She was going to have some fun today! Right now she had a bag with some treats and toys and well she knew her sister would be here today. She’d made it a habit of spying on her and learning when she would be in camp. Not only that but she had enchanted a few weak willed guys in camp to do her bidding and come and tell her when Amelia would be in town and where she was. Just like clock work one had come knocking on her door and informed her that Amelia was in town with Yvette. Finally, she was going to meet her sister and enjoy some time with her.

Once her eyes landed on Amelia she knew why people loved her so much, she was stunning. She reminded her of their mother. Why was her hand shaking a little bit? Maybe because it was her older sister and she wanted to make an impression? No! She was never scared of anything. She was a trained government killer who tortured people for a living. She was a weapon, an emotionless killing machine. Wow, she’d come so far from those days on the base. Her eyes scanned her sister once more and she made her way over towards her. Here we go.

Her pace matched her sisters and she followed her for a while before she decided to move up next to her and slowed back down to her speed. “You know, I never thought I would see you or get to meet you.” Her eyes glance over to her sister and then her niece. “I’ve heard a lot about you and her, I was wondering if you’d join me for lunch so we can talk.” What? She wanted to be blunt right now and well asking her sister to lunch was the best way to get to know her.

Amelia may live in Paris now, but she was still Roman. When someone came up beside her, she whipped the nail file out of one of the pockets of her diaper back and held it out at the ready, ready to file someone’s eyeball out. Then the odd girl spoke and Amelia, now at a dead stop due to presence of potential threat, realized the worst this girl could probably do was give her bad hair advice. She tucked the file away. No sense in innocent eyes like Yvette needing to see that. “Ah, the only of the family who trumps me in bad reputation.” Why was she being so mean? Because she didn’t trust anyone at this camp anymore. This place held bad memories. She missed Gabe, but was sure he hated her by now. Rhia was dead. Everyone else was pretty much on the avoid list. She hadn’t met this one, but she’d heard about her. And purple was a distinguishing color, so Amelia knew exactly who she was talking to. “Right. Enchanted.”

The eyebrows shot straight up at the lunch invite. “What are you getting at?” A torturer wanted to have lunch with her and her daughter. It was one of those moments she did wish Yvette had developed some talent already. Everyone knew Amelia was basically harmless. Her daughter wouldn’t grow up to be, though. She’d see if Chris would teach the little girl how to wield it. And, well, Amelia was good with pepper spray. But at this moment, all she had was ten denarii and that nail file. And if it got physical, she was carrying a diaper bag, which could blunt-force do some damage, but also put Yvette at risk. All in all, not good.

Here she was, her older sister. One she never had the pleasure of meeting before thanks to her long experimentation at the government facility. It was funny how life was for both of them. Here Amelia was, she had everything she wanted in life. She got to be at this camp and be protected. Her parents were both still alive; well her father was mortal so he was probably still alive. She was married and she had a child. On the other side of that cloth was her, she was a government experiment gone wrong or was it gone right? Either way she had a different life than her sister.

Hearing her sister say she was the only one in the family that trumped her in reputation made her smirk. “Not my fault I am who I was made to be. I was made to be a weapon after all. One who would protect her home at all costs.” She had been following orders, orders given to her by her own superiors. She noticed the nail file in her sisters’ hand and she brushed it off. “You can drop your weapon sis, if I wanted to hurt you then I would.” Her eyes wondered over her sister and then her niece and smiled. “Glad you agree. It’s really nice to meet you.”

Now if only her sister will accept her invitation to lunch. “I’m not getting at anything, just the fact I want to have lunch with my sister and niece. Is that so much to ask for? I’m sure you can understand what it’s like in this dreaded place with hardly any friends.” The only friends she really had were those who she could charm speak into being her friends. That actually came in handy from time to time. “Unless you have more important things to do, I could always go off and find some boys to enchant whom can entertain me.” By doing what she asks and having them fight for her. It would be fun to see. Those Mars kids were so fun to toy around with.

This promised to be enthralling. She said something about being who she was made to be. She nodded, agreeing. “Yes, you are a good little freak, aren’t you? Who also appears to aspire for the Barney role in the preschool play.” She moodily stuffed the nail file away. “You already would have, huh? Interesting. Funny how you millennials love to underestimate. Because obviously no one can best you, snowflake.” She waved a hand. “Yvette, dear,” she addressed the child in the buggy, “don’t worry. Mommy will teach you how to use and detect sarcasm properly so you don’t end up like this rejected Skittle with a complex.”

