Appearance ;;
Being a goddess, Proserpina can change her appearance at her will, but has a preference (unless deliberately trying to hide herself, which isn’t often). It also should be noted that certain small things about her change by season, such as her eye color or choice of clothing. More steady is her overall physical appearance. She stands roughly 5’8” and has dark brown hair that reaches a little below her shoulders (though she sometimes wears it short too, depending on her mood really). Her skin is on the pale side, possibly because how much time she spends in the Underworld, though really it doesn’t change much during the Summer either. Against this pale skin, she does have slightly rosy cheeks and soft pink lips that are often in the form of a smile. Her eyebrows are thin and expressive. Her eyes change by season. While she is on Mount Olympus during Spring and Summer, they are brown. While she is in the Underworld during Fall and Winter, they are multicolored. In Spring and Summer she tends to go for color in her wardrobe. Any color found in nature (mostly in flowers) she likes to wear and has a very feminine style. When in the Underworld, she tends to still wear feminine clothes – very particular to dresses – though wears more subtle colors that match her surroundings such as dark reds or purples. This is not the rule, though, and she is known to get in a colorful kick, standing out greatly in the dusk of the Underworld in warm blue or white or the like.
Personality ;;
Proserpina is known to be one of the kinder goddesses in the myths, but she is in no way perfect. Thankfully, Pluto is usually quite loyal and a good husband, so she does not have much occasion to be bitter about that. She is, however, no fan of her step-children and either ignores them or antagonizes them usually. Once every century or so, she does have a child of her own with a mortal, usually during the Spring when she is away from her husband, though this is quite infrequent. She believes marriage is to be taken quite seriously, and most often does so. Though the myths paint her as the victim – at first she saw it that way too – she greatly loves Pluto and usually visits him during the Spring and Summer as well. Also true to the myths, she has a very calm temper. Even when it comes to her step-children, she in no way takes the great action against them that her own step-mother, Juno, does. She is not easily angered, but when she is angered, heaven help you.
If there is anything to describe her, it is that she is a typical girly girl. She loves dresses (long in the Underworld, knee-length on Mount Olympus unless otherwise required) and flowers and that sort of thing. As the goddess of young life, she watches over children both in the human world and the animal world. She is not above playing games with Cerberus, whom she sees as being an oversized puppy. During Spring and Summer, she spends a lot of time in natural areas like national parks or places where mankind simply has no hand, and enjoys the wildlife and plant life. It is arguable that she is one of the more childlike goddesses. This does not, however, mean that she does not understand responsibility. She takes her role as Queen of the Underworld seriously as well and, when called on to do so, helps her husband a great deal, trying to judge fairly.
Powers ;;
Proserpina is the goddess of many things, so we will do them in order of what she presides over:
Springtime & Flowers – Proserpina can control plant life, but most successfully if it’s a type of plant that flowers. She has no preference to what flower and loves them all the same. Though it may seem odd to most, she usually compares the one she loves the most to different types of flowers (so it’s good if she called you a Black-Eyed Susan… even if you’re a guy). He enjoys the gardens of Mount Olympus during her time there, and her personal garden in the Underworld during her time there. Though she is not a particularly violent goddess and prefers to give her blessing to heroes rather than do it herself, she can, when necessary, use poisonous or thorned plants to her advantage.
Fertility – Um, yeah. (PJ wiki said she presides over it, so we’re just going to mention it LIGHTLY.) Mostly she just blesses people wanting to have children (and same goes for animals and plants, sort of), though it has mostly gone out of fashion for parents to give her offerings this modern day.
Young Life – Here she can sometimes seem a little Snow White-ish. During Spring and Summer, she spends a lot of time in nature with young life. She once brought a kitten to the Olympian Counsel meeting and angered her father, though was thankfully allowed to just quickly drop it off back at the shelter she’d gotten it from and return to the meeting. She did, however, return to the shelter after and pick it up again. To this day, it is uncertain if her father knows this now eternally young kitten lives on Mount Olympus… with two more to keep it company. She is also rather fond of Cerberus, more or less claiming him as her oversized puppy.
Queen of the Underworld - She has no real "powers" associated with this as she was not born for this role, but she does have a say in judgement.

