Appearance ;;
Kaylee has dark brown hair with a few lighter streaks that reaches down nearly to her lower back. Usually it has a gentle wave to it as well. It’s sort of a toss-up how she will style it any given day. For training, it’s always a ponytail or bun, but for everyday activities, she usually just lets it hang. Her eyes are a chocolaty brown and usually reflect her mood all too clearly. Like her mothers’ they can sometimes seem like she’s seen the world, both the greatest joys and the most horrible sadness. Her complexion is on the palish side and her face is rounded. Her form is thin and not that muscular and she stands a mere 5 foot 5 inches tall. She is still a good fighter though and can hold her own in battle, though maybe not as well as some other demigods and legacies. She is more about the mental side of things (see personality).
For clothes, Kaylee usually doesn’t care much about what she throws on. So usually it’s just shorts, her camp shirt, light armor, and sneakers. She never has been one for dressing up for any reason, so catching her in anything even remotely formal means something is definitely out of the ordinary.
Personality ;;
Kaylee is a piece of work. She is every bit her mother’s child. She is all about knowing things over simply being able to do them. Which is helped a good deal by her great memory. She knows a lot and is not afraid to let others know that she does. In her opinion, she knows better than anyone. She has a bit of a pride issue, as one could probably guess. She believes that knowledge comes above fighting and without knowledge fighting is worthless and destined to fail.
To those she is close too, which isn’t many, she can be quite nice though. She will stand up for her friends til it kills her and do anything for them. She does have her share of flaws (besides the pride part) though. She covers up her insecurity with trying to be smarter than anyone else. She doesn’t feel like she belongs well with all the major god kids, her mother being so obscure that most don’t even know her name. And with her family history, she is shaky in relationships of any kind. Though she wishes she was better at making friends, she naturally tends to push people away, assuming things about them as far as what they think, how they act, and their opinions on things and on her. She is determined to make something of herself though, no matter how steep the challenge to do so is. She’s not really sure how to go about it, as she’s not even sure what the goal is in detail, but she is determined to get to it. She will fight tooth and nail to win arguments to prove herself better and hates losing or admitting she doesn’t know something. She loves being in the right to the point where she will sometimes step on other people’s feet to get to it. And she is known for her sharp tongue, especially when angry or feeling threatened.
Powers ;;
As a child of Moneta, a minor goddess who is already in the process of fading as many people have forgotten her (how’s that for irony), Kaylee doesn’t have a whole lot of extraordinary powers. Her main claim to abilities would be her photographic and near precise memory. When she’s paying attention, she remembers anything she sees or hears. She can remember things from years back if asked to recall. Which is also something of a curse because it means that she remembers unpleasant things like the Battle of Orthys like it was just yesterday and is often revisited by these memories.
Family ;;
Moneta – mother, goddess of memory
Aksel Hansen – father
Dorthe Hansen – step mother
Amanda Hansen – step-sister (older)
History ;;
Aksel and Dorthe Hansen moved from Denmark shortly after marrying, a young couple in search of adventure. And New York City was certainly an adventure. The city was so vastly different from their old home, but they loved the vibrant life there. Though they couldn’t afford high living in the city, it was convenient for Aksel’s job as a project manager of a defense firm there in the city. And Dorthe worked as a housemaid until she became pregnant with their first child and had to drop out of work to be a stay at home mom as they had no family there and couldn’t afford help. Amanda was born in August and the little family couldn’t be happier. Until two years later when Aksel was on a business trip. There he met a woman with odd eyes, haunted seeming with both the greatest joys and the deepest sorrows of life. He was fascinated with her. And though he had no memory of the event, he learned nine months later that he had slept with her, given that an infant arrived on their doorstep in New York.
Fights broke out in the family, nearly driving to divorce had it not been for a close family friend and neighbor helping them to counseling. All the same Kaylee was never treated with the reverence her sister was given. She was an extra mouth to feed. And extra body to dress. And extra unwanted thing. She did her sister’s share of chores and helped around the house while her sister was treated like the true daughter. Being the child of a minor goddess as she was, she thankfully didn’t attract many monsters. But that didn’t make things easier for her. Her ADHD and dyslexia made school difficult and she saw strange things sometimes that her parents waved off as her being crazy. Though when her father received a letter when she was about 9 from her mother explaining who she was and who Kaylee was and where she would have to go, he booked a flight to San Francisco immediately and was happy to drop her off himself. There weren’t any tears shed. Her father was glad to be rid of her and she knew better than to hope otherwise.
She barely made it at Lupa’s judgment at the Wolf House. However, she did show signs of using her gift for memory towards strategy and battle tactics, as well as other means to get to a victory, which did impress the wolves. So she was sent to Camp Jupiter with good word. She made it by the skin of her teeth thanks to a very determined draconae that nearly killed her before she could get to the boundary. Her years there were uneventful, just trying to make a name for herself in a place she felt horribly out of place in. Then again, she’d felt out of place all her life, so she really wasn’t sure what her place was to start with. That became her goal in life too. She worked towards it. Though this was put on pause in the Titan War. She fought hard in the Battle of Orthys, but was badly injured and, like many others, spent a good week in the infirmary afterwords. Though she had at least helped some with her prior studying of the Titans and the first Titan War. Now, two years later, she is back on her old track, seeking herself while trying to just finish her term in the camp.
