Four Words {CLARE}

Jason had already filled out two request forms to leave camp. One for a Mr. Jason Kyoto and the other for a Miss. Clare Fontaine. And he had saved Remus the time by already accepting the requests, giving the two demigods a day away from camp to enjoy themselves. Jason checked himself in his room in the Principia. He wasn't too dressed up, just wearing a pair of jeans with no holes and a clean shirt in a solid color, he didn't look well in button up shirts. Plus, he didn't want to Clare to expect anything. He had sent her a letter during breakfast that read:

Dearest Clare
        You're excused from all practices and training today and are requested to join me for a day out in San Francisco. I'm taking you to the aquarium there so dress accordingly. It will be like two normal American teenagers going on a normal date. Meet me at the tunnels at 10 o'clock sharp.

Jason was almost giddy with excitement himself. He patted the right hand pocket of his jeans with his fairly new prosthetic arm. It was pretty cool, the forge monkeys really did a good job on it, adding nerve endings and everything, almost looking realistic. It was almost something off of Star Wars. Everything seemed ready to go. Jason took a deep breath and made his way out of the Principia, enjoying the morning air and the sounds of people going about their daily life.  It was a good day and if everything went right it was about to become a great day for Jason. 


He had told Ethan of his plan. Heck, he needed to tell someone, it was driving him up a wall. So, after curfew Jason sneaked into Ethans barracks, woke the sleeping goof up and told him his plan over some floats in New Rome. Jason was then tackle hugged by a big eared goofball in pajamas. He didn't mind. Jason was happy his little brother was excited, heck, he was excited. He had the entire day planned out. Jason ordered a car and this time he was driving and they were going to go spend the entire day at the aquarium and eat lunch in the food court or something. Okay, he didn't have the entire day planned out but he figured the aquarium would take up a majority of the day. Plus, there was room for adjustment in regards to the answer given to a certain question. 


Jason made his way to the tunnel twenty minutes before he told Clare that she needed to be there. That was good for him, it allowed him to try to relax and collect himself. Was his palms sweating? He rubbed them on the thighs of his jeans. Seriously Jason, you're taking Clare out for a date, you've done this dozens of times. What made this one so much different? That was a stupid question. He knew what made this one different. This date basically determined their future together because in the aquarium Jason was going to pop the infamous four letter question. He had already asked her father permission now all that was left was to ask the girl. That's correct. Jason Kyoto was going to propose to Clare Fontaine today.

Clare couldn’t hold back a smile when she got the invitation over breakfast. She’d spent much the rest of her breakfast time daydreaming, until one of her cohort mates snapped her out of it and reminded her that breakfast was over. She hadn’t even noticed everyone leaving trickle by trickle. That was at 8:45. After leaving the dining pavilion, she had hurried to take a quick shower and get back to her barrack. She knew it was just another date, but he had planned for them to leave camp and everything, plus there was the fact that she always wanted to look good for him. He was her everything, and while she knew he didn’t care about what she wore or anything so superficial as that, she still wanted to look good for him. So she changed into a cute blue dress, one of her favorites, and pulled the water from her still damp hair. Literally, she just pulled her fingers through her hair and ended up with a decent bubble of shower water in her hand, which she promptly dropped out the window to water the grass, and dry hair. Pretty handy trick. She brushed her hair and pulled it up with the help of a mirror, applied a touch of makeup, then promptly went to her relatively new friend, Sarah, from her cohort, who was a daughter of Venus and conveniently wore the same shoe size. Since the two had become friends, Sarah had helped Clare with fashion stuff, and Clare had helped Sarah become a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. So after a short chat, she came back with advice and a pair of cute sunny yellow high heels, thankfully not stilettos though. She didn’t trust herself in stilettos. Tie on a medium-sleeved denim jacket – aquariums could get chilly! – and a bright orange bracelet just in case blue and yellow wasn’t enough color.

