Date Night! {Kaya}

No class, no need to study right now, right now was one of those relaxing days and he knew exactly what to do with this free time! He had gone on a few dates with Kaya and well now things seemed to be moving in a good direction, this could mean that they might actually have to define their relationship soon. Did she want to be his girlfriend? Did she want a boyfriend while she was in school studying to become a doctor? Well being a doctor and healer was in her blood after all; look at who her father is after all. Maybe she didn’t need to study for any of the tests because she somehow knew all the material? Who knew? But right now all he knew was that he wanted to go and spend some time with her.

Today would be a great opportunity to just relax and have fun together. After their first date he had to think of something that could top glow in the dark mini golf while their clothes were covered in glow in the dark paint. Actually no, he might have had an idea. There were times girls did just like a nice relaxing date at home and inside watching a movie. That was it! He would cook some dinner for them and then they could watch a movie or two!

Stopping by the store on the way he picked up a couple things he would need to make some lasagna for dinner tonight. While he was at it he stopped by and picked her up some flowers too. What? You were never supposed to go and pick up your date without flowers, right? Well whatever he was still getting them anyways! Once all his purchases were done he made his way to her place. Now they would actually have some time together. Well he would also have to start cooking but he could multitask in this mission.

Reaching her place he looked up at it and took a deep breath. Hopefully she wouldn’t have someone else over right now. What? There was always that nagging feeling in the back of his head that someone else would come and try to court her at the same time. If they wanted to do that though then he would fight them for the right to be hers. What??? This was about honor and where was all of this coming from? Maybe he was just thinking too much into this. Before he could keep driving himself crazy he lifted his hand up and knocked on her door. “Kaya?

Today was a study day in the apartment of Kaya Deneen Hale. Boring, yes, but also a tad bit interesting. This was high level medical stuff she hadn’t learned before, yet it kind of felt like second nature. She had no idea how her frie- acquaintance, Randy, was doing with her studies for this same class, considering she was a child of Vulcan and gods only knew what drew her to medicine. Then again, one couldn’t be prejudiced about that. If I daughter of Vulcan wanted to be a doctor too, power to her. That was beside the point. Back to the point. She was reclined on her couch in her favorite red pajama pants and matching Mickey Mouse tank top, reading through her notes with her secret little buddy, a little stuffed tiger she named Merlin that she got on super clearance the day after Valentine’s Day a few years ago. Apparently the little cuddly thing had been left over from Saturnalia even, so it came up to a grand sixty-seven cents. How could she pass that up? He was just so cute, so he was her guilty pleasure. Obviously, she kept him out of sight for fear of ruining her tomboy reputation. Her other guilty pleasure associated with that holiday was stocking up on the hearts full of chocolates the day they went on clearance. What could she say? It was chocolate. Lots of chocolate that you could buy for like three denarii tops. Good stuff.

She pulled her fleecy blanket up to her chin again and flipped to the next page in her notebook. Then came a knock at the door followed by a familiar voice. Her eyes grew wide and she hurriedly tossed off the blanket and set her notes on the coffee table and Merlin on the couch and hurried to the door. If it were anyone else, she probably would have told them she was busy, but not him. Not Zane. She was actually pretty excited about seeing him again. So much so that she rather forgot she was not dressed for company. She opened the door with a big smile. “Hey Zane.” Then it struck her a moment too late and her face went bright red. “Oh, um, sorry. Come on in and I’ll get changed. Sorry!” She gave him one last smile, then rushed to her bedroom and started sifting through her clothing. Jeans, check. T-shirt, check. Light jacket, check. Socks, check. Her tennis shoes were out by the couch where she’d last taken them off. She changed into street clothes and for a change of pace, went into the bathroom to make sure she looked okay. She didn’t have a lot to improve how she looked. No makeup, decorative hair pins, anything. So she just brushed her hair and went back out into the main room. “This is a pleasant surprise. Though sorry about the… you know, not being fit to be seen really.” Now that she wasn’t slightly freaking out about not wearing real clothes, she took the time to notice him more. Not that she hadn’t immediately, but just hadn’t had the chance to say anything. “You brought flowers?” she asked with a smile and the hint of a blush. This was all so foreign to her, but… maybe not in a bad way. “You have me curious too; what’s in the bag?” Knowing him, how little she did know of him though, it really could be anything at all.

