The Beauty and the Warrior (Remus)

It was a beautiful cold morning at Camp, people were enjoying it as much as they could. Some people, like children of Venus, Proserpina and Ceres, didn't like cold very much. They enjoyed more the sunny days, they felt them more pleasant and friendly. Rosemary was in many ways one of them. Even though she had been rised in Alaska, she didn't really like cold days, they weren't good for her plants and her animals. So she tried to keep all of them warm, or as warm a possible in Winter days.

Rose was supposed to wake up, as every morning, real early. 5am and she usually was already up, dressed and well fed. She had always liked to start her duties before sunrise so when the sun was up it could find her animals roaming the small meadow in her farm, and her plants got the nutricious light beams already watered. But that morning she didn't wake up before five as she always did. A night before, she had to take care of the little raspberry bushes that she planted past Spring. You see, Winter also brought with it frozen days and nights. So she went to help the bushes and spent all night long with them, placing some cans with fire around them and covering them from the cold night.

Next morning she woke up at 6am, after taking a 30 minute nap. She was laying on the ground among two bushes and the improvised firecamps. She stretched out and rubbed her eyes when the sun careshed her face. She got up amd smiled when she saw the bushes were safe. Then she went to the barn and let the animals out, fed them and watered the plants. Then she checked her kitchen and she had to go to the market to buy some things. So she went to the inner circle of the city just after cleaning herself a bit.

She was walking down Via Pia when she saw a beautiful poinsetia on a side of the road. "hey pretty one!"

Remus was brooding. This was perfectly normal these days. He kept Aurum at his side, and a bundle of papers in his bag. Work on the road. Mostly because he hated locking himself up, yet he still felt like crap. Complete and utter crap. Less than a month ago, there had been an attempt on his life… by his wife. He’d watched her go, furious. Now he was horribly torn. He’d gone back to their apartment to seek something out before the place was sold. Then he saw it. The other man. It would have seemed that her accusations of him going out behind her back all that time ago were actually nothing more than hiding her own adventures. Then that heartfelt moment of seeing her truly broken. It had killed him, but it also told him that things were definitely over. He let her go. It’s what they said you were supposed to do to things you loved, right? Let your dog die when the illness got too far. Let your childhood blanket go because you couldn’t take it to school. Let go. That was what he was doing right now. Besides, that guy that had been there with her, so obviously someone did care about her. That’s all he needed to know. She was taken care of.

Then there was him. He’d just have to deal. Guys didn’t need help. They weren’t meant to have help. It was unmasculine. UnRoman. Something like that. The only person he ever asked for help from was his mother. Who had already gotten a heaping helping of ‘help me’ already, poor woman. He’d called her right away. In tears. She’d talked to him through four denarii. That was only because he couldn’t find any more. But just yesterday he got something. He sat on a bench at the side of the via and pulled out a book. A beat-up book, well loved. His mom had send it to him express two day mail and it had just arrived. It was a worn out copy of The Three Musketeers, and it was the one she claimed had helped her through more than her fair share or downs she’d been through. Now it was his turn. Take up his sword like the Musketeers and win the fair lady against the powers of evil. Yes, he would be the hero. Even if no one else believed he was. Page one.

Rose love allof her mother's creations no matter what were they or what they did. All of them were amazing creations of the gods and she respected them all. She knelt next to the poinsetia and checke. That the awful cold of last night hadn't hurt it, but it was a strong little one and she seemed to be perfectly fine. "you are so lucky" she told the flower and just checked the land, it was dark and nutritious for the poinsetia. She cleaned the leaves of the plant and then moved a bit the soil, so it had more oxygen.

Someone past walking behind her, at first she didn't pay attention who that person was. She just kept herself working. She opened a hole and transplanted some bad weed that was near the flower. Then covered the weed and then smiled. "now be nice and play nicely" she told the plants as if they were children. Then she got up and looked around, there he was. It was Remus Stone, he had allowed her to get her animals to the infiary for the kids. He was a nice man. But he had such a sad look! She walked closer to him and smiled softly, then without a warning she sat down next to him.

"That is a very good book,..." she said and thensmiled softly at him hoping that he didn't mind the company or the interruption,she only felt that he needed more than only a book. Sometimes humans needed of other humans. She knew it because even whem she enjoyed her farm and being secluded, she also loved the human imteraction.
