It had been a few days since Mattie decided to bang on the door of Felicitys apartment to get Remus's attention. True, while she had a good reason for doing so Felicity also could hear the hate the young daughter of Mars held for her. And now Felicity figured she should do something about it. She knew that Remus cherished his little sister and to always see her disdain about his choice of person to be with must be hurting him. The least Felicity could do was try to come to resolution with his rambunctious sister. It's not like Felicity hadn't dealt with her before. She was Matties former centurion. She remembered when the little girl first joined into the ranks and how much she hated her placement but then eventually working with the rest of the cohort as a team but wow, did she argue back if she didn't like a strategy Felicity proposed. They always seemed to be arguing.
Felicity had previously looked up what the fourths schedule was for the day and saw they had a two hour break between practice and dinner. Perfect opportunity. She made her way down the familiar path to the fourths barracks and knocked before entering. And just as she figured, the daughter of Mars was in there alone and of course was meeting her with daggers for eyes. "You're not welcome here. Leave" Matilda Blair venomously said to the daughter of Pluto. Felicity sighed. "No, I'm not leaving. Not until we discuss your problem with me and try to resolve it."
"I don't want to resolve it. So you're just going to die standing there." Mattie said as she leaned back in her bunk and went back to reading her book. Felicity watched her for a moment, choosing her words carefully. "You care about your family. I know you do. What you're doing right now, it's hurting Remus." And as well as Felicity thought she choose her words she was still met by a glare from the younger girl. "Yeah, well it's nothing compared to how bad you'll probably end up hurting him again. Just wait, I'll be right." This time it was Feliticys turn to narrow her eyes. Unfortunately, she had been the adult and couldn't just fight back with her own words. That would only make things worse. "I've changed. Yes I know I was an idiot before and took advantage of him and hurt him though it never was my intention. But, look, I love him. I really do. I would do anything for him. Even try to befriend his little sister who hates me but who I had to teach a proper stance for fighting with a sword rather than a gladius." Felicity said with a smirk as the daughter of Mars face went red at the memory of the one time she couldn't quite get a handle on a weapon right away. "That's not fair! You said-" "I haven't told anyone. I keep my promises. And I made a promise to Remus, that I wouldn't leave him again and that I'll try my hardest to never hurt him again." Felicity said as she watched Mattie put her book down and cross her arms. No doubt trying to think of an argument against Felicity.
"Eve actually loves him. She never did something stupid to hurt him." Mattie said, half muttered, causing Felicity to sigh. "No, you're right. She only lied to him for years about her real reason for being here and then helped to kidnap people. You were taken too, you know how horrible those people and that place was. Those were the people Eve was working for. Don't you think when Remus found out he was pretty hurt?" "Says the girl who helped raise Saturn and accidentally raised a dead army one summer." Felicity shook her head. "That second bit happened way before Remus and I started dating. But let me get this straight. You don't like me because you think I'm going to hurt Remus and because I'm not the girl who, in your opinion, should actually be with your brother?" Mattie nodded her head in response as if proud of her reasons. Felicity could only give a slight sigh of sympathy.
"Remus is a grown man. He is capable of making his own choices. If he wants to leave me he can at any time. Sure, it'd suck on my end but I won't force him into anything he doesn't want." And just as Felicity was about to continue the fifteen year old cut in. "No, he can't leave because you're brainwashing him with your siren powers or whatever." That statement was only answered with a bit of a laugh from Felicity which prompted a raised eyebrow from Mattie. "What's so funny. I'm right." Felicity shook her head. "I'm a daughter of Pluto. I can't even use all the powers from him properly, just shadows and raising skeletons. I can't even raise a zombie or move a rock! I'm not luring your brother in. I know I'm not the person you want your brother to end up with, but can you at least give me a chance?"
Mattie was silent for a moment before shaking her head. "No." "Why not?" That question seemed to have taken the younger girl by surprised as she knit her eyebrows and seemed to look in her head for an answer. "Because.... um.... because I said so." Mattie finally spit out. "So, because you said so, you're going to keep your brothers happiness away from him?" "No. I just won't give you a chance." "Which by doing that you're hurting him. Mattie, please, just a chance. I promise I won't hurt him and if I do, well, you can be the one to beat me to a pulp, okay?" Mattie seemed to weigh the odds. "Fine, but only one chance! Mess up again and I will beat you up, that's a given, but I'll make sure you never see my brother again." Mattie said trying to look threatening. Felicity just gave a slight nod. "Fair enough. I'll be sure to remember that." "Good, now leave me alone." Mattie said picking up her book to continue reading while Felicity gave a soft smile before exiting the barracks satisfied with the deal they made.
