Romans had always being strong people, some could even say they are even barbarians. But they were more than simple barbarians, they were strong people, brave ones, they were conquerors and never let others tell them what to do or when to lay low to save their own lives, they were always committed to fight. Fight for life, for land, for freedom, for love. Romans were very complex people. thorough 2000 years give or take years, They had been the influence to the world, the ancient and then the modern one too. Their laws, their language, their ideals. Rome was more alive than ever.

That was what Bellona thought of her beloved Romans. All of them were so strong that she felt proud of the people that her brother's children brought together, Remulus found Rome and from that moment till modern ages, Rome had been alive. Bellona had that in mind all the time she was abroad and the time it took to her to come back. She decided to go undercover for a while, she wanted to see how Romans behaved in their daily activities. Jupiter had allowed the gods to visit their offsprings, well She definetely wanted to be there and be part of their lives as them had been part of hers.

She walked to the fields of Mars, maybe because in the ancient times there was the place where her temple had been, the place where people went to pray to her, to make sacrifices in order to win wars. She walked into the Fields and looked at the place. It was smaller than the original, but still she could feel the energy of the legionaries from when they trained there. she noticed that there were some of them still training and she decided to observe for a moment before acting. Maybe practicing with them, checking if they were strong.

She had been in the wars with them, and knew they were, but she wanted to check if they hadn't lowered their defenses just because they were in time of peace. she walked to where one was training and looked at the legionary. "some couple training..." she wasn't really asking for permission but ordering it, but she wasn't using her powers for that, she just was't used to ask for permission.

Remus had started out his day with breakfast at his desk in the principia, making sure everything was up to date. With Jason still gone, he had double the work. Though really, he didn’t mind. It made him feel necessary, or rather, more so than usual. Which meant by the early afternoon, he was ready to get the heck out of that place. Felicity was in classes, so no possibility of taking her out to lunch or something, but he felt like moving anyway. So he dressed in something a little more battle-ready. That was to say, full Roman armor and pinned on his praetor cloak because he was feeling a little, well, he didn’t like to put a name on it, because that meant he had to face the fact that he had an ego the size of Antarctica even with the help his friends and family had been doing to knock it down to something manageable. Aurum and Argentum followed him as he made his way through the camp, their gleaming red eyes scanning everything and the sun glinting off their metallic bodies. Jason could call them if he needed them, of course, but so far neither of them had vanished to places unknown, so apparently he was doing alright. Besides, he was with his wife, a daughter of Neptune… on a boat on the ocean. Monsters would probably be pretty thick-headed to try anything. And Jason himself was a force to be reckoned with.

When he got to the Field of Mars, he took a few moments to watch those who were already running drills there. Apparently fifth was practicing here at the moment. When he noticed a couple of them helping a third to the sidelines for something that looked quite minor, he sighed and went over to help. It was a little funny, because the injured thirteen-year-old boy turned even paler than Nick the Lar when he saw that his accident had been noticed by Remus instead of just the already-humiliating case of Ronan and Josh. Remus didn’t take long there though, just to make sure that everything was alright more or less. Nothing seriously broken, nor even broken at all. A fracture, it would seem, or maybe as little as a twisted ankle. He dismissed the trio to get to the medics for a quick fix and went to explain things to Josh and Ronan before heading off to a corner of the field to practice on his own.

Ten minutes passed on his own before he wasn’t alone anymore, and he didn’t mean the two greyhounds. He noticed her coming before she spoke up. Big, powerful-looking legionnaire, but the odd thing was that she didn’t seem familiar. When she approached, he kept his eyes on her, only sparing a glance to get the greyhounds’ reaction. They seemed curious, but fine, so he left it be. Her words brought a smirk to his face. He looked her over. “You might want something to actually stop the blade first. Armor, not just uniform.”

