It had been a few days and now Honos was going to surprise Amelia. He never wanted to stop courting his wife and taking her on dates because come on, that’s what good husbands did. That was how his whole plan for today had come into motion. First he’d gotten a babysitter for Yvette this way she was taken care of, secondly he’d booked a table at Chez Toinette a couple of nights ago. From what he’d heard it was an amazing place and the tables went fast because there were very few of them. There was a reason he was doing this, he’d been so busy the past few days, Amelia needed a small break from constantly taking care of Yvette, and they just needed to go on a date.

Because her mother was Venus he had no doubt that she would come out looking stunning. Yes, he had been smart and actually told her earlier about their plans this way she had enough time to find an outfit and get ready. After looking himself over in the mirror once more he made sure to fix anything wrong with his suit, it had to be perfect. Once done he made his way over to Yvette and picked her up, she was so precious and he was always going to protect her. Nothing would dare harm her and Amelia while he was around. Not even that, when he wasn’t around nothing would dare harm them.

“Be good for the baby sitter tonight, okay? Mommy and daddy are going on a date so they will be back later, just know that we love you so very much.” She had grown as close to his heart as her mother and well, he hated when he had to leave his daughter. She might belong to Jupiter but she was his daughter now. “Darling, are you almost ready to go?” When Yvette grabs onto his finger she pulls it close and snuggles into his hand. “Little one you make it really hard to want to leave you behind while we go out.”

When Amelia heard that this dinner date was a happening thing, she decided it was time to go all out. She took all her Venus-child knowhow into this. Black was classy. So she put on a dress she had bought the other day at a boutique here in the fashion district. Honos had not yet seen it and she hoped he forgave her the bill, but she’d always dreamed of owning something bought in the fashion district in the fashion capital. So she went with dazzling, to win him over into thinking this purchase had been a good idea. It was a long evening gown that held little interest except around the neck, where glass beads were woven into a lacelike pattern. Pair it with some dangling Swarovski earrings and some black heels and a silver clutch. Her hair was already done in meticulous waves. Her makeup, immaculate down to the perfectly edged red lipstick.

She leaned into the mirror in the bathroom and double checked her mascara as she heard Honos call for her. “Coming, darling!” She stood tall and sure and fixed her hair to lay just so that his first sight of her like this would have the proper effect. No, she wasn’t in this for anything. She just wanted to show her perfect husband how much she loved him in the best way she had been raised to know: look impeccable so that he did not feel he had settled for the lesser of the flocks of women out there. She employeed her age-old knowledge of how to walk fluidly in heels as she entered Yvette’s room where he was, but her attempt at outshining the stars themselves ended there. For, you must understand, the sight that met her eyes melted her. There was Honos holding their precious little girl like she was the entire world to him. It was a good thing she always went with the quality eyeliner and mascara that dare never run no matter what (and was equally hard to get off intentionally) because the scene made her want to cry. Her clutch, originally held at an angle before her, dropped to her side as she walked over and brushed her fingers through Yvette’s bright golden fluffy curls. Apparently Amelia too had been born a blond, so this was not surprising to her that her daughter to after her in that way. If she took after her all the way, she’d be dirty blonde by second grade and brunette by fifth.

This dinner was going to be the best thing ever; he couldn’t wait to take her out to one of the best places in town. Thankfully she spoke French fluently thanks to her mother. Once more he checked his appearance in the mirror making sure that his suit was perfect. His eyes glancing over to Yvette. “So, how do I look? Yes, I want you to be honest too.” What? He knew he was talking to a toddler but it didn’t matter. She was his whole world. Well one of his worlds. His other world was getting ready for their date night.

Once he had her in his arms he didn’t want to let their little one down. By birth she was a daughter of Jupiter but that didn’t matter. He was the one in her life now and he was her father. He loved her with his whole heart and he would never want to let her go. She was the best child in the world. “If you’re good maybe I can convince mommy to bring you a present.” He spoiled this little girl, she was going to grow up and be a daddy’s girl with him wrapped around her little finger.

When Amelia walked in and she came over to him his heart stopped for a second as his breath hitched in his throat. She looked stunning. “Wow, you look stunning.” Thank god he had a great hold on Yvette because he probably would have almost dropped her. Wow, that was all he could say. She really took his breath away. “Are you ready to go my love?” He kisses Yvette’s cheek and then offers her cheek to Amelia. “We’ll be back later.” His eyes look up into Amelia’s and he grins, tonight was going to be amazing!

Amelia finished up and walked to the nursery where the cutest scene ever met her eyes. She placed a carefully self-manicured hand over her heart before walking up. “And yes, I did hear you convincing her mommy was bringing a present.” She smirked and then laughed. “Which she probably will.” She blushed when she noticed he didn’t seem to register that immediately as he stared and then finally managed to spit out that she looked stunning. She walked up and leaned up and kissed his cheek. “Only for you. Oh, and don’t worry.” She ran her pointer finger across her red lips and held it up for him to see, completely normal. “I only get the good kind, so you don’t have lip marks on your cheek right now.”

