February 14th. UGH. Worst day ever. Tiana pulled on ratty jeans and a hoodie and set out. First she treated her valentine – herself – to a smoothie. Then she treated her valentine – herself! – to a bag of taffy. She walked around town with the taffy and smoothie and tried to ignore all the cutsie couples already swarming the place. There was a dance in the recital hall and oh gods, help her. So many people already dressed for it. Sea of pink and red. Gag! She slurped her smoothie and tried not to think of it. She’d never had a date for Valentine’s Day. She’d never had a date at all. Her powers had set in so early that she’d just always been just her. She thought about going to go find that Mikayla girl, her cousin, but she probably had better plans today. Slurp.

She swilled the smoothie as though it were some fine wine, then popped a taffy piece in her mouth. Delicious. There were precious few people on the training field as she walked past Terminus. She was headed to Temple Hill. It was a short walk, really. She looked over to the Field of Mars, where she’d met Gabriel, and vaguely wondered what he was doing. He probably had a date, good looking and kind as he was, of course he did. She sighed. Slurp.

There was temple hill. She casually looked at the first temple, who just her luck was Venus. She took out a piece of her candy and did her best baseball pitch. It smacked against the glossy walls and Tee told Lady Venus exactly what she could do with that candy. Then she turned and stopped short. The gems littering Pluto’s temple had caught her eye. She liked Pluto. He had a tough job, but he did it well. That and her mom was and Underworld goddess, so it just kind of worked. She headed that way.

Pluto’s temple was half underground, but that didn’t bother her. She walked in with a slight bow. The obsidian statue was a little stern, but whatever. She took out three pieces of candy and laid them on his altar. “Cheers. To the only big three worth an offering.”

Okay so maybe Alberto was hiding, it was not his favorite day so to speak. His hair was more messed up then usual, and he was dressed in dark clothes from top to bottom. He had the camp t shirt bundled up as a pillow beneath him. Other then that he had on dark pants, a pair of converse and a black t shirt.

He was hiding away in Pluto's temple, just laying there throwing a ball up in the air and then catching it. He knew what day it was, and to be very truthful with himself he didn't want to witness all the loved up people, holding hands, giving one another sickening looks and others eating the face off one another. Nope, it was really not his kind of holiday so to say.

He caugh the ball once more whwn he heard someone enter the temple, the ball was now deep freezed but he didn't mind, it was just how everything went when he touched it.

His hazel eyes saw a girl by the alter and then got up from his lying position. A small laugh escaped him when she spoke.  "Wow.... that's the first time I've heard that." He then said and give the girl a small grin as he lean forward a bit and give her a look.

"So why aren't you all pinked up?" He then add and give her a look.

Tiana strolled in nonchalantly. She dropped a few taffies on the altar and another in her mouth, which she promptly almost choked on due to sudden laugher from someone she had not seen. She gave him an evil eye as she hurried to chew her taffy and swallow it so it wouldn’t choke her. “Trying to kill someone? Blending in like that? Like you’re the statue’s shadow.” That grin though, that was curious. It wasn’t mean or spiteful, it was just kind of… there. Still looked weird, but anyway. That could certainly be tainted by the fact that he looked like a shadow still.

Pinked up? She burst into laughter. “That’s rich. Me, in pink. Do I look like Princess Peach. I’d much rather fry that ditzy little idiot. No, pink is for freaks. Not just today either.” She plucked at her grey hoodie and smirked, then nodded at him. “I see you’re in spirit for this sorry excuse for a holiday too. It’s nothing more than a Hallmark holiday. Excuse to sell flowers and cards and chocolate to suckers willing to pay the inflated price for something that isn’t going to last anyway. All in the name of love.” She said that last word as though it tasted like expired vinegar. She took a swig of her smoothie to fix that issue. “The absolute only thing good about this holiday is the day after it. When all that stuff is fifty percent off. Stockpile on those cinnamon jelly hearts to last a while.” She picked at the wrapper of another piece of taffy. “What’s your name, kid?” She wasn’t really calling him kid because he was younger, but because that was just what she called anyone she didn’t know the name of. At least, anyone at or below her age. Calling seniors that might be awkward.

Alberto give out another small laugh when she give him the evil eye, “I don’t really think they would let you die though… especially not because of a jump scare.” he then answer her with sarcasm dripping in his voice. “And well..I like the dark, it’s not like it’s cold either way… can’t feel the cold.” he then answer and raised his shoulders a little before he look her over, she seemed madder then him, oh well there had to be someone out there with just as much anger as him right?