Back to Skittle. She huffed her way through everything the girl said. Then that part about no friends. That hit home. She had a family now, but before then, she was a hated uppity little nasty. No on liked her, including some family. She had to lie through her teeth to her father in the letters just so he still liked her. She was about to reach out to her, to try to say yes, she did know how that felt and no one should have to deal with it. Her mouth half open ready to speak and her hand starting to think about reaching out-

And the girl shut her down with a snap and suggested that she could do her own thing torturing boys, Amelia felt… well, hurt was the best for it. She wondered if anyone had ever reached out to her and she shut them away like this. It stung. They were supposed to be sisters. Odd sisters, but sisters. She straightened, hurt swelling into anger. “Well then, Rhodes, you do what you want. I won’t be your wingwoman in hurting boys, so if you need some honest comradery, you’ll have to prove you actually deserve it.” With that, she turned and went on towards the Cozy Couch for some hot tea and cupcakes to start the visit. If Melody Rhodes honestly wanted to come, it wasn’t hard to track a stroller.

What in the name of Pluto? She was told that her sister was a good and nice person but who was this? She was not the woman that she was told about. Hearing her words was a little killer but she wasn’t going to let it get to her. She’d been treated a lot worse in the facility. Her mind flashed back to the days where they were breaking them down and rebuilding them into who they were now. “You’re right, I’m a good little freak who answers to no one, a little freak who feels no remorse for the people here whom I’ve killed.” She leans in closer and looks into her sisters’ eyes. “Unlike our other siblings who actually lived through the trials I’ve heard of I was made to be a weapon. Not to just look pretty and be there to be the candy on someone’s arm.” She looked to her niece and smirked, her poor niece was going to be in trouble when she got older.

You know, it was about time for her sister to hear how bad she didn’t have it when she was at camp. By the looks of it she at least had friends, people who cared about her. The only friends Melody had were all gone from here. She had no clue what happened but she was alone. She never felt more alone than she did now. Here she was hoping for a little bit of help and caring from her sister. You know, a form of LOVE but apparently she wasn’t going to get it.

It looked like her sister didn’t even care though. She could go through life knowing that there was a Venus daughter here with a worse reputation than her. One who would be the dredge on society and that no one needed to care about. "You’re right MacArthur I didn’t want a wing woman to help me torture boys. I wanted a friend, a sister who I knew would actually be there for me. Someone who would make this place seem less like Tartarus, less like a prison. But you know what, you go do you. I’ll be fine being alone like I always have been. All I wanted was to come here and have a sister a person I could talk to and count on. Looks like love doesn’t run in the family after all.”

She turned on her heel and walked the opposite direction from Amelia. When she saw a boy there she turned on her charmspeak and looked into his eyes. “You love me, you love me so much you want to give me all your money.” She watched as the enchanted boy passed her all the money he had on him. “Thank you, now go forward knowing that no one will love you, no one will ever love you and you’re life is going to be a crushing pit of despair.” She watched as he left broken and she felt it in her heart. Ouch. She hurt. Turning around she made her way back to where Amelia went and walked in behind her. “Could we try and be family? I’m tired of being broken and feeling this pain.” She looked to the ground as she waited.

And the smack-fest began. Even Amelia had not seen this coming. Had she ever been this bad? When the now-mad girl looked at Yvette, Amelia instinctively stood between them. This all just… Amelia’s heart was wrenching in all manner of directions. Every sentence, every word stung more to the point where, by the time her sister turned on her, a tear escaped. Maybe she was right, she said to herself as she trudged the other way. Maybe she was worthless and horrible and the worst person ever. Wouldn’t even help a sister in need.

Then she heard a sweet voice and she wiped her eyes, stopping to turn and watch. Hearing about it was one thing. Seeing it was quite another. She gasped as the defenseless boy handed everything over. Mel’s words, though, they were awful. Then Melody came back to her as the boy, head down, walked off. He looked maybe 13? So impressionable. Melody said something about trying, but Amelia had a priority here. “We can. Come in this way.” She set off with purpose, but not before grabbing Mel’s wrist. “Lesson one from your big sister. How to use your powers. I can’t Charmspeak, but I’ll see what I can do.” She grabbed the money out of her sister’s hand as they approached the young man. “Excuse me, young man!” He looked, curious, then saw Mel and panicked. “Nonsense, we’re here to help. My name is Amelia. This is Melody, and the one in the stroller is Yvette. First of all, here.” She gave the money back into his disbelieving hands. “Here’s what you need to do, okay? There is such a thing as love and I know you’ll find it. Perhaps you already have. Girl you see across the way, but too shy to approach? Thought so. Come here.” She used her fingers to style his hair. “See? Better! Now what do we need?” She tapped her nose, then dug in her pocket and handed him a drachma.

She stood and turned to regard Melody. “Now, sister, say we start that conversation over?” She extended a hand. “I’m Amelia Rose MacArthur. And this little one in the stoller is Yvette. And you must be Miss Melody Rhodes.”

