Emalia didn't take days off often. However, she did remember that, every once in a while, it was possible to have a life outside of a job. Too much of anything could be considered unhealthy, after all. Or at least that's what one of her co-workers had told her years ago. If one chased after something ruthlessly and unrelentingly, it could pretty much be called an obsession. One of the most dangerous obsessions where that of revenge. Of course, her first intention hadn't been that, but after a while, it did start to look rather appealing. She was never able to forgive them for taking her sister, but at least they had given her back. Then again, nothing could replace those ten years without her. It had been like someone snapping her in half and leaving her with the part of her that had the ability to drive her insane. Stupid twin mojo or whatever they were calling it now. Maybe it was true, maybe it was not, but she was pretty sure she felt blindly terrified at least five times while Alexis was away. Maybe it had been that fabled twin link. Maybe it had been Em falling deeper and deeper into the never ending pit. Whatever that place did to her, Em would never know. But now she had a pretty good idea. Even though Alexis never talked about it, Em had been gathering and learning about the place since she had joined Avetis. It seemed insane over there. No wonder Alexis came back shell shocked. You had to survive a wolf. And even after that, it was a low survival rate. Trainings. Cohorts. Gods. Wars. Quests. All while between the ages of ten and twenty. So far, she had lost two people to the place. Not that the second one really mattered though. She hadn't really heard anything new except that there had been a recent quest and war. Plenty of opportunities for people to die during that. Maybe one of them had been him.
The dark haired woman sighed, content for a few moments to just sit outside by a library and watch the people move around. She had been one of them, years ago. She had been oblivious to this world. Sometimes she wished she still was. At least now she knew the horrors that place went through. What it put their children, no, child solders, through. Sometimes ignorance was bliss... but not to her. Now she knew what she was fighting for, and who she was fighting against. But she felt confident that they would win. The problem with that place was it was proud. It rarely changed its ways. It stuck to tradition. Worship the gods. Don't question orders. Maintain and keep your status throughout the years. Their weapons were outdated. They were no match for Avetis. They were no match for the modern world, and the new modern minds that they had bred.OOC: Welcome to awkward Em thread week!