He give her a raised eyebrow when she started to laugh then talk. He then lets his eyes move over her body as she asked if she looked like some kind of princess, he then meet her ice blue eyes and grin, she could have looked like a princess if she wanted. But he decided to say nothing. He then glances down on his own atier for the day, dark colors, yes he had never been a valentine person, and well he had never had a girlfriend or anything so it just seemed like a dumb idea to walk around in colors he didn’t even like. This girl talked a lot, he then noticed as she spoke, a lot.

He let her talk however, not really listening anymore, just letting his hazel eyes go around the place that they were in, his eyes then land on her again when she asked about his name. “Alberto Constance, and you then? Oh princess of darkness?” he say the last part with a small grin on his lips, he then stood up pretty much towering over her as he look her over and grin. “And I turned 18 a little while ago” he add it as smooth as he can, he had always been a bit more awkward then smooth but hey that is life.

Oh, he had some guts in him. She made a pop noise with her mouth as she looked him over afresh as though he was a whole new creature. Gods, this kid was good with sarcasm. Fluent in smack-talk. Ah, kid after her own heart. Can’t feel the cold, huh? She held up a hand as though she were a Shakespearean actor and examined it as she pushed her own body heat into her palm so that orange flames danced across her skin briefly. “Ironic. I don’t feel heat.” The flames disappeared and she looked back to him idly. “So we’re polar opposites. Excellent.”

She started on the thing she did best: chew someone out. Words were powerful tools. They were like swords that didn’t need a whetting stone. Daggers that didn’t need polish. Arrows that didn’t even need a bow. Bang bang bang. Cut someone down with air and vocal chords. It was a pastime of hers.

Then there was boy wonder. He was looking around like he was bored. Her anger flared. She was Tiana Sinclair. She was not to be ignored. She thought of pitching a quarter-sized fireball at him, but decided against it. That would be too mean. Dang, look at her, developing a conscious. Finally he seemed to remember she was there when she asked his name. Alberto. What on earth? Italian? Maybe. Who knows. She did her best not to care. And Constance for a surname. Alberto Constance. She wondered what his middle name might be. Watch it be something so ill-fitting to the rest like… Bill. The first and last name were grand, so the middle had to be or the whole thing was ruined. Princess of darkness, huh? She chortled. Then this kid – Al – decided to pull a ha ha, I’m taller than you. Sure, Tee wasn’t that tall, about normal. This kid was like… the embodiment of one of the Alps. One of those where you see them and the first thing you think is dang, that’s tall.

And I turned 18 a little while ago.

She burst out laughing. “18? Gods, I was hoping for something more impressive. My age doesn’t begin with a one, kiddo. But a lady never reveals her age. And! Since you seem so inclined to make it obvious that you’re freakishly large…” She casually took another step toward him like it was nothing, closing the distance to roughly one uncomfortable foot. “My size gives me better leverage with a knee.” She was, of course, referring to the age old trick of crippling a male with a knee to the groin. She stayed stock still where she was, watching for his reaction. Threatening a male’s ability to not talk in the range of a piccolo was the true test of whether he was worth her time. They usually weren’t.

He tilts his head to the side when she told him that she couldn't feel the heat, well that seemed to be a good gift to have, his hazel eyes stares at the flames in the palm of her hand for a moment, they seemed welcome and nice in a way and he almost wanted to touch the flame and feel the heat, but he held himself back and instead give her a small grin, like telling her that she had a cool power without really saying anything about it.

He gives her a look when she said excellent, what was she on about? Such a weird girl indeed, but he didn’t say anything about it, instead he simply look around the walls of the temple, it was dark and gloomy down here but that was maybe one of the reasons he liked to hide out here when he didn’t want to talk to anyone.

He give her another look as she laughed of him, what is it with people and laughing of him these last days? He give her a small glare and wait for her to tell him why she was laughing, she then told him that her age didn’t start with a one and he smirks. “Oh, so I should call you old lady now or something?” he then asks and look her over. “so your what then? 30?” he knew she probably wasn’t but if she was laughing of his age he sure as hell would guess something along the lines of 30.