She was hurting, she was hurting bad and her first defense was to lash out, to lash out and make everyone else around her hurt. If she couldn’t be happy and have someone to love then no one could. That was why she lashed out at that boy and took everything that he had on him. Then she crushed him, she crushed him into a deep pit of despair the same pit that she was drowning in right now. Amelia was rejecting her so she would make this boy feel rejected for his whole life. When she walked back over to Amelia. She wanted her family in her life but this was just hard on her. Amelia rejected her. “I really wish to Amelia, I want family around.” She looks at her and nods. “Okay, I’m coming.”

As her sister leads her back to the boy she frowns when the money was taken from her and sighs. Great all the work she did was about to be undone by her sister. She listened to her and watched how she was changing this boy’s life. If only her charmspeak would stick with him but she was doing a lot better. Somehow hope was a good thing and making someone feel good was good for them. She watched his eyes light up and she sighs. Great, she really was a bad person.

When Amelia turned around and spoke she nodded and kept her eyes on the ground. She really was a disgrace. She had hurt a lot of innocent people and she wanted to change. She swore to destroy this place but that was going to be impossible now. She takes Amelia’s hand and shakes it gently. “It’s nice to meet you Amelia and Yvette, I’m Melody.” Her eyes look up into hers and she gives her a warm smile. “She’s so cute, it’s nice to meet her.” Now maybe she could start changing her life.

Amelia finished what she thought to herself as an improvement on the day as the boy stumbled off, excited about this new lot in life.

Then she saw Melody.

It was obvious Amelia’s encouraging of the boy had crushed her sister. She didn’t know what to do. She’d never encountered kindness as a weapon, or at least anyone who viewed it as such. She knelt down so she could look up into the downtrodden girl’s eyes and tried to tease. “I’m taller than you, Melody. And I would love to see those stunning eyes of yours.” She straightened and attempted the introduction again. Melody seemed totally off kilter as she shook her hand. Though, as usual, small children brought out the best in most people by simple need to talk about them. Amelia took it and ran with it. “You know… it’s a little scary. She’s going to be a lot more powerful than I’m ready for. Just my luck, she’d be one of those blessed with the gift of Charmspeak. Wish I had someone skilled in it to coach her. And I was never good at changing my appearance. I hear a few here are, though. She will need a lot of help I’m just not experienced in.” She let her voice drift off wistfully, then glanced at Melody and winked.

She took a deep breath. “Listen. I’m sorry I was a bitch to you. And I’m sorry for hurting you just a moment ago too, I promise it wasn’t intended. I’ve never been a big sister before. No one would ever claim me as family. I was about as popular as mud. That’s why I don’t trust anyone here. I’m… well, okay, I’m afraid. I’ve changed, but none of them know that. I’ve got plenty of people who would probably line up to choke me to death without regard to orphaning a little girl. And that scares me. Not for me, but for her.” She looked down at Yvette. “She would be here with nothing but her mother’s corpse as company. Who would help her?” She let out a long breath and looked back to Melody. “So that’s why I pulled a nail file on you. I’m just a paranoid mom. But… I’d really like a sister.”

Everything she’d been taught, everything she had learned to do was coming undone by her sister here. She was giving this boy hope and not soul crushing despair. What she loved doing was crushing their souls until there was nothing left and they just wanted to end it all, that’s what she had been trained to do, that’s what she knew she wanted to do in life. She wanted to crush people’s hopes and dreams and their love for life. When Amelia knelt down and looked up into her eyes she looked back. A small smile came to her lips. “You would really want to? No one’s ever wanted to looks me in the eyes before, well except my friends.” But they were all off doing their own thing. She stood up straight and looked up to her sister. Things could be different; there could be a better life for her here.

When she started speaking of Yvette and she didn’t know if she could use Charmspeak her eyes widened. “Wait, you can’t charmspeak? I thought that was a common gift our mother passed to us. Well you are also the only sibling of our mother I’ve ever met so yeah. But if you need help I am more than willing to help.” She grins and shakes her head. “Please, you’re stunningly beautiful. Any man you marry will be very happy to have you. You’ve no need to ever change your appearance at all.” Her sister was beautiful and she was actually in awe over her beauty.

Then she listened, she listened to every word her older sister was saying and she couldn’t help but feel the rage and anger boiling up in her blood. Why in the name of Venus would they treat her sister so badly? Who would dare have the audacity to do that? Let alone who would dare try and kill her sister. Oh she was going to have some words if she ran into someone talking smack about her sister. “I would never let anyone harm you Amelia. You’re the only family I have and I will not let that happen. If they want to kill you they’re going to live their lives depressed and in despair.” She walks over to her sister and hugs her. Yes she hugs her, she actually needed this. In her whole life she’d never actually felt love from anyone but maybe this could be a first?

I'll try to reply, but Amelia muse is low and too much has changed since this thread, so it is difficult to get back into the mindset.
