Appearance ;;
Jace likes to be unusual. He’s a whopping 5’7” with promise of being taller eventually. He has the fashion sense of a Venus kid, even if it isn’t exactly… like everyone else. He really likes contrast. Black, white, red. That’s about his total color pallet. He likes to stand out, mostly because his mom is too boring for his tastes and he likes to prove no one can completely control him. He loves fingerless gloves and leather jackets, the louder the better. Healthy mix of metal and fur? Sure, sounds fun. Worn out jeans (black and/or white, of course, no blue! Too common!) and black high top shoes.
If it weren’t for his rotten nature, he’s actually be decently attractive for his age. His medium complexion face is spattered with an intense amount of freckles. His dark eyes are framed with equally dark eyebrows. His hair, though, is another matter. It’s naturally very deep brown, almost black. However, his years in a lab bleached it. It’s only just started growing out since last time he was experimented on, giving him a sharp contrast of pure white ends stemming from dark roots, which he keeps teased out like a slightly curled dual-tone electric puffball.
Personality ;;
Jace is the definition of troubled teen. His mother is Clementia, the goddess of forgiveness and mercy, but he is in the middle of a sort of rebellious state right now. Actually, in all honesty, he never followed his mother (more in History). He lives under orders, but he hates to follow them unless they benefit him. There are even times where he will argue an order or suggestion, even if it does benefit him, just on the grounds of being a jerk. Especially when these orders are coming from Melody, who he considers especially annoying most of the time. She has her moments, but they are few and far between. Same goes for anyone. Audrey, he respects only as far as she is older than him and he does actually like her as a sort of sister figure. This, however, is something he would never admit to anyone and, when it allows, will buck her authority.
Jace is also a little strange in that he is just discovering that girls are actually different from boys. Not in the physical sense. Sure, they are in the physical sense, but he knew that because, well, he’s seen grown female and male people and is not stupid. But he’s starting to consider his two female counterparts, Melody and Emily, as, how to put it, gross. And unfortunately, they have both discovered the one way to get him away. Blow him a kiss, or worse yet, threaten to actually kiss him, and he runs like a frightened puppy.
Powers ;;
Jace doesn’t actually have a lot of powers, at least not ones that were not suppressed by the experimentation. However, some still survive in milder form:
Forgiveness/understanding/empathy – While he hardly utilizes this skill anymore… he is exceptionally good with people. He can understand the viewpoints of others well and see their side of things. He can understand their reasoning for what they did easier than most. This allows him to forgive them more easily. Like I said, not a highly utilized skill, seeing as thanks to his upbringing, he believes barely anyone is actually worthy of being forgiven.
Lying – This is an acquired skill, rather than a gods-given one. He practices lying so much he’s nearly as good at hiding the truth as a Mercury kid. In the same light, he’s also really good at telling when someone else is lying. He calls it his super power, which in all actuality, is only his claim to having some sort of power, since, in his own words: Clementia is lame.
Family ;;
Clementia - mother
Unknown - father (deceased)
Unknown - possible siblings (he knows of none)
Audrey Watkins - like the only adult he possibly listens to, older sister figure
History ;;
Jace’s history is unknown to pretty much everyone. He had a dad, who did something and was like something that attracted the goddess of mercy. They hooked up and had a kid. Rumor has it his father died the night this little baby in a basket was dropped at his doorstep. No one knows how, no one knows why. Some say a heart attack. So much for mercy. Anyhow, as the rumor story goes, the police were called in by the neighbors when they investigated the crying baby the next day and went to fetch his father and found a dead body. As with his birth, no one really knows how he came to be with the government. Some say the neighbors took him in, but as elderly as they were, they didn’t stay alive much longer than the father did. Before he could be entered into the foster system, a mysterious person came and picked him up, filling out the official paperwork to adopt. A little sleight of hand and he had a new home. With a under-the-table group of the government, who was already onto his heritage even though he was hardly two. To them, him being the son of the goddess of mercy and forgiveness was like a challenge. How could you turn a naturally noble soul into a rotten mess? They intended to try.
Jace was raised on a steady diet of cruelty. When he hit the tender age of five, the experiments began. That’s also about when he made friends, or as friendly as he could have gotten, with a couple of girls and a boy all his age roughly, who were pawns of the government too. His new friends were his only escape from the torment of the testing. He hated the people who hurt him. It didn’t help that he was terrified of a lot of things, like needles and tight spaces. In fact, he still fears tight spaces, but he’s good at hiding it. He doesn’t hyperventilate anymore, which is a plus.
Him accepting his lot really started when Audrey showed up. He wanted to hate her too when she took over after the man before her, and for a while he managed to. Until on his birthday, she surprised him with a confetti cupcake snuck in. It was his first ever birthday party. It was then that he started seeing anyone outside his terrible-four as worth anything. However, he still acted tough because that was his coping mechanism. So he pretending to only tolerate Audrey when in all actuality, he did rather like her.
His world collapsed when the evil little self-righteous idiots from Camp Jupiter (his first time hearing about it) captured so many of his makeshift family, including Audrey. Jace was furious. Which meant when the plot came along to infiltrate the camp and break them lose, Jace jumped on board immediately. Besides, the now almost deserted base (most had been captured or ran), was boring. He needed fresh bait, people who didn’t know him well and didn’t know to keep a keen eye on him. A whole camp of fools. What fun!
