Dressed up as CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow, Mercury wobbled around. No he wasn't drunk, but he could at least act like it. After all, Captain Jack Sparrow was notorious for his love of rum. HE found a pretty girl, removed his feathered hat with a sweeping bow before moving on. He wasn't about to get in trouble because he wanted to flirt with a girl who already had a boyfriend. Not that the idiot could do much trouble to him. Sure he might ache afterwards, he might get a cut here and there, but he was fast. He could steal the boys clothes off of him before he knew what was happening. But that wasn't his character today.
He swiped a few sandwiches off of the table, nibbling on them as he walked. Ohh these were good. But then again, he had never met a sandwich he didn't like. Well there wa that one time, but that was few and far between. He was proud of his son that had taken over one of his many food shops. Demi-gods had to eat sometimes. The portions were huge and they were geared more towards his own children and their tremendous appetites. But he wandered amongst the people, giving the little children pieces of candy with a wink as he sent them back to their parents. At least he wasn't giving the little kids red bull. Not that he was above giving his own small children red bull and then letting them loose back upon their parents. Oh yes he was evil like that.
The little legacy of Venus didn't believe she deserved the break that came with a Halloween party, but she had to any dressing up in costume was tempting. The hours she was allowed to help in the infirmary where drastically reduced anyway. Not to mention she was finally doing as her doctor recommended training wise, mostly not doing it. She had so much time she didn't know what to do. So she made a costume, made a Pascal for Charlie, and went to this party.
She stained her hair dark red, and put on make up to look like stitches for her Sally costume. She already had a good amount of cloth for the patched dress, and knew where to get more. The make up was a bit hard, being more movie magic than cosmetic. She'd never tried to make fake stitches before. It was fun, and the whole decision process was too. Wanting something Halloween but not really ugly or scary. She thought Sally had an elegance to her.
She saw a familiar face. He'd wandered into her infirmary with a different face before, but he had been around town a lot recently. "Mercury, I do believe they're supposed to say trick or treat before you give them candy." He was the only good she didn't use 'Lord' or 'Lady'for, even her own grandfather. Though when exactly she started calling him normally she wasn't sure. "The wobbly walk is a nice touch. I almost thought you were Johnny Depp." She gave him a bit of a smile, still not in as bright a mood as she was when she felt useful, but she was getting better.
Yes, sneaking sweets to children was one of his ever favorite past times. HE also had a love of causing trouble with their parents. Of course he had given one of his legacies a bag of chocolate covered espresso beans and sent him back to his parents with a "look what grampa gave me!" look of joy and pure and unadulterated terror that would be a five year old with chocolate covered coffee beans. He loved the familiarity of the demi-gods, loving all of them as if they were his own kids, he wanted to spoil every single one of them.
But he turned and smiled at Tessa. She was quite lovely in her Sally costume. "Well the trick is getting them back to their parents, lass, but the treat is seeing the looks on their parents face when they see what Grandpa Mercury has given them." He said, winking at her as he then gave a flamboyant bow. "But for now it's Captain Jack Sparrow." He said with a mischevious grin as he reached behind her ear. "ooh a peanut." Mercury said with a smile. "Might I offer you a refreshment of some sort, a beverage of your choice? Something to nibble upon? An undead monkey?" The last one not so much but as Jack Sparrow was quick to point out in his movies, he hated that damn monkey.
He paused for a moment. "or a dance would suffice." he said with a grin. Though he felt as if he at least owed it to both of her grandparents to at least dance with the lady while flirting with her. Not that he really had much intentions, she was happily attached after all.
She covered her ear with a blush, a bit of a reaction to him pulling something from behind her ear. Though she did recover and offer him a pleasant smile, and a brief shake of the head at first. Until he reached the part about the monkey. She simply had to stop and arch her brow at him a bit confused. A look over his costume again brought the idea back, and she smiled. Still playing the character, which was always a really fun part of dressing up. Perhaps she would have to sneak some food to Gunnar for once, in a basket after sneaking out of her cohort. It'd be an interesting reversal at least, he was always the one to bring her food. There was something inherently wrong with a female paying for dinner out, and she couldn't quite place her finger on why. Though cooking for him instead was absolutely perfect. She could pay for dinner, but it felt insulting. Strange.
With a bit of a laugh she held out her hand. “I suppose a dance would be fine, Captain Jack Sparrow.” She couldn't help the slight English accent that slipped out. A bit more Elisabeth Swan than Sally, but she got more caught up in Mercury's character than her own. “Though you might not be quite the right Jack.” She was thinking of Gunnar, of Sally and Jack. Even if he hadn't dressed up as the character from Nightmare Before Christmas, he was hers non the less. At least Gunnar wasn't the fool Jack was. Fools where fine, but intelligence and composure where wonderful and highly attractive in their own way. Then those slips in composure where what sent her heart racing. Knowing she was the only one to see them. Just thinking about it made her blush, her heart thump harder. She hoped she wouldn't care for him too much more, at this rate even when he did find another girl she might not be able to let him go.