He then roll his eyes as she brings up his height. “not my fault your a midget…. Guess I have better genes” he then answer her with a smirk. When she steps closer he takes a step back, it’s not that he don’t enjoy to have a girl close it’s more of the fact that he don’t enjoy people getting hurt so instead he keep most people at arms length. “and you really shouldn’t do that to males if they haven’t done anything to you….I mean do you even know how much that hurts?” he then asked her and give her a look. “oh yeah… princess of darkness don’t have feelings for a simple demi god like myself…. Sorry I forgot” he then said the last part with a little sarcasm in his Spanish accent.

He then roll his shoulders and look her over once more. “So why you here of all places?” he then asks a little curious, normally no one other then the kids of the god came to this temple, hench best hiding place.

There was a funny little grin. Curious. Very curious. This whole encounter was just… weird. Namely, he was weird. Because obviously it couldn’t possibly be her fault. She was a bitch. Everyone who ever met her knew it. The only one spared was her step-sister, Mikayla. Then he did the unthinkable: tell a woman’s age. Her eyes flared. “You’re a right little bastard, huh? Sure, I’ll confess my age. And weight and BMI and social security number. Why not?”

And height worked its way in, of course. Midget? Midget? “Not my fault you look like a gangly Empire State Building.” He took a step back at her approach. Priceless. Perfectly priceless. If only he had cringed at her comment. Most guys did. This one obviously had not a stick, but an entire Redwood tree shoved up his butt. “It’s called preventative maintenance.” She certainly wasn’t going to admit what that one meant. Seeing as it was deeply personal. She picked on people because it made her more intimidating most of the time. And if you were viewed as intimidating, you were left alone for matters of self-preservation. Then he threw out the trip about her not having feelings. “Right, right, you’re right. Obviously the all-black social recluse hanging out in the temple of a hated god is definitely more knowledgeable about emotions. Honestly, she hated this. She wanted to get away, but he was a challenge and she simply couldn’t step down while she was losing. The saying pick your battles had never sat well with her. She fought all her battles without mercy, not matter how bad it hurt her. Because her pain came out as rage. Rage and fire. She was a wild inferno destroying everything in its path. And like any wildfire, she had no thought as to what was in that path. She was out of control. Few were spared. And she’d been raging and burning so long that she didn’t even notice the destruction she left anymore. She was numb to it. So maybe he was right. Maybe she had no feelings left.

That realization sunk in suddenly, deep and even hotter than her rage. She turned on the spot so he wouldn’t see that he’d actually won. She crossed her arms over her chest to look tough, but it was more to control the shiver. She was about two milliseconds from heading for the exit when he spoke again. She didn’t answer for a solid five minutes. Then she heaved an enormous sigh like telling him anything was simply the most annoying thing to ever burden her.

She dropped her hands to her sides and turned to regard him. “Because he’s the only Olympian worth visiting. He’s the only one who freaking understands how messed up and stupid this world is. How no matter what you do, sometimes you’re kicked off the mountain because you’re different.” She kicked at the floor though there was nothing to kick. She reveled in the sting it her big toe it caused. Pain was good. Pain told you that you were alive. For whatever that was worth.

Alberto gives out a laugh when she gets mad, such a easy person to rile up indeed he wondered who she was the daughter off since it seemed like she really wanted to murder him when he asked if she was 30 years old. “Well.. since you get so mad I’m still guessing 30 since you don’t want to tell me.” He then told her and raised an eyebrow to her, he himself was angry at times but it was nothing like this girl in front of him.

She seem to get even more fired up when she called a midget, and in all honestly he was expecting that when he called her it but when she called him a giant he holds back a laugh and looks at her with an amused face, such an angry little thing isn’t she? She then talks again and throws remarks to the way he dresses, he glances down on his dark clothes then up at her again. “Yeah, well… when you can’t fully control your powers, even hurt people at times you tend to step back and not really have any contact with anyone… I mean I haven’t hugged a person in almost 8 years, because I’m scared I will freeze their heart and kill them….” he shakes his head making some of the black hair fall into his face, he then notices her turning around and he wondered if he really hit a nerve when he said that she didn’t have emotions.

He give her a look when it seem like she is leaving and then she give out a sigh before she turn back around to face him and speaks. He nods and give her another grin, god he was like the cat from Alice in wonderland he shakes his head and walks over to where he was before and sits down. “I pick it all the time because normally no one comes here, it’s quiet and nice and I like the dark atmosphere in here the others are to bright to be honest” he then said and looked at the floor for a moment. He then raises his hand and made the floor into ice, watching the dim light of the cafe reflect to it and make the light around them a little brighter because of the reflection.