She picked up the note Jason had sent her one last time and ran her finger across his signature and smiled. Today was going to be fun. Any day with him was fun, but a day out in the town, at the aquarium too? That sounded wonderful. She set the note down on her pillow and made for the door. Humming ‘Part of Your World’ from The Little Mermaid, she left her barrack and headed for the tunnel. She didn’t fail to greet practically every person she passed, good mood that she was in. When she got nearer to the tunnel that led out of the camp, she spotted him, but something was different… he had two arms. She ran – not an easy feat in high heels – to him and hugged him first, then pulled away and looked him over. “Jason, what-… you have two arms again? How?” She ran her hand down his prosthetic arm, but it felt so real she honestly couldn’t tell the difference. But then again, since when was something like an extra arm going to get in her way? She promptly kissed him, just briefly, and grinned. “A day out with the greatest guy in the universe. How lucky am I!”

Thankfully the clopping of high heels drew his attention to the colorful blur that suddenly entered his field of vision in a huge. A huge grin appeared on his face as he wrapped both his arms around her waist. Gods, that was a great feeling to be able to do. To just hold her, embrace her, keep her with him. Using one arm he felt like it wasn't close enough, secure enough, it wasn't the same. He loosened his grip as she pulled away and watched her hand as it grazed against his prosthetic, finally feeling her touch on the once vacant area. It was great. "Well, the Vul-"

Jasons sentence was interrupted as Clares lips met his in a kiss. Gods, this was already a great day and he could tell Clare was excited. He just hoped she didn't over excite herself and try to swim with the fish, which he highly doubted, so it was just an over exaggerated thought. He let out a soft laugh once the short kiss ended. "I don't know, I think I'm more lucky, I get to spent the day with the best girl in the world and I can even pull you into a hug since the Vulcan kids finished the prosthetic." Jason said as he promptly pulled her into a close hug and kissed her before a passing legionnaire snickered and hollered at them to get a room. Jason pulled away and fished out the keys in his pocket, making sure the other thing in his pocket still wasn't noticeable. He was trying really hard to be discreet about the entire situation. True, back in December he had told Clare that he planned on marrying her, but he said after the legion, which that could still work, just a little less than two years down the road, but that didn't mean he had to wait until then to propose. He was really trying to catch her off guard.

"I'm driving this time. Hope you don't mind." Jason said with a smirk, remembering their last date in which he had let Clare learn how to drive. It wasn't that she was bad, it's just that Jason wanted to cater to Clare entirely this day, treat her like a princess, which to him, she was one. He looked her over, because honestly, he had forgotten to because he was captivated by her smile. "You look beautiful by the way." Jason said as he kissed her cheek and offered his arm to her so that he could lead her out the tunnel to the rental car that was waiting for them. It wasn't anything fancy, just a little four door car, but it was nice, Jason wasn't going to drive around the love of his life in a chum mobile. No, just a cute little blue four door car that had a sunroof and awesome stereo system.

A real two-armed hug. This was fantastic! Well, not that she had a problem with one-armed hugs as long as they were from her beloved Jason. But the two-armed hug… ah, it felt good to have it back. And, well, she couldn’t help but kiss him. He was Jason Kyoto, her wonderful boyfriend, after all. So it was understandable. Even if she noticed she had sort of interrupted him. Whoops. This time she let him speak and listened with a smile. How could she not smile with his sweet words? It was truly impossible. She almost got the part about exclaiming about the prosthetic and announcing that the Vulcan kids would be getting a plate of fresh homemade cookies soon for their work, when Jason instead demonstrated his ability to hug her, complete with a kiss. That promptly focused her mind right back on him and their little date – though the forge would still find a plate of cookies in their midst before long. She frowned slightly as he dug in his pocket, wondering what he was after, but she was soon answered by the jingle of keys. She smiled.

“Good! No offense to your driving instructor skills, but last time I was so nervous! Not that it ruined the date or anything, just a side thought. Besides, you’re probably a better driver than me. So I don’t mind at all!” She laughed. Well, that and she was wearing heels; not exactly driving gear. She probably should have thought about that possibility when he said they were spending the day out in the city. Then again, she supposed, at least now, that she could just take them off if she’d have to drive. But yay for obstacle avoided completely.

