rhia couldn't for some reason, not a lot unless he was next to her. Maybe it was something that all the people in Othrys had.

It was mid-morning when Rick woke up the next morning and saw the sun high up in the sky. He got up and streched as he thought about the pranks he had pulled last night on his brother and Edmund and smiled as he searched for some clean clothes. He looked in his wardrobe and picked out some light blue jeans and a blue shirt and hoodie to wear and went into the bathroom to take a quick shower. Whe he had taken his shower and gotten dressed he grabbed an apple from a bowl on his beside table and munched on it as he walked through the door and started to take a walk around camp and see what all was going on. Rick saw people playing games and traning and decided he would sit and watch the two that were sword fighting for a bit as he wanted to check out their moves so he might could use them when spared with his brother someday. The young teen was not the best fighter and he knew it,but he wanted to make his brother proud so badly that he always tried so hard to get better and show people that he was not as weak as he looked. Rick watched them spare for awhile until he got bored and decided to go and visit his brother in New Rome,he got up and threw away his apple-core and started the long walk to his older brother Josh's house.

As he walked along he hummed to himself and looked around studying the scenery and tried to name all the species of tree's he saw from a book he read the other day. The young teen got bored with his game very quickly and pulled out a small device he had worked on yesterday and started to tinker with it as he walked into town. Rick was a tech-wiz and forever tried to invent things to help the other Demi-god's in camp,but they usually didnt work right and either did the opposite of what they were supposed too or they blew up. When Rick finally reached the house he wiped his shoes on the doormate and waked in knowing the door would be unlocked by this time, his brother had always told him to just walk in when he visted because he was family so he did not knock and just walked in. The teen looked around before he headed upstairs to see if his lazy brother was still in bed or not. Rick looked into Ed's room and saw him putting his furniture back together and smiled and couldnt wait till they used the dye laced shampoo when they took their shower's. He got to his brother's room he saw Josh's new wife was still asleep and so he knew his brother was up and so he walked back down the stair's to look for him.

but where's that s p a r k you used to have? Edmund had attempted mending/making furniture a few times in his life. All pre-Legion. His parents had brought home a couple pieces of "self construct" furniture. Ed had put them together in less than an hour. Besides the monster attacks and turning random lights on/off when he was scared, furniture piecing became one of the few signs that he was "different". Heck, whoever had did this to him... he had done the exact same thing. One night, when he was staying with Em, he had been so ticked off. She had taken away his carving tools! His carving tools. At the time (post fire) they had been the only things keeping him sane. All he could do was wood carve. It was better therapy than going to a therapist. Of course, he had searched the house, got his start in lock picking, but he couldn't find them. He couldn't find any knives or scissors either, oddly enough. When he was younger, he hadn't understood. Now... Anyway, during that knifeless period, he had taken up a plethora of hobbies. One of them included deconstructing the furniture. Needless to say, Em had been a bit beyond furious. Just a little. Edmund had kinda wanted to make her angry, in all honesty. After she raged, she'd leave him alone for a couple of days. Nothing except getting him stuff to eat, which was perfectly fine with him. Of course, after Edmund deconstructed everything, he'd put it back together.... only to take it apart again. It was something to do. Something to focus his mind on other than the fact that he could barely walk and had his house fire on replay in his head. At least he got a good grasp on how furniture was created and such. He looked up for a moment, thinking he heard someone moving around the house. His hand automatically went for his dagger in a sheath on his hip, before he relaxed. This was Josh and Rhia's house. It was probably just them. It wasn't so much himself he was worried about. No, he expected someone to come decapitate him. It was more Rhia and Josh. They were going to be friggin parents, and he knew that a lot of people weren't happy with the idea that both Ed and Rhia got to walk with a dishonorable discharge. Josh probably had his enemies too. Heck, he had taken both of them back in. Ed could only imagine what that must've looked like to people who didn't know him. Family argument or not. That's when Josh actually came in. "Sorry if I woke you up," Edmund muttered. He honestly didn't think he was being that loud. Then again, Ed's definition of loud was metal clanging, bellows pumping, and just general forge noises. He shook his head. "No, I found them like this." IC: 475