He then look at her again. “You might not believe it, but you are quite funny when you are mad..” He then told her.

Tiana casually shot the bird at him when he said her age probably was 30. And she should tell this snot, why? Think not. Gods, he was so infuriating. Why did he even exist? She wanted to just grab his pale wrist and suck all the energy out of him so he passed out for a week and she wouldn’t have to deal with him. Save the camp some trouble. He pulled some crap about not hugging people in eight years. “Making up stories to get you pity is a poor way to go, kid. Roman up.” For she couldn’t fathom the idea of accidentally freezing someone. That was mostly because she was so riled up she wasn’t thinking clear enough to remember there actually were Roman gods capable of that and if one of those were his parent, then his story might be true.

He threw an insult at her that took a moment to sink in, but when it did, it was like a sucker punch from Dwayne Johnson. She finally acknowledged him and there was that freaking grin. He was officially possessed. She was about to ask him which insane dead person had taken over his body at this present moment when he plopped his black-clad butt on the ground. His words… they didn’t sound possessed. Depressed, yes, but not possessed. “Yeah, life sucks, then you die-“

Then she yelped as the floor turned to ice. Seeing as it was polished stone floor, covering it with ice did a world of hurt. Her feet slipped in her efforts to get away from the ice patch and she grabbed the altar, making an unpleasant cut on one of her palms. “What in the underworld was that!?” She pressed her cut to keep it from bleeding, drawing energy from the surroundings to keep her core nice and toasty as the temple’s temperature continued to drop now the ice was here. She threw a glare at him. “Glad I can entertain.”

Alberto give the girl a look when she snorts and told him not to make up stories. He give her a look then rolled his eyes, it was the truth and if she didn't belive him, well then she didn't it was as simple as that. "I never lie" He then mostly muttered to himself as he cross his arms and give her a challenging look, he was used to people calling him things but he was more used to people being scared of him so the fact that this girl wasn't made him want to stay and just tease her some more.


As he has gone back to his place on the side of the statue she said even so casually 'Yeah, life sucks, then you die-' but before she finishes this sentence he has made the Polish stone floor to nice shiny ice. His hazel eyes look up at her when she yelps and they look at her cut on her hand. He sigh then get up and walk with ease towards her, he rip off a pice of his t shirt and holds it out for her to take. "It's clean." He then told her and gave her a look.

"Oh, I have ice powers.... sometimes like now I can handle them with ease but others I can freeze someone to death.... like you said life sucks... but atleast I can't feel the cold." He then raised his shoulders a bit and waits for the girl to grab a hold of the torn fabric of his t shirt. His raven hair has fallen into his hazel eyes, and he has a bored look on his face. He knows how he come off but he was pretty sertainly that the girl in front of him had the same attitude problem as him.

She glared at him. Then glared at him some more. Then a little more for good measure. She made a frustrated huffing noise as she held her bleeding hand tight to stem the flow, not even giving him the time of day to look at him as she heard him approach. Then she heard the ripping of fabric and looked up sharply. He was walking on the ice floor as though it was good sturdy grass with perfect traction. He really didn’t feel the cold at all. The air coming off the floor was miserably cold. It was, well, literally freezing. Her thin clothes weren’t doing her a world of good. She glanced at the tall statue behind him and saw a few fingers of frost creeping up the base. This place was nuts. She didn’t have to test it to know the taffy she’d left on the god’s altar was harder than a stone by now.

She looked down at the torn cloth he was offering and back up to him with narrowed eyes. “Tell me why I should trust you, freezer boy. I dang well tried finding a bridge we could meet on and you mocked me for it. So I’m not inclined to believe you are the type I would want to accept help from. I mean, you’re like… sure, I’ll help with a little blood, but you want to actually talk and I’ll just laugh and cut you down because I’m such a great person.” That last part was dripping with sarcasm. “But perhaps you didn’t fathom that I might have been trying to talk? Should I give the benefit of the doubt?” She pretended to ponder this. “I don’t know, if you can’t spot the enormous board of lumber, you might even miss the barn. Uphill battle, if you ask me. So you tell me. Using the cloth as a one-up, or do you actually have a soul somewhere under the goth getup?”

