Appearance ;; Some people say that James is a very handsome man, others just try to deny it, or that is what he says. He is 6 foot 2 inches tall. His body, after all those years of daily training in the roman ways, his body has an athletic built. wide shoulders, strong, well marked and worked muscles. He has lost his left hand (see history) and now he wears either a wooden rigid hand or a hook, maybe that is the most distinctive thing he has besides his cocky smirk and his flirty, sweet, blue eyes. when he was a young legionary, he used to be shaved all the time, short hair and always wore the Camps uniform. But after he came back from visiting his mother, he has a shaggy beard, kind of messy hair, wears jeans and leather jackets or coats.
Personality ;;Little or much can be said of James. Some people say that he is a man of the past, from another century, because he is a gentleman. He treats all women as if each of them was a princess, even those who acted like a witch, he tries to be a gentleman. He is also ver passionate, he puts all his heart in each of the actions that he performs, everything he does, is because he wants it to be done. It leads us to him being extremely adventurous, since he was a little boy, he seems to find an adventure in every single thing he does, He takes a lot of risks when he goes into an adventure (why he uses a hook now), but he always is satified at the end of each.
He is extremely disciplined, not with an OCD disorder at all, he was just educated to be like that. Maybe it was the best way his father found to deal with the ADHD, but he in fact enjoys the discipline and the order, always needed on a ship. But like the sea of monsters, he always seems to be in a storm, he is a hothead, not very calm at all, even when he tried to control himself. He has a very open mind and likes to think about the many posibilities that the universe can offer. He is caring and friendly but you would have to unpeel him to get to that part of him, because he has some trust issues. And there is much more to know about him, but it is still under some other layers.
Powers ;; James, as a good son of Keto, knows how to be a sailor without a problem, in the sea he knows perfectly where he is and where to go, But that GPS is thousand times better when he is in the sea of monsters. He can breath underwater and also doesn't get soaked in water, but it is dangerous for him if he stays in Neptune's waters for too long.
He is able to control the sea water and even control some small currents to move around, trying to change a mayor current would drain a lot of his energy. he can also create a water whip. He can also create some small Tsunamis (the waves are 20ft high when he is in the sea of monsters, if he is not, then the waves are no higher than 7 to 10 ft.), but that drains completely his energy.
He can talk to sea creatures, although the ones considered monsters, like the Octopus, Squib, Sharks, etc are the ones that he can communicate with better. however sea horses, also horses in general are off limits, and they seem to hate him.

History ;; James father was a sailor, a modern pirate. He always dealed with very important things, most of the were so important that it wasn't a way to calculate the real value of them, still as long as he got a good pay for transportating them, he didn't care what they could be. He only had simple rules, no human dealing and no animal dealing. if they were things, like stolen computers, cars, etc, he didn't care and did all in his power to fulfill his mission, but whenever he found out that the cargo was a living thing and that the dealers were going to use them to gain money instead of freeing them, he killed the dealers and freed the cargo. A pirate with honor...
He wasn't a child anymore, he was almost 40 when his ship got into what it is known as the Bermuda Triangle. He was in a Cuban harbor, there a beautiful woman asked for his help. She explained to him that there were some men trying to sell a killer whale to a circus-aquarum in Africa. He looked into her eyes and he couldn't say no to her. He used his crew and stole the huge animal, they put it in his ship and sailed off that dock. for some weird reason, he didn't know why, but he sailed into the sea of monsters, the Bermuda Triangle.
The crew asked questions, but he only told them that everything would be fine. Several days and nights the journey last. And one of those nights, the beautiful woman and the capitain spend it together. Days later they freed the whale and hours later they got to an island and there she got off. She, as she promised, gave him gold and many prescious stones in payment. He left and continued with his life. Nine months later, a gigant squib grabbed the ship and dragged it back to the sea of monsters. There a whale swam around them and when it got to the surface over its back was a basket. then the whale got back into the water and left, the squib left too. And the cry of a baby was heard.
