Ava usually could be found by the lake, or the little tiber, or the fountain, or the pool, or any sort of body of water. The reality of it was that while she felt better with water, unless someone decided to use the ocean to attack the camp and city, which was a possibility, but for now she was doing what many people referred to as dry land training. Her preferred weapon of choice was a katana but here things were different. She had been in the kendo club at school, also the archery club as well. None of that was even a shred close to what the roman training was like. But she was adapting. She had become stronger. Ava was no longer that scared little girl who had barely made it from the wolf house alive, she wasn't someone who depended on other people for their strengths. She could stand on her own two feet and believe in herself and believe in other people. Ava had her hair pulled back into it's customary braid, trailing down her back as she showed her blue and green scales that lined her spine. They used to bring her discomfort, embarrassment, but now they brought a sense of endearment. She loved them and couldn't think of where she would be without them.
Her daggers were for up close fighting. Not to mention the two inch long spines that protruded from her arms like quills. They wern't as deadly as the spines a lion fish had, those were venomous, but they were razor sharp. Each methodical strike was the same, working it till she couldn't get it wrong. Her spines left gouges in the wooden dummies that were made by the forge. some of them were dressed in armor and others spun around like they were trying to attack you. The one that she was presently squaring off with was stationary. She didn't mind working with a stationary one to perfect techniques, in a moment, she would move on to a moving one. Ava paused briefly to take a long sip from her water bottle, mostly containing gatorade. IT was ice cold and nearly made her throat clench up from the sudden change in temperature. Grabbing a towel, she draped it around her shoulders as she used one end to wipe her face off. Gods was she grateful to feel a breeze.
Pulling a stone from her pocket, she started to work on honing the edges of her blades. The daggers were tinged blue, they reminded her of the sea. They had a crescent shaped curve to them and were just as wickedly sharp as her own spines. She was trying to catch her breath, only just for a moment, but then it would be back to training. Always the training.