Hopefully today was going to go as well as the last few dates had gone. Those were some amazing dates and now here he was planning another one for this amazing daughter of Apollo! Ever since their meeting things had been well worth it actually. They were getting to know one another better and grow closer. Not to mention it actually helped to have someone to talk to about the war and everything. Sure he could go out and find Amelia and talk to her but he doubted with her condition right now she’d want to talk about something so gruesome. Wait! Crap! He made a mental note to pick something up for her baby too, she was going to be having one soon.

Now back to where he was and what was all going on in his mind. He was standing at Kaya’s door and waiting for the very beautiful blonde woman inside to come and open up the door for him. He couldn’t wait to see her again. There was something about looking into those beautiful grey eyes of hers that could turn his bad days into amazing ones. Maybe it was a side effect from the Apollo medical healing stuff? Maybe they were able to make anything better including bad days?

When the door opened and he spotted her a smile played on his lips seeing her attire. Oh this was a new one for him. Usually they had to have a sleep over for him to see her pajamas. Not like they had a sleep over or anything before. Hearing her he grinned. “You do know you don’t have to change. Being in your PJ’s doesn’t bother me at all.” He smiled in return as she dashed off to change and he took up residence on her couch. His eyes landing on the little stuffed tiger. Gently he picked it up and looked it over. Well this was fascinating! She wasn’t the tomboy she appeared to be. Grinning he sat the tiger on the seat next to him. “I know buddy, she looked pretty the way she was, no need for her to have gone and changed on us.” He laughs as he has a fun conversation with the stuffed toy until she comes back. “No need to be sorry about it Kaya, my friend here and I didn’t mind seeing you dressed like that.” Yes, he motioned to her stuffed tiger that was sitting next to him.

Seeing her blush at the flowers made the whole thing worth it. “Of course I brought you flowers. A beautiful girl such as yourself should always get flowers. Well at least get them from me.” He gives her a wink and then looks to the shopping bags. Now she was curious? Standing up he gently takes her hands and moves closer to her. “All I can say is what’s in those bags is a surprise. Well, one that you will smell because it’s what I’m making us for dinner.” Yes, he was going to make them dinner!

Kaya was quite pleased with the sudden visit. Sure, studying was important and all, but really she’d been doing that for – what time was it? – about three hours. High time for a break at the least. Possibly just called it a day on that. And, well, now that Zane was here, definitely looking good. Speaking of looking good, the sight that greeted her when she opened the door was definitely to be counted as looking good. She never used to pay attention to guys and their appearances. Well, considering they never much paid attention to her either, it sort of worked out. Didn’t help that she’d never dressed like a girl much. Keeping armor on all waking hours wasn’t against her old dress code. Nor were guy shirts and ragged jeans and muddy tennis shoes. Her hair had almost always been pulled into a ponytail to the point where by the time she retired from the legion, she had such horrible split end trouble that she had to vow off pulling it back unless an emergency. It took her a while to care about it, but after what happened with Captain Loserface, she’d made some effort to stop looking like a guy with long hair and curves. She’d come a long way, though looking at the other young women in her class, she was still the oddball. Probably the only female in all of New Rome that did not own a dress or shirt, and probably hadn’t worn one since she started dressing herself. Hmm, maybe she should go shopping now that she was with Zane. She did want to impress him. Was he into that? How could she subtly find out though? Well, judging from the reaction she’d gotten from him seeing her in a tank top at the mini golf date… hmm.