She smiled brightly at his compliment. He was always so good at making her feel like she was worth so much. Even without words, he could do it. Just the look in his eyes. The smile on his face. Everything. “Thanks. And you look dashing as always.” When he offered his arm, she had to refrain a squee. He was such a gentleman, she truly was lucky to have him. And she loved him dearly. She hooked her arm around his offered one and smiled as he led the way. A cute blue rental car was waiting for them outside the tunnel. Where he managed to acquire these rental cars, she wasn’t really sure, but hey, why argue a good thing. It even had a sunroof. “You know, I don’t think I ever asked you if you yourself had your license. And when you got it between all this madness at camp. I mean, don’t you have to take classes and that sort?” Then again, she realized, what did it matter? His driving ability wasn’t the focus of today. “Sorry, tangent. I mean, I’m really excited for today, not to sound otherwise. What gave you the idea of the aquarium?” she asked as she climbed into the passenger seat, smoothed her dress, and fastened her seatbelt.

Truth be told he didn't have his license, but that didn't mean he didn't know how to drive. He just called up an old friend that he use to act with, transferred him some money and the guy rented the car to have it dropped off for them, since you technically can't rent a car until you were twenty-one. But Jason knew it would do him good to keep in touch with some of his old colleagues for later in life. Besides, just going to a demigod camp didn't mean he had to completely forget his life outside of it, right? At least that's what Jason believed, some people preferred their life to camp now, which Jason did too, he didn't exactly have a charming childhood, but he met some cool people, people he didn't mind keeping in touch with.

"If I told you I had a license would you feel more comfortable?" Jason said with a teasing smirk as he walked over as he walked her over to the passenger side of the car and opened the door for her, being the absolute gentleman he wanted to be. Clare deserved it after all. Without her he would still be in his flirtatious ways and wouldn't be anywhere near the man he was right now. He remembered that before the Valentines event he was trying to court a real pain in the butt daughter of Venus. Madison Petrotski. Honestly, he went after her because she looked good. But thanks to Cupid, Jason practically fell in love with Clare after that one Valentines dinner and dance. When they went swimming afterwards Jason was the happiest he had ever been and he knew right then, he wanted to be with this beautiful, smiling, joyous girls that the fates blessed him with. And in all honesty, Clare put all the daughters of Venus to shame, heck, in Jasons opinion she even put Venus to shame. Not that he would dare mutter that last bit out loud, well he would only if he felt a hundred percent sure Venus wouldn't be overhearing. Jason didn't feel like sacrificing Clare to a Kraken to appease the love goddess like what happened in that one myth. "I'm working on getting it now that there's some downtime in camp. But I'm a safe driver. I'll make sure no harm comes to you." Jason finished from his previous statement.

He gave a slight chuckle. "Well, okay, kinda corny, you're a daughter of Neptune and I know you like water and fish so I just thought you would really love it." Jason said, kinda embarrassed at the stereotype he was putting her under. What if she really didn't want to go to the aquarium? What if she hated the fact that fish were trapped like that? Shoot, did he mess up? He could always change last minute, maybe she would prefer the art museum, or wasn't there a children's museum somewhere? Or they could even just go somewhere, Jason didn't know exactly where. He cleared his throat. "If you want to go somewhere else that's okay too." Jason said as he closed the passenger side door after she got in and quickly walked over to the drivers seat, getting in and fastening his seatbelt, putting the key in the ignition and turning it on, pulling out onto the road with ease. "Today is your day so as long as it's someplace that makes you happy I'll gladly take you there." Jason added to his previous statement as he turned on the radio to whatever station came on, something with the latest hit, he wondered if there was a radio Disney station available. He knew that Clare loved Disney. Geesh, he really was nervous today, hopefully it didn't show, he thought he was doing a good job at hiding it.

Clare laughed at his question, getting what he meant all too well. She gave him a sly grin. “I think I could live without it, but a police officer might disagree.” She leaned up and kissed his cheek. “Just drive safe.” When he opened the door for her, she couldn’t help but smile. He was such a gentleman. “Thanks.” She got in and fastened her seatbelt and smiled up at him. “Well, I think that’s awfully neat that you’re learning how to drive along with leading a Roman military camp and everything that comes with that. So kudos. And I trust that you’re a safe driver. I’m not worried in the slightest.” She leaned slightly out of the door, if for nothing else than to be nearer him. His chuckles was cute. Like everything else about him, it made her smile. And his words made her laugh, in a good way of course. “Well you were right on! My mom used to take me to the aquarium when I was little and I loved it, but it’s been years since I’ve been. So many beautiful fish there. Though I promise I’ll try not to talk to them and earn you weird looks,” she said with a laugh. “No, I like the aquarium. Let’s go there.” She sat up as he closed the door and waited for him to get in too.