Bellona looked at the son of Mars and smiled at his moves. He was strong as his father was and also got that amazing way to move around the field. the way he weild the sword and the flow that his movements described as he turned and spin, was something very nice to be seen. she was admiring that, not in the way the daughters of venus would do it. NO! Bellona wasn't that kind of woman, she wasn't so easily distracted by the movements of his body or the way his muscles contracted as he was preparing for the next thud hit or kick. she was admiring the perfect way his body had to move in the battle, she could know and anticipate the way his arm was going to go up and then fall fast against his enemy. that was art in her dictionary, the way his body was prepared for War. If Mars hadn't been her beloved brother, maybe she would have loved thatdemigod in many other ways.

Then when she asked/ordered him to spar with her, he looked at her and she smiled. He really had that same wary look that his father had! she smiled at him and then when he suggested her to go get suit for a battle, to wear an armor so his blade wouldn't hurt her. She looked down at her body. Yes, she was wearing only the camp's uniform, nothing too elaborated, nothing that could really help her if his blade got her. It wasn't as if he was going to kill her with his blade, but it would really sting. But what was a bit of pain in a good sparing match? nothing but the physical reminder that you need to train harder. "I'm fine thank you, but for your mental peace I shall wear a piece of an armor."

She looked around and as if they had always been there, she found some pieces of armor, they covered her chest and her arms, nothing else. then she looked at Remus again. "I've heard so much about you, Son of Mars. I'm really looking forward this sparing match. I've heard your skills and techniques are almost as your father's. Is that true?" She said as she walked back to where he was. She was wearing the pieces of armor, her gladius hanging from his hip. She was waiting for his response, a friendly chat before the match wouldn't be bad, right?

Remus was definitely of the opinion that this unfamiliar woman – for she did look at least as old as himself, so perhaps not a legionnaire anymore – was slightly of her rocker. Walking up to him like this and basically saying Hey, you’re going to fight me right now. She did know who he was, didn’t she? Praetor of the First Legion for the last, oh, going on four years now. Liked to think he still held the title of one of the more feared fighters (plus, who messes with someone who can call two very unpleasant to be on the teeth end of greyhounds with a simple whistle if he so desired? Not that he did usually). He was not someone with whom people just randomly decided they wanted to test their skills. Not unless they were crazy or felt like visiting the infirmary. Remus Dominus Stone was not something to be toyed with, and he did not believe in going easy on people for any reason… well, except that girl, Lyn, who’d gone and run off in an Immortal Girl Scouts club. That had stung him a bit, as he’d just started to think of her like a not-as-kill-switchy-as-Mattie little sister. It was refreshing to have a ‘sibling’ who was still too young to tease or challenge or harass about his love life. Seriously, it seemed like no one was on his side sometimes in that area, but-… never mind, enough of that. He had current things to face, like this open challenge that he would simply have to prove that she was making a really big mistake. Hopefully without drawing too much blood, but come what may.

He raised an eyebrow. “For my mental peace? Right.” He followed her gaze and couldn’t help but be totally confused by the sudden appearance of armor that he was almost positive had not been there two minutes ago. He wanted to question it out loud, but kept it in. He was a Roman soldier; he was aware of his surroundings, something Lupa always drilled really hard into the minds of those who came through the Wolf House, and something that was continued to be drilled in once they got to camp. So he had twelve years of practice at it, not including the training his mom started giving him when he was still in her care. So then… how had he not noticed the armor?

She pulled on the mystery armor like it was no big deal, then came back over and resumed the conversation, thankfully with a little less of the ‘I kill you now’. Actually, she managed to make a horrible mistake. That was, she stroked his already too large ego. He smiled, a little cocky. “Is that what they’re saying? Well, I never like to question the gods, especially my father, so I wouldn’t challenge his abilities. But I like to think I do him proud, yes. As for the definitive answer to your question, I suppose we’ll just have to find out then.”

Bellona had listened many things of the man she has in front of him. Yes! for the gods, he was only a boy, but among humans he was more than just a boy, he was a man, someone that had led his army against the enemy not once but twice already and had kept it together and strong. She had wanted to meet him for so long, since the very first war where he had fought. But her multiple activities had kept her away from camp. Even in War, she had to be outside camp and Rome, she had to lead the armies abroad.

