Name ;; Nora Felix Reyes
Nickname(s) ;; None yet
Age ;; 10
Birthday ;; May 11
Gender ;; Female
Species ;; Legacy
Immortal Parent ;; Ceres
Years at Camp ;; Just arrived. Can I go home now?
Celebrity Claim ;; Quvenzhané Wallis
Appearance ;; At 4’7”, Nora finds herself literally looking up to most of the campers. At 68 lb, some of the campers could probably use her to lift weights. She is a rather petite girl, since her Legion training muscles haven’t developed at all, yet. However, according to tradition, she bears the SPQR tattoo along with Ceres and Venus’s symbol. She doesn’t have any service year marks yet, as she only arrived around a week ago. Her hair is dark, thick, tightly curled, bushy, and, on some days, unruly; it falls a bit below her chin. On most days, she keeps it down. However, with the Legion and training staring her down, she started to brush it into a pony tail to keep it out of her face. Outside of training, she usually wears legion purple or an earthy colored top with a denim jacket. Even at a young age, she has a vague fashion sense, although Venus can probably be thanked for that.
Personality ;; Being a legacy of both Venus and Ceres is hard. Nora is constantly torn between wanting to look nice and wanting to get down and dirty with nature. She usually ends up compromising and switching back and forth. She’s looking forward to breaking both stereotypes and using the knowledge and combination of her powers to train and fight. To say she’s a ball of fluff and sunshine would be lying. Like every child, she throws her surly fits, but usually gets over them quite quickly. Nora can also be painfully shy towards some adults (as in people aged 16 or over). Sometimes she can be a tad bit over dramatic and she’ll outpour her emotions when she needs to. She also has a tendency not to ask for help unless it’s absolutely necessary. She treats everything as a challenge, and if she can’t get it, then she feels as if she isn’t worthy. She’s sort of a perfectionist, always yearning for older people's approval. In that way, she's easily malleable and has always been a rule follower.
On the whole, she’s rather amicable and easy to get along with. Easily excitable, she’s rather curious and looking forward to participating in the life of a Roman soldier. After all, it’s a new adventure, a new challenge. However, she is also full of reluctance since she’s never fought a day in her life. Also, everyone seems really intimidating. Even in her first few days, she’s heard heroic tales, and wants to grow up strong and brave, just like her biological parents. Of course, she’s still wrapping her head around it, but she has a rather flexible belief system. She has a lot of faith and trust in things she hasn’t even seen yet (because if monsters can be real, so can the gods). She’s been told that she has a lot of relatives and that the gods themselves sometimes come to visit, which is another really exciting aspect for her. Hopefully the place will meet her expectations and won’t destroy her naivety…
Powers ;; Being a Legacy, Nora has limited, dimmed powers from both godly counterparts. From Ceres, she inherited the ability to help plants grow and heal. This can only occur right in front of her, and it takes a good deal of concentration and energy. It directly varies with the plant’s size and amount she wants. Other than that, her knowledge of plants mostly comes from books. She gets a gut feeling and sometimes the Latin roots of the plant name but more often than not, she has to look it up. She also knows how to care for them rather well, although it’s questionable if that’s a power she inherited (an innate sense on how to do it) or if it came from sticking her nose in books, having her parents explain, and applying techniques in real life. From Venus, fashion trends come to her easily, she’s naturally good at make up, and has a knack for understanding basic French. Anything beyond would have to be nurtured to a fuller understanding.

History ;; Yeshima and Thomas decided to try their luck outside of New Rome's borders. As soon as they both finished out their service (Thomas had to wait two years), the couple took off, back to the mortal world they had loved before getting shipped to the Legion. They prospered for a few years: Yeshima at a beauty salon and Thomas at a high end landscaping company. They didn't realize they were only lustfully attracted to each other and just okay when they both had steady jobs. It came out after Tom got laid off. Things just started going downhill from there, especially after a pregnant Yeshima caught Thomas in the middle of an affair. During the middle of an argument, Yeshima confessed that she didn't even know the baby was his. The apartment atmosphere turned hostile and toxic, and one day, after a company convention, Yeshima came home to an empty house and a note. Tom had taken off, saying that he didn't care whether the baby was his or not, he just couldn't live like they were.
