Appearance ;;
Kaya is fairly short, coming only to a not so intimidating 5’4”, with rich, thick blonde hair that sometimes curls slightly as it reaches a good distance past her shoulder line. Her eyes are crystal blue and skin porcelain and radiant. She is rather slender and many on first sight might dub her beautiful. However, do not let this fool you. Kaya is a bit of a tomboy, following her own roads with only enough respect for the rules to not break them regularly. During her Legion years, she wore armor practically 24/7, a fashion she learned from her mother, who is a daughter of Bellona. Now that she is retired from Legion (and the nasty memories from there – see history) she tends to dress slightly more feminine, but not in a flaunting way really. Just jeans and whatever top is comfortable and add a pair of sneakers or sandals and sometimes a hat and she calls it good. However, next to full Roman armor, anything is more attractive to most. She’s never worn makeup in her life and honestly has no idea how to apply it, but it never really occurred to her to learn anything past Chap Stick (because cracking lips is fun for no one). She still regularly trains, usually at the archery range, just because being fit is good and archery is a good way to blow off steam.
Personality ;;
As mentioned before, Kaya was always a bit of a tomboy, rough around the edges type. During her ten years in the service, she had a grand total of one female friend, who later betrayed her trust and the poor girl avoids being anywhere near Kaya for her own safety. Though it should be noted that her closest guy friend took part in this betrayal even worse than the girl, and thus Kaya now has difficulty letting people in and trusting them at all. From her mother and grandmother, she gets a rough and tumble attitude about the world and does what she can to let anything simply slide off her without affecting her too much. However, this is not always a foolproof system, and she is known to have a bit of a temper when it doesn’t work. Insults to her appearance are much more easily taken than, say, insults to capabilities as a fighter. She also has a nasty habit of expecting others to be able to take care of themselves and not usually jumping to the aid unless it’s obviously needed. This she mostly learned from how others tend to treat her, which is to say, the exact same way.
On the inside more recently, however, Kaya has a hidden side. Not many if any – even family – know about it, as she does her best not to let it show. Part of her doesn’t like to be a tomboy, but feels herself cast into that role anyway. This also stems from the way her singular past “boyfriend” treated her, seeing as his deepest show of affection was a kiss on the cheek and then going back to treating her like just another of the guys. During the two years she was with him, she wouldn’t admit she sometimes looked to the other girls in camp and wished she could be more like them. Again, not something she ever admitted, also for fear of giving her grandmother a bad name. But when that relationship abruptly ended, she ended up torn between her outer shell and inner person, though to this day keeps her reputation as best she can, seeing no real need to do otherwise.
Powers ;;
FROM BELLONA (legacy):
Weapons knowledge – Though not as adept as a direct child of Bellona, she does have a knack for most types of weaponry without too much instruction.
Power Lending – Also not as strong as a direct child of Bellona, but she can lend her strength to another she is in direct contact with. This does drain her quite a deal, as the power lent is equal to the power spent. She must be feeling the particular emotion (e.g. bravery or courage) for it to be transferable.
FROM APOLLO (demigod):
Light Manipulation – Kaya can change the path or focus of naturally occurring light. Does drain personal energy depending on the amount of light being changed.
Healing – Kaya has a gift for medicines and can help wounds to heal faster by singing a hymn to her father.

History ;;
Coralyn Hale was a tough fighter who made it to centurion of the second cohort in her time at camp and stayed on in the service until she could no longer. This reason being simply… that she had become a mother. Coralyn attracted the attention of Apollo when she was going regularly to his temple to give offerings. She believed strongly in respecting all the gods, so this was quite normal, but she tended to bring biased extra gifts to those she liked best, though she would never admit it out loud. Apollo happened to be one of them, since she saw the importance of his descendants healing battle wounds and believed that it was thanks to this that the troops she helped to lead were in such good condition. It was also helped by the fact that she was speared through the stomach in one of the many war games and if it weren’t for the quick thinking and bravery of a daughter of Apollo, she would have died. Apollo took note of the extras she always brought him after that incident and, in her 14th year of service, he came to her. At first she didn’t know who he was, and the two grew close. One thing led to another, and before long she was with child. It was then that he revealed his identity and she was beside herself with joy that she would give birth to one of the demigods she had always admired. Six months later, she left the service to make sure her child would not be harmed by the roughness of training. Kaya was born in New Rome on May 16 of that year and her mother loved her dearly in every way she knew how to. She made sure that she spent time around other children of Apollo to expose her to what sort of powers she would be growing into, but she also trained the young girl in Bellona’s ways long before she was admitted to the Legion.
Thanks to her early training, it did not take Kaya long to get through Lupa’s tests, get to camp, and be placed in the third cohort. She worked hard and eventually herself made it to centurion rank in a relatively peaceful time at camp. It was then that she started to date a boy by the name of Timothy Greenbury who was co-centurion with her. The two hung out together all the time, having been friends for years already, and trained together and she soon became a regular member of his large group of friends. Her singular female friend, Amanda Reyes, joined in not long after. For two years, everything was great, or at least mostly great. Timothy wasn’t wonderful at showing his affection for Kaya, but she figured it was just his norm, so she didn’t do anything about it. She cared a lot for him, more than she wanted to admit. However, it soon became apparent that the feeling was not actually mutual. One day she was inspecting the Field of Mars for strategy for the next war games when she spotted him and Amanda off to the side of the archery field… kissing rather passionately. She wasted no time in breaking it up and also breaking Timothy’s nose with a well-placed sucker punch. Needless to say, the relationship had reached its end.
Broken, Kaya found some relief in her work in the infirmary, though she saw to it that Timothy did not walk away clean from his stay there and instead had a nasty bend to his nose to remember it by. Trouble was beginning to brew in the outside world though at the time too, which grabbed the attention of the entire camp. Being so near what scouts were reporting to be the reforming remains of Mount Orthys on Mount Tam just north of the camp, all were on high alert. It wasn’t long before war broke out and Camp Jupiter marched on Mount Tamalpais. Many didn’t make it, and Kaya played the role of both leader and field medic at all times. It was trying, and she ended up in the infirmary herself from exhaustion after lending power to one of the praetors by the end of the war. As soon as the war ended, she packed up her thinks and retired, settling into a small but comfortable apartment in New Rome as she worked part time at the hospital as a nurse and went to school at night to get a degree to earn herself a rank as a doctor. She returned to the service, as many did, for the second Titan war, this time as a full-time medic behind the lines. Now that the wars are over, she is back to the same old routine, very near finishing her degree and the promise of a better, more affective job to come.
