Remus reveled in the pain, the exertion. He needed this. He was this. He was pain. Pain was progress. Dinner hour was past and in fact, so was curfew. But who would pick on him right now? Darkness had fallen. He couldn’t see all that well far out here on the obstacle course, but he didn’t need to. He knew it so well. But he also wanted the challenge. He didn’t fear anything in the woods that crept so close to the course. And that had nothing to do with the gleaming red eyes glimmering just a ways off, connected to the ground by a sleek gold body that the moonlight turned white. Sweat drenched his face though it was decently chilly out. The cold out was nothing compared to the cold within, though.

How long had it been? He’d lost count. A dozen visits to an empty apartment. Even more late nights hating himself and, eventually, everything. He went over there yesterday with nice cold turkey subs he’d made himself and a container of fresh boiled cranberry sauce for the occasion. What did he find? Nothing. So he left. He ate his dinner alone. Happy Thanksgiving. As he sat alone that night, he made a definite choice. No longer was he going to pursue her. He’d done that long enough. He’d been through enough. She obviously…. Well, obviously something! Their wedding was supposedly next month. She probably would forget to come to it. That was, assuming he bothered to show up. He was furious! His Mars blood boiled over.

He punched one of the wooden support beams for no apparent reason and heard a violent crack. Adrenaline pumped as he was in this moment, it didn’t even faze him when he looked down at his hand as saw an enormous gash that was oozing blood in a most unseemly manner. He flicked his wrist and the droplets of blood flew away into the gravel below. Red eyes perked up, as though they sensed the wound and wanted to stop whatever had caused it. Unfortunately, it was not in the greyhound’s power to stop this threat.

It was curfew already, even for common legionaries, even more for those who had no trust from the heads of the Legion and Senate. But that night Eve needed to get her mind demolished from stupid ideas. she didn't want to bother Ben, he was so sweet, he was her peace, her pure love. But in Fall and Winter her mind was so weird, it always went to deep dark moments and ideas in her life. She tend to remember the time when she was enemy of Rome, When she was decieving and plotting against Rome and the amazing people in it.

Thinking about those mment in her life made her go even deeper in the darkness of her heart. The only bright moment in those dark times was the moment when she was loved by Stone. If only she could make things ok with him, if only he could fogive her for all of the things she had done to him... Well maybe that would never happen, but she would always try to get to that. But she hoped that Ben would understand that. that she loved Remus, but not like that anymore, well, not that she consciously felt.

She walked down the Via and got into the Obstacle course, she thouught of exercising some hours, to keep those ideas away from her mind and heart. But when she got there she saw a shadow there and heard a thud hit. She stopped and waited a moment, then breathed deeply and walked again towards the shadow, silently as only a crud assassin would do it. Then she saw the glimpse of blond spiky hair, then the shape of his body... "Remus..." she said and walked closer to where he was. She wondered why he was in such state. in less than a month he would get married and live happy everafter.

Remus cupped the probably fractured hand against his chest a moment to put a little pressure on it, which left a lovely bloody spot on his shirt. He sighed. He was Roman. He’d keep going. He’d always keep going. He was a son of Mars. Mars’ children never gave up. He put the injured hand back at his side and went into a run to see how far he could leap. Kind of a joke in the daylight, jumping between beams of wood with spikes below, but at night when you couldn’t see the beams, it might be considered fun. He jumped and felt his lead foot make contact with the beam. Had he not been so used to this exercise, there might have been a thrill of fear that momentum would not help him enough. But not now. Now he knew better. His second foot landed and he wasted not a moment in shoving off again to the next one.

As he got to the fourth, something caught his eye. The gleam of metal as Aurum moved to stand. Something was out here. Not that he was frightened. He could handle anything. So he kept going. He reached the next section of the course and was about to scale the wall when he heard a voice. He had already started climbing the wall, which meant more blood from that hand. When he heard the voice, he let go and dropped the few feet to the ground to look around. There she was. He squinted in the moonlight. Was it really her? He approached. “Eve? What are you doing up this late?” He partially hid his bloody hand behind his back so she wouldn’t see. Aurum came over to wait attentively with eyes gleaming brilliant red. The lack of sunlight hid his dirty, sweaty appearance at least. He needed a cool shower, to say the least. He was actually kind of embarrassed to see her like this, but at least she wasn’t hugging him. That would be gross for her. Plus last thing the papers needed was someone finding traces of his blood on her clothing. They’d be in an uproar about her assaulting him or something.

Notes: sorry about the delay!

Eve stood there just watching to the man that once she had loved more than her own right to breath. In that moment it was different, she still loved him very much, she still would die for him, but not in the crazy and insane way she felt or she would act before. Her heart was already being healed, little by little not by the sword or physical force, But by the kindness of fresh, warm bread and the sweet touch of darkness. Eve was bit by bit more the woman she should had been before all the government mental induction.

she saw how Remus tried for those obstacles, she would like to try too. She wanted to burn some energy too, but looking at him, she also got confused again about her feelings. She hadn't been able to define what was the real feeling she got for him, she knew She loved Benjamin, she knew it deep in her mind and heart, but she hadn't really realized about it. And about the great Praetor... well, her mind still lingered in the idea of romantic love even when her heart didn't feel it anymore.

She then saw how he was approaching and she smiled softly at him. "Well... I know is after curfew, but I needed some exercise... so I came here, I didn't know you would be here." She looked into his eyes and then looked down and noticed how he put his hand in his back. "is it... everything ok?" a bit nervous, maybe he thought she was about to attack him and he was just holding his dagger back.

Remus hated feeling like this, but… he was getting used to it. Anger taking over. It happened a lot. Especially now that he had no one, basically. Jason was always with his wife when he wasn’t working, Felicity was totally gone. He trained with the cohorts, but he wasn’t in one. He still went to bed alone every night. No barracks of cohort-mates. It was just him.

He looked down at his gashed hand and sighed. Well, a little bandaging would be necessary, but not infirmary visit. Teach him for punching things. Oh well. He’d probably keep doing anyway. It was release. He wiped the blood against his shirt and kept going to the wall. Which was about when he noticed he wasn’t alone. He jumped from the wall and looked hard at the figure. Then he noticed who it was. Eve. A different kind of pain came into him. Did he still love her? He wasn’t sure. He wanted to be with her right now, but he was nervous of just that.

He walked over, Aurum following, and called out a question. There was that smile. He smiled back, he didn’t know why. He wasn’t happy. He just… was glad not to be alone anymore, and glad it was with her. He nodded solemnly. “I was just venting in my own way here, so no judging in you needing it too. Or, you know, I shouldn’t assume.” For all he knew she was perfectly happy. She did have that baker boy now. Was it bad he felt jealous all a sudden? “Huh? Oh, just this. Didn’t want you to see.” He held out the wounded hand for her this time, with fresh blood covering it. “It’s nothing really.”
