Name ;; Ryan Joseph Ruckshack
Nickname(s) ;; Ry, RyRy, Bubbles, Du-Dunce (from a deliberate mispronunciation of duduk), anything else you come up with
Age ;; 15
Birthday ;; October 20
Gender ;; Male
Species ;; Demi-God
Immortal Parent ;; Ceres
Years at Camp ;; 5
Celebrity Claim ;; Connor Jessup
Appearance ;; Ryan stands at height 5'7". He has short, dirty blonde hair is either slightly spiked, or slightly flopped over in the front. He does little to style it and just lets it fall where it wants. He has rather expressive, hazel eyes. Ryan isn't good at hiding emotions at all, so almost anyone can tell how he's feeling by simply looking at him. That said, he isn't good at poker-facing, and his facial expressions are anything but menacing (for the majority of the time).
He wears things that are functional, comfortable, and easily cleanable (since they accumulate dirt and dust daily). Outside of training, Ry wears the purple camp t-shirt, or an earthy-colored shirt with either sweatpants or jeans. He has a few imperfections, particularly a scar along the calf of his right leg from a training session gone horribly wrong. Along with the traditional, initiative scarring of a Roman solider, Ryan also has the infamous SPQR, as all others do, along with five bars, and the symbol of Ceres on his arm.
Weapon wise, Ryan carries throwing daggers and a sickle. He carries them during training hours, but when going into the forest, or on his rounds to look after the vegetation, he leaves them in his barrack. He is always seen carrying around a staff. It has a vine carved into it, wrapping its way around the wood, and then a real life vine wrapped onto it in the opposite way (made by a surly Vulcan kid during his first week of Camp). Ryan usually just uses it as a walking stick, but he can use it in defense if needed.
Personality ;; Ryan does not like fighting. He's a peaceful son of Ceres and would much rather play his duduk, heal people, and grow plants than go to train or fight (physically and/or verbally). He's not the best weapons fighter and he knows it all to well; he never will be either since he dislikes it. His fighting/life style is more passive defensive than aggressive offensive. Ryan promotes life, and tries to fight without harming the earth (or the person) too badly, if at all. Despite his dislike of fighting though, he has been able to master fighting with a sickle, staff, and throwing knives in order to survive at Camp. He only trains when he needs to aka its in his schedule. Outside of training, he enjoys having fun, growing/healing plants, finding friends, reading, playing his duduk, and learning how to heal, along with many other miscellaneous activities. He doesn't stick around the training grounds for "fun" or "extra practice". Once his training time is up, he strips his armor, and is walking as fast as he can in the opposite direction. Most likely towards other people, the forest, the infirmary, or to a plant. Because of his hyper activeness and somewhat lack of friends in the mortal world, Ryan knows how to occupy himself well: cooking, baking, drawing, making origami, learning how to juggle, listening audio books and music, reading books, exploring, hiking, playing his duduk and participating in events, tending to plants, and many other random activities. Even though he prefers being around people, he's comfortable being alone and likes standing by the side lines and observing others on occasion. His good observation skills, along with his liking/interest of people have led him to being able to "read" people by their body language, facial expression, and tone of voice.
Soft and kind by nature, the Roman camp has done little to harden his natural state (although he did try to toughen up at one point, he failed/couldn't since he felt too mean). He has a big heart, and tries to look out for nearly everyone, since considers all of them as his family. To the stranger or friend, Ryan is kind, polite, sociable, optimistic, modest, and light. He's always there to offer a smile to anyone; he can be as crazy and hyper as a five year old on a sugar high at times. He loves hugs, cooking, and looking at all the small details of nature. People outside of camp would never think that he could be dangerous with (or even own) knives or a sickle. From his love of reading, Ryan loves (and has memorized) many types of books, movies, poems, and songs. He'll use anything if he cannot find words of his own, anything to get his point across. He is actually very smart and did rather well, academically, in school. Going with her son of the goddess of agriculture roots, Ryan loves plants, and the earth. Even though he's become superb at using his powers of plant manipulation, he believes that he still has a lot to learn; he's been doing it ever since she was little, even if he'd never been aware of it. Ryan, if he could during training, would use plants, and plants alone to fight. But now, since blades have been semi etched into him, he would probably use a combination of knife/sickle, and plants if confronted with a real life threat (other than camp squabbles).