Looking at him she could see so much from her brother in him. not the hair or facial features, but his energy was like Mars', also that aura of the leader was just like the one her brother had. She stood there and studied the Demigod closely, she studied him as only a god of war could do it. His stance, the way his muscles reacted to the weight of his sword, the way he moved his feet on the cupperish ground. There was very little that he had left undone in his trainings, very little... but enough to be able to injure him, wound him, or even kill him if he wasn't careful enough.

"I'm sure he must be proud of you, how not to be." she said and smiled at him still studying him. Her eyes were like the eyes of an animal who almost got its prey. And she grinned at him when he said those last words, she knew then that the agreement of a good spar time was on the table, and she wasn't going to let it waste at all! "ok... then you'll be all gentleman and let me attack first, right?" she said and winked at him as she always did, Greeks knew her as Enyo and they thought she was as crazy as Discordia, but as a Roman one, she wasn't, she only was... femenine in war.

She made her first move the moment she had said those words, she also was going to check his reflexes, the way his body acted the moment someone attacked him. And she wasn't going to be all sweetness with him, she wouldn't stop until the first blood was spilled, literally. He was son of Mars, he would survive it, if not he wouldn't be the Praetor of the Legion and wouldn't less the leader of Rome. She pulled out her sword and made a very common Roman move, she swung her gladius in a transversal way against him.

This certainly was curious. He knew his reputation usually preceded him, but this was a little much. She was a little over enthusiastic about challenging him, it seemed, yet there was also something different about her. Like the way she spoke and held herself. It seemed a little old fashioned really. Not that he was judging. Maybe her family was just the prim and proper type. Not her fault and didn’t make her better or worse. Though he felt a tad bit cautious too. He would have to act the gentleman or said reputation would be at stake. Not that he didn’t usually anyway. His mother would have his head if he did any differently. Though he’d been slacking recently for unknown reasons. He usually pinned it on stress. Oh well, he’d just have to make up for it right now. However, that in no way meant he was going to let her win. He did have a name to uphold. Mars was the patron of this camp, after all. He intended to do his father proud.

How not to be? Interesting question. And one that puffed him up decently well. “I do my best.” That was the safest answer. Keep from boasting too much. He was about to say yes, he was going to be a gentleman, when he found she was giving him no room to talk anyway. She came charging at him with her gladius and he drew his just in time to meet hers and keep it away from him by an inch. He grinned. “You may be a lady, but I will not go easy on you. But I’ll be gentleman enough to escort you to the infirmary.” He shoved against her gladius, trying to throw her off balance. Once he pushed her far enough away from himself, he pulled his gladius back and feigned for her arm before bringing it up again, kind of backwards, to try and butt the side of her head with the hilt of the gladius. If he could just knock her out quickly, so much the easier. But part of him wanted her to fight back better than that. Prove herself. Come to think of it, he didn’t know the first thing of who she was, did he? Well, it was no longer the time of niceties like introductions. He would just have to hope she was conscious when he took her to the infirmary so he could learn her name at least.

It had been a very long time since Bellona really got into a good training session with someone that wasn't her own kin. Valerie had been an amazing fighter, so honorable, so strong, her reflexes almost matched her mother's. Bellona had been so proud of her... then her daughter died and Bellona suffered so much that she had decided to stop hanging around demigods, she wasn't good dealing with her feelings. Then She saw how her brother made the effort to get in touch with his kin. But he had always been so brave, so extreme! But she was going to learn from him even when she would never accept it in front of Mars.

Then at that moment when she moved against Remus, her body remembered what it was to train with a mortal. He wasn't as fast as Mars, but he definetely was a warrior to respect and even learn from. She saw the fluid movements that his muscles made to miss the swing of her sword. He was a very well experimented warrior and it was visible in the way his muscles had developed a muscle memory and that memory worked perfectly the moment they needed to react. She saw the way he moved his arm just a half second later to swing a magnificent blow against her.