Speaking of which… he’d said something to her as she rushed off, and unfortunately, it did not set into her brain until after she was in her room. She quite literally facepalmed, but it was too late. Right? Ugh, this all was so confusing. Really, if she thought about it, Zane was her first real – hold on… wait, was he her boyfriend though? UGH! She honestly had no idea how any of this was supposed to work. She was tempted to inquire as to that as soon as she got back out there, but she did remember overhearing – okay, eavesdropping on, but if they talked quieter, maybe that wouldn’t happen – a couple girls in her class gossiping before the lecture started. The one girl was talking about how her boyfriend had proposed – which at the time had made Kaya want to vomit, as she then had no faith in men, but Zane had changed that – and the girl went on and on about how she’d been waiting for him to ask for at least two months, but something about it not being proper for her to take the lead. Well, back when she’d first heard that, she’d not paid much attention really. Now she took note. So it was the guy’s position then, to sort of lead the way? It might be a little getting used to, but she thought she’d give it a try. Hopefully she didn’t botch it up right away. Then again, Zane wasn’t like most guys. After all, he asked her out during his check-up. Oy, this was all so confusing. Best to just roll with the punches, or whatever the romantic relationship equivalent of that saying was.

She got dressed and returned to find him looking at… Merlin. She paled. “Oh my gods… I’m sorry, I-… it’s a long story…” she sighed, just trying to get herself out of an awkward situation and failing miserably. Kaya decided changing subject was best. And just happened that he provided a good topic just by looking at him. A topic known as: he had brought her flowers. Well, that fixed the paleness with a decent blush. “You seriously are the nicest guy on this planet, you know that? Oh… hmm, awkward moment… I actually don’t own a vase… but hey, tall glass would work, right? Sure, why not? I’ll get a vase later.” Why was she saying all this out loud? What was wrong with her? Then he went and took her hands, so gently, and moved closer and it became really hard to focus at all on the old vase problem, or her running mouth. Her eyes grew wide at his words, though. “You’re kidding! Oh my gods, you really are the best guy ever. You’re going to let me help, though, right?”

Holy gods this was amazing! He had never really truly felt like this about any other girl before. Sure there were the other girls he dated but there was something different about Kaya, it’s like she was that light in the darkness that had been cast over him. What? Sure his father was Sors, god of luck and all but his grandmother was an underworld goddess. So in a way he still felt trapped in that darkness. Now everything was going to be better, he had Kaya in his life. Some would ask why he was better with her in his life? Well for starters she was the daughter of Apollo, the sun god. Now why was that important? Well because when you have that darkness it’s good to have a flicker of light inside of you and being the daughter of the sun god that kind of went a long way. Sure this was all mushy of him to think about but he had turned into a better person being around and with her.

As he sat on her couch his mind raced with all of the thoughts about their relationship so far. Things were going great between them. He still remembered that night at the glow in the dark golf course. That was actually one of the best dates he’d taken anyone on in a very long time. Though now, now he was going to have to top that and prove he could do amazing things. Actually no, he already had proven it in a way. The second date was by far as amazing as the first, pizza and a movie spending the night in. It had been a way for both of them to relax and just spend time together. But now they were at a critical point, they were going to have to decide what this was, were they going to let it move forward? He had heard rumor a long time ago that she wasn’t one for the dating scene.

Looking over to the stuffed tiger he smiled. “What do you think bud, think she will want to let this relationship continue to blossom?” Yes, again he was talking to a stuffed animal. It had to be better than talking to a ghost at least.

Seeing her as she came back he smiled up to her. “Oh it’s nothing to worry about Kaya, he’s pretty awesome.” Not to mention a very good source of inspiration. It was that kind of moment when you randomly throw out ideas at someone and bounce them back and you come up with the best one. Shaking his head he looks to the flowers. “I don’t know, I bet you there are guys out there nicer than I am.” Hearing her conversation about the vase to herself he couldn’t help but smile. “I can pick you up a vase tomorrow if you want.” What? Yes, he had brought flowers but no vase he was an idiot.