Amelia rested her left hand on his shoulder, the diamond of her engagement ring catching in the soft light of the nursery, brought even more strongly out by the shine of the actual wedding band. “I am, once we get through the challenge of leaving Yvette here. Are you sure she’ll be okay?” She leaned down and kissed their daughter’s cheek. “Mommy and daddy love you, darling.” She walked over to the top of the little bedtime story bookshelf, hardly a meter tall, and turned on the lamp there. With the room decently dim, the heat of the lamp made the shade turn, which cast the light of cut-out stars around the room, slowly spinning. Amelia came back over to see it had done it’s job. Yvette really did love that lamp. Well, mix shiny and moving and you had a winner when it came to toddlers. As it was, Yvette had forgotten everything and was staring wide-eyed at the stars on the ceiling that were magically moving. That little goodie had actually been an internet-craft idea Amelia had gotten when Honos had been away for a couple days a bit ago. She bought a cheap little lamp and made the shade out of paper, cut the stars, and cut the top just so that the venting heat would make it spin. Mom magic.

Spending time with his wife and daughter was amazing; he couldn’t help but love this little girl. He loved her about as much as he loved Amelia. Sure she might not be his daughter by blood but she was his daughter now. He missed it when Amelia walked in but when she spoke he smiled. “Well I can’t have her thinking we forgot about her. Plus, finding something new out there for her to play with will be god.” He would convince Amelia to let him bring her back a present. Something amazing that was from both of them.

When he looked Amelia over his voice caught. She looked so stunning, she was beautiful normally but now she was drop dead beautiful. “Darling, you’d give Helen of Troy a run for her money.” He didn’t care he was using a Greek reference because it was true. “Actually no, you surpass Helen in beauty, grace, fierceness, and kindness.” Amelia could start a war easy. As she kissed his cheek and pointed out that she only got the good make up he laughed. “You know, I wouldn’t expect anything less.” He wouldn’t, she was a daughter of Venus and here she was in the city that ran in her blood. She could get anything she wanted here.

As she placed her hand on his shoulder he turned his head and placed a kiss to it, that wedding ring looked beautiful on her finger. His own wedding ring made him smile every time he looked at it. His life was perfect now and he was so lucky. “It is hard wanting to leave her behind, but I think we’re strong enough to do it.” They were going to have to leave her behind eventually no matter how much it broke their hearts. “I’m sure she’ll be safe, the house has protection on it and I got someone we can trust who owes me a favor watching over her. If any monsters show up they’re going to be obliterated. I’ve made sure she’ll be protected while we’re gone.” There was no way on Olympus he was letting their daughter come to any harm. Amelia would be with him so she’d be safe, now their daughter would be under protections while they were gone so she’d be safe too.

“We love you so much Yvette.” He gently rocks her and then watches as Amelia turns on the lamp, even he was captivated by the stars and moons on the ceiling, this was amazing. Once she was staring at everything he gently placed her back in the crib and took Amelia’s hand. “I’m ready.” Carefully he led her from the room as to not distract Yvette. Once outside he sighs out, man he was going to miss her while they were gone. “We made the first steps.” Tonight for their date night. “Seeing as you look so ravishing I’m so glad I got us tickets to the opera after dinner.” He smirks. It was time for them to have some fun. “Unless you want to forgo the opera and just spend time exploring more of Paris after dinner?”

Amelia thought the sight walking in was so cute, it ought to be a picture. Unfortunately, there was no nearby camera, so that did not happen. “Wonderful idea.” Then he looked. She used to get looks all the time in her camp years, before Yvette. She had loved it. Now was different. No one was allowed to look at her that way except Honos. And when he did, now that was when she felt special. She laughed softly at his hit at Helen of Troy. Then when he went on to say she surpassed Helen, she laughed. “There we go. Start a war and end it all without mussing my hair.” She laughed, then came over and kissed his cheek, followed by reassuring him that his cheek was utterly lacking in red marks. “I’m hoping that’s good, yes?”

She smiled at the kiss he placed on her hand. She nodded. “It is hard.” She listened intently on exactly how safe their daughter would be and nodded again. “Okay, I suppose that is all good.” She smiled at Yvette, “Yes, we do. Now let mommy get your special lamp.” She went to the lamp and turned it on, then came over to peek around his shoulder as she became so astonished, he was able to put her in the crib without missing a beat. She held his arm and walked slowly with him out of the room. She sighed in unison with him. “Can you imagine sending her to camp?” she whispered.

Then they were headed out and he said something about the opera and she stopped short before they even got to the door. “What?” she asked with stars in her eyes. And then he brought up another great offer and she found things getting even more difficult. “Oh, don’t do this to me. Giving me hard options like this. Hmm… opera.”

