Appearance ;;
Tessa has a body that could be considered exceptional basted on current western culture. Upon entering the legion she gained a good bit of muscle mass, letting her have a body that is incredibly appealing to those who have eyes for the feminine gender. Her ribs do not show, and she is not what a modeling agency wants, but she is gorgeous in the eyes of most people. Her body converts much of the food she eats in into pure energy, which she often runs or practices archery or drills in order to burn off.
She refuses to wear make up, and attempts to hide her face behind her hair most of the time. She will wear clothes that purposely negate her shapely body, making her look a lot less endowed than she actually is. Her hair changes color slightly based on the time of year, from her blond hair to a light strawberry blond. She has full pouty lips that tend to be a beautiful red color even without make up. Emerald green eyes are set below arched eyebrows with long lashes that emphasis her eyes.
Personality ;;
To say Tessa is a little shy would be such a massive understatement it might be a crime. She tries not to talk to people, she tries her hardest not to talk at all. She likes to, and she likes to laugh with people, but she is afraid of people liking her only because of her charm speak light. This fear drives her avoidance personality. She wants people who are genuine friends, and not only because of anything superficial, or supernatural.
When dealing with her self Tessa is a perfectionist, everything she does she must do perfectly. This does not extent to other people, because this belief stems from the thought that she has to be perfect to be noticed. More than likely Tessa realizes this is irrational and has attempted to convince herself perfection is not required, but the Legion makes that difficult. She does not like to give up, and will often work herself near death in an attempt to get something absolutely perfect and keep it that way. She does not feel accomplished in the least if she allowed it to fall below her goal ever again. This has lead to many forced visits to the medical bay. She is stubborn refusing to believe she can not perfect something, however she will cut her efforts to more healthy standards after her forced medical visit.
Tessa works her hardest to be the best Roman she can be, showing early at every practice and doing over time to perfect herself. She will aid anyone who needs help, and has been roped into aiding at the infirmary enough to try and perfect that skill also. Tessa is a terrible teacher, considering the fact she refuses to talk to people, and they often get tired of reading signs she makes. People who do end up trying to talk to her get annoyed at her refusal to talk, but she will not lie and tell them she can't speak. She will lie about certain things, but tries not to lie, and especially if she is attempting to make friends with someone.
Powers ;;
As a legacy of Venus, Tessa has been granted the ability to charm anyone who hears her speak. It does not have the full effect of Charm Speak, and can only improve peoples moods. More specifically they tend to like her more. People who start off disliking Tessa will at least become indifferent to her when she speaks. After she leaves the attitude may go back to normal, or it may not depending on their personal reasons. The strength of how much someones attitude will change depends on the person and the circumstances. If someone is willing to like her more, the change can be significant, while people unwilling would only change slightly. There have been a few that are completely immune, but they have extremely strong wills and tend to be the type that refuse to like anyone. Tessa is unable to turn this ability off.
Not necessarily a power, Tessa does not bruise or scar easily. This keeps her skin near flawless, at least as much as one could wish for in the legion. It is not a healing factor, and does not help her heal faster or anything of the sort, it simply keeps blemishes from her skin. It also helps because the lack of sleep does not easily form dark circles under her eyes, it's been rather useful.
Also as a grandchild of Apollo, Tessa has acquired her mother and grandfathers affinity with the bow. She is also able to sing beautifully, but this may be an extension of her charm speak. Through a ton of extra training she has become decent with a sword and shield, battle strategies, and nursing.
Family ;;
History ;;
Tessa was born to a pair of demi-gods who were in the legion at the time of her conception and for part of her mothers pregnancy. They were not the best legionnaires in the first place, and the young pregnancy was frowned upon. Tessa's mother was released from her time in the legion. Her father stayed his full ten years before going into the world with the woman he loved. It was unfortunate their love did not last, and the feelings cooled after only a few years of being together. Tessa's father made an easy name for himself as an actor, his wit and charm near unimpaired. Her mother rose quickly in fame as a singer herself, and neither wanted terribly even after joining the mortal world. They employed powerful body guards to keep themselves and their daughter safe from harm. With everything going on in their lives Tessa was often left alone. Many times her birthday was forgotten, and her parents doted on her when they realized it. They had been too young to be parents, and simply coddled the girl when she interested them.
Tessa realized that when she did things well she got more attention. She got good grades in school and was praised, or when she started helping her father opposite him in acting she was praised. Tessa worked harder to do the best she could, and easily became a child actress with her fathers influence. Her mother sometimes became jealous of the attention her father got and attempted to teach Tessa to sing. She picked it up and practiced long hours when her mother wasn't looking so she would be praised more. She was happy with her life, her parents always went with her to see her movies, or if she was nominated for an award. It was the only time she really got to spend time with them as a family.