Taking her hand in his he brings it to his lips and places a kiss to it. “Well, I really wanted it to be a surprise but if you really want to help.” Squeezing her hand gently he leads her into the kitchen and pulls all the supplies to make lasagna out. “Hopefully this turns out alright, I do know how to follow directions but the most I’ve ever really made was some alfredo and that’s pretty hard to mess up.” Oh yes, she was going to be the first to try his amazing cooking. Yes, it was amazing because he had no idea how good or bad it was going to be. “I’d like to apologize ahead of time just in case it’s so bad we need to just order a pizza.”

This was the best surprise… well, since he surprised her with the itinerary for their first date. Or their second date. All in all, this dating – or whatever it was really called – Zane was probably the best thing ever. Actually, scratch the probably; it was the best thing ever. Even better than the occasional truffle. He was like a whole bag of truffles and a month off homework. Except… probably better. She never had thought she’d not be alone. Even if it was kind of her fault anyway. She pushed people away; even her own family. She was going to change that though… eventually. She’d missed her own brother’s wedding because of a class, for heaven’s sake. She hoped he didn’t hate her, since they only really had talked while working together in the infirmary and that hardly counted.

She focused on getting dressed quickly and then hurried out to join him, smiling all the while. Embarrassing moment: he’d found Merlin. Her awkwardness kind of melted away when he smiled and dubbed Merlin ‘pretty awesome’. So she wasn’t a dork then. Oh, thank the gods. Then when she switched the topic to the flowers and how awesome he was... well, his words kind of worried her. She came over and took his hand. “Call me crazy, but to me, you’re the best of the best. If they’re a guy better than you out there, he’s probably just in a fairy tale. I’d much rather hang with the real deal. I mean that. I don’t care if there’s a soul nicer than you, because he can go shove it for all I care.” She smiled encouragingly, trying to show that it was him she liked, not some maybe guy.

Okay, embarrassing thing number two, or probably more like number three hundred: talking to herself. “I can do it. It’s okay. Or we can pick one out together, that might be fun. I don’t even know what to look for really.” Oh my gods, he kissed the back of her hand like this perfect gentleman kind of guy. “Okay, I take back what I said: there really is no guy nicer than you, at all ever.” She followed him into the kitchen. “I think it would be fun, both of us cooking together. What do you think?” She examined the ingredients he was pulling out and noticed at least that it was likely some form of Italian. The type of noodle things he got out helped her guess too. Kaya’s stomach growled in anticipation, seeing as the animal crackers she’d been snacking on were kind of wearing off. Oops. “Sounds like it’s going to be an adventure then. Should be fun.” She looked to him as he apologized in advance and laughed. “Apology accepted, but really, if anyone messes this up, it’s probably going to be me.” Kaya was kind of the stereotypical collegiate. Ramen was her usual meal. Especially when she lived alone all this time and had no real reason to cook anything fancy. “So where’d you get the idea to pop over and do all this?” She went to the cabinet and pulled out a tall Coca-Cola glass and filled it mostly with water before putting the flowers in there and setting it in the window cove over the sink. “Oh, that looks lovely.” She smiled at him. “Thank you.”

Wait, what? Did she just confess it was him she liked? A small smile formed on his lips as he tried to keep from blushing. She really was the best. “Just like there’s no girl out there as cool and amazing as you are?” Yes, he did like her back too; this meant they were actually going to fully have to talk about where they were in their relationship. Hopefully if all went well it would mean something pretty amazing was about to happen. Standing up he walked over to her and took her hands gently in his. “You know, I think it’s time we had the talk.” The talk, the one that would define what they were now. “I know I never officially asked and I think now is the time to ask.” The pause, yes, nerves were kind of taking over. “Would you be my girlfriend?” There, he asked. If she rejected him now maybe they would be able to go back to being friends and ignore he asked.

