Notes: Sorry short. This is the first post of Josh after Rhia's death.
Weeks had passed since Rhia had been murdered, Camp seemed to have accepted it well. Who would care if such a traitor was murdered in such demonic way?! 'she deserved to die...' at least is what people said those days. 'poor kid and husband...' they also said that, but they weren't talking about the pain and sorrow of losing a wife, a mother... but only the shame of having to carry her memory and name in their lives. Well... at least that was what was in their minds and tongues. But for Joshua... for him it was more than pain. He had lost the woman that he had loved, his other half, his rock of reason and mental sanity and he had lost her.
"come on!! move Carstairs! duck if you want to keep your head connected to your body!" he yelled at the young daughter of Trivia. Usually he was a nice leader, just and right, he was the fun side of the centurions of fifth cohort, but that day he was no fun, he seemed as if a demon was living inside his mind and soul and was devouring his heart. "Get up Jones! get on that task and pass it! we won't move from this place until you all finish it!" maybe it was only because he was scared to lose more people, but he didn't want his cohort to be the weakest in Camp any more. he wanted them to be ready for anything!!
Gunanr found it quite hard to accept that both people that meant more to him in his life then in the world, they were gone. His grandfather must have felt so guilty about having to take Tessa, though why he would leave Charlie, that was a better question. Though the Legacy knew that there were reasons, important reasons that Mors would have left Charlie, they both cared for each other deeply. But he felt the aching in his heart, the feeling that he wished he could cut off. For the past few weeks, he shut himself off in the world, closing himself off since the funeral, since Apollo had come to fetch him. He promised Lord Apollo that he would have taken care of Tessa, but she was gone. He couldn't help her or keep her safe. It was a pit that had welled up in his stomach. But it seemed that he wasn't the only person to loose someone.
Josh, Gunnar thought as he walked towards the obstacle course. He had spent many days and nights in the library of both the University here in town and the Law Library at Harvard. He had a paper due though he was tired of working on. He had seemed to hit a mental block that couldn't seem to be broken through. He watched the fifth cohort work. Slowly but surely they were starting to become a strong cohort. Gunnar believed that both Josh and Ronan were strong people and if there was anyone that could turn them into a cohort to be proud of, it was Rogers and Redpath. "Whenever you're done running your cohort into the ground, as amusing as it is to see the daughter of Trivia fall on her face....again, I'd like a word." Gunnar said as he appeared behind Josh with a small pop of his shadow traveling.
Notes: Josh doesn't know about Gunnar's pain!! he hasn't checked the news recently!
Josh looked how Jones pushed himself over the next task and barely passed it. Josh made mental notes about the strengths and weaknesses that the members of the once called the weakest cohort in Camp, the fifth cohort, the cohort of geeks and greeks. He hated those nicknames! because even when he used to be a lazy member and a laid back leader, he always thought that his cohort could be much more than just the reason of mocks in Camp. Redpath was an amazing co-centurion, he was strong and firm, but also just. Josh was thankful that he was there also, in that moment he was for sure working hard, as always, in the forge.
Suddenly he listened to a pop that in a way he knew very well and in other ways, he didn't know that well. A pop that it was made when people traveled among realms and dimensions. He didn't look at the place, he was more concerned about that ten year old girl that just got to camp weeks before that drill. Then he listened to the voice, which confirmed his thought about the pop. He glanced at Gunnar and then looked away again, but only to check that the little girl passed the last task. Then he looked back at the owner of the voice and smiled at him, his smile was a tired one, he looked older than he really was. "Good day Erickson, The girl was the last one, so I have some time now. and they will thank you for distracting me for a moment." he chuckled at his... friend. "How can I help?"