She smiled at him when he got in his own seat and couldn’t help but watch him as he prepped to drive. Every move he made, however trivial, made her smile. He really was perfect. For her, at least. She loved him dearly and couldn’t imagine being without him. When he had been in the infirmary recovering after the war, well, that was bad enough, but at least she could visit him. Now he was back out and about, still busy, true, but not today. No, he had taken all of today off for the both of them. She was still getting her head around that one. He was so thoughtful and loving. She was officially the luckiest girl on this earth. “Well that’s an easy one,” she said with a slight laugh, “anywhere with you makes me happy. We could go to a landfill and hike there or swim in a swamp with alligators and leeches, and as long as you were there…. Well, I admit the leeches sounds disgusting, but…” She laughed as way of finishing the thought. “How about we start with the aquarium though. That sounds peaceful and nice. As long as you’re not too bored by it or anything.”

Jason laughed as she drove, listening to her rambling. Gods, she was adorkable, but in an adorable way. "I wouldn't worry about the weird looks, I just might get jealous of all the fish stealing your attention." Jason teased, slightly. I mean, he knew Clare loved fish but it would kinda suck if he had planned out proposing to her at the aquarium and she was too busy talking to Nemo to notice. That would give him more embarrassed looks than her talking to fish. I mean, the latter he could just credit off as she's insane, not that he ever would. Just a precaution really, but he wasn't concerned about it. He had a gut feeling everything would work out just fine for today.

At a red light her turned and gave Clare a smile, reaching over to squeeze her hand softly. "You're adorable, but I think we'll do the aquarium instead of the landfill, I know I'd prefer it." Jason said before turning his attention back to the road once the light changed from red to green. "Plus I'd be with you, how could I ever be bored with that." Jason finished as he focused on the road, trying to remember the way to the aquarium, finally turning into the parking garage for it that had a little walk over tunnel that stretched across the road below and into the aquarium. Since it was a weekday and school had started back already in the area it wasn't too crowded, no screaming children on summer vacation at least. Just a nice handful of people. Not that Jason was complaining, it made it a bit more intimate with the less people and at least now he didn't have to worry about accidentally tripping people while he went down on one knee.

He turned off the car after parking and got out of the car quickly so that he could walk over and open Clares door. "Here we are m'lady." Jason said in his best British accent, offering her his arm once she climbed out of the car. Yep, today she was being treated like a princess, not that Jason treated her any differently any other time. Today he would just try extra hard to make sure to see that gorgeous smile on her face and make sure she was happy. "We just got to go through that tunnel over there and we're in. And don't worry, I already bought the tickets and the best part, I think they have salt water taffy available to purchase if you want some." Jason stated leading the way.

She looked over at him as he drove and smiled. “Then I’ll just have to tell them I’m busy.” Which she was perfectly prepared to do. “Because honestly I would pick you over fish any day. Can’t hug a fish. That and I’m not madly in love with fish.” She laughed and looked back out the windscreen to the city beyond. It really was a pretty city. The people, the colors, the vibrant life at its rawest. And she looked back to Jason. Her Jason. The man she loved. He looked so handsome, framed by the gleam of the sunlight, like Apollo was doing his best to show off his wonderful son. Not that she blamed him. If she had a child as wonderful as Jason, she would probably brag about him too. A faint smile crossed her face. That was one of her secret daydreams: growing old with Jason, having a family. A little toddler taking after Jason to love and to hug. To play games with and to teach how to swim. Or a little girl too, she wasn’t particular. Just a family of her own. Hers and Jason’s. It was a dream.

