Kit was doing a very unusual ‘training’ of her own. She was in the part of the Field of Mars with the dummies here and there and, in her hand, a bunch of darts. The sun was beating down with a few clouds in the sky, but not enough to cool it down. So Kit was wearing shorts and a tank and sandals. Not really something you saw in formal training, but then again, neither were the darts.
She stretched her arms high in the air and let them fall to her sides, flexing her shoulders. She switched one from the bunch of darts to her dominant hand and took aim. Stretch one. Stretch two. Throw. With the tiniest of thunks and a spit of dust from the straw stuffing, the dart imbedded itself in the dummy’s face and Kit grinned. It vaguely thought of how if this were one of those cool cartoons, then she would do a perfect game and make a smiley face of darts on the dummy’s face. The thought made her snicker. She’d try, for what it was worth.
She tossed the second dart and it landed in just such a way as to make the perfect smiley face already impossible. She shrugged for no one to see and smiled all the same. She was having fun and that was what mattered. The third dart hit the nose. Four darts left.
Thunk. Thunk. Thunk. Thunk. Only one did not hit the face, but would be very uncomfortable if the dummy were alive, as that looked awful close to the jugular. Kit smacked her hands together in a satisfied manner and marched to the dummy to pull her darts free.
