Jason was all decked out in his King Arthur costume that he and Clare had gotten together, her getting a nice dress to be his Guinevere so that they would be that corny couple that matched. Either way, he made sure everything was on right and proper and took a deep breath and walked over to get her from her cohort, which he had previous told her he would pick her up from. He was just a gentleman in that way for her. Plus, he was eager to get this night started, mainly so he could get "sick" and have to be taken care of after the Halloween event. Which made him wonder if Remus would end up going to the principia early or not. Jason hoped, for his sake, not.

Either way, Jason made it to the fourth cohort barracks and took a deep breath before knocking on the door for Clare. He couldn't help but think of her, even if she was about to appear and smile at the though. She really was a blessing to him. Before her he was just, well, a flirt. But she came and well, it was love at first sight, if you believed in that kind of thing. She helped him become the man he was now. The mature one who ended up becoming a praetor and leading Camp Jupiter with Remus Stone. Without her, who knows what his life would be like right now. He was truly thankful for her and still couldn't believe that she agreed to marry him. Clare Kyoto, the sound of that name made him smile. Even if the last name was one he randomly pulled from a tourist book when he was younger. It had a nice ring to it, even without him having an Asian heritage, which who knows he might. He honestly only knew of his godly one. Which was fine. He liked the family he made.

Clare ran a brush through her hair one more time to make sure it was perfect, then went to the mirror again. She’d picked out a blue dress, one that Jason had said brought out her eyes. She smiled at herself in the mirror and did a quick turn around to look at herself over her shoulder to make sure the back looked okay. Good by her standards. She grabbed the silver tiara from her bed and fit it over her forehead, checking that it was straight in the mirror. Oh, she was so excited! She sat back down on her bed and thought about Jason: probably the happiest topic there was. She remembered their first date, on Valentine’s Day. She would forever remember that day. He’d been such a gentleman, had even gotten her salt water taffy. And they had a lovely evening, followed by going swimming in the lake together. Overall, she would have to give their first date an A+. Even just an hour into that date – maybe not even that – she knew she wanted to be with him. He was handsome, charming, gentlemanly, sweet, everything she could have ever wanted in a guy. He was perfect for her. And now she was marrying him.

Then came a knock at the door of the barracks. She grinned and got up, smoothing out her dress and heading over to the door. When she opened it, her eyes grew a bit wider, mostly thanks to the handsome, regal guy waiting for her on the other side. “Oh my gods, look at you, Jason! I mean I saw you when you tried it on, but still. You look like the real King Arthur!” She hurried up to him and threw her arms around him and kissed him. What could she say, she just couldn’t help it.

Jason chuckled but it was cut short when Clare's lips found his. He happily returned the kiss, holding his fiancee close. Gods, it was wonderful to finally be able to call her that. Sure, around this time last year he had officially agreed with himself to marry Clare, but one day. He was actually thinking of doing it once both of their services had ended, it seemed the mature thing to do. But, after the last war, he didn't want to wait any longer. He couldn't stand the thought of something happening to her and never being able to call her his wife.

He pulled away from the kiss and looked her over. Gods, she was beautiful, but when was she not? That was the true question. "Thank you. And, wow, you look better than any depictions of Guinevere I have ever seen. Now I have to be extra cautious that some Lancelot doesn't end up stealing you away from me." Jason said ending on a chuckle before offering her his arm. "Now then, may I escort my beautiful queen to the Halloween party?" Jason asked, giving her one of his amazing smiles. He liked to think there was a special something that showed on his face whenever he was with Clare. Something that made it known that whenever he was with her, he was more happy than anytime before, because in all honesty, he really was. THat was just one of the many reasons he loved her.

Clare couldn’t help but smile. He was so sweet. And the way he looked at her just made her feel so… important. Loved. All that sort of good stuff. Great stuff. He was her everything, and if she got no one’s approval but his, she’d be happy still. And kissing him. Gods, kissing him. She could never get tired of that. Just being with him was perfect. She pulled away from the kiss just as he did and smiled. How could she not smile? His words brought a blush to her cheeks. He was so sweet. “Aww, thanks. Well, if a Lancelot did come and try to steal me away from you, I wouldn’t go without a fight. No one can hold a candle to you.” She leaned up and for good measure gave him a quick peck on the cheek. When he offered his arm, she gladly hooked hers with his.

