Appearance ;;
Celso is not all that intimidating. He has a thick, curious accent that betrays his infamiliarity with a real home. He was born in Italy, near Rome (ironically), but started traveling with his mother around the age of 3. So his birth tongue is Italian and his birth accent is Italian. But since his mom and him immediately moved to Paris, he picked up on that pretty quickly. Nowadays he could pull off a convincing act for either country. And also he is decent at cockney English, though could not come off as anything more than an in-the-know out of towner. His German isn't bad either seeing as his mother's best friend is Swiss. All in all, he knows a great deal based on where he lives or has lived, but Italia will always be his home.
But back to his physical appearance. He has dark, very Italian thick hair coming down to about his shoulders, though it only bares a smidge of a curl. His face is angular and decently pale, accented by the softest hints of mustache and beard. Not the wild scraggly kind, but the gentlemanly kind. He stands just under 6 foot tall and is not all that intimidating. Physically he is not that strong… looking. He can lift pretty large weights, just doesn’t show it often. This usually happens when he gets in fights with girls’ boyfriends. More on that in personality. He likes to wear dark clothes, not just because that’s what’s in where he lives, but also it hides his, ah, unusualness. He wants to blend in and stop being so out there in a place he doesn’t belong.
Personality ;;
One odd thing about Celso is his hero complex. Except he tries to earn it. He’s the kind of guy who will go into bars late at night and hunt down the ridiculously drunk women. Not to take advantage of them though; get your head out of the gutter. He does it to keep them out of trouble. Keep them company. Usually this ends with the girl’s boyfriend, who is usually also intoxicated, thinking Celso is some suave foreign guy putting the moves on his girl. Celso has gotten into several fights this way. One time he was even just entertaining the girl by teaching her standard Italian phrases as she fumbled drunkenly through pronunciation, then he got punched in the head. Yet he still does it. He has a soft spot for the lost. Like animals. How many times did he bother his mother to let him adopt a puppy or kitten off the streets? Too many to count. Never worked though. But that is the story of C.
C loves to learn and travel too, probably because that was all he did growing up. Before military academy, he rarely stayed put. Wait, military academy? Yes, he went to a military academy in Paris. He knows weapons and hand to hand pretty well and looks pretty darn good in one of those intense black burettes. Kind of weird, he thinks, but he can pull it off. He doesn’t look like a military type though. First of all, the hair. He obviously let it grow out asap and pays real attention to how it looks. Or, kind of. Enough to brush it in the morning. That counts, right? He is muscular, but hides it. Button-ups and sports jackets, that sort. He looks formal, but that’s just how he is.
Powers ;;
Most of his powers he learned on his own or with candid help from his father. He had to hide them from others, but would practice whenever given the chance. That one time everyone swarmed to his corner of the barracks during a winter training? Yeah, that was his doing. Er, the Southerlies he’d made friends with’s.
Aerokinesis – Celso can control the south wind. This is strongest during summer months when his father is in most control and is basically useless in winter. The other seasons, he can usually pick up stray southerlies here and there. Within a mile radius, he can feel the presence of a southerly and call it to his side for his use.
Flying – (yes, flying). This one Celso once suggested to his mother he use as street magic for added income, but she flat out refused. However, he can make as convincing a hover as that one street weirdo in the States. At top fitness, he can appear to leap about three yards, combination of good start and wind assistance. This has saved his life several times. It also makes him really good at that new parkour thing.
Heat and Fire Manipulation – Thanks to his father being the warmest of the winds, he can heat things up to ten degrees F difference. He usually does this only for himself or in case of need. He hates cold weather, so it is not unheard of for him to just warm the air in between his skin and his clothing (does that sound weird? Tough.). Though he would, of course, put it to use should another need it too.
Speed – Wind. It’s dang fast. The four winds were originally called upon to protect Olympus back during the New York Titan War. Nothing could get past them by air because of their speed. Ergo, their kids are fast too. In a foot race Celso can beat a child of Mercury, he just can’t teleport. That’s the main difference.
Family ;;
Arianna Votto - mother
Auster - father
Papel Votto - adoptive father
History ;;
Arianna was in the circus. Or, you know, an upper class circus. She defied gravity as a job on the highest of the bars Her fiery attitude and demand that she be given proper respect got the attention of Auster, who demanded similar things in his real life. The two met and he trained her in his own methods, which led her higher and higher in fame. One night led to another and soon she was taking maternity leave, teaching maternity fitness classes while she still could. Two days after her son, Celso, was born, she was written a letter. It explained the gods and monsters and what exactly it was that her son was. It was startling, to be sure, but soon she gave in and consented for Auster to see the boy. That didn’t mean it happened immediately. It happened on the hottest, most blistering day in August. A horse stopped in the square in Venice, unseen by all. Celso adored it and wanted a ride. Adrianna was nervous, until she saw its eyes reflect her old lover’s. She climbed on and took the boy with her. Still unseen, the horse carried them off, whisked over the top of the water by a good yard, which had the woman holding on tight and the little boy cackling in joy. Eventually they arrived at the court of Auster, who looked severely different in his normal form. There he learned his identity and shown a few of his powers he would be mastering.
When he was three, his mother remarried a man named Papel. They moved to France where Celso stood out, but soon as he started French school, things got better. He continued reading the myths about his father, encouraged by his mother and now his step-father. They were a great little family. Until he turned nine. It was right before his mother was going to send him to the American training camp, but she decided not to after this. After he saved the lives of their family. His quick thinking and quicker moves got them all to safety and with Adrianna’s new nerves, she didn’t want her boy gone in case it should happen again. So she hid them in Austria. Nothing much happened in Austria, far from the coast as it was. It wasn’t until he was 13 that his step-father wanted to see him do more than hide behind birth powers. After a long squabble, the family moved back to Paris and enlisted Celso in the military academy there. He excelled and he loved it there. Finally friends, even if he had to hide from them. He enjoyed it, and he learned a lot. When he graduated, he kissed his mother and step-father goodbye and started traveling Europe. Now he settled in Verona, Italy. Well, until recently.
One day he ran into a seemingly out of it younger woman in an alleyway who claimed to be Jane Doe. He took her in to help her and got her a drink to cure the hangover he was sure she had. Turned out it wasn’t that at all. Turned out she was a Roman demigod who had just gotten in a rotten fight with his husband (er, ex). He helped her out and now has, by said ex, been assigned her guardian back in this weird camp known as Camp Jupiter where he relies on the girl to keep the secret that he is actually Greek. He relies on her, and he likes to feel like maybe he is needed again. All in all, it’s a good relationship.
