Charlie liked the feeling of the warmth on her face, the sun shining down through the dappled branches, making the ground look like a spotted animal of sorts. she couldn't help but smile as she leaned against the marble rail. The gardens here were quite nice, beautiful even. She smiled widely. She wished that she could have brought her grandmother to a place like this. In her minds eye, she could see the house where she had grown up in, the driveway stretching back to the carport and garage in the back yard, the little walkway between the car port and the double sliding doors, the raised garden beds filled with herbs and a little concrete patio with a wooden bench bolted down so no storm could blow it free. This garden was different. Here the trees were trellised upwards over wrought iron bars, vines creating pathways and the beautiful flowers in bright bursts of colors broke up the monotony of the lush and green bushes and plants that created this little tunnel. The place was like a maze, a labyrinth of plants. She was no child of Ceres, but she knew that they had their own place in the cultivation. The air smelled of Lavender, honeysuckle, and other beautiful flowers. She could hear the sound of birds chirping and chittering, the sound of the squirrels and chipmunks skittering back and forth. She closed her eyes for a moment and it was almost like she was at home, playing hide and seek in the park with her friends before the call could be heard across the base where they lived.
Charlie gently turned on the heel of her shoe, moving so that she felt the gentle breeze under her thick and curly hair. She took her shoes off for a moment, feeling the dirt of the path between her toes as she walked. The dirt was warm but at the same time it was pretty cool. Her fingers were out stretched as she walked, feeling the leaves gently tickle the tips of her fingers. There was the smell of damp and fresh earth as she inhaled deeply, the smell of grass and pine as she moved about the little park. She could hear the buzzing of the bees and the sound of a trickeling creek near by. Gently, she dipped her feet in the cool water. she hummed the small song to herself as she watched the little guppies and tadpoles swim by. She couldn't be certain but she had a distinct feeling that there was a chance that she had seen a salamander wandering by the little creek.