She pretended to ponder his question. “Well, my handsome king, I suppose I could use so noble an escort.” She probably looked really silly with so big a smile plastered on her face. Oh gods, imagine what the wedding day would be like! She’d be so happy she’d probably break into hysteric sobbing or something. Go figure. She’d have to work on her composure before February. Then again, wasn’t it sort of socially acceptable for the bride to cry? Happy tears, of course. But still acceptable. She hoped. But back to the matter at hand. His crystalline blue eyes just made her melt. She couldn’t help but stare, even though she knew she should probably be doing something like maybe walking. Honestly, she didn’t care if they got to the party a little late as long as that little lateness involved James Kyoto. Even if it was just because she was staring like an idiot. Again the thoughts of February surfaced. She’d be looking into those same gorgeous blue eyes when she pledged herself to be by his side for the rest of her days.

Jason couldn't help but chuckle. Sure, he was being corny and all with Clare but for him, it just seemed normal to joke around with her. That was something to look for in a life partner, at least in his opinion, the opportunity to be yourself with and make corny jokes and be able to enjoy a random night in alone together. That was all important and true, he never really imagined he would find the love of his life at such a young age, eighteen, how did he get so lucky? There were people even in their thirties who were looking for love and now when he was thirty he'll, hopefully, be celebrating more than a decade with his lovely Clare Bear. It was amazing, and he couldn't help but be happy about it.

"The nobility is all an act, my love." Jason said with a chuckle as he lead her all the way to party. It was such a lovely fall evening too. Not too hot and not nearly as cold as some parts of the country were right now. It was good. He enjoyed the warm weather and sunshine. He supposed he could think his father for that. For the prior orphan it was kinda nice to see what traits he had inherited from his father, something he still wondered what his my mom was like but lately the only woman on his mind has been Clare and the prospect of the kind of family they'll one day raise together. The idea of having a family all of his own was pretty exciting, not to say that Ethan wasn't his family, they were adopted brothers, or that his relations in camp didn't matter. Just, he wanted one of those close-knit families he always had a part of playing in movies.

Clare laughed and kissed his cheek. “An act, is it? I knew you were an amazing actor, but still. Besides, how long have we been going out? You act a lot.” She was teasing of course. Ah, she could remember it now. The first time she’d officially met him, at the Valentine’s Day Party all those months ago. She had to admit, she’d been a bit of a spaz, which she wasn’t always proud of, but he loved her even for that, so that was good. Though come on, he had salt water taffy for her on their first ‘date’. Plus he was certainly dreamy prince material, which to a Disney fanatic was like finding a diamond in your sandbox as you pretended to build a castle. Sure, like any girl her age then, she’d been wishing someday to find her prince and get whisked off her feet, but there was always that lingering, nagging idea that it might not happen. That the world was not a Disney movie and things didn’t always turn out right. For instance, if they did, those cute little African Penguins wouldn’t be endangered (seriously, who would hurt a penguin?). Sure, penguins were not one hundred percent in her father’s domain, though she had no idea to whom they would be, but she loved them all the same. Cute little waddles and diving in the water and the fuzzy little puffball baby penguins. But she digressed. The point was, there had been a smidge of her mind that knew not all fairy tales came true.

Until that day. Low and behold, she had been set up to go on a date with a real life (in everything but actual title most likely) prince. Handsome, charming, loving, thoughtful, dashing, everything. It was no wonder she fell for him, and fast. He was her everything. And now she was his fiancé. They were going to be married in less than a year, and she couldn’t be more excited. “Jason? Just thought I should mention… I really, really love you,” she said with a smile. She took a deep breath, just taking it all in, and looked around the party. “Well, my king, where shall we start? A dance? Punch? Or just mingle and talk with people. Or, you know, find our own corner so I can just get lost in your eyes and forget about the rest of the world.” She was teasing. Sort of.