Despite his kindness exterior, Ryan's far from a saint. He can be overly trusting and even naive to an extent. Even though he knows that there's no point in trying to become friends with everyone, or try to please people in this sort of Camp, he still tries to be the kindest he can be. He's going to be himself: random, independent, crazy, and peaceful, and no one is going to tell him otherwise. Even though he tries to stay on people's good side and tries to be friendly, he knows that it's near impossible for everyone to have a liking for each other, especially here. He also knows that people won't like him, but he doesn't care. It's not all about him. It's not a popularity contest. It's about the camp. He strongly believes in second chances (or three, or four, or more...), to a fault. He believes in the gods and that there is goodness in everyone. They all must support eachother since they are a unified camp, even if they don't act like it sometimes.
Powers ;; Chlorokinesis :: Ryan has the ability to manipulate wood, plants, flowers, and fruits. He is still trying to perfect and learn different techniques. For pre-existing plants, they must be within 5 yards of him. He can cause multiple plants to grow up from the ground (they only grow a yard or closer to him). He is able to use plants as a weapons by projecting thorns, releasing poisons/toxins, or tripping/whipping his opponents with vines or by tying them up. To execute the action, Ryan must envision what he wants to happen. However, if he panics, he looses control of the power (as seen via three wrecked houses). Currently, he is working on perfecting on how to grow a bridge or climbable platform out of plants that will support his weight.
Knowledge of plants :: Ryan has an innate knack for identifying well known, local plants and their uses just by looking at them. For rarer/exotic plants he must look up their uses, but can get its name/a vauge idea of them if he touches them.
Help plants grow/heal :: Ryan has the ability to encourage a plant to grow or to revive a dying/dead plant. He most commonly does this by either touching it the plant and manipulating its DNA or by singing/duduk playing within a few feet of it.
Cooking/Baking :: Like all other Ceres children, he has a certain affinity for it and can do so with ease. He does like to experiment however, so... make sure that there's a smoke alarm and fire extinguisher close at hand.
Bubble Blowing/Duduk Playing/Juggling/Unicycling :: Okay, not powers, but odd things that he can do pretty well.

Family ;;
- Matthew "Matt" Ruckshack :: Father
- Ceres :: Biological Mother
- Elisa Wittmann :: Adopted Mother
- Tumnus :: His duduk
History ;; Matthew Ruckshack liked to keep busy; coming from a true "american dream" family, he was an entrepreneur and businessman with a passion for plants. He had a passion so deep that he made it his life work: from the ground up, matt built an entirely self made, annual, garden shop which he named Full Moon Bloom (FMB for short). He did everything himself: growing, buying, arranging, tending, selling, the whole nine yards. He usually ended up staying up late nights to get all the work done. Matt was unshakably passionate and dedicated to his shop; he truly loved what he did, even if he had little to show for it. Then again, he liked working hard for his money. His shop was a small place off the beaten path, but the costumers he did have would always come back, hopefully with a few friends and more business.
It was just before his busy holiday season that he met her: Ceres. She had been attracted by all the well kept plants, the tightly run business managed with precision, the natural remedies, his determination to keep a single bush from dying. When she came into the shop, he, of course, noticed her. It was actually quite hard to miss her: she was rather attractive... The night after she came, Matt noticed that one of his dying bushes had healed "miraculously". It was a curious thing to him, and he started wondering about it, but his curiosities would soon be satisfied. Day after day, the lovely woman kept coming back. Matt soon took note, and he started watching her. Every time she passed, nearly all the flowers seemed to perk up, healthier than before. Then, one day, he asked her if she would like a job, since she seemed so good with the plants. She said no, so he plucked up his courage, and bluntly asked her if she would like to go out. She agreed to that offer instead. One thing lead to another and, months later Ceres left a child on his door step. Matt was semi clueless on what to do, but he did his best: juggling a child and his business. Matt brought his son to work with him often, but little did he notice Ryan sprouting baby daisies in the cracks, or healing plants like his mother had once done. For the most of his pre-Legion his life, Ryan would come to the shop with Matthew every summer; once he got old enough, he would help during the summer months and for two hours a day after school.