Clare was brought back to the realm of reality when Jason squeezed her hand. She focused back on him with a smile. “Thanks. And that sounds like a good idea. The landfill… kind of gross.” She laughed slightly and wished so much she could hold him right now, but there was the whole driving thing. Details. “You’re so sweet. And thoughtful and kind and gentle and the whole nine yards. I love you so much, Jason. And not just because we’re taking a day off and going to the aquarium,” she added with a giggle. She would simply have to owe him a kiss next time he wasn’t driving. Which, conveniently enough, presented itself a lot sooner than expected, as they pulled into the parking garage. It was surprisingly empty, which was nice because, as much as Clare did like children, a pile of them running and screaming while her and Jason were on a date did not sound as appealing. She was about to get her door when she noticed Jason hurrying to do it for her, so she sat back and laughed slightly as he opened it. “Jason, you’re too sweet.” She climbed out of the car and, oh, look at that, opportunity. She waited until he closed the door and locked the car, then promptly kissed him smack on the lips. After a second, she pulled away and smiled. “There, now we can go.” She looked to the tunnel he mentioned and nodded. “We got a really good parking spot then! And you got the tickets already? My my, how long have you been plotting this? And salt water taffy? You really know how to treat a girl,” she said with a laugh. “Then come on, let’s go!” She took his hand and followed his lead.

Jason would spend all day kissing her if he could, well, at least a few hours, a whole day may seem too extreme. The point was, he loved her kisses, especially if they came as a surprise like the one did when she came out of the car. At he question about how long he had been plotting it he let out a slight chuckle. Months? Since their second date? Well, thats about when he decided he wanted to propose to her, but of course he waited, mainly because he didn't know how to do it. I mean, Jason use to be an actor, he liked to go big with the proposal, have an audience and he wanted to make sure that Clare would like the setup too. So it took him a bit to think about it. He had at one point thought of doing one of those dinner on a boat things, but, even though Jason and Neptune had gotten along a lot better lately, he still didn't want Neptune to capsize the vessel because he changed his mind last minute about Jason marrying his daughter, despite already having asked permission.

That wasn't his only idea for the proposal too. He had thought of finding a way to take her to Venice, ya know, the city in Italy with water roads but then Jason remembered Clare couldn't get on a plane and Jason had no way to get there unless they took a boat but that would be a long trip and would take him away from camp too long. It was probably a month ago, a couple days before the war when Jason realized the aquarium. He had felt so stupid for not thinking of it sooner and it came as such a eureka moment while he was pretending to focus on his paperwork but his brain had drifted off somewhere else. Either way, once he had figured it out he had looked up how much tickets costs and put the planning on hold until war. However, once he got Neptunes permission and a guestimate from Nova on how soon his arm would be done Jason ordered the tickets and got the arrangements for the car all set up and got the ring custom made for her in New Rome. Then he just had to make sure to keep all his plans hidden from Clare and try to not seem like he was hiding something. Jason thought he did a good job at it. "Oh, it was just a spur of the moment decision. Figured we'll do something happy and exciting after all the post war stuff had died down some." Jason said. Okay, it was kinda a lie, but if he said months it would sound like he had been plotting something and he didn't want Clare to guess at anything. He want the surprised effect.

He lead her to the entrance and they went through all the entrance things that make it so you can get inside the aquarium. Jason picked up a brochure map combo thing and opened it. "So... we can see red fish, blue fish, one fish, two fish. Oh wait, no, thats the Dr. Suess book isn't it?" Jason jokingly said to Clare. But in reality all he saw on the list of exhibits was this kind of fish, and that kind of fish, small fishes, and big fishes. He would let Clare lead him to her favorite fish, there, that would work. He should probably figure out her favorite fish anyway. Wasn't that important to Neptune descendants? Plus, maybe then he could get her it as a pet for an aquarium in a few years, unless it was one of the huge fish or ones that wouldn't survive in an aquarium, then he wouldn't harm the poor fishs life, he would just get Clare a goldfish. There, common and who didn't like a goldfish? They were cute and the snack brand was amazing too. Great, now Jason was craving goldfish. "How about, since you're the aquatic expert, you lead me to your favorite exhibit." Jason said tilting the map so that she can see. There, and after a few moments of staring at the fish he would propose.

Clare noticed a slight delay in his answer when she asked how long he’d been planning this, and figured maybe he was just embarrassed to say or something. Aw, maybe he’d wanted to take her here since before the war and just couldn’t get away from the workload. Gods knew he had so much on his plate. But today he didn’t. And while he had said that today was for her, she was determined to make sure he had fun too. He needed a day off. So honestly, she thought his little pause was endearing and adorable, the all of two seconds that it lasted. And when he spoke up, she figured he confirmed her thoughts. Like he said, this was now that all the war stuff had died down. So see, he probably had been planning this since before the war, he just didn’t want to admit it. Which was so cute. He was so thoughtful. She smiled, then kissed him one more time for good measure, just something nice and brief. “Well, it’s a brilliant idea. I think we’re going to have a wonderful time. And you’re right. Now that the war is over and the cleanup practically done, gods know you deserve a day off. We all do. But mostly you.” She smiled and took his hand, following his lead to the tunnel he mentioned.