It was amazing though how she did talk to herself, it was pretty cute to be honest. “I would like to pick it out together, if you don’t mine that is.” It could be a really fun trip and it could turn into a date if they decided to go out to eat and then do something after that. Looking up at her after he placed the kiss to her hand he smiled. “There’s no other woman like you at all.” She was perfect, really perfect. “Cooking together, sure it will be really fun! This way if all goes wrong you can tickle me.” Yes, he was going to leave himself open to be tickled by her.

Once they were in the kitchen getting everything ready he smirked. “It will be an adventure, though I’m telling you it’ll probably be me that messes something up.” He wasn’t the best cook but he knew how to read the directions. Taking the pan he placed the meat in it and seasoned then turned on the stove. Once it was cooking he turned around and looked at her. “Well I was out and decided it would be a nice surprise to pop over and make the most beautiful woman in New Rome and Camp Jupiter some dinner.” Hopefully she didn’t mind the intrusion at all. “I really hope you don’t mind it.” On the plus side she was getting some free food out of it.

He watched as she put the flowers in the glass and grinned. “That looks like the best vase for them. I approve of it.” Yes, he was teasing but a laugh came with it. Honestly he couldn’t think of a better place to put them for now. Making his way to her he slipped his arms around her middle and kissed her cheek. “That they are but you’re more lovely than any flower.” He nods his head and smiles. “You’re welcome, though I do hope you like flowers.” He planned on getting them a lot for her.

She’d be lying if she said she didn’t blush. It was weird really. Before meeting him, she couldn’t remember ever having blushed really. Not in a good way, at least. Maybe an angry way, but that wasn’t the same. Not at all. She leaned in and kissed his cheek. “You really are one of a kind. I really like that about you. Don’t ever change, okay?” She took a long moment to simply watch him with a smile. Gods, he was handsome and kind and caring and just the whole nine yards. She was about to look away so she didn’t seem like she was staring, but he got up and walked over to her, which grabbed her attention. Only to be trumped when he took her hands and spoke words that made her both excited and nervous. “The talk…?” Considering the way he had teased her when they first met, she had a really bad feeling of where this was going. Thus she didn’t even realize she was holding her breath until he continued and she let it out. Relieved though she was, she was still on edge. This was about the biggest step she’d ever taken, like ever. For a moment, she was struck dumb. Until he came out and asked the question point blank. She laughed, not out of anything bad, but out of just being happy, and hugged him tightly. “Yes!” She pulled away and tucked her hair behind her ears. “I mean… yeah, I’d really like that.” Really like that, ha, what an understatement. They hadn’t known each other that long really, but she really felt close to him. He was different than any guy she’d known, yet felt familiar in all the best ways. Well, familiar to a fairy tale or something. Or hey, that Disney movie, Tangled, with Flynn Rider. Yep, that was him alright. Started out a little unusual, but turned out to be fantastic.

She embarrassed the heck out of herself by the whole thinking out loud thing, but at least he seemed to take it alright. “Then together it is. Nope, don’t mind at all.” Then he went on and, well, her comparison of him to a fairy tale prince only heightened as he kissed her hand. She’d never seen a guy do that before in real life, much less to her. “Thank you. I suppose it’s fitting that we, ah, date each other then… if we’re both so unusual. We make quite the pair.” Boy, did it feel weird to talk about dating him, but it was real now. Tickle him? She had to laugh. “You’re ticklish? Oh, you just handed me some serious ammo, mister!” She grinned.

They got into the kitchen and she started getting pots out and other needed things. “Uh huh, sure, I bet I could burn water. Like the Cuyahoga River in my kitchen or something.” She laughed slightly at her own stupid joke as she got water ready to boil. Then he went and made her blush again. “If you don’t stop that, my face will be permanently red!” she teased. Kaya moved over so she could nudge him. “Of course I don’t mind. You just made my day to be honest.”

Oh, and speaking of water, now that that was ready, she went back to getting the flowers a drink. She smiled at his at his words. “I think so too. Thanks.” Then he just had to come over and wrap his arms around her like that and make her feel even more flustered, a feeling she was actually learning to like. “What did I tell you about making me permanently red?” She turned in his arms so she could kiss him briefly on the lips and smile. “I do like them. Thank you.”