She moved just in time to miss it, it hadn't been a deathly one. first it was only a training session, and second he wouldn't kill a camper just like that. Still, she moved just in time to miss it. She didn't want to let her golden ikor flow so soon. Then she ducked and the hilt of his gladius just passed over her head. As she ducked, she also squatted and then throw a kick to his knees, maybe she could make him fall. It was a very basic movement, for sure he would notice it and do something to avoid it, or maybe not. "Don't worry cutie, I won't leave you on the red dirt either, when we finish here." She smirked as she moved.

Remus was one of the odd souls who enjoyed fighting. Probably from his dear father, yes, but still. He still liked to think he was better than everyone – something also probably from his father. One problem he had was that, while he respected female soldiers, he sure as heck didn’t want to admit defeat to one. Or anyone for that matter, but all the same. Anyway, this woman was no different than anyone else, except for the fact that she appeared a bit older and thus probably had more experience. Nothing he couldn’t handle, though. But back in the game.

She was good, he’d give her that. Already it was an interesting fight, and he was looking forward to progressing it. He aimed a strike at her head with the hilt of his sword and smirked as she evaded the hit, enjoying the thrill of the fight. It was like she was a long-lost sister or something, judging from her skill. But that couldn’t be. He knew his family. All of them, unless they were like… super old. She didn’t look super old. No, he would have known her. Maybe she was a relative of Mattie’s, descended from Bellona. That would make sense. He didn’t know so much about her kids, so he wouldn’t know this lady right off the bat, yet it would also explain why she was so good. She had a natural knack, that was easily seen.

Right, and there was that skill showing up again. She stepped back a couple times to try to avoid her kick. Thankfully, she missed him by all of about two inches, but it was enough. Then she just had to go and open her mouth. Cutie? Oh no, no one called him that. Well, Felicity might on the odd day, but not a total stranger. “Call me that one more time and I can’t promise the same for you.” He moved to catch her sword with his and shoved hard against it to try to throw her off balance. He would win this.

All of Remus moves, the way he was flowing with the energy of his sword, how it led him to move forward or backward, the strength she felt from him when he attacked. All of that gave her a special kind of excitement, it wasn't difficult to explain, but to understand at some levels. As the godess of War, the more he fought, the more she was vigorized. Maybe if Remus knew who she was, he would know that if he didn't fight she would easily lose the excitement for their fight and she would leave him alone, but he was fighting! He was fighting as the son of Mars that he was, which made her be more interested on their fight, more interested to see how far would he go to win that fight.

"Awww, don't be so edgy... cutie." She smirked when he shoved her back. That was the kind of fight she was looking for in a mortal! someone that could stand up and try to defeat her! Well the key word there was that one... to try because there was no way that he would win that fight. She hated to compare demigods with their parents, but Remus wasn't Mars. he was the closest one she had ever met, but he still was mortal. Mars and Bellona had had fights that lasted years! the shortest ones, the ones that were for fur and recreaction only, were thousand day battles! so she was sure that Remus wouldn't last that much, but he was fighting just as someone with her twin's blood would do!

"you never know who you could be fighting with..." She smirked and then planted her feet on the red ground and then smirked at him. she let him push a bit more, further till the momentthe edge of her sword cut the cloth covering her shoulder, but before it cut her flesh and would let Remus see her golden ikor, she pushed him just a moment and then just bent her knees and let his own strength pushed them to her back. Then she used her knee and foot to push him over her so he landed couple of feet away from her.

Remus was getting really annoyed, really fast. He had told her, warned her not to call him that. But off she went, purposefully antagonizing him. “The only edge you need to worry about is the one on my gladius.” Which, albeit, wasn’t very Roman. The traditional Roman style was to stab. It broke through armor better. But seeing as this was not a to the death battle, he did not plan on using that tactic. He didn’t want to kill her just for calling him cutie. Hurt her severely, sure, but kill? No, he wasn’t that cruel. Some might say he was, but he liked to believe it was merely, ah, taking after his dear old dad. Which, personally, he took as a compliment. Except the part where, come the day, he planned on being a better dad. Albeit anyone could be a better parent than a god, seeing as they basically had restraining orders from Jupiter. Well, until recently. But anyway, he got off topic.

