Neptune did not like this situation at all. The small toddler had wrapped herself around his leg and had refused to let go. Though if he were to be honest, she had just been through a rather rough situation and Neptune had simply been at the right place at the right time. The small child sniffled in his arms, her head buried into his neck. Her eyes were red from crying and she had a large goose egg on her head with a bunch of bruises on her face. The mother had been so distraught, traumatized by something, it drove her to try to end the life of her and her child by driving off the end of a pier in Los Angeles. While he could not save the mother, he was able to save the child. The child was scared and understandably so. He had taken to attempting to console her for the next fourty minutes while they sat on the beach. So what if he lied to mortal authorities, the child was a demi-god. Of whose he did not know. But she ended up in danger and in his own domain so he felt the need to step in and do something.
Sure he could have just poofed into New Rome, but there were other things he needed to do first. Things that he needed to make sure happened. She tightly hugged his neck, the stuffed Nemo fish under one of her arms while she had a little Mermaid backpack of things she owned. There were people here in new rome that could take care of her, as much as he wished for the small child to be under his own protection, he couldn't do that. She had to grow up as much as she could around those that were like her. But in case she ever needed him, he left her with a special coral necklace to remind her that he would always watch over her. But he walked through New Rome, picking up a few things that she could call her own, and then turned to the orphanage. The woman who greeted him, a matronly woman who was a daughter of Apollo, took the child and the massive amount of bags of clothes and toys that he had purchased for her. When the woman thanked him, calling him Lord Neptune, the small child scrunched her nose up at him. "I thought your name was Steve Rogers?" She asked him in an accusingly cute voice. "That's my name when I'm not being the king of the seas." He said winking at her. The toddler whined a little as he dropped her off, but when he was done he made it clear he would be checking up on her every so often. Just to make sure.
It was times like these that Neptune really missed his own children and legacies. Clare, Mikayla, Ronan, Julia, all of them he missed like crazy. So as he wandered the streets of New Rome, he watched the other families that had been there. He wasn't quite sure what to do about Ronan. He made his way through camp, thinking about it as he then came through the tunnel. There must have been a change in the guard as he only spotted one camper. Or the other one was late or didn't bother to show up. So Neptune leaned against the wall, watching traffic go by with the silent legionair that hadn't even seemed to acknowledge his presence.