As any child did, Ryan grew: bullies in school, ADHD, dyslexia, the whole nine yards of grief that he got from being a demigod child in a mortal world. Right before Ryan turned two, Matthew realized he couldn't carry on the way he was. It was either his son or his business. Luckily, he was spared the decision. He started to get romantically involved with an annual customer. Elisa started turning Matt's life around. She showed him that family and human attachment was just as equally important as his business. Two years later, they walked down the aisle with Ryan as the ring bearer. He grew up in a supporting, loving environment; his parents nurtured his independence and interest in the most abnormal things, such as blowing bubbles. However, at school, he was marked as a troublesome child: he could never sit still, he was always getting into something, and at times, he would never shut up. Ryan never really got many friends in school, mainly because he was either too hyper, too random, too talkative, or just too weird. Instead of playing with action figures like all the other boys, he'd rather fidget infront of the class room window and literally watch the plants grow, humming to them. He said they liked it, he said it helped them grow. Despite his somewhat lack of friends, Ryan enjoyed school; he enjoyed learning and reading, even though his dyslexia and ADHD would sometimes get in the way. On the whole though, he was a good student. Sure, he needed a refocus every now and again, and extended time for reading, but other than that, he was like any other normal school boy. Normal, except for the blood running through his veins, which made him anything but normal.
On Ryan's sixth birthday, a monster decided to attack him on his school playground. That day, everyone saw the usually peaceful (yet very hyperactive) Ryan Ruckshack single handedly strangle an older student with a vine that seemingly came from no where. He got expelled for that, even though he had never had any other record of violent behavior. On the contrary, he was one of the sweetest children in the school; weird and talkative, sure, but very nice. However, he caused the student to "die" and therefore, the administration could not overlook it. Ry's expulsion initiated a move to a different school, something his parents were less than happy about. Matt signed Ryan up for a sports camp, every day after school, trying to get his son some focus and disciple (he didn't believe "the monster wanted to eat me" story) and hoping to burn out some of his son's boundless energy. Needless the say, the plan backfired. Ryan did fine in the sports and did his best to concentrate, but his focuses still bounced all over the place; it also didn't help him click with any of this new class/camp mates. Later that year, Ryan went to a concert with his parents and fell in love with one of the sound of the instruments. It was an Armenian wind instrument called the duduk. After plucking up his courage and asking his parents for a late birthday present, Matthew was able to buy one; once again, it was in the hopes that Ryan could channel his energy into something other than getting into trouble that seemed to endlessly follow him. At first, it was Matt's full intention to leave Ryan to his own devices on learning how to play the instrument, but Elisa stepped in and convinced Matt to find a teacher. For the rest of his time with his parents, Ryan continued with the instrument. He even found lessons on Youtube, various fingering charts, and duduk sheet music online. Now, even though he's still learning, he's gotten rather good with the instrument.
At age eight, Ryan brought someone over his house for a play date. Elisa was overjoyed; it seemed like it was the first person that Ryan seemed to click with. However, it was too good to be true. Five minutes into the play date Ryan freaked out and grew something equivalent to jack's bean stalk through the basement and living room. On top of that, Elisa had to call 911 since Ryan's "friend" got rendered unconscious and had what seemed like poison ivy all over him (although he mysteriously "disappeared" before the ambulance got there). When asked what happened, Ryan reported that another fairy with sharp teeth had wanted to eat him. That was the day Matt and Elisa finally started to realize that their son could do... certain things. Matt ignored it, wanting to keep his life as stable as possible. However, Elisa was intrigued and began studying Ryan more closely; whenever he went to the shop, she took close notice of him whenever he was around the plants. Soon, she began to notice the things that Matt had decided to ignore for the past eight years: flowers perking up whenever Ryan passed by. The Ruckshacks got the floor(s) repaired, and Elisa went to Matthew with her observations. He vaguely agreed, but ultimately wrote them off as nothing.