There were a lot of things to get into the aquarium; she was rather surprised by that. It was like airport security or something. Okay, maybe not that bad. Though she’d only heard rumors about airports, never having been to one. The whole not being able to fly thing. Details. Thankfully he already had the tickets so no real waiting in lines was necessary. Not that she minded. People watching was rather interesting, and plus, she had Jason here, so she didn’t care if she was standing in a boring old line just as long as she was holding his hand, with him, near him. Finally, they did get inside and she was too busy looking around the place to notice they had passed a map stand. Thankfully, Jason was paying attention. They both stopped as he opened up the map and started looking through it. At his first suggestion, she had to laugh – in a good way. “I’m sure we can find red and blue fish here, and probably more than two of them too.”

She wrapped her arm around his as he looked over the map. She couldn’t really see it too well, but she was okay with that. If need be, she could just ask to see it. But lo and behold, she didn’t even need to ask. Before she thought to, he tilted the map towards her and told her to lead the way. She used her free hand to hold the edge of the map and read it over. Her eyes lit up. “Oh, I know where we should go! Looks like it’s… along this hallway… to the right… and down a little further… okay, got it. Come on!” She let go of the map and lightly tugged him along the hallway and to the right and down the hallway a bit more. Finally they got to what had to be the most brightly colored exhibit there. A graphic sign above the glass read: The Tropics. Inside were any number of rocks with anemones growing on them and waving in the slight artificial current. And fish. So many fish. Clare grinned. “There! That one there!” She pointed out a brilliantly blue, black, and yellow fish near a bright anemone. “ It’s Dory! A Regal Blue Tang! Isn’t she beautiful? That’s probably my favorite kind of fish. So pretty!” She looked to Jason with a smile to see what he thought. Hopefully he liked the fish too. She didn’t want to bore him.

Jason happily followed Clare as she lead the way down the hallways with small aquariums of different type of fish. Well, at least Clare was right there was red fish and blue fish, and far more than two fo them for that matter. As he walked with her he tried to get his mind off of what he was going to do and prayed that his hand wasn't sweating from nerves so as not to worry Clare. See, it was possible for even a praetor of Rome to get nervous, especially since he was thinking of all the things that could go wrong. What if he went down on one knee and popped his leg at the same time and just had this face like "ow"? That would surely ruin the effect. Or what if he goes down one knee and slips and falls on his face like "ow"? Or, wait, why did all the thoughts end up with him getting physically hurt? He could handle physical pain, to an extent obviously. He was more worried that there might be a tiny possibility she would say no. He felt ninety-nine percent sure that she was going to say yes, I mean, she practically did back when he made mention about marrying her while they were decorating the principia. That memory brought a smile to his face, he knew that mistletoe would come in handy.

He looked at the sign before entering the exhibit. The tropics. He was taken away at all the colorful fish. A grin stretched upon his face, then Clare pointed out her favorite fish. He couldn't help but laugh. "Oh my gods, it really is Dory. They're amazing, so many different kinds of fish. Oh and look!" Jason said as some clownfish swam past. "You even have some nemos here too. This is amazing." Jason said, he really was enjoying himself and he wanted to make sure Clare knew that. The fish they had were marvelous. He looked at her and saw that beautiful smile of hers stretched across her face. "But none of these fish are as beautiful as you." Jason said kissing her cheek and then moving a strand of hair out of her face. He kept looking at her as he grabbed her hands.

"Clare, this war made me realize how short the life of a demigod can be and that we need to say how we're feeling about each other more often. Clare, I am so happy you and I are were we are today, happy and in love and I don't want a day without that. Never. I don't know what I would do if I any harm comes to you." Jason said as he let go of her hand and fished for the box taht was sitting snug in his pocket as he went down on one knew, opening the box revealing the ring, he had it custom made and to look like the water because only the best for his Clare bear. The small amount of people were turning their heads to see what the two teenagers were doing. Jason took a quick breath, holding out the ring with one hand and holding one of her hands with the other. "Will you marry me?"