As she leaned in and kissed his cheek he couldn’t help but smile, she thought he was one of a kind? Well that was a good thing. His eyes looked to hers and he grinned. “A one of a kind guy for a one of a kind girl.” They were both different and special, that is what they were. Nothing was ever going to change the fact that so far they both fit well together. When he took her hands in hers he couldn’t help but notice every little thing, it’s like his senses had been amplified by one hundred. He could feel not only the warmth coming from her but every single bump from her fingerprints. It was amazing, no it wasn’t amazing, she was amazing. “Yes, the talk.” The one that was going to change things for both of them from this moment on. After he asked her he could feel his heart start racing in his chest. He wasn’t reading into things, right? She did want to be his girlfriend? The way they had been acting around one another it’s what it seemed like.

When she finally gave her answer he smiled and pulled her in closer to him. “You have no idea how worried I was that you were going to say no.” He laughed a little at his own stupidness at being worried, she was perfect and they worked well together. You could see it after their first date how well they went together. Now everything was set in motion, this was the path they were supposed to be on, or so he hoped. Nothing would change this now, well except her father of course.

“It will be fun to go out and look for the perfect vase for them, we can even get some lunch and a movie after that.” It was turning out to sound like they were about to make a date of going to get a flower vase. Well there are worse things that could be considered a date. Yes, we all know what they were too. A smirk played on his lips as he nodded in agreement. “But you know sometimes it’s the unusual ones that actually make the best couples.” That could be taken for a fact, not sure if it was true but it really did seem like that.

Giving her a look of feigned horror he broke out into laughing. “Yeah, I’m actually really ticklish so if you ever want to win anything with me all you have to do is tickle me.” Any arguments or things like that she now had a weapon to use against him.

Once they started cooking he couldn’t believe it. “Nope, there’s no way that you’re that bad at cooking! I’m sure you can cook just fine.” Sure he wasn’t a master chef but who was? Oh right, those guys on Iron Chef were. “I do think you would be really cute if you were permanently stuck blushing. She was actually cute period. Gently he nudged her back and smiled. “Well I hope to make your days more often darling.” That was a fact!

As he started getting everything else ready he made sure to keep an eye on her, she was just so awesome. “We could just leave them in there.” That would be pretty funny to see them in there. When she turned red again he grinned in triumph. “Well I did tell you that you were really cute when you blushed.” See! All he had to do was ask people and they would tell her how cute she was. Leaning in he kissed her back just as quickly. “You’re welcome, Kaya.” She would need a vase with how often he was going to bring her flowers.

She laughed. “Me, one of a kind? You’re one to talk!” She smirked and -… stopped short as he took her hands and mentioned having ‘the talk’. Her mind kind of went into frozen mode. This… could be trouble. She kept her eyes on his as she waited for him to elaborate. Then when he clarified, she let out a long breath and laughed, then hugged him tight and said how she would love to be his girlfriend. When he spoke again, she smiled. “Like I could say no. That’s like asking me if I want a million denarii, but better. Yes, you’re much better than a million denarii. Couldn’t say no.” This was all so wonderful. He was so wonderful! And he was her boyfriend! Oh, she wanted to just kiss him! And she thought about doing just that, too. But back on track. The flowers. The vase. All that. “Sounds like a grand adventure. Just let me know when you’re free and we’ll try to set up a day of it. Except I’m really torn between like getting a fancy looking glass vase or a ceramic one you and I can paint or something! Corny, I know, but you have to admit that would be fun.”

She had to agree with him on that one, as she got things ready to cook. “Oh, certainly, the unusual ones are always the best. No good ever comes from staying with normal people, after all.” Oh man, he was ticklish. She grinned at him and came over to poke his side teasingly, testing it out. “Well, for the record, I find the fact that you’re ticklish to be extremely sexy.” She winked. “But anyway, food.” She set to work on cooking, with his help.