Nora was born on May 11, 2005. A very easy baby, Yeshima tried to take care of her all by her self for a few months, but soon became overwhelmed without any help. Not knowing whether the baby was Tom's or not (which it was), knowing that he didn't want them in his life either way, and now failing to properly take care of the baby by herself, Yeshima decided to do what was best for her child: give her up for adoption. On September 21, two police officers found a four month old baby swaddled up and abandoned on a park bench with a simple, typed up note saying "Her name is Nora, and this is her blanket."
Linda and Raymond had been trying to have a child for years. After multiple fertility tests, failed pregnancies, and a miscarriage, they were beginning to lose hope. However, they desperately wanted a child, so they turned to their last option: adopting one. After a home inspection and background scans and references, they were put through to a domestic adoption agency and put on a waiting list. Five months later, they were told that they had a daughter waiting for them. Linda and Raymond brought Nora home at ten months old. By then, she had become a bit more feisty, but they loved her just the same. They also decided not to tell her she was adopted, they'd tell her when she was older.
Even though being a legacy gave her dimmed powers (which she didn't really know she had) it came with its perks too. Mainly the fact that she wasn't chased by monsters every couple of years. She can only remember one attack ever in her life. It was minor and she walked away pretty much unscathed. Of course, she had to move schools after she "attacked another student", but other than that, her life was rather quiet. Nora was one of the lucky legionaries to grow up with friends and have success in school: her favorite subjects being science and history. She also grew up loving books, usually on plants. Most of her knowledge comes from remembering things from books and remembering her parent's explanations when she didn't understand. She also found herself being drawn to makeup and clothing at a young age. Linda was a bit less than pleased (but couldn't help be amused) when she came home to find Nora doing pretty much on point make up. They afterwards made a deal that she wouldn't put on that much until she was thirteen. The Reyes were happy: they finally had a child whom they loved as much as they would have if she was biologically theirs. Nora had friends, fun, and love in her life. She liked her teachers, her school, and despite the mild ADHD and dyslexia, she fit in quite well. Little did they know that their happiness would change in a few years.
A month or so before Nora's tenth birthday, Raymond started getting odd dreams. He passed them off as nothing, but then Nora and Linda started getting them too. They ignored them for as long as they could, but then on Nora's tenth birthday, a woman appeared at their door. She did as much explaining as she could, but what did she expect two mortals to understand? She had claimed the child, and it had come time for her to enter into the Legion. To try and soothe the parents's mind, she told them that a lot of the peril had passed, and Nora should be back in ten years. Not really at ease at all, but not wanting to anger the woman, the Reyes let the woman (Ceres) take their daughter to the Wolf House. Ceres revealed herself as the girl's grandmother, gave a little more explanation of the world Nora was about to plunge into, and then vanished.
Head still spinning from the "I'm adopted and also a decedent of the gods", a terrified (yet intrigued) Nora faced Lupa. It was easily the worst birthday ever for her. For two months she trained with the she-wolf. She almost got eaten once or twice, but she wanted to prove that she could do it. Ultimately, she was allowed to leave and found her way to camp, taking down a monster on the way there to try and prove her worth. Finally, she made it to the Legion. Her head is still spinning from all the information. Her grandmother had been right, she had escaped the worst of it: two wars and a government capture. As of now, she's only been here a few days and is still trying to adjust. She's already heard so many stories of heroics, wars, battles, and traitors. She has mixed feelings: on one hand, this place is an adventure with family she didn't even know about. She's excited about meeting them, not a drop of grudge held against them. On the other hand, she needs to learn how to fight and misses home terribly.
Thankful that she entered in a time of peace, she wants to do as best as she can so she can get back to her own parents quickly. As much as this place intrigues her and as much as she wants the adventure like she's read about in books, there's no place like home.