Never knew who he could be fighting with? He couldn’t help but smirk. “An annoying brat? That’s usually the case. Someone who thinks it would be fun to prove themselves against the praetor. I’ll give you some credit though, your training shows. But you still can’t beat me.” He kept pushing against her blade, smirking as it cut into the fabric on her shoulder. So, so close. Then she basically went all ragdoll, which was a nice tactic… for a Graecus. She almost got him with it too, since she’d lulled him into boasting. But he was a war veteran, multiple times over, and the leader (okay, one of the leaders) of a prestigious Roman military camp. He refused to think he could be fooled so easily. So he hurried to get his weight off the blade in his hands and bend his own knees to counter her. However, all the same, her knee did catch him in the gut, which rather sucked, but he moved so that he could use it as a tipping point and roll off to the right. After his little tuck and roll practice, he was propped up on one knee, still holding his gladius because a Roman did not let go his weapon under any circumstance. He smirked and pushed himself back up to standing. “Interesting. You do have some fight in you. I like that. Let’s see how far it gets you, shall we?” He ran for her, aiming a swift jab to her side where he could do some damage without hitting any vitals.

Bellona didn't know if she should feel fear or not from his tone and attittude, for sure she had just made her nephew pset, and well, she knew how Mars' blood worked in Mortals, so maybe she should tell this kid who she really was and then talk, after all she always wanted a good talk and peace treatment that came before a war, she had always wanted that, but with a boy from Mars, that was quite impossible, they had lava in their veins or maybe only gas and with a little match they simply bursted out in flames and destroyed everything in their paths.

She sighed as Remus described who he thought she was and then she shook her head, she really was kind of... dissappointed, not on his fighting style, or his pride or none of it, maybe only that he hadn't recognized her! "okay, maybe I've been away from home for too long..." She said and simply moved with the flow of the battle, she saw Remus' move but with just a milisecond to react and as she was fighting with human speed, she got the hit on her side, if she had been human her ribs would had been demolished, but his hit only would let a nasty bruise for a couple of hours.

she frowned and then used her elbow to connect it to his nose, if that was possible. When she got up and gave a couple of steps to a side, she got a drop of golden ikor rolling down her cheek. she didn't know in which moment he had cut her cheek, or was it the moment she moved and she did it? NO!... it had been Remus! he was good... very good and that was why he was a Praetor. "First drop of blood... " She smiled widely at him, as the golder drop of ikor rolled down her cheek.

A sigh? A silly little sigh? Was that all the response he was going to get out of her? Oh wait, thankfully she said more before he could step in with a few choice words. “Hey, I’ll give you some credit, I’m guessing your away from Camp time was in a U.S. Marines boot camp.” There, he paid her a compliment. And she damn well better take it. He didn’t pay strangers compliments a whole lot. Or, like, ever.

And the fight was back on. The funny thing about fighting was that it was a lot like a dance, when dealing with two seasoned veterans. Newbies, it was more like a flailing. But this, this was art. Only… something was wrong. He hit her pretty good on the side, as he’d done to others plenty of times in training. Excellent way of teaching a rookie to protect their core, because it dealt a painful lesson in a fast way with a slow recovery time to think about it in the infirmary. Basically, he expected her to react. If not violently, then at least drop her weapon to attend to the immediate need. Her training must be really good then. She held her ground. Which actually caught him a little by surprise. At least she should take a step back to regain better ground after that!

Then a flash and the taste of blood. She’d done a number on his nose! But… how? Now it was his turn to step back to regain his ground and wipe the blood from his face. She said something about the first drop of blood, and he assumed she meant his nose issue, but then something gleamed in the sunlight. Something gold. On her face. He lowered his weapon in pause until it fully struck him. That was ichor. This woman was not a demigod or legacy. She was a goddess. He immediately resheathed his gladius and bowed. “My Lady. My apologies for my rude behavior.”