Alberto gives her a grin as he sees the glare she sends him, was that really supposed to scare him? “you do know that you aren’t that scary right?” he then asked her and gives her a small grin. He then frowns as he sees the blood, it was moments like this he wished he had healing powers instead of the destructive powers he did have. His eyes glances over the room for a moment watching the ice creep up the walls, humm just as powerful as always then, he shakes his head and moves his hand up to stop it from freezing completely, concentrating hard to make sure it stopped before it reached to far.

His eyes then goes back to the girl in front of him as she speaks. He rolled his eyes when she talked “fine.. bleed to death, like I care” he then said but kept holding out his hand so she could take the ripped t shirt if she wanted. “and I wasn’t making fun of you in any way, so I don’t understand why you are so mad I mean all I said was that life sucks… and that I agreed with you, but if you want to be mad… be my guest..” He then added and raised an eyebrow to her.

He kept himself calm and collected, not caring about the fact that she is upset for some odd reason he don’t really understand he hadn’t even said anything special to her. He grins “no darling, no soul here… I’m as soulless as my power, as hard as ice…. My heart simply inst there.” he then said with a lot of sarcasm in his voice before he rolled his eyes and started to turn back around, this girl was mental he was quite sure of it.

You do know that you aren’t that scary right? Tiana very much wanted to do bodily harm to this young man. She pressed her thumb into the cut on her palm with harsh pressure. The kind of pressure she wished she could be applying this boy’s tender eyeball.

Why was she such a cruel person? Because she was used to people hating her, so she just hated them first. Quite often, like that instance on the obstacle course, people would do or attempt to do harm to her simply because they didn’t like her. Her head had throbbed for a solid 24 hours after that cheap shot she’d been on the receiving end back then.

Like I care? Of course he didn’t care. He was just like everyone else in this gods-forsaken place. Then he went and said he hadn’t made fun of her. Her jaw almost dropped at the level of stupidity he was displaying in her eyes. “Oh yeah, because you’re quite funny when you’re mad is a great way to make friends.” Then she called him a few choice names in Latin that shouldn’t be spoken in polite society.

Tiana narrowed her eyes as he confirmed that he was an evil person. She huffed. “Glad you embrace it. Have fun being alone forever.” With that, she turned on the spot and stalked out of the temple, very glad to be rid of his useless company. If one could even call it company. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Alberto gives out a laugh. "Well other then my dear sister I do not have friends.. So I don't really know how to make friends at all." He then said with a lot of honestly in his voice as he give the girl a pointed look. He rolled his eyes when he heard the Latin coming from her lips, he shakes his head and waits for her to say something more.

"Thanks, I will most likely always be alone so... I can't really say anything against that.." He told her and stands in his place as he stare at her, he then look at her as she walks out of the temple. He then made his way up after her and before she is far away he said.

"So this is your way? Just get angry, not listening to anyone and then walk away in a huffy?" He asks and waits for her to react, to do anything. Anything at all, people like her was rare and she interested him.

Tiana hated him. She couldn’t explain fully why, but she did. Maybe it was that familiarity breeds contempt sort of thing. She found a being that she could identify with and it made her nervous. And when she got nervous, she got angry. She didn’t like to be nervous, and it was obviously the fault of whatever or whomever made her nervous that she ever got that way. She could tell he was being honest this time, but her eye for an eye mentality told her that he’d laughed at her honesty, so she was within her rights to laugh at his.

When he went as far as to play the pity card, she narrowed her eyes and rubbed her thumb and forefinger together in her classic sign for the world’s smallest violin. Then left. Somehow, when one was mad, one was hyperaware. Maybe it was a battle survival thing. Who knew. All she could tell was that there were footsteps behind her. She stopped walking, not liking the challenge, but unable to simply not answer it. “You’re real rich, ain’t ya? I told you, freak. I tried to play nice and you freaking laughed. Not with me. At me. There’s a whole world of difference there. So yeah, I’m kind hacked off with you.” She balled her fists and planted them on her hips. “And heads up, little fart, I haven’t had a friend in eight years, so don’t tell me any crap about being lonely. My own flipping cousin betrayed me! Little b**** acted all nice and friendly and eager to be together! Then never showed up again! Ignored me! So I know f***ing alone!!!” she finished in a yell loud enough to disturb Valentines pair all across camp. She was breathing hard. Her hands felt warm where the fresh energy was pooling. Yes, if she ever met Mikayla Sinclair again, that prep would be dead meat. She’d give her third degree burns while strangling her and see how she liked that. Tiana took a deep breath and straightened up.