She laughed at his confidence in her. “You should have seen when my mom was teaching me hor to make mac and cheese when I was six. We had to throw away the pot it went so horribly!” It was true. While her mother went to the bathroom, she decided she would be a big helper and show her mom how great she was, and she cranked the heat on the burner to make it cook faster, thinking this would be great. Her mother didn’t know and she let it sit for just long enough for it to burn to the pot before she discovered the problem. Kaya had been shooed from the kitchen as her mother tried to salvage the poor pot. No such luck. She laughed and shot a joking glare at him when he suggested she really should be stuck blushing and that it would be cute. “Shush, you!” She couldn’t help but laugh though. And smiled and leaned over to kiss his cheek. “You don’t have to do that. I’ll have your little messengers to brighten my day when you’re busy.” She nodded to the flowers.

She shook her head and laughed. “You’re going to make me put cover-up makeup out of business because I’m trying to make my cheeks stop looking so pink all the time!” She was teasing of course. And there was that kiss again. She leaned in and kissed him back. “I vote we finish cooking and then snuggle up together on the couch under the blanket with Merlin and eat together like that. What do you say?” She smiled as she watched him, and for the first time in… ever, did these words come to mind where they actually felt true and real: I love you. Her eyes said it, but she knew it had to be too early in the relationship for her to actually say it. Would he be waiting for her to say it, or the other way around? This was all so confusing! And yes, in all the confusingness, it was fun too.

He laughed and shook his head. “No way, you’re one of a kind. Out of all the girls in New Rome and the legion you’re perfect. There’s no one out there like you and I like it that way.” Yes, he felt really lucky that he was the one who was getting to be with her. Well they weren’t together yet but it was coming, hopefully. The asking her to be his girlfriend was the scariest thing he had ever done. Yes, fight in a war, face giants, face death it was all a walk in the park, asking a girl to be your girlfriend though…that was where it was hardest. Sure he was a flirt and he had flirted and dated some girls before but Kaya was different. She was special. She was life and he was death, two opposites but they attracted one another and he was attracted to her.

Hearing her accept made his smile widen even more. Moving in he gently gave her a hug and stopped himself from kissing her when the vase was brought up. “Well, I am a sucker for cheesy and I really never did any of the couple like things before. So I’m game for us making the vase and painting it together. And I promise not to paint nothing but death on it either.” Yeah, that would be bad if he did nothing but skeletons and dead things on one side of the vase.

As he got things ready to help them cook he couldn’t help but keep the smile plastered on his face, they were actually cooking a meal together and he couldn’t be happier about it. “ Exactly! No one wants to date someone normal where is the fun in that?” Thankfully she was okay with dating someone who wasn’t normal like him. Come on, who in their right mind would want to be with someone who had death in their blood? No one really. When she poked his side he couldn’t help but laugh. “Hey! I told you I was ticklish.” He grins over to her and then smirks. “Does this mean I will come under tickle attacks a lot?” Now that would be funny to see happen. His mind returned back to the task as they worked together to cook.

His eyes widened and he started laughing. “Are you serious? You burned it that badly?” He looked to the pot he was cooking with and teasingly moved it as far away from her as possible. “Can’t have another victim being sent to an early grave.” Yes, he was jokingly teasing her but it was all in good fun. Besides he was expecting tickle retaliation for that one. “Come on, you know you’re really cute blushing so just being stuck that way would be amazing.” He loved it when he made her blush, it enhanced her beauty even more. She was the perfect picture of beauty, yes even more so than Venus or any of her daughters.

Laughing more he looked over to her while the pot was waiting to boil. “I don’t think they would mind with how much money you’d be paying them.” That was a fact, they would enjoy all the money she would give them. Leaning into her he kissed her softly and sighed in content when she kissed him back. This whole night was going to be perfect because it was just the two of them. Well Merlin was here and he was kind of an intruder on the date but he was fine with that. They could all be snuggled under the blanket.