“Why thank you, sometimes I do have good ideas.” When it came to his wife and their daughter he did try to have amazing ideas. Why? Because he loved them both so very much, he loved them more than anyone else before. When he saw her dressed ready for tonight his eyes couldn’t stay off of her as they widened. She really was stunning. She put so much work in for tonight and it was showing. Honestly he could say she did put Venus to shame. His wife was the best and he was glad that they were married. Her response to his hit at Helen made him grin. “I bet you could do it while you were getting your nails done.” Seriously she could! As she kissed his cheek he felt that same feeling in his heart he always did, he loved that feeling. “It’s very good.”

He was a gentleman after all hence his kiss to her hand. When he looked to Yvette he felt his heart ache, he didn’t want to leave her behind. This was a mommy and daddy date so sadly she had to stay behind. “She’s so precious I hate leaving her.” She was his daughter no matter what; he would never let her go. He told her everything that would happen if a monster came here and he was glad she was okay with it. They would never let their princess ever come into any harm at all. “This special lamp looks amazing.” It was, it was actually really amazing! As she sighed with him he took her hand and laced their fingers up his own voice now a whisper. “Do we have to?” He really didn’t want to send her to camp.

When she stopped he smiled. “Yes, the opera I got us tickets to it.” It would be something special for them to go see together. He could see her eyes shining as he told her and that made his heart flutter more. “Well I want date night to be special so you can have an amazing night.” When he was with Amelia all he cared about was making her happy. She was his world and he wanted her happy.

Honos was adorable. She grinned at him, totally taken aback by how wonderful he was. “You have good ideas quite a lot. In fact, good usually isn’t a strong enough word.” She watched his reaction. Sure, part of her was still her old self, who needed affirmation, who reached for that glisten in a man’s eyes. But one big difference. Now, if she saw that glisten in any man’s eyes but her husband’s, she would promptly smack them and tell them in no uncertain terms what they could do with those little ideas in their heads. What could she say? She would always have the hint of pride that came part and parcel with being her mother’s child. Though marrying the god of honor put it all in perspective. Pride and honor went hand in hand oftentimes. Pride in the right thing, that was. And she was so madly in love with him that his honorable ways were infectious.

She laughed at his words regarding her ability to outdo Helen of Troy. “All before they even dry. And not a nick in the paint, either.” She winked at him. He kissed her hand and the butterflies went nuts. She pushed them away temporarily and followed his gaze to Yvette. “She really is. Gods, I’m so glad you two have such a shine for each other. It’s one of the most wonderful feelings ever.” She went over and turned on the little lamp, smiling at him for his compliment before returning to his side. She sighed at his question. “You know I hate it as much as you.”

She had no idea what the opera might be about, but she’d never heard of a bad opera. She’d never been to one, to be honest. Amazing night? Oh, count on it. She reached up and tapped his nose. “My darling husband Honos, I would have a splendid date night no matter what we did. Opera… or pajama movie night. Anything at all where I get to be with you is positively divine. No pun intended.” She leaned up and kissed him softly and tenderly, letting it linger before pulling away and smiling. “I love you beyond the expression in any mortal language.”

“Well I really do hope to keep having good ideas, that means more date nights for us doing something amazing.” Not only would they have to be special dates but they would need to be romantic. That was important in having a love life, you needed to be romantic, spontaneous, and you needed to show your loved one that you cared about them. He loved his wife so he was going to keep romancing her every day. That was why he had todays date night all planned out, it was going to be romantic for them. One of these days he was going to take her to the gardens at his home on Olympus, not it wasn’t just his home it was her home too. They were going to live there one day, bug for now he was enjoying Earth.

As she commented about starting the war before her nails were dry he grins. She really could launch a thousand ships. Well if anyone did kidnap her he would launch a thousand ships and lead that war to get her back. “And you still have the rest of the day left too, I can’t wait to see what you would do after lunch.” Now they could have fun with this discussing what she could do if she were in Helen’s place. He did still find her more beautiful than Helen was. Amelia was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. “I’m glad she loves me too, I would be so sad had she disliked me.” Though he was the father in her life so that was a plus. Once she returned to his side he took her hand gently in hers. “I do, it sucks leaving her but she will be safe.”

As she taps his nose he scrunches it and laughs. When she speaks about a pajama movie night he grins. “Don’t tempt me or that might be our next date. It would be really fun to have that kind of date. You and I just snuggled up on the couch in our pj’s watching movies all night long.” That would do, they could watch all the classics! Leaning in he lovingly returns her kiss. When she pulls back he sighs not wanting her to go. “I love you too, more than any mortal words can express.” He takes her hand in his once more and starts walking with her. “I think it’s time we start this date with an amazing dinner.”