Bellona smirked when Remus commented about her being in the mortal army. She smirked because in a way he was right. She had been in the army, marines, airforce, special units... She had always spent her time among those good soldiers that risked and sacrificed their lives to protect the civilians. She had a deep sense of respect for those men and women and it was her most holly honor to fight by their side in the different wars where she had been involved. "you are right, proudly I accept that I have been in the Army at some points in my life" she said with a proud smirk.

Then she noticed how Remus looked at her and the ikor rolling down her face. He chamged his attitude at her and all she did was to sigh deeply and puther sword away. She groaned and stretched out. "and that is the reason I never tell who I am when I visit legionaries." she said and then she winked at Remus. She wipped the ikor with the back of her hand and another drop of ikor rolled down her cheek once more. "don't worry nephew, this will heal in a moment, how are those ribs? And the face?"

She smiled at him and then sighed and shook her head, that was exactly why she never said her real name at first when she wanted to meet one of the romans. "Oh come on nephew! that attitude is exactly why I didn't tell you who I really was! I was the one who challenged you, I knew the risks so, please stop with that and just act normally, ok?" She said and then cracked her arm and her neck. "I just wanted a good fight." She said facing him once more. A good fight was so difficult to find outside Olympus.

Been in the army at some points in her life? Okay, way to word it weird, he thought. Well, good for her. “Army, my bad. I hear you get in deep trouble if you mistake the branches.” After all, he had said Marines. Whoops. Oh well, judging from her smirk, she didn’t mind. Unless she was one of those people who used ‘army’ to cover all the branches. No clue.

Then everything went crazy. The ichor, he saw, which make him pause. Then she got all upset. What did he do? He just wanted to honor the gods. He didn’t mean to insult her. “I’m… sorry?” Her wink confused him a little. She certainly was an unusual one. He wasn’t the best at reading emotions, no, but he had not even the foggiest idea what she was thinking right now, and considering who she was, that was a little unnerving. “I, ah, okay, good. I’m… fine. Had worse. No worries.”

Then she got all upset again and threw Remus for a loop. “You… prefer me being a jerk?” He was totally lost right now. He wanted to honor her, seeing as she was such an important goddess and all. But she was making it hard and confusing. “Okay, I will try to act normally. I’m sorry for interrupting the fight. We can… continue if you like?” It felt funny, now that he knew who he was fighting, but he also felt honored himself that she had chosen to fight him and not, say, Charlie or (gods forbid) someone not related to her at all. He wanted that honor. So he raised his gladius to the defense in case she wanted to continue. He would give her the option. “And I promise you I will not treat you any different in a fight just because of who you are. I’ll just, you know, try not to throw insults at you as well.” He smiled sheepishly.

Bellona looked at her nephew and for a second she remembered that he wasn't her brother, of course good Romans were taught to honor the gods and be super respectful with them and at them. So, how could she blame him for being so formal at her? Besides, how many times had she visited him before? NONE! so, she couldn't blame the poor Praetor for being so formal! She sighed and then looked at him again, he was right also on other thing... She didn't want him to be a jerk at her, right? so he had behaved in the correct form.

"No,... you behaved in the correct form, Nephew." she said and walked around moving her arms and cracking her joints. "and in a way it was my fault that you didn't react the way I wanted you or expected you to react." that was the closest thing that Remus would get from her as an apology. "Lets do this... I am your aunt, you are my nephew. So I would like us to act like that... we're family after all. "she smiled at him. Her smile still showed the strength of the warrior, she was gentle, but never weak.

she looked at him and his gladius. She would love it, but she didn't want to injure him even more, maybe on other time, when he was rested and healed. "Nephew, I would rather talk to you. this cut will heal soon, but I don't want a new cut so soon." she smiled and winked. She would never tell him that she feared hurting him! that would be an insult to his Mars' blood! she rather get the blame of it. "we can continue the fight only if you don't want to talk."
