Tessa was struggling. Trying to keep her chin up, to keep everything hidden from the people that cared about her. Smiles and laughing came to her lips as easily as it had before she died, not the smile she showed Gunnar. Never one quite full of joy as she once had, because he had left her. Working hard at school, telling her to not exist. This feeling was familiar. She knew how to deal with this. She knew what she needed to do, though it hadn't worked last time. Perhaps this time it would. Perhaps this time she could earn the love of the person she cared so much about. Volunteering at the infirmary when she could, and at the hospital in New Rome, while going to summer classes in the University of California. There where several classes she could take, and they were only a few weeks long. All the knowledge she needed was condensed into such a short time. However this was not something she wasn't used to. After all Tessa always tried to work and study far too hard.
Forge work was something she once did, at least a little bit. It hurt, and stung her fingers and arms horribly. The heat was almost unbearable at times, but she did it. Now she used that time to do other things. Anything else. Any way to prove to Gunnar she was worthy of existing, or being cared for again. Though she knew she needed to prove this to Lord Pluto and Lady Proserpina as well. Going to school was difficult though, out in the world. Looking over her shoulder for monsters, and whatever else was out there wanting to hunt them.
Her face was bruised badly, her arm and hand torn. Keeping her distance from the cyclops had been difficult, but prosperous. It lay defeated in the alley, while she lived. Her injuries wouldn't scar, but they stung. Once she got back to camp she could need to disinfect them. A bit of blood stung her eye and the grandchild of Apollo touched the cut on her head. Had a piece of rock flung off the larger one that it had thrown at her? Perhaps. For now she put her bow away, returning it to it's mundane state. Stashed her arrows back into her school bag and pulled out a small first aid kit. While walking out of the alley, she wiped the blood from her forehead with a disinfecting wipe.