There were so many exhibits to see. She’d never been to this aquarium, but it looked like a good one. The fish were noticing her passing by too, and calling out to her. How they knew her name, she wasn’t exactly sure though. She smiled at them for now, then spoke to Jason, “We’ll have to visit the other exhibits too… to be fair to the fish” She hoped he understood. And didn’t mind. It was a big aquarium, and there were a lot of fish, and, well, fish tended to be excitable. She glanced at him and noticed he wasn’t looking at the fish they were passing at all. Then again, she was pulling him along, so she couldn’t blame him if he was watching his step. Like she should be. Right back to that. Finally they got to the exhibit of the Tropics and it was just as beautiful as she had hoped. A few of the fish swam to the glass and started their tirade of hellos and questions, but most of them seemed too preoccupied with, well, swimming around. Three young clownfish were playing a sort of game of tag, which brought a smile to her face. They were so cute. She loved children, be they human, fish, or horse… or kitten or puppy. Or-… ok, you got the point. But especially the first three since she could converse with them.

She grinned at Jason, who seemed to be enjoying the exhibit too. “I know right? Aren’t they beautiful? And yes, the nemos too! Those three are playing tag. Aren’t they sweet?” She hugged his arm more or less because she was overcome with squee. It happened. Until he spoke up again. Then the squee really hit. “Awww, Jason. You’re the sweetest guy on this planet. Ever.” A kiss and a gentle touch and life was perfect. He took her hands and she quite forgot about the fish, and instead stared into his beautiful blue eyes. She fell silent as he spoke, simply smiling when situation called for it. Gods, he was sweet. And he was right. They were so happy together and in love, she never wanted that to change. They were perfect for each other. She loved him dearly since the day they met and life without him… well, the time that he had been in the infirmary had been lonely enough. She never wanted to be without him again.

Then he did the last thing she expected: he dropped to one knee. Her eyes must have gotten the size of dinner plates and a good portion of the fish – and people – stared, but she didn’t even notice. She could swear she was almost hyperventilating when he pulled out that gorgeous ring and just the look on his face and oh my gods. As soon as the words left his mouth, she squealed audibly and pretty much tacklehugged him, grinning like mad. “YES! YES! A thousand times yes!” She was definitely crying right now, she was so happy, but she just clung to him with all the joy and excitement bursting out of her. This was the best day of her life!

Jason raised a slight eyebrow at the squeal but before he could ponder whether it was a good squeal or a bad one he found himself fallen over from Clares tackle hug. Finally, her exclamation made the answer quit clear to him that he let out a relieved chuckle and hugged her back. If people weren't staring before, they definitely were now, some even applauding the newly engaged couple. Not that Jason paid any attention to that. No, he was too caught up in the hug with his beautiful Clare, the best girlfriend he ever had and now he had the honor of calling her his fiance. Fiance, just the thought of that word made Jason happy on the inside, and on the outside as his smile made quite clear.

He looked at the face of his beautiful fiance and saw the tear marks, he placed a hand against her cheek and wiped them away with his thumb. His own eyes a little moist full of happy tears. He took the ring out of the back and reached over to grab Clares hand and put it on her ring finger, then he kissed her. A passionate kiss full of all the waiting he did up to this moment and full of the overflowing love he had for her, full of the happiness that they were going to be together till they met again in the Underworld after they have died of old age in each others arm. They had their whole life ahead of them, and although things might change in their life, Jason was determined to make Clare the happiest fiance, bride, and finally wife. He had hoped he already made her the happiest girlfriend.

Finally, after a few minutes Jason pulled away from the kiss, breathless and let out a chuckle. "Gods, I love you Clare Fontaine. You're my fiance. Just, saying that. You're my fiance. We're going to get married. Gods, you've made me the happiest man alive." Jason managed to choke out, his face slightly red from the people still walking past and looking at them and giving congratulatory cheers. But it was all out of happiness. He kissed her again for good measure, not as long as the previous one, but not a super short one either. "So how jealous are the fish now?" Jason jokingly said to his fiance, yes, he was going to keep up calling her his fiance, he was overjoyed. But he knew that Neptunes creatures loved his children as much as they loved their king of the sea. Jason wouldn't be surprised if some of the bubbles in the tanks coming from the fishes were partnered with some ill phrases for Jason for winning the hand of Neptunes beautiful daughter.

