Caitlyn had it all figured out. Or so she hoped. She usually kept her teleporting to under a mile, just in case. She didn't really want to faint or get sick in front of people. Not very dignified or Roman like, especially being in the second most prestigious cohort. But this time, she wanted to try. Perhaps she could expand her power. Besides, maybe it was something she just needed practice on... maybe she could slowly ease herself into going further directions. Not ten miles or across a continent like her father, but maybe around 5 miles. One day. Maybe, maybe not. Well, never knew until you tried, and Kate had decided on this day (for no particular reason) that she'd try it.
She had very meticulously planned it out. An foot or two beyond a mile. One good thing (if not slightly scary) about only being able to teleport a mile was that she had taught herself exactly how far a mile would be from almost anywhere in Camp and New Rome. She taught herself this mostly in the months of the impending war. She had sort of obsessed over it. Lost sleep on it. Hundreds of diagrams. Night after night of memorization. Precise measurements. Her looking like a bit of a lunatic. But it was worth it in the end. She had teleported a fair bit during the war. Out of fear of passing out mid-battle, she never did teleport the full mile (that was only going to be for emergencies), but just knowing her limits had helped her tremendously.
Alright. Now or never. Just do it. Kate took a deep breath and willed herself to vanish. With any luck, she'd land twelve inches from the ouster perimeter of the field of Mars. Land there she did, but not without taking into account that there could be a person there...OOC: Finally got kate to talk to me again :D
