Proserpina enjoyed all the seasons. Obviously her specialty was Spring, but they all had their pros and cons. Summertime was nice, especially in this area where it didn’t as hot as others. Some flowers still bloomed. For instance, there were the flowers before her. She sat with her knees folded on the ground in front of her. After all, she was wearing a spring dress, dotted with pink flowers. It would not be ladylike to cross her legs. She really didn’t cross her legs all that much anyway, unless it was while in her pajamas perched on her bed doing something. She was a queen in the Underworld and the daughter of the king on Olympus. Not that Jupiter ever much minded her. She still took her job seriously. Plus, being formal was just in her nature. Beyond that, back to what she was doing.
The Little Tiber was swift and cold, yes, but it was still water and water was life. The ground on its banks was good and well irrigated. Even without her powers, plants could easily grow here from the water soaking into the soil and the nice direct sunlight. She held her hand up against the ground and thought of something nice and pretty that could grow here. She smiled as, between her fingers, sprouted a small stem that grew as if in one of those time lapse videos. It grew taller until it reached her chin where she sat, then several delicate little¬ buds formed along it and opened up into decently big purple flowers with rounded, brown centers. Purple Cone Flowers. She smiles and leaned back on her hands, admiring the little blooms. These lovely little things bloomed all summer long and loved the sunshine, so surely they would love it here. A light breeze rustled the tall stem, also blowing some of her auburn hair in her face, which she brushed back and tucked behind her ear. She liked her hair down, even at formal events, if it was Spring or Summer. Fall and Winter, it was fifty-fifty.