Her parents had always brought her up to talk to people, and her father explained her vocal gift. He told her that her voice charmed people, and it did so automatically. He was proud to call her his daughter, said she got it from her grandmother. Her father always got her to talk to the director before he made any discussions, and she learned quickly the effect she had on people. When the monster attacks began to get really bad on their daughter Tomas and Kisandra decided it would be best to send their little girl to the wolf house. It was fine with them, and Tessa had even heard part of their conversation when they believed her to be asleep. It would free up extra money, and the social obligations she had been making them do through earning awards would be great for leisure time. The next day they greeted their daughter full of smiles again, but Tessa's heart was broken.
After being told to be careful and be strong, because otherwise she'd be eaten by wolves, her parents left. They never looked back, and Tessa wonders to this day if they miss her. She has never gotten a letter from them, and despite the fact her first year she sent on every week she still sends them cards for holidays and their birthdays. Sometimes she'll get a card, but she always recognized her parents secretaries falsified signatures. She still keeps the cards, sometimes pretending they signed it themselves.
Tessa worked hard for the camp, working not only to be liked but also to get her mind off her parents. She perfected her archery, and continues to try and perfect her sword techniques. She is good, however she continues to be frustrated by her inability to be as good as others. In the battle at Mount Othrys Tessa used her expert marksmanship to pin down enemies keeping too many large foes from getting to the fighters in the front. Tessa had helped with the infirmary enough to bandage herself and keep her from dying, otherwise she was too focused on the battle to care. Even after taking multiple injuries she was able to concentrate on the battle until she fell unconscious from blood loss. She was reprimanded for her recklessness.
After the battle Tessa continued to aid at the infirmary, soon becoming good enough to diagnose and recommend treatment for some less challenging problems. She is unable to use healing magic, but is more than capable as a nurse. Though she did not talk, even to patients, she is able to get some people to talk about things she don't like talking about with other people. She always lets them write things down when they don't want to say it aloud.
As she worked herself far too hard, she trained to match. Sleeping for only a few hours a day, and considered herself well taken care of. There ended up being someone else who did not believe the lies Tessa told herself, along with finding great joy in tormenting her. Gunnar enjoyed seeing the sides she refused to show other people, and in hearing the voice she had shut away for so long. They began to date, and Tessa grew to become more confident in her own abilities.
The third titan war came, and Tessa lead her medics and her cohort through rigorous training. Some died, and she blamed herself, after all she had fallen unconscious again during the week long struggle. A dagger had pierced her heart, and both lungs before she was bought down. Being the love of Gunnars life, his grandfather Mors did not reap her soul. Allowing Tessa's Grandfather Apollo the time to rush to her aid. Though her heart had stopped, Tessa was revived and left to rest in the infirmary.
It took a great deal of convincing to get Tessa to rest, despite the not fully healed internal injuries. Mostly it involved a large supply of duck tape. In the end Tessa healed, and continued to live on. With Gunnar at her side she relaxed a little bit at least, and soon her father returned to New Rome to visit. Wanting him to be proud, and terrified of what he would say, she met him. Though not on purpose. His words where harsh, cutting ties with her completely. Everything she worked for was for nothing. If not for Gunnar, and Lilith, perhaps she would have stopped trying all together.
The stumble with her father allowed her to overcome part of herself, and she was able to see where she was happy. To be okay with making herself happy. For once in her life Tessa wanted to truly do something with her life, and not simply to make her parents accept her. Her plans changed to attend college, and both she and Gunnar began to look for where they might find a good degree. Even if they weren't in the same place, they would both return home together.
Gunnar proposed, they began work on a house, they had been accepted into their respective first choice of college. It was perfect. Life was going very well. Unfortunately Tessa met with an accident. On her way to a freshman orientation she was struck by a car. Her death was instantaneous, the driver had been going much too fast and paid little attention to the light signals.
Mors escorted the girl to the underworld with a heavy heart. Tessa could hardly believe it. She finally had dreams, ambitions. It wasn’t Mors' fault though he seemed to take it much harder than she. It seemed like in her hands was the things she wanted to do. Looking at the river of Styx she could see people tossing these things into the River. It caused her to grip onto them harder. To keep them and safe guard them. Death was not something to be feared, she knew that. But stories existed of those who where able to plead their case and return to life. Certainly many have tried and failed, but that didn't mean she shouldn't try as well. As terrifying as it would be to ask, she needed an audience with the king and queen of the underworld.
**quest to be determined**
Having returned to life in an unknown place, Tessa took a bit of time to adjust and realize where she was. It was not only the same city Gunnar studied in, but it was just outside of the school campus itself. Fresh air was nice, but she wanted to see him. Him and everyone else she had been missing for over half a year. Soon she'd be home.
