Appearance ;;
Furor is actually decently sane for a goddess of madness, and it shows in her appearance. She wears an impeccably tailored Victorian dress suit all the time, a lovely deep maroonish purple with black trim on the thick material. Under that peeks a delicate white blouse pinned at the top with a cameo pin. She wears several Victorian style bracelets around her thin wrists and her fingernails she keeps pained a nice shade of red. Her deep brown hair is curled to perfection and swept off her neck in a bunch and occasionally she wears a black woven hat with flower and grape imitations on it. Her makeup is always spot on as well. Physically, she’s actually rather attractive in an old school kind of way. Her smile though, betrays her madness. She seems all well and good, unless she smiles really. Then it’s completely evident that she is a psychopath. Her eyes, an ashy grey blue and always finely outlined in mascara and liner and shadow, hold a hint to her broken mind as well. All in all, she is very facially expressive and not very good at hiding her emotions, a downfall of being who she is. After all, she grew up under the wing of her mother, Nyx, who is also moderately insane.
Personality ;;
Furor is an interesting mix of personalities. She is inherently insane and has a temper like no one’s business, but at the same time, she does have a heart. She doesn’t like to harm her friends, however few of them she has. Perhaps the small number of them is actually why she doesn’t like to antagonize them. She also doesn’t like to harm family, which in all honesty, is only her mother. She doesn’t count her father. If she had children, they too would be safe, though chances are they would be moderately insane without her help. She resists doing her work, but in the end does find madness somewhat amusing. It’s a tough balance. For instance, in her past, she has been asked to step in and cause madness as favors for other immortals, but usually she tries to find another way before coming to the harsh reality that she cannot. (See history.)
Then, when her rage takes control, she revels in chaos. Usually this comes into play when either someone says or does something to tilt the delicate balance in her mind, or she uses her powers (see Powers). When someone else starts it, it could be something tiny that just escalates quickly in her own mind. A misplaced word or the like. Then she loses it. She is already volatile and dangerous as she is, but tip the scale and she is outright terrifying. She has a thin layer of ladylikeness, as seen by her wardrobe, but it is thin indeed. There are several things on her list of do-not-mention-in-my-presence, but to reveal them would simply be too easy. Trial and error is best.
Powers ;;
FRENZY – She personally has a very good way of freaking out. She’s very emotional and doesn’t hide it at all. Probably because it’s woven into her abilities. When she loses control, it’s not just in her head; it’s all around her. When she is contained, all is well. When she loses control, she inspires frenzy and rage in those within a 5 yard radius of her, bringing out the worst in them and helping – whether she means it or not – them to lose control.
MAD RAGE – Similar to frenzy, when she is upset, she influences those around her – again, whether she likes it or not – to become unnecessarily angry. This is usually, like her frenzy, within a 5 yard radius.
SUMMONING SPIRITS - Furor has the ability to summon up to ten lesser madness spirits known as the Irae and Furores (original, right?). However, she does this sparingly, believing that overpowering an enemy to be beneath her standards, so she only does this when she is completely out of control rage-wise and has a determination to either traumatize or totally annihilate her foe. She can only keep control over these spirits for 30 minutes before they return to her own being, where they stem from.
Family ;;
Nyx - mother
Ouranos/Caelus - father
The Maniae (insane spirits) - she is patron goddess and mistress of them
History ;;
Furor came into being when Saturn took control and, ahem, castrated his father, Caelus, and cast his, ahem, guy parts into the pit of Tartarus. One of the citizens of the darkest corners of Tartarus just happened to be a goddess by the name of Nyx, who ended up impregnated by the whole mess. Along came Furor. She grew up with her mother for the first hundred or so years, which had a say in her personality. She was already born the goddess of mad rage, but her mother was also known as a less than sane woman, so little bit of nature, little bit of nurture, and Furor ended up completely and somewhat cruelly crazy.
After a century, she got into that determination of youth (youth to a goddess) and struck out on her own, leaving the Underworld and her bad influence mother, but her personality, with the help of her powers, was beyond repair. She tried to keep a good name, but given the fact that she was the goddess of frenzy and mad rage (and rabies) she was not known for sanity another immortal or mortal alike. This reputation hardly came into play until the overthrow of the Titans, which was like Candyland to her. She joined the Olympians’ side because a violent overthrow promised lovely, lovely frenzy that she wanted to be right in the middle of. And in the middle of it she was, and made quite a name for herself too. The Olympians came to grudgingly respect her abilities so much so that they called upon her in their times of need, though she wasn’t always fond of this. As mentioned before, she was attempting to be decent, but her lurking personality made that hard.
One such time was when Juno was seeking revenge on her cheating husband by punishing his prize demigod son, Hercules. Juno nigh on ordered Furor to step in. Furor tried to find another way, hating to step in the path of the king of the gods, but in the end she could find no other way. When she used her powers on the demigod hero, she too lost her control and found particular relish as she saw her handiwork in him murdering his wife and children. Thankfully, Jupiter was only mildly furious with her. Another favor she paid to the Olympians was to Diana when the young goddess was seen my a mortal man while she bathed, which naturally made her really, really, really mad, so she employed Furor to strike mad rage into the man’s hunting dogs so that they would tear him apart. Dionysus was another who was known to call upon her, which she found actually tolerable because those he picked on tended to be, ah, easier to insight rage and, in her opinion, they had it coming anyway.
In the past two wars with the Titans, she took no side, simply flowing with whoever was driven most mad in the heat of battle, though it could be argued that she sided with the Olympians seeing as her Furores heavily hampered a monster battalion in the Battle of Manhattan (albeit, she was in the form of Lyssa, her Greek side, in that battle). However, now she is turning her attention to Camp Jupiter with the nearby chaos of the government interventions and the trauma that stemmed from those.
