August: *He had wandered into the woods to ensure no one found him and taken a seat on the ground. To top it off, he was doing a very unRoman thing: crying…*
Janus: *standing amid the trees unseen, tossing his key from hand to hand for a few minutes before pocketing it and stepping forward, his normal two faced not veiled in the Mist*
Janus (Right face): August Mitchell…
Janus (Left face): *smirks*
August: *looks up, hurriedly wiping his eyes, then stops short* J-janus… sir.
R: Indeed. We heard that you were in a bit of a bind and might need our help with a big decision.
L: And no need to fear, no one else knows we’re out here.
August: I don’t know what you’re talking about. *stubbornly*
L” Oh, but you do, I believe. Else why would you be out here thinking so hard on it?
August *looks away from them* Just leave me alone.
R: We could. But we’d hardly be doing our job if we did. So let’s talk.
L: After all… *smirks* Who else do you have to talk to, hmm?
August: *he didn’t want to admit that Janus was right…he was alone. In more ways than one* I-… I guess.
R: Good!
Janus *pulls up two chairs from nothing* Sit. *speaks in unison*
August: *gets up off the ground and takes a seat on the chair* Thanks…
R: Not that I don’t already know, but let’s start with… what’s troubling you?
L: Why don’t we just tell him?
R: Shh. Admitting something is the first step.
L: *makes a face*
August: It’s complicated…
R: And we’re patient. So go ahead.
August: It’s… *takes a deep breath* Julia. I love her… I think. And I don’t want to hurt her. But I’m not good for her. I tried to tell her that, but… it just sort of escalated out of control. She took the discord out of me and nearly killed herself in the process and then her mom… basically threatened me if I ever hurt her again. But I didn’t mean to hurt her! I didn’t know what she was doing! And now… now I can’t talk to her about my fears and worries in case I hurt her again because it will be the end of both of us…
R *taps his chin* Interesting. So then you’re stuck in something you don’t think you are fit to do.
August: Pretty much. So I don’t know why you’re here. I already know the answer.
L: And what might that be?
August: I have to stay with her. There is no other choice. It would kill both of us mentally if I didn’t.
R: There are always choices, young man.
L: Just don’t make the wrong choice of the consequences could be horrible. *smiles*
August: I know that! That’s exactly why I have to do this!
R: Calm down. Think about what you’re doing.
August *looks away* I don’t have a choice. I can’t hurt her again. She deserves that much. Plus, my own sanity is on the line. Though I don’t think I’ll be sane either way…
L: Right! You’re losing your mind either way!
August *cuts in*I have to do it. I will do it.
R *a little sadly* Even if you have to mask your true self…
August: Even then.
Janus *stands up and his chair vanishes into the Mist*
R: Then I’m sure we will meet again.
Janus *in unison* Good luck. *takes out his key and inserts it into the air and opens a door in the air, stepping through and vanishing*
August *buries his face in his hands and uses the darkness to think, sitting there alone for a long time after. When he finally rose nearly an hour later, the chair vanished and he walked slowly back to camp*