Kaya laughed. “Listen to you! You’re the one who’s totally and completely awesome. I mean it too!” She had to hug him quickly. He was simply too sweet. Everything about him was wonderful. She paused a moment to just enjoy his… well, just him. Her boyfriend. Yes, she was beyond happy he’d asked her out. Well, correction, he’d asked her out at the hospital on his check-up. Then he’d asked her officially to be his girlfriend. She was ecstatic.

And he hugged her, admittedly a lot more gently than she had hugged him. She was just excited, okay? He was more… like a gentleman. She giggled at his words. “Never any cheesy stuff? Me either. This should be interesting then. I’m actually really looking forward to this. Is that weird?” She laughed. “I know you won’t. You’re too cool to do that. Unless you want to paint like… skeletons dancing in the sunlight. Okay, that sounds really weird… Maybe not that.”

She glanced sideways at him while they worked on starting up their meal. He looked so happy. She wished she could take a picture of him right as he was right now. She grinned. “Couldn’t be more right!” So what did she do? She poked him, trying to get a laugh out of him. It worked. “Duh you did. Why do you think I tried?” She smirked teasingly. “Possibly. Why should I spoil it? They’ll come when you least expect it.”

She had to laugh as she nodded. “I did! Hey! Don’t move away from me! I’m better now!” Kaya put on her best pretend pouty face. She contemplated tickling him again, but then decided she would save it up for later and tickle him mercilessly. It would be golden. “No, I’m not! What’s so cute about a girl-shaped tomato?” She scooted closer all the same after he’d scooted away from her. “Oh yeah, I’m sure they’ll love me to pieces.” She smiled slightly into the kiss. Ah, this was all so perfect. Truly it was. Everything was perfect. “So then, what’s the after dinner plan, hmm?”

“How about this, we’re both awesome?” It was a great compromise because they could go and argue back and fourth on who was awesome and they would get nowhere. It was better to just compromise now and agree that they were both awesome. They were even better when they were here together. His eyes drunk her in, she was his girlfriend now. The one girl he would ever only really care about. She was here in his arms and with him now. He would make sure to always take care of her and protect her, no matter what.

When she hugged him back he smiled, she was excited and so was he. Just he didn’t want to squeeze her to death or anything. He slowly made the hug a little more snug so she would know he didn’t really want to let her go. In the end he was going to have to but only because they would need to. “So we can be cheesy together and not have to worry about it then. It’s not weird at all, I’m looking forward to it too. You know, just you and me against the world kind of thing.”

A laugh escapes his lips as he looks into her eyes. “Actually skeleton’s in the sun might be the way to go. With every death comes life and rebirth.” Gently he rested his hands on her hips and smiled. “You know I never realized how good of a match we were. Life and death, darkness and light. You can be the inner light that shines through my darkness.” They were perfect together! “We will figure something out to paint on it, something that represents us both well.”

His eyes kept glancing to her as he smiled, he couldn’t help but feel happy that she was all his now. There was no need to worry about someone else coming in and stealing her from him. “Though if I do get hurt you can always heal me.” She was a doctor after all. When she poked him he laughed and looked to her. “You wanted to test it out and see if it was true.” He playfully stuck his tongue out at her and then grinned. “So you’re going the sneak attack tickles way?” Now that was good to know, he could be on guard for her tickle attacks.

When she told him not to move away from her he grinned and moved back to her and smirked. “I was just teasing you darling, I can see you’re better at it already.” No pots were burned yet. Seeing her pouty face he moved in and pressed a sweet kiss to her lips. Now that would make her feel better. “Well for starters, you’re my girl shaped tomato. Two I can just take you with me everywhere and three I’d love it period.” Not to mention he wanted to cuddle her. Once she scooted closer to him he slipped his arm around her and pulled her the rest of the way to him. “Well if they make millions off you in the end they’ll be happy.” That’s all they wanted anyways, money and more money. His fingers laced with hers during the kiss and at her question he smiled. “How about a romantic moonlight walk through the gardens?”