For Josh, sleeping was an activity that wasn't well enough practiced. Wehn he was a kid and his mom was around he slept around 6 hours a night, maybe not enough for a kid, but more than enough for a Mercury kid. After his mom died, nightmares about the monster kept him awake for hours, so he started sleeping less and less. Then some night only because of the like of listening him crying, his step father came into his room and beat him, he only beat him. So that also made Josh jumpy at nights. He started perfecting his thieving skills, getting away before the beatings, running as fast as he could and try to never lower his guard, that included less sleeping time. At the end he only slept like 2 or 3 hours and forced his body to think that it was healthy.

Only with Rhiannon he had been able to sleep more than that. Miyuki helped him to sleep better, more pleasently, but he woke up after 3 hours of sleeping, always. With Rhiannon he managed to sleep 4 or even 5 hours which was a record for him. But even then he was jumpy, he still woke up at first sounds. He knew Edmund was at home... Gods! both Rhiannon and him invited the vulcan guy to live there, but usually Edmund didn't do so much 'noise'. Standing by the doorway, he looked at Edmund and listened to his words. so he didn't undid the furniture, that was something that he didn't like... who could have gotten into his house and do that?

"Enemies..." he thought at the beginning, but who?! who could be so fast and so sneakery to get into the house, do that and make no sound at all?... No enemy would be so fast and quiet... "Zidane..." He thought of his older brother, but he hadn't seen him since War, so maybe it wasn't him, he for sure was still onver Valerie's grave. but then who could do that? "Ethan... or maybe Lance..." he thought on them, Ethan loved pranks and Lance could do it too... but then a name popped up in his head, it was so obvious that he almost hit his head on the door frame. "Rick!..." his baby brother was perfectly capable, he taught him how so why not him?!

He then looked at Edmund's work and smiled, they both were skilled with theit hands, but Edmund was an artists when it came to build stuff, no matter what. "if it happens again could you tell me?... I think I know who did it, but... still I'd like to know when people walk into the house." he meant other people, not family but... others, what if it wasn't his family, then they could hurt Rhiannon or Edmund. "I'll go get a shower and then I'll go find who did this..." smiles at him. but then heard some noise downstairs. "or maybe he's still here. "he ran downstairs and smiled at Rick. "so... furniture?" smirks at his baby brother.

Rick was sitting on the bottom stair of the staircase and tried not to laugh loudly as his brother was talking to Ed and trying to figure out how the furniture became unscrewed. He knew his older brother would figure out it was him eventually and he knew he was right when Josh said he knew who it might be. Rick hears his brother and stands up and smiles as Josh asked him so... furniture?" with a smirk on his face. This told the young boy that his brother thought his joke funny,but it would be a stretch for his other prank he had set up for the two older boys.

He nods to his brother and said "Yep I wanted to get him back for being such a grouch all the time brother of mine." Rick was a prankster an he knew that Ed would try to get him back,but Josh would keep the man from physically harming him in any way just as he had done when the two were younger. The young boy still had nightmares at times about what had been done to his older brother and woke up in a sweat till he remembered that his step-dad was dead and could no longer hurt them. Rick says happily "I think I will go down and get some breakfast Josh is Rhiannon up yet?" If the women was up he knew she would be hungry and so he would cook her some eggs and toast as that was the only thing he knew how to cook besides cereal. Josh had always been the one to make them food before they were separated for a few years till he had become old enough to come to the camp, Which was a nice place but Rick still missed his old home at times and wondered what would have become of them if their step-dad had been kind to them instead of abusive