Jupiter - father
Ceres - mother
Pluto - husband
Melinoe - daughter (by Pluto)
Mairyse McCloud - daughter (by a mortal)
Evelyn McCloud - granddaughter

History ;;
Considering the trend Jupiter has/had with women (and indeed many immortals as well have it too), it should not be surprising that he hooked up with his own sister when he was married to his other sister. From this brief union between Jupiter and Ceres, came Proserpina. Proserpina, once she came of age, was given reign over Springtime, flowers, fertility, and young life. Being the goddess of young life, though she was indeed younger than many of the immortals, she always appeared hardly above twenty years old. Proserpina was the jewel of her mother’s eye and they frequently stayed together. However, there were many an instance when Proserpina would not be invited to important meetings when her mother and father were and she was left to herself. During these times, she gained the habit of going out into the mortal world and simply enjoying nature (and nature, in turn, rather enjoyed her presence too). Her mother had no problem with her doing this, considering how Proserpina was quite close to her mother and highly respected her and always came back to Mount Olympus by sundown. It should be noted that she (usually) was also loved by her father, but considering she was definitely not loved by her step-mother, that relationship didn’t go very far.
One day, however, things did not go normally. It would seem that in her harmless wandering, she had caught the eye of her uncle (did I mention the gods are weird about relationships?). Proserpina knew nothing of his budding love for her and, if it may be said, his somewhat stalker obsession with her. He grew sloppy in his work and got on Jupiter’s bad side, though since Proserpina was not always welcome to hear her father’s talks, she knew nothing of this either. Pluto and Jupiter met and discussed it without Ceres around. Jupiter agreed to allow Pluto to marry his daughter, though as the myths go, Proserpina and Ceres were left in the dark. One day in October, Proserpina was out and about as usual, somewhere in the West, enjoying the sunny weather, when he arrived. To her naïve eyes, it was nothing short of a terrifying abduction. After all, when one of the Big Three – arguably the most intimidating of the three – rides up through a crack in the ground on a black chariot and grabs you… it’s a bit of an eye opener. She really had no say in marrying him since her father had already arranged it. Ceres went mad with fear and anxiety, searching the world for her daughter. Due to this, the crops began to fail and the weather to worsen and all mankind was hindered because the goddess of the harvest was too busy to do her job. In the meantime, Proserpina was scared and miserable, crying near every day and avoiding Pluto all she could. Jupiter was alarmed by Ceres’ reaction and how it was affecting the mortal world, so he again spoke with Pluto and this time with Ceres as well and they came to an agreement that Proserpina would spend half the year in the Underworld and half on Mount Olympus. Ceres, though not pleased, was consoled at least.
As the myths would have it, before Proserpina left the Underworld, Pluto offered her a pomegranate to eat, and she ate six seeds from it. Being Underworld food, it was nothing like it’s upper world equal. It tasted the same and looked the same, but since it grew in the depths of the earth, it was, one might say, cursed. Because of these six seeds, she was destined to spend an equal amount of months in the Underworld. This myth, however, was mostly made up my mortals who did not realize that it was a deal struck up by her father, mother, and now husband.
Though her first six months in the Underworld were miserable, the next year she gave into the idea that she was trapped there no matter what, so she allowed herself to try to find the good in it. She even risked being around Pluto sometimes, though he still made her nervous. After a month or so of this, she started talking to him more. She got to know him. By the next year, she could no longer deny that she was falling for him. Within five years of this, she was hopelessly in love. Not long after, they had their daughter, Melinoe. Unfortunately, Melinoe was not the most delightful child. She held a grudge like no one’s business and did not like her father at all and, since Proserpina sided with Pluto, did not like her mother much either, and the three did not make up much of a family.
Still, Ceres was upset when her daughter was gone, and during these months, crops did not grow. Proserpina herself was almost always in a sort of bittersweet limbo. Either she was with her beloved husband in a dismal kingdom (at least he’d given her a garden though), or she was with her dear mother, but away from her husband. She usually made exceptions during the Spring and Summer, sneaking away for a day or so to be with Pluto. Recently, during the two wars with the Titans, she spent the whole war, sometimes with her mother as well, in the Underworld, neither of them being fighters much. Now that the government has abducted demigods, including her step-daughter, she is under suspicion because one of the culprits is actually her granddaughter. She is stepping in to try to mend things with the happy thought that her husband won’t put a hand on Evelyn for fear of hurting Proserpina.