Too soon for comfort, nearly one year later, Ryan got yet another monster following him. Once again, he freaked out and ran inside his repaired house, only to get it half destroyed (again) from the fight that ensued. That night, Matt came home to a cut up, bandaged, and bruised Ryan, and a house with half a tree growing underneath it. Ryan, despite his mother's protests along the lines of "he surely can't control it, there must be an explanation", got grounded again, and Matt continued to get more irritable with his son. This time the damage was unrepairable and they had to move. Ryan shied away from his father for a few months after that, since all he would get from him were glares. He bonded closer and closer to Elisa, who seemed to forgive him much quicker. She also noticed that Ryan had a knack for cooking and banking. She started to involve him in baking for charity and making dinner for the family. Ryan continued to be somewhat friendless, but he didn't mind. He had his mother and father, and that's all he needed at the time.
Then, the inevitable happened Matt got a dream telling him to bring Ry to a special camp. He talked the situation over with Elisa and prayed that Ryan wouldn't destroy the new house within the next few months. Then, the day came that Matt had to explain the situation to Ryan: this camp was going to keep him safe (and keep the Ruckshack's new house from getting destroyed). A month before he turned ten, nine year old Ryan Ruckshack got dropped off at the Wolf House. It was fair to say he was beyond terrified. It was a wolf pack. Sure, they looked cool in movies, but horribly scary in real life. It took a while, and to this day, he had no idea what Lupa saw (he certainly doesn't see anything himself, everyone at camp seems so much better than him), but he got admitted into Camp Jupiter and the Probie name plate. From that day froward, Ryan tried to settle himself into Legion life and tried to grasp onto everything that everyone is telling him about... well, everything. At first terribly homesick (mostly for his mother), he soon got swept up in Legion life and became full of wonder for the place (still is). After a few weeks, he came around and accepted all of it as true; it certainly explained everything that had happened to him... Eventually, he got sorted into a cohort, although with no real experience, outrageously brave deeds, love for fighting, or references it was kinda hard...
The training and strictness has been a bit hard on him, but he hasn't strayed far from his personality from when he first stepped foot into Camp. He's had to suck up his dislike of violence, but this being the Legion, he had near to no choice. He is still trying to develop his full powers of plant manipulation and healing. Since he doesn't like weapons fighting that much (if at all), he is trying to turn his plant manipulation into a style of fighting. He's also had to learn (out of necessity) how to combat hand/hand (he hates/fails at it), knife throw, fight with a sickle (both which he's pretty decent with yet he still doesn't like it), and sword fight (which he's not as good at). Ryan also enjoys hanging out with the Apollo kids in the infirmary in his free time; he wants to be more of a healer than a fighter.
Nearly two year later, the Camp got engaged in the battle of Mt. Orthys. Ryan helped where he could: grew confusing forests, tied enemies up with vines, every passive aggressive/defensive thing he could think about doing. Then, he got injured and landed in the infirmary. Once he kind of healed, Ryan managed to persuade one of the Apollo kids to let him stay there to help with the healing instead of the fighting. Mt. Orthy shook Ryan up a bit and has just led him to dislike fighting even more than before. He saw his share of horrors that night; they still haunt him. All he can do is hope that he'll never have to live though it again.
Even though there had been a lot of suspicion about his parent, Ryan didn't get officially claimed until his thirteenth birthday, right on the dime. He's still trying to be optimistic and hoping that Camp will live in peace; however, with the quest team gone, and tensions on the rise, he doesn't see his optimal situation happening...
