People didn’t come here a lot. And by that he meant, pretty much never unless they were being tested by Lupa. Poor Lupa. She never got big-folk company. So Janus thought he’d change that. He sent out a wide invite among the immortals, wondering who would show for throwing Lupa a party. Janus got there first, both faces grinning. He had enough respect for the Wolf House not to do anything dramatic. But he did have cake. Actually, well, he had five cakes. Lupa was a big girl and she had a whole pack here of also-big wolves. So he set about arranging the cakes in a big circle in the grass. He could feel eyes on him and had a feeling at least three of the pack was watching him. However, they managed to stay out of the peripheral vision of two faces, so that said a lot for their stealth skills.
Then he pulled from his pocket the pack of special candles he’d stolen from Trivia. Supposedly they had magic properties when used correctly, but correct use was for fuddy-duddies. All he knew and presently cared about was that they could not be extinguished by normal means. So no amount of blowing or watering would end the flame. So, of course, he jabbed them into the cakes and lit them. They even popped and fizzed! Ooh, he hadn’t expected that one and it was delightful! It brought a maniacal grin to one face and a delighted one to the other, so all around the appearance was a bit scary. He straightened and tugged at his red silk-lined jacket and smirked. Perfect. He turned in place so his four eyes could take in the entire area. There were the ruins of the building to consider, but at this moment, he could not see the wolves. He still felt the eyes though. “Oh, Lupa! Someone’s here to see you!” both faces shouted, both smiling in their own unique way.