She was pretty sure she hadn’t felt this light-headed since she had dared her childhood friend to a spin around in circles contest to see who would last the longest. But not at all in a bad way! In an absolutely wonderful way! She could hardly believe what was happening! Sure, he had brought up marriage once back around Christmas, but she had figured that wouldn’t come until way down the road, since they were both in service still. Could you even be married and be in the service? Hold on, Josh Rogers was. So it could happen. And if anyone knew, it was probably Jason, since he was a praetor. Not that she minded waiting however long he wanted. He was her fiancé now. That was what was important. Someday, however long it be away, they would be wed. And before that, well, she still planned on hardly ever leaving his side. Oh, all her silly day dreams seemed to be coming true! Her and Jason growing old together, raising a family. This was the beginning of the rest of her life. And wow, was she excited.

Their eyes met and she could see the joy behind his gaze too and that just made her all the happier. All she could do was watch in an almost dreamlike happy state as he put the ring on her finger. It was a perfect fit. “Oh, Jason. It’s beautiful. This is all so perfect!” Then he kissed her and, well, things got more perfect. She could faintly hear the applause, but didn’t really care. She could also faintly hear the fish chattering, but she wasn’t really paying attention to that either. She just wanted to kiss him like this forever. Which would be a little hard, seeing as air was needed, but she figured she’d sort that out when she got to it. Thankfully, he seemed to be on about the same page, as he pulled away at just about the same moment she decided air was becoming a pressing matter. She grinned at him ear to ear, too happy to contain herself. Oh boy, the tears were coming again. She blinked them back. “I love you too, Jason Kyoto. So much. And I’m going to be your wife. Til death do us part, and even then I plan on staying with you in the Underworld. My fiancé.” She laughed out of sheer joy. “Then we’re a perfect pair because I’m the happiest woman alive.”

At his question, she giggled. Because the fish were really making quite a ruckus. “Well, at first they were really confused. Since fish don’t go through the same process as we do, they didn’t understand. Then one of your nemo friends figured it out and now…” she paused to listen and smiled. “I think word has spread to at least half the aquarium now. Did I mention fish excite easily?” She grinned and hugged him again, adding in a quick kiss for good measure, then stood up and offered a hand to help him up, still all smiles.

He was pretty sure the smile on his face hadn't fallen at all since she had said yes. He was just ecstatic, yes, that was the perfect way to convey what he was feeling. Jason listened as she said she was the happiest woman alive to be paired with hims saying he was the happiest man alive right now. Gods, he needed to thank all the gods for blessing him with this moment. Especially Cupid, if it wasn't for him, Jason and Clare wouldn't be where they were at right now. Who knows if Jason would have even formally met her. Gods, that was a depressing though. She helped him become the man he was today, the strong Praetor and very much looked upon son of Apollo. It was almost like being famous in Camp, minus all the paparazzi, but everywhere he went people knew his name and he always tried to go through all the files in his head to guess their name. It always brought a smile to the persons face if the praetor knew them, unless they had a record of doing something bad and had met with the Praetors on more than one occasion, then they probably would wish they would forget him.

Jason gave a chuckle at the fish comment and was given a tight hug and quick kiss, both of which he returned. He grabbed her hand and pulled himself up before pulling her into a hug again. "Well then, I guess they're going to be wanting to ask you a million questions. We're now the celebrity couple of the aquarium." Jason said as he moved a strand of hair out of her face. "I'll also have you know, I did ask your dad beforehand and was able to leave the scene by not being turned into a fish." Jason said before kissing her forehead softly and pulling away from the hug and grabbing her hand, intertwining their fingers. "Now c'mon, we have an entire aquarium to still see, and I owe you some saltwater taffy." Jason said with a slight smirk as he started to lead the way.

Overall he was proud that she said yes and felt like an idiot for even thinking she would say otherwise. They were both madly in love with each other, Jason knew that had to be a fact. He didn't know why he had anxiety for today. Either way, everything worked out. Jason hoped to always love her as much as he did at this moment. To end up being one of those parents who make their kids cringe due to how madly in love they were with each other. Yep, that was one of his goals in life, mainly because it meant that he kept Clare happy in love with him as much as he loves her.