Mercury flipped one of his braids as he turned to the table with the refreshments. He piled on a plate and procured a cup of something for her to drink. "For my dear Sally." He said with a wink, handing her the plate of food. "You should make sure to eat more." HE said with a grin as he patted a small child on the top of his head, picking up an apple and rolling it down one arm, across the shoulder and down the other arm, bumping it with his elbow for the kid to catch. There was another wink and he returned his attention to the pretty girl standing in front of him.
But Tessa agreed to dance with him. Though he wouldn't tell anyone, he was a fairly decent dancer. It came with being fairly quick and agile on his feet. Though many would think it to be silly. Mercury was willing to bet that at least Apollo was a good dancer since many people considered it an Art form. "I bet you're a lovely dancer." He said as he made his way to the dance floor, gently taking her hand in his. "This was the day you danced with Captain Jack Sparrow." HE grinned and made to twirl her around. He would do his best to dance with her, or at least give her a moment to remember. Not one of THOSE moments, but at least a good dance. He had faith that she was a good dancer.
She hadn't been expecting him to get her food and drink despite her original refusal for such things. Though she supposed she shouldn't have been surprised, hadn't she seen him feed Edmund? At least try to feed Edmund, considering how stubborn he was. "I eat fine Mer-, Jack. I promise. Gunnar gets me more food than I can eat." she shook her head a bit, but took the drink and the plate anyway. Nibbling a little on something small and finger shaped, a chicken wing. Clever use of the bone for certain. She watched the apple bob and drop to the child, she had seen that before though she was trying to place it exactly. Aladdin perhaps?
She put the plate down, eating a little bit here and there of what he had picked up for her. It seemed too rude to just pass it off, though she wasn't particularly hungry. "Oh...I'm okay, I think." She hadn't particularly danced before, but it shouldn't be much different from fighting. Matching your partners moves, and even fighting has an elegance all it's own. "I'm sure I'm not as light on my feet as you are though." She smiled and laughed as he twirled her around, that was fun. Dancing with Mercury, dressing up in costume. Perhaps later she could go bother Jason, Remus, Lilith, and of course Gunnar. Or if they were busy she would leave them alone. She hoped they weren't.
The Immortal was having a good time. Just hanging out, cutting loose, just relaxing. This was a wonderful time that Mercury loved the most. It was time to just cut loose. That's why Mercury loved holidays. Greek, American, Roman, holidays were a fun time. Except for the more somber ones. Mardi-gras? Yeah he was all over that like Mars on Venus. Festivals and holidays for food were always good too in his book. "So long as that Gunnar boy is treating you right. I'd hate to have to take out Mors's favorite grandkid because he was mistreating a lady." He said, winking to her. He knew those two were such a good pair. He shipped them hardcore.
"You'll make a good dancer if you just practice. Maybe I'll open a dance studio. I'm sure there are some little legacies and demi-gods that would love to learn ballet or something." He said smiling at her. "And if you ever decide to start up a tea shop, talk to me, I'll see what I can do about getting you a start up." Oh he had heard about her Teas from other people. There were plenty of people bragging about her teas and he had seen the calming effect they had on Jason and Remus. If anyone needed to be shot with a tranquilizer, it was those two. "Well at least you're a good dancer this far." There wasn't a step on the foot just yet. "Enjoying the festivities?" He wondered. "It's nice to see people relaxing and just acting like normal kids."
"Very well, I promise." she said making a little cross over her heart. Gunnar was the best thing to happen to her, and she loved him. She never knew someone could make her feel the way he made her feel. Important. Loved. No one had really done that before, but Gunnar was not of the ordinary. "And I wouldn't say he was a boy anymore, very manly." Okay, so that made her blush and she wished she had kept it to herself. Just ignored Mercury saying 'boy' about him. She knew he was just playing around, and she had tried to do the same. Perhaps it didn't suit her well.
A sweet laugh came as they danced. "Another? You've opened up quite a few stores and restaurants recently haven't you?" The next bit startled her a little, she hadn't exactly been expecting that. Mercury was fun, but caring too she supposed. She smiled and shook her head a little. "No thank you. I'd actually like to go out and learn. I've seen some of the advances they have outside Camp Jupiter and I'd like to bring them back." She really wanted New Rome to be the best there was, and if she could help the medical program in even the slightest way she would. She had years planned out, colleges she was looking at. Though her first stop would be the Academica here in New Rome. She also wanted to intern at the best Hospitals, she didn't like to use her powers on people too much, but she knew she'd at least be able to get into those places. Though she didn't know her parents had marked her as dead, that she would need a new identity to do any of what she wanted to do.
