Somnus stands at 5'9” tall and is rather slender in build. His skin is pale and his hair is dark in color. It's of medium length, curls at the bottom and he keeps it slicked back and out of his face. He has cold and calculating blue eyes that seem to stare right through someone. People have a hard time focusing on his face and from the waist down he is ethereal, meaning you can see through his legs. Though when he feels like it, he can make his entire form look like a mirage or a dream. He appears to be in his late 20's or early 30's in his mortal form. He has a slender face, pointed chin and high cheek bones to accent his pale skin. His ears are slightly pointed (more rounded but still) and he has a rather elfin like look to his face. Somnus tends to have a rather malicious twinkel in his eyes that are full of mischief. Not the fun kind like Mercury has, but and evil glint to them.
Somnus tends to wear nice clothes, button downed shirts, nice slacks and supple leather boots. He takes care of his things just as he would his children. He tends to favor earthen tones in colors, prefering to wear muted greens and browns and black. He doesn't even cast a shadow even in the times of the longest shadows.

Somnia, the god of dreams, is a bit cold and calculating. Most consider his personality to be abrasive and somewhat rude. When he speaks, he comes off as a well read and well spoken man. His tone tends to be condescending and patronizing. He carries himself as if he owns the world. He is rather egotistical and thinks highly of himself. He is a showman and likes to put on a show. He loves toying with the dreams of demi-gods and won't hesitate to broadcast the exceptionally juicy dreams depending on whether or not he likes Venus that day or feels like prodding a hornets nest with a baseball bat. He's a bit of an instigator, his father says that he gets it from his aunt. He's also a bit whiny, he likes to complain to anyone who will listen about how unfair people are towards his children.
He has very few children, those that he does have, he cares for dearly. He is quick to claim them and for the most part, likes to flaunt his obvious disregard for the rules that Jupiter has set. He feels no kin to the king of the gods and has a touch of contempt towards the rules. Somnia tends to do his own things regardless of what others do. He sided with Saturn in the previous war and has decided to do it again for laughs and giggles. Though he would never admit to it out loud, he believes deeply in Saturns ideals and values. While he likes to instigate things amongst mortals and demi-gods, he would never kick that proverbial hornet's nest that is the gods. Somnia likes to be a few steps ahead of everyone else.
Some people consider Somnia to be a sociopath. People like him and he functions well in society. HE is very controlled in every thing he does and he says. He has a motive of revenge and nothing is done without being thought through. Despite that it seems that he acts on a whim, nothing is done without reason. But he does love certain people, his children and their mothers, and he cares but doesn't tend to show it outwardly. He'd rather not place people in horrible situations just because he showed someone that he cared. He strongly believes that sometimes the best way to protect the people you care about is to be distant from them.

Dream Manipulation: Somnia can manipulate dreams. He can also appear in them in any form he chooses. He likes to manipulate the dreams of others to freak them out or make them happy, depending on his mood. He can convey messages and even walk through dreams to get from one place to the next. This includes day dreams, Nightmares/terrors (his personal favorites) and fantasizing.
Sleep: Because his father is associated with sleep, Somnia can put people to sleep, but for the most part it's limited to mortals and minor demi-gods and legacies. He can walk past mortals and they fall asleep but wake up as if nothing happened. His powers in hypnokenesis are no where near as strong as his fathers, but like his father, he tends to look down upon those who fall asleep at his post. Mostly it ends up in a death.
Subconscious: Being known as the lord of the Subconcious, Somnia can pick up on things that otherwise would go un-noticed by most other people. Most times he ignores it unless it's too juicy to not pick up on. Mostly he gets flashes but because of this, he's the one that sends prophetic dreams. He tends to have a limited bit of foresight, no where near as much as that blowhard Apollo has, but enough to send a dream that says “hey pay attention, something is up you moron.”

Born the eldest of the three triplets, Somnia was designated the lord of Dreams. While his two younger brothers were also born of dreams, he is the most recognized. He was always spoiled by his Uncle, Mors. Somnia always favored Mors the most out of his family, though he was a little similar in temperament to his aunt, Discordia. When he was fairly new and born, Somnia was spoiled by his uncle. Somnia absolutely loves Mors. He would do anything for his uncle and it was from his uncle that he received his love of family. He never really got along with his brothers, as he was the most popular of the three. From an early age, his arrogance and egotistical personality was fueled by the fact that he was so popular with people as opposed to his brothers. They didn't much like him, but what did Somnia care? He was the obvious favorite one.
The middle ages were a particular favored time for Somnia. He truly enjoied harassing people, giving them falsely prophetic dreams and watching people run off on crazy crusades just to get themselves killed. It was always much more fun to mess with the males then it was the females. Somnia loved to mess with royalty. They were especially fun, killing people on a whim that he planted a paranoid dream in the minds of mad men. Fields razed and entire villages decimated all on a mere whim, those were things that Somnia took a good bit of malicious glee in.
Through out the era of colonization, Somnia played a big role in planting ideas into the heads of people that they needed to be free and needed to do their own thing. Wars and more chaos in the minds of a few of the great british leaders were always a fun past time. It tended to give him time to spend with his favorite aunt. The civil war was another time of dreams and fun. He loved planting the seeds of paranoia and the thought of total conquest in the minds of leaders of the southern people. Of course as per usual, he enjoied being like his father and taking lives of those who dosed off. He was always involved in the dreams and minds of people in war. As being Roman, he was always more disciplined and militaristic like. While he always had a tendancy to side with the gods at this particular point in time, Somnia always backed his children. Family is always something that was important to him.
When the first and second world wars came along, Somnia was a bit more present amongst the sons of Pluto that decided it would be a good idea to start the world wars amongst the other big three children. It was actually quite easy to plant the ideas of grandeur and supplement their egotistical ends. If it was the hopeless dream of soldiers returning to war or even delusional dreams of peace by rather strong ends, Somnia was quick to torment mortals by becoming the things their heart desired most. The very things that they could never hope to have once more.
During the first Titan war, Somnia sided with the titans. He truly believed that the olympians were petty and disgusting creatures. He hated that demi-gods had to prove that they were worthy of their parents attention. Somnia believed that no matter what a child was like, they deserved love and affection. He sided with saturn to put those petty olympians in their place. They needed to recognize their children, that his children deserved recognition. He put the entirety of New York city to sleep while he was in his greek form, he even sided with saturn as roman, fighting against the gods. After loosing the battle, Somnia was chastized but just bides his time by doing his job and waiting for the chance to strike back and get his revenge against the olympians. His moves now are always calculated and he makes sure that he plots and schemes for at least seven moves ahead of his opponant. He will wait and watch from his distance to make sure his moves will be well received. [/blockquote]