The crew went to pick the basket up and found out that there was a baby in it. with the baby a note that told Zachary, the capitain, who the woman really was and that the baby was their child, a demigod. She gave him all the instructions about dealing with a demigod and tht he should send him to Camp Jupiter in California, USA when he was 10 years old. Zachary didn't know what to think, but as he remembered the Gigant squid didn't hurt them, neither the whale. Both of them were only messengers. So he believed it and decided to keep the baby.
As he did it, it seemed that whenever they were close to the Bermuda Triangle, they were blessed with a good fishing, good weather, and for some reason whenever the authorities wanted to get them, the authorities simply vanished. (devoured by a creature of the sea).
The child's name was James. He was rised by sailors, modern pirates. Each of them was like an uncle to him, and his father taught him all what he knew too. Not also to sail, that for James seemed to be something natural, but also how to behave, how to deal with women and with enemies, how to control his anger and be a good man even when a pirate. He also developed his powers easily as he was always surrounded by the sea. But that also meant to be in Neptune's territory. Which while James was a baby wasn't a threat at all, but as he grew up and used his powers, he was recognized as a threat by Neptune's guard, so the ship was attacked all the time.
When he turned 10 his father told him he would have to go to Camp Jupiter as his mother said, but that he would have to be careful, Keto had never been seen with good eyes by the Olympians. James didn't want to go, but he knew that it was something necessary if he wanted to fulfill his destiny as a demigod. His father decided to go all over the Panama canal and then cross the continent like that, to take James to California. But there was a storm, something big and devastating. James thought that it was Poseidon trying to kill him and the storm almost did.
It had been a hurracane, nasty one. The ship got caught in it even when James tried to help he couldn't di much. The ship got severly damaged and more than half of the crew died including his father. After that James helped the crew to keep the ship and fix it. The first Mate, David Straw, survived too and he told James they would take him to California as his father wanted. and when he was ready, he could be the capitain of the Ship. James agreed and as soon as he got to California he went o find this Camp. Being on firm land was really weird for him and he felt kind of dizzy from it, but after some time he managed to do it.
He went through Lupa's house after some months, The wolves almost ate him twice. Then he went all the way to camp and a harpy almost killed him but he managed to defend himself with a thick branch as a sword. But the moment he got to the river he managed to use it, he cut the harpy in two with his water whip and then ran into the tunnel. In camp he was placed in a cohort as a probatio, it passes some months before he got his right place in it. But he was claimed only a couple of hours after he got to camp. His life in camp passed slow and normal. He was quiet and almost always nasty to others, a jerk some could say.
But life and Venus hit him hard when he fell for Clare... daughter of Neptune! He loved her since he was 13 years old, but he never was brave enough to tell her, Because he knew he hated her father more than anything. first war came and he fought hardly. He got injured, burnt on his back and now he has a nasty scar on his back. He survived and continued with his service. then two years after that another war, this time he fought again and protected his cohort and also some kids after the medic Ryan and his sister died bravely protecting them. He got minor cuts and bruises. So the moment the war finished and his service finished too, he simply left camp and went to his ship.
He got onto his ship and they went to Panama and then directly to the sea of Monsters. He spent there some months with his crew, until he found some illegal hunters, they were killing Orcas to use their teeth. He decided to stop it and destroyed several ships and killed their crews. But on one of the battles, his opponent was also a demigod, he killed the guy but the guy cut off James' left hand. since then he uses a hook, but he doesn't like to be reminded of it by being called like that.
Months later he heard about goverment kidnapping demigods and he decided to go back to camp and help... Clare mostly. But when he got there he was told about her engagement, about her wedding! He didn't know what to do, but he decided to stay and help around, train kids or just protect the borders, who knew what he could do there. Now he is there as a civilian, looking for a job and saving some money to go back to his ship.