Of course it wouldn't be enemies. Jadis would've roared or something. Someone inside the house then. Or someone allowed to stay inside the house. Any one else, Edmund had given Jadis the permission to pounce. She had been following Ed around ever since he'd gotten out of the trial. As if she was determined to keep an eye out him and make him stay in the camp/New Rome boundaries. So, him going to the Rogers's house had been no different. However, after his consideration on how much adversary the Rogers could get, Jadis had become something like a guard cat. As if seeing an almost 200 pound white lion wouldn't scare enemies away on a glance. If that didn't work, they got a growl. Last resort (if they were dumb enough to keep advancing) became getting pounced. Done purposefully wrong (which she had been told not to do), it could be lethal. Edmund knew that Jadis could do it in a non lethal way (she had pounced him as soon as he had gotten out of the court house). It took the wind right out of him, and left him a tad sore, but it wouldn't cause death. A tad bit paranoid? Maybe. Okay, yes. But he and Rhia were living with Josh in New Rome. They were sure to have vigilantes or whatever, and Ed could be contributing to the "putting the house in danger", so the least he could do was try to help protect it. He didn't even know why Jadis decided to come back to him. Animals and loyalty... He didn't deserve to call her his. Redpath and Yates had been the ones to stay. Not him. But Edmund was starting to get back on track to caring for her himself. So. Someone in the house.... He continued to fix the furniture absent mindedly. Or someone allowed in... That left Mercury spawn, and Rhiannon. Rhiannon didn't do jokes like this. Josh... maybe? But his face looked too genuinely concerned. As if he had gone through the same line of thought that Ed had: what if an enemy gotten in? (Then again, if an actual enemy had gotten in, there would've been a fight or a murder going on, so no. Unless said enemy got his or her kicks soley by making Ed's life harder, which could honestly be about anyone here.) So no, Josh was out. That left... Ethan, Quinn, Shade, Mercury himself or... didn't Josh have a brother? So, Rogers had an idea of who it was. Edmund gave a shrug. "Sure." So Jadis had let someone in... Yup. Definitely Mercury then. That, or she had fallen asleep. Which, given a lions actual sleep cycle, was odd. Edmund turned his head as he heard a noise downstairs and then looked at Josh. "Great," he muttered, starting to bind his bed frame back together. As if it got much use. OOC: Hope this is okay IC: 514

It was completely and absolutely normal and common that joshua would have thought of a weird attack to his house. And why wouldn't he feel like that, his wife was maybe the most hated woman in the legion and New rome, his adoptive brother, Edmund, was maybe the second, more than half camp and City wanted to see them dead. So it was normal that when something weird happened in the house, the first thing that crossed his mind was an enemy within... but then after checking all the elements, verifying all what was going on there, he realized it wasn't somehting like that. It was just his baby brother playing some pranks in the house.



He had left Edmund in his room, he didn't really need help with the furniture, he was really skilled with the hands. Besides, usually Edmund liked to work alone, and if joshua didn't find a reason to disturb his peace, then he wouldn't. Rhia had offered Edmund safe shelter in the house, and Joshua had thought it was a great idea. Safe shelter included that he could stay in his room alone if he wanted and no one would bother him at all. Unless he refused to talk to Rhia, then she would make the door fall and would get his sorry butt off his room. Nothing Josh could do there.



Rhia... His crazy witch. Maybe outside people wanted to hurt her, but inside the house she was a queen. Anything she wanted or desired, Josh would give it to her. Maybe their souls were condamned in the after life, but in this life, he was going to make her life to be the best in the world, the happiest woman ever. But to achieve that, he also had to achieve that the people in the house didn't kill each other, he knew Edmund and he knew he wasn't really a murderer, but he didn't either have the patience of a Monk, so he better find Rick and advice him not to go hard on Edmund. He walked to the kitchen and there he was... the little jokester. And he still had the incredible relaxed face that Josh had taught him to place on his face, long ago.



"I'm with you on that, he must relax a bit, but you must remember that we just finished a war, Rick. people is still edgy at some points, so please go easy with him. if he stab you I wouldn't be able to nag him at any point." He sat on the stool and the poured some coffee in his mug, then looked at Rick. "She's still asleep, but would love some surprise, of the good ones." then sipped from the coffee and after that he looked at him again. "Isn't Clare..." Rick's Centurion. "taking you guys to the pool today? you should be with your cohort rick, you're still in the legion for other 6 good years. Right?" smirks at his brother.
