Ava sat with a small tea pot placed against the blanket while she dipped her toes in the lake. Each little drop in the water made her feel as if she was being revitalized. The water was cool and refreshing against the hot and overly bearing day. For some reason it felt as if the sun was closer to the earth than usual. Whether or not that was true, well it didn't matter. In the small tea pot was green tea, chilled, sweetened with honey and lemon. She would pour out into a small stonewear cup that was also chilled. It wasn't numbingly cold in her hands but enough that it would send chills down some unsuspecting persons spine if she were to put her cold hands on their neck. Which she usually did to her friends on more than one occasion. Today would be a day for cold soba noodles and watermelon. So that's what she had for lunch. She should probably be training but she just couldn't bring herself to do so. Times were hard and they were tough. Even though everyone spoke that it was a time of peace, she couldn't believe it. Ava was wary and really didn't want to see it. Even if it was peace, it was starting to become complacency. They were demi-gods and there was always going to be a time when something was going to loom over their heads like a vulture wanting to circle.
She sipped at the cool cup, the frigid liquid slipped past her lips and down her throat. It cooled her nearly instantly. IT was like coming in from an overly hot day and peeling off your socks and shoes, there was an instant change in tempreature. She didn't know why or how it managed to work like that but gods was she grateful for it. Even the heat back on Nurishima wasn't nearly as bad. But at least they had the sea breeze to keep them cool. Her feet were now calloused from lack of being able to walk on sand the same way that she used to. Sand was a natural exfoliant for getting rid of dead and rough skin. Not that she was eager to leave the Legion. She still had so much training to do. She took another sip before she gently rested against the trunk of the tree near by. There were so many people here, children playing the sound of happiness, it was something that she loved dearly.
