Pluto never enjoyed the coliseum back at the height of the empire and he didn't quite fancy it now either. Especially since this seemed dull in comparison to the original thing. Ah well, at least the games and fights performed in here didn't always end up with death like the ones in the first Rome did. Whenever an emperor thought holding a month of games would be a great way to win over the crowd it always caused an influx into his domain. Death for entertainment. The human race was absolutely disgusting at times. They were by far his least favorite species. Alas, there were a few who touched his heart. But there was a reason he had so little demigod children or descendants. Not only was it hard for him to find a mortal to make him feel that way but he was also very devoted to Prosperina, though he did find himself bored at times when it was Spring and Summer and his yearning for her soft touch was too extreme for him to bear.

However, instead of checking out the mortal world he decided to stop by the demigod camp. New Rome specifically. He had plans to meet his soon-to-be daughter in law. A lovely daughter of Venus. Minus the fact that she had given birth to his niece, a daughter of Jupiter, that idiot brother of his. But Gabe had done well, better than almost all of his descendants. Not that he had much competition to beat. There was Hitler and his sister, Felicity for one. Neither left good marks on their histories. Alas, it was never easy for his descendants. People feared them due to their strong connection to the dead and things never seemed to work out for them. Pluto had thought the bad luck had skipped a generation with Gabe but his girl ending up with Jupiter that one time just proved to Pluto that it is a curse all his descendants have.

Speaking of descendants. He had a few legacies from his children of previous generations here. Zane was one, last Pluto had heard the lad was pursuing a descendant of Apollo. Apollo, Venus, and Mars. Gods, his descendants had weird taste in their partners. Why not go after a mortal or something, why make the childrens lives more miserable by adding more godly lineage to them? Oh well, he let his descendants curve their own path. So what if Jupiter said they could interfere in their lives now? Pluto liked his distance. He kept an eye on them but ultimately let his kids curve their own paths, sometimes good, sometimes bad. It was always interesting to see how the Fates spun them.

Today was one of those days that Zane actually wanted to be in the camp, there were the training fields and he enjoyed that place so much. It was a place he could go and hone his skills in case a battle called those in New Rome into action. Sure there were better things he could be doing right now like interrupting Kaya from her studies but there were times she actually needed to focus and study. As for his classes, well he kind of decided to drop out of college for now. Don’t get him wrong, he wanted to be in school to further his career but he didn’t actually need it. Why go to school when you can make your way to Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker? Best place for a man with his talents to win a lot of money.

Currently he was making his way back from the Fields of Mars from a long day of training. That was the one thing that could always hit the spot when he had the itch, it was an itch for battle and well there was only one way to scratch that. As he came to the gates of New Rome he left his bow, arrows and sword behind. That was the one thing he hated about New Rome, there was no proper way to defend yourself unless you had a weapon secretly stashed in your house.

Slowly his mind drifted back to Kaya in wonder of what she was doing tonight, that was when he felt it. There was someone powerful around. No, it’s not like it was a sixth sense or anything like that, it was more like he could feel the power radiating in the air. It had to be a God, that or there was a very powerful demi-god around. Keeping his eyes peeled as he made his way towards where he felt that disturbing in crease in power he found himself at the coliseum. What would someone be doing here? There was only one God that crossed his mind and that was Mars. Maybe he was here training with one of his kids.

As he looked around his eyes finally landed on him, this could not be possible! Shaking his head he blinked a couple of times and then did a double take. Yes, it was him! Pluto, the lord of the dead himself was here! Hopefully he wasn’t here to collect anyone’s souls. How did he know this was Pluto? He had heard the descriptions of what he looked like and this man matched it perfectly. Making his way over to the Lord of the Underworld he gave him a smile. That was why this power felt so strong and just amazing; it was coming from his great grandfather! When he reached the Lord of the Dead he went to one knee and bowed. “Hello Lord Pluto, greatest of the Gods.” His eyes stayed to the ground out of respect waiting for him to tell him he could rise. Yes, he was family and he had major respect for family, like Pluto.

As his mind wandered over to thinking about his descendants it seems a cruel trick of the fates to bring one of them over to him. This one was his great grandson from the one daughter he probably despised out of all his children, and remember, Hitler was Plutos son. The only child he had with his beloved Proserpina, and who turned traitor in a hope to gain control of the Underworld. Needless to say she was no longer invited to family dinners. Yet, he did not hold his daughter pathetic reputation against hi grandson. No, he gave them all a chance. Quite frankly he was prouder of his grandsom than he was of the boys mother. However, at the introduction he gave Pluto couldn't help but try his best to resist rolling his eyes.

"Zane, if you're hoping to raise my ego you're not going to get far and if Jupiter had been around the corner you might have just started world war three. Watch what you say, boy." Pluto stated, sounding a tad annoyed at the proclamation that Zane gave him. No doubt if the boys grandmother, Melinoe, had heard him address Pluto in that way the boy would be getting more than a time out and a send off to bed without dinner. Pluto was well aware of the hatred that Melinoe had for him.

There was a reason she was shrouded in the history books and treated as if she no longer existed. It was what Pluto wanted, him and Proserpina. It did hurt them, make no mistake of that but it was a necessary act that needed to be done and since the girl had not changed her behavior in years then Pluto saw no need to rectify the decision he made all those many years ago. Now Pluto had other children, granted none with Proserpina, unfortunately. But the children he had at the moment for the most part he was able to be slightly proud of them. Some outweighed others, like how Gabe was obviously better than Felicity. That was just one example. Besides, Proserpina had children of her own without Pluto too. How do you think that stain of Evelyn came to be. Not that Pluto could blame the girls ancestry, honestly how was such an evil brat related to his loving and adorable wife? It made no sense to him.

How did he know that his day was going to take this sort of turn? Here he was thinking about going to see Kaya and he ended up here, in front of the lord of the dead himself. His eyes looked up to his grandfather in awe and yes, in a little fear. This was the man that at the very snap of his fingers he could send you to the underworld just because he was sick and tired of dealing with you. When his grandfather spoke to him he felt a flash of shame and disgrace. Sure what he said was true but it looked like Lord Pluto was growing more humble in his old age…well not old but you get what he means.

“I’m sorry my lord, I did not mean to offend anyone.” Yes, that was for anyone else who could be listening in on their conversation. “ I only meant that you are the greatest of the underworld gods. I still bid you good day Lord Pluto.” Did anyone else think it was weird that he was calling him Pluto and not grandfather? Well he for one did and it was so strange! He wanted to talk to the man like a normal kid to his grandfather but that really did seem impossible.

Standing up he looked into the mans eyes and gave him a kind smile. He was still only human and it was like he was talking to an old friend. “So what brings you here today my lord? Anything that I could assist you with?” World domination? Take over Olympus? Destroy all the enemies of the underworld? Either of the choices would do well. Wait, was he really thinking about all of this when he had other things to deal with? He needed to figure out what he was going to surprise Kaya with tonight. If he could they would spend a nice night in and hang out together after having an amazing dinner.

Wait, back to what really mattered, he was spending time with his grandfather! Well he was going to be if the man really wanted to actually spend time with him. Looking back up to the man he moved next to him and hopefully he would allow him to tag along if he had some other places to be.
